It's 3pm on a work day, I wonder if anyone will notice if i crawled under my desk for a nap. I wish I drank coffee at times like this.

I am now eating my weight in chocolate to sugar rush my way to home time.

Just got back from watching Suicide Squad. I feel like my brain's gone numb in self-defense. This is for me, up to now, the worst movie of the year. Positives : Margot Robbie very good as Harley Quinn, Viola Davis decent as Amanda Waller and Will Smith decent as Deadshot. Negatives : too many to count. Do yourself a service and if you really want to watch this movie wait till you can rent it or even better wait till it's on Netflix.

I realized today that Final Fantasy XV comes out in a month and 22 days, so thought about that for a little while. Can't wait of course. Also keep thinking about the Olympics because of all of the events going on and pretty much the 24/7 coverage.

I'm not that familiar with the DC universe like I am with Marvels, but I do know about the obvious biggies like Batman and Superman and their respected big name antagonists like Joker and Luther. I do know of Harley and Deadshot, which is the main reason why I saw the movie. They were played perfectly. Waller was excellent also, nothing like a cold hearted character who brings fear to those under her/him. The story was lacking unfortunately. I heard there was a lot of trimming done to the movie, especially with the Joker and Harley arc. Maybe the release of Blu-Ray we'll get an extended edition.

I liked Suicide Squad for what it was, some of the parts were enjoyable while other parts fell flat for me. For the Joker especially I wish there had been a little more craziness with him or just wish he was a little more eccentric. Heath Ledger was great though and his performance will definitely be a difficult one to overcome.

Irregular sleeping patterns are odd. I'd like to have a 26-hour day, perhaps then it would work more smoothly. Keep moving going to bed further every day, and it ends up slowly changing the pattern over time. I like the more normal hours for handling errands but I don't think my night owl side is that easily killed. I like the quiet night time - but I'd also prefer to get to bed before 3AM. Right now, it's 8:23 in the morning, and I'm only considering going to bed. Weird working hours sometimes do this, too.
I'm constantly astonished by the genuine friendliness and niceness of some people I meet online.

I went to see it with pretty low expectations and was still disappointed. These guys were supposed to be 'the bad guys?' LOL. Plot was horrible (fighting against some ancient witch and hordes of faceless monsters, really?), every baddie had a sob story and their 'reasons' to stay with the Squad were super lame. The idea of government using evil people for the greater good was a good one, but they failed hard in actually making that idea work. Suicide Squad had some funny moments and the music was good, but the story and characters sucked. There's not much good to be said about the movie or most of it's characters... Waller was OK and I liked Flag (though for elite special forces guy he was not very good at fighting or anything else...)

I hope that an extended edition can change something for me (it did for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice), but then it seems that WB and DC have a huge problem on their hand, this being the second movie this year that feels rushed and with big plotholes just because of bad film editing.

Heath Ledger was great though and his performance will definitely be a difficult one to overcome. Maybe in a separate Batman movie, Jared Leto , who is otherwise an excellent actor ("Requiem for a Dream" - WOW! and of course "Dallas Buyers Club") , can give a better performance than this. As I stated in another post, maybe they cut some meaningful scenes which could have impacted my opinion.

Oh, you guys are talking about Suicide Squad! I want to talk about Suicide Squad! I wanted so badly to like this, and I do. It really wasn't as bad as the reviews made it sound but it's also not as awesome as I hoped it would be. The plot was kind of awful. I mean, we have a group of people going up against Enchantress. There is what, one metahuman in the bunch with El Diablo (I don't know if people count Killer Croc, I don't really.). Realistically, they kind of had no chance against Enchantress, yet they still prevailed, yay! I get what they were trying to do by basing it loosely on the story line from The Nightshade Odyssey, where the squad does go up against Enchantress, but the movie just didn't pull it off.
I enjoyed the beginning with the way the characters are introduced. For me it was very much like watching a comic. I did not like the blasting of a hit song every 10 to 15 minutes, it felt a a bit overboard. I hated how they were suddenly a 'family' and 'friends' in the last 3/4 of the movie. It felt really rushed and I think a mutual respect for one another would have felt more natural. So yeah, I cringed when El Diablo shouted about not losing another family, and when Harley said, "but you hurt my friends," before slicing out Enchantress' heart. I think something like, "but I like those guys better,' would have sounded way more in character and less forced. Also the part in the bar where Capt. Boomerang gets on Harley's back about her negativity. Where did that even come from? The editing was a little choppy, a result of maybe trying to make the flow a little too much like a comic book, maybe?
I appreciate all the little things that they slipped in there, like having the Flash be the one who caught Boomerang. The fact that Waller is just as bad as her gang of misfits. That Harley was already a little off her rocker before Joker even "tortured" her (I use the word tortured loosely because the girl seemed to be smiling up at him in anticipation). Seeing them eat each other's faces was a little weird, though. It's not often you saw that in the comics, but Mad Love comes to mind as one where they slip each other a little something extra, and there are a couple of pecks here and there in the animated series. Oh, I loved the nod to Alex Ross' iconic art of Joker and Harley that was in her flashback. That made me smile. Over all I didn't dislike any of the character portrayals, though Flag fell a little flat for me. Croc was surprisingly funny! I always felt bad for him so it was cute to hear him talk about how he's beautiful.
I want to say I like Leto's Joker. I certainly didn't dislike him. He has this creepily sensual way of touching people. He strokes them. But I feel like we didn't get to see enough of him and considering the ending I'm hoping that we're either going to get a Joker and Harley stand-alone or they will be big characters in the next Batman.
In the end I think the movie suffered a low rating (should have been higher than PG13. They could have done so much more with it!), and trying to squeeze too much in to the time they had, resulting in the plot feeling less fleshed out. I really want to see an extended version. I think it movie will be a lot more smoother with more meat, so I will probably be buying it on disc once it's released.
Now that I've gone into all out geek mode I'm going to back away and hide....

Deciding on graphic cards. Between the Nvidia 1070 and 1080. The latter is just too pricey for me. I think I'll go with the 1070, either gaming or extreme gaming.
