Flamer (when done properly) is an excellent tool against all factions. Especially Collectors and to some extent Reapers and Geth (if you geth Geth shields down). Least effective against Cerberus. Flamers are incredibly effective vs every faction. They just totally blind fellow players in many cases unless they are working on enemies on their own.

I play my Flamer right so I definitely understand the annoyance. Hell, I probably play my Flamer even more right then most people that think they play it right. But....

A big part of the "Skill of playing with randoms" is being able to adapt to any situation. You play the hand your dealt. Randoms come with random situations, that's the whole draw to playing with randoms. PUGing is an art form that has to be appreciated for what it is =).
