Fought through several platoons of Blue Suns (do these guys grow on trees or something? they're everywhere!) to find Okeer, only to end up with Okeer dead and a tank krogan in his place. Krogan is still in the tank for now. Something weird happened in the fight with Jedore - the YMIR didn't get activated so it was still hiding on the other side of the room after Jedore was already taken out. Had to go chase it down instead of run away from it like I normally do.
Went to Horizon, died about 500 times before the praetorian ever showed up (stupid husks with armor - I seriously considered lowering the difficulty but finally managed to get past them) then nuked the praetorian with the Cain (and it didn't even take it out - I needed to finish it off with Incinerate). Saw Kaidan, got called a traitor, then left. TIM set up the whole thing - not gonna forget that one, not at all.
Headed to Haestrom to pick up Tali. Fought so many geth it felt like ME1 all over again (just ask Garrus). Told Reegar to stay hidden so he survived.
Still trying to get Kelly to feed my fish but so far it's not happening.

fraggle : Curiosity about the Modrin shot with the krogan in the back. Is that Wrex/Wreav and Eve? I don't recall the details of your PT. Did you cure the genophage? Part of me thinks you didn't and the still-living Mordin is following his conscience post-war. I don't think it's Wreav (or Wrex), at least not judging from the armor. Eve died in my playthrough since I didn't save Maelon's data. And I didn't cure the genophage either. Mordin's only way to end up living is to not cure the genophage and have Wreav in charge/Eve dead. And yeees, it definitely seems like Mordin's cooking something up!

I keep on delaying curing the genophage since I know I'm going to habe to sabotage the mission and it's going to be one of the hardest decisions I've had to make in this series.
Augh, I don't want to; I'm going to end up sobbing, I know it.

Dear Ashley, You will never guess who (or what) the Shadow Broker turned out to be and who the Shadow Broker is now. I helped Liara find him and her friend Feron. The Shadow Broker was a species that I had never seen before, a Yahg; and now... I still can't believe... Liara is the new Shadow Broker. Remember how much of a naive teenager she seemed to be? Well, she's grown... up... a lot. I took Jack with Liara and I for the fight. She's the convict I picked up. We made a good team. Jack's a vanguard too and it was fun tossing the Shadow's Brokers agents off the hull of his ship left and right with our shockwaves after Liara stripped away the barriers of the enemy vanguards. Don't get me wrong, I still would have rathered having you watch my back (or whatever it was you were looking at back there - wink, wink) Now... this is difficult... I had a long talk with Thane, the assassin I mentioned in my last letter... about holding onto memories and guilt. I realized that I do feel guilty about leaving you on Virmire. I know... you were sacrificing yourself for the rest of the team and to complete the mission... to make sure that bomb went off no matter what. Still, it was me who put you in that position. Kaidan turned his back on me on Horizon and now I wish I had of selected Kaidan to arm the bomb instead. It's unkind and petty, even silly... but right now, it's the way I feel... just empty... so alone and empty inside. Missing you more than ever. Love, V. This is a continuation of Vance Shepard, after a bit of a long break, so I've quoted myself above as a refresher of where I left off. Vance started up a romance with Ashley in ME1; but then left her on Virmire and he's been having difficulty moving on with his life. Dear Ashley, Today I helped Miranda relocate her sister Oriana. Oriana is a much younger, genetically engineered "twin" sister to Miranda; and Miranda took her from the family home several years ago and had been using Cerberus to help her keep her sister's whereabouts hidden from their father. Miranda's father seems to be a bit of a nutcase... not the wonderful parents we've both had, for sure. Growing up with a dad like that has certainly messed with Miranda's head. Her father did find out about Miranda's relocation plans and bribed her best friend into betraying her and planning to give Oriana over to a bunch of Eclipse mercs. We stopped them and Miranda was able to finally talk with her sister... which has made her a much more relaxed and happier person overall. After we got back to Nos Astra, we headed right out to recruit another person for our mission. This one is an Asari Justicar, which is kind like being a warrior monk protecting the meek and innocent while bringing down the wrath of God on the wicked. The doctrine they follow, called the Justicar Code, makes things very black and white for them and she even had to swear an official oath to join our mission. Still, she'll make a very capable fighter on the team... Sorry Ash, I have to cut this short. The Illusive Man wants to speak to me in the debriefing room. Love, V.

Kelly's offer to have dinner usually occurs only right after you finish recruiting Samara... with the offer to feed the fish coming in the conversation right after that dinner. If you've already recruited Samara and you don't get the opportunity to have dinner with her, it means you've not flirted with her quite enough to trigger that dinner. It happens to me a lot when I play Femshep generally because I tell I like Garrus rather than asking for some of her therapy or I ask her if she's into aliens. (I hate that Femshep has to flirt that hard with her just to get the fish fed... and if Kelly doesn't feed, I mess it up so they wind up dead every single time.)

I have finished the game with Mark the Renegade, and ran through both ending. Jack was really easy to notice as a phantom, but boy, what a waste of a great character. Annoyingly, her name never showed up on the Normandy's wall. Really, really wish I knew about the time limit on Grissholm. Morinth' appearance I would have missed if I was not actively looking at Banshee's names. Granted, she is the only one in that area, but yeah... In terms of endings, the Destroy one was really kinda boring, though that's the only one where Shepard seemed to make it. At least Liara did not fix the plaque with his name to the wall, and there was a shot with him drawing a ragged breath in, in the very end. So, I assume that was the vaunted Shepard lives! Ending. Control, I've liked better, with Shepard narrating it. Plus, EDI survived. Still, I am an oddball, I liked the Synthesis the most, plus, yeah, I also had all those happy slides on it with everyone having those great endings... You're not alone. Never understood why that ragged breath is such an obsession for some. Most of the time, I half imagine it as Shepard's last breath anyways. I like Control as well.

It would have been a great place for Bioware to have inserted some squad mate comments.

Today Kim killed a giant spider on Rannoch, twice. First time she picked the Quarians, but it felt hollow. Redid the mission and picked the Geth because screw you Tali I'm still mad you didn't give me the shield upgrades >:C. It was pretty anti-climactic either way.
Saved Baby Grunt on the way to the Citadel, while poser Queen got left behind. Did a bunch of chatting on the main levels. Threatening Voluses with Zaeed, dinner with Kaidan and some deliveries. Good stuff. Then went to the Strip to get Fire Cobra Claw agent Grunt out of custody. Afterwards it was time to pick up party supplies and meet up with Garrus. And ugh...Not my cup of tea. Only thing I kind of liked was how his neck stretched out in the banter. Otherwise just no. Do not want. Go away. Sit in the corner of shame and think about what you did. But the Party supplies were good. *blows a party horn*.
Went shopping with Edi and then started the Leviathan DLC. Found out were Garneu was hiding, went to fetch him but found Reapers instead. They did not bring their A game and the Banshee came earlier than expected. So she got a lovely kiss from the Hydra as a reward, then the team chilled while the drone did it's thing. Kim then went back to the Citadel, located Ann Bryson on the map, beat James' pull up record and visited the Asari councilor. Next session will probably be some fuel sniffing, monastery visiting and Thessia. So good times.

Dear Ashley,
The Illusive Man is up to his old tricks again. He sent us off to check out an Collector ship knowing full well it was a trap. Miranda had a tough time believing it, though. Still, she fought hard during the mission, stripping the barriers of countless collector guardians and several harbingers, which Jack and I put our shockwave talents into overdrive... throwing everything around as much as we could. After we got back, TIM had the nerve to ask me to lie to the crew to cover up what he did... Of course, I told the crew exactly what would happen if TIM tried to pull another fast one like that again. Naturally, now he wants us to go investigate an actual Reaper... like that's going to happen anytime soon.
After we got back, I finally got around to checking out a refinery that had been taken over by some Blue Suns who were using the workers as slave labor. Zaeed mentioned this job way back when I first recruited him and I promised I would get it done. Turns out he wasn't the least bit interested in helping the workers. In fact, much like Saren had done to Anderson, he set the whole refinery on fire just to "open the gate" so we could chase down his old Blue Suns adversary. I slugged him across the jaw and told him that we were going to save the workers. He didn't like that and he's still sulking down in the hold even as I'm writing this; and I'm not sure I can really ever trust him anymore.
Anyway, I see we're at Pragia now... I'll write you again when I get a chance.
Love, V.

You're not alone. Never understood why that ragged breath is such an obsession for some. Most of the time, I half imagine it as Shepard's last breath anyways. I like Control as well. For me, it's because I read a lot of post-war fanfic where I see Shepard have a life with his LI (usually Kaidan). I get into the head of my Shepard and imagine his LI to be very sad if Shepard doesn't make it. Thus, I want them to get that happily-ever-after.

So in ME 3 news been working my way through MP. Had kind of a fun time this morning with MP. Played three games, though all three of them were in the middle of the match so I might not have done much better. That and it seems I was suffering from some bad lag...again. But took my Salarian infiltrator out and did pretty well all things considered, three matches of gold. And in Omega, right up to the final assault on Afterlife. Not really a fan of Omega in all honesty.

On Ilium -
Talked to all the shopkeepers for discounts. Bought some more fish and ship models. Reunited Charr and his girlfriend. Helped out Conrad (and didn't even shoot him this time) then told him (again) to go home. Helped Gianna Parasini with her sting operation. Received a message from the rachni queen. Ran into green Shiala and brokered a better deal for her. Got some tips from Liara on how to find Samara and Thane.
Went for Samara first. Those toxic containers do some serious damage on insanity, and of course the Eclipse mercs kept exploding them on purpose. Really missed being a sniper during this mission. There'e one perch with perfect line of sight where they come out a door. Sigh. Found a "biotic god" who was really a doped up volus. Told him to take a nap so he'd feel better. Found the evidence Samara was looking for, turned in Pitne For, and cut Elnora's merc career very short.
Next up: Back to the trading floor for Liara's first hacking quest and help Miranda get her sister to safety.

Oh my god. What have I just done? I shot one of my dearest friends in the back because he disobeyed me, just to sabotage my other dear friend.
I choked watching this scene. As much as I love this character, Abigail cannot be my canon. After this I'll plan my final playthrough, with decisions I can feel good about.

Finished ME3 - Salarians did their happy dance after learning the genophage was sabotage - quarians live another day - Conrad Verner pulled me from the rubble. My hero Time - just under 6 hours Are you speedrunning them? For me ME1 always takes less time.I can't get myself to do every single thing because the game is quite outdated. I focus on story,do some side quests and it takes me 30 on average. I finished ME2 with all DLC and all sidequests (apart from the Forged ID) and on fluctuating difficulty levels (Veteran-Hardcore and Insanity) and it took about 59 hours. On ME3 ,on Insanity I have reached the story up to the Citadel Coup and Ardat Yakshi monastery, from DLCs I have done Eden Prime and now I'm doing Omega and I have currently clocked at 30 hours. I have never tried to speed through them.Should be quite interesting, especially ME2.I want a playthrough where literally everyone dies hahhaah Edit: Sorry for not realizing I was replying to an ancient post

Are you speedrunning them? A lot of times I do You don't have to speedrun for everyone to die. I did an ME2 playthrough that took about 7 hours with all squadmates I recruited surviving. When I do a speedrun, I know what I will do for that playthrough. Playing through the game adds replay value. Its nice to speed through the game every now and then.

Some guy commented on one of my Mass Effect 3 videos today that fire explosions could not be detonated on shields. (He also said that biotic explosions could not be detonated on shields, then backed off that comment in another reply.) So I ended up firing up ME3 and recorded a quick sequence showing that yes, fire explosions can be primed and detonated on shields.
Then I tried out an Engineer build that used Combat Drone, Sentry Turret, and Marksman. It was as lame as I thought it would be. That idea had been swimming in my head off and on for the past month or so and I just wanted to get it out of my head.

More progress on Ilium -
Fought through a crap ton of Eclipse mercs to get to Miranda's sister and make sure her relocation went off without a hitch. Kept Miranda from killing Niket, but he died anyway. Broke the merc's neck in the first encounter.
Fought through a second crap ton of Eclipse mercs while looking for Thane Krios. The assassin was on his own mission to kill Nassana Dantius. Helped all the salarians on the way up. Needed 2 attempts to get past the krogan in the elevator - 2d attempt I busted out the Arc Projector and it was easy peasy clean up after that. Speaking of easy, I almost always have trouble on this mission, but between Tali and Shepard both hacking mechs and launching drones, the mercs had a lot more to deal with than just a party of 3. Also, pushed the merc out the window. "How about 'Good-bye'?" [can't resist those Renegade interrupts]
Had a panic attack after getting back on the Normandy thinking my fish might be dead since I did both missions without returning to the ship. BIG sigh of relief when they were OK. Gave them double portions to make up for the neglect.
So, that's 4 missions since Horizon - 3 recruits + 1 loyalty. Not sure what to do next to trigger the Collector ship - maybe Garrus' mission so I can get the romance started. I've also got loyalty missions from Jacob, Jack, Mordin, and Samara to do. Spoke with Thane for the first time on the ship. Grunt is still in the tank - I don't think I'll wake him up until after the Collector ship. That was where I had to give up my first Insanity attempt. I got it later with a Soldier but I really want to do it with my Engineer this time. [puts on determined face]

Thoughts ln naming my final Shepard Haven? Or is that too literal?
Haven Shepard? I think it has a nice ring to it, and I like the juxtapositon when she turns out to be a hardass and more than a little snarky.

There should be more Drell around. I would have liked to meet Drells in ME 1 as well.

Dear Oriana,
I never thought Shepard would side with that bitch Jack over me. I'm so angry with him that I could just slam him across the room. On our last mission to Cerberus' defunct biotic facility on Pragia, she fed him a whole lot of crap about how Cerberus kept her locked up and tortured her by making her fight other biotic children. I have to admit, the environment didn't look like it was a good one for raising children. Still, she's just crazy, and I'm convinced that she's going to seriously distract him and jeopardize the mission. I'm going to have to have a word with whoever the Illusive Man has assigned to drawing up these dossiers.
I hope you and your family are settling OK. Take care. Miri
Dear Nephew,
Convinced Shepard to go to Tuchanka to rescue my old student Maelon. Krogan seemed not as aggressive as first anticipated. Clan leader seems very progressive and seems to be making progress in uniting the various clans under his. Centralized government may cause significant change in the mortality rates of Krogan on Tuchanka and make it necessary to further adjust the genophage, but cannot think of that now. Situation on Tuchanka with Maelon was very disturbing. Running high-level tests on human prisoners and on brainwashed male Krogan and also on female Krogan volunteers. Barbaric. Wanted to kill him after discovering true situation but Shepard stopped me and convinced me to save his data as well. Have put the situation aside for now to focus on our current objective of stopping the Collectors. Will decide what to do with the data if we survive.
Am very pleased about your news on receiving tenure. Congratulations. Uncle Mordin
Dear Auntie Ra'an, Thank you so much for helping at my trial. I'm sure the other admirals would have had me exiled were it not for you keeping them in line and Veetor and Reegar speaking up on my behalf. Of course, most of the credit has to go to Shepard.... but then again he has always been very skillful at rallying people to his cause. Someday I'll tell you the story Garrus told me about how he got a Turian to shoot a bartender for him here on Omega. I'm actually very proud to carry my new name.
We're on Omega now tracking down the daughter of one of my squad mates. This daughter has some sort of Asari genetic condition that causes her to need to kill everyone she mates with. Shepard and Samara are in talking with the mother of one of her victims right now, giving me a chance to write this letter... oh, here they come so I better sign off.
Stay safe, Tali Zorah vas Normandy

I've been playing a "Sole Survivor" Shepard for the first time. Earlier I did that mission where Corporal Toombs is threatening to kill the Cerberus scientist for letting his squad die on Akuze and do experiments on them.
I've done it before, but not as a sole survivor. The new dialog between him and Shepard really opened my eyes and made me feel even more sorry for Toombs.

Saved Councilman Burns with biotic version of these guys just derping everywhere: Ironically I did that mission afterwards. And then more of this: I guess that proves it... There IS a box. (Looks like a seriously sticky wicket... How did you get out?)
