I'm gonna play a little later on (hopefully. if we don't lose power due to the snow+ice we're supposed to get). I feel like I have to learn everything all over again, yet it's all so familiar I missed your silly pics Shepenwepet!

Is it normal that you can recruit "infinite" level pawns if they are form friends when you start a new character? Because they make the game easy. I'm also finding Strider not that interesting to play (and the two overleveled pawns I got are both Striders...wearing the same stuff. How did you manage that? ) and I'm thinking of switching to Fighter instead. I think I'm settling on playing a MK once I get access to hybrids vocation, on paper it's technically my fav RPG archetypes so I should find that interesting to play. But I'm wondering if I should wait to max the Strider discipline before switching or not.

I played this game a lot and I have all end game gear and I'm not alone. You can rent max level pawns from friends for free, but the bigger issue than game being easy is that you get much less experience when you have high level pawns in the party, so it is better to stick with pawns few levels below you.

I switched to pawns my level now and gave 1 berry as a gift for the OP ones (no idea how to send stack or what I should send really, I'm poor ).

I guess it's time to restart Ulee and Chase. Castor is currently set to my other account on Steam (can't remember the password...of course ), so I will leave him as is for now. For those not already on FL via Steam (or PS4), main account is coldwetn0se (but of course ), and the other is VinceClortho (I think that is how I spelled it.) I will post again once I get the second account sorted out with a new password, and make sure the spelling is correct. I'm derpy that way. Derp. Chase is the pawn currently on my main account (coldwetn0se), and again, I will notify the thread when I am ready to restart my arisen and Chase. He will of course eventually wield the power of TODD!!! Have fun everyone (and watch out for KaidanFan - she might "punch your throat out" @shepen and @carch - still hoping you will join us on Steam at some point. MISS YOU BEAUTIFUL BASTARDS!!

Yeah I used to farm Death (with xp flower) after NG+ and maxing the arisen/pawn out at 200 to quickly earn crystals for new players, just creating my own mini-game really. XP always got a higher score after a Death "kill" with two low level pawns in the party. It also reduced the amount of times I had to dispatch old boney to give them a high rift crystal tally. It definitely effects the xp score which in turn effects the rift crystal haul, It always took several more Death "kills" to earn a similar amount of rift crystals if the hired pawns were high level. Some of the Steam players I hired from would post screenshots of the rift crystal tally their pawns returned with, the lower level pawns would be more likely than the high level pawns to be on the higher end of the rift crystal score, some even at the max amount.

So according to this, I should have maxed the penalty, but it didn't feel like it to me. The penalty probably doesn't feel as much at level 1-10 because of the amount of XP gained. I hit level 10 last night. Good thing I went to check when to switch vocation because I had forgotten advanced/hybrids were available at that level. So I'm going to have to sleep/wait until it's night and talk to boat lady (Orla) to switch to MK to see if I like that because Grand Soren is still so far away. One thing I didn't forget about the game is how awesome climbing gigantic enemies was. It feels like proper monster fighting. Oh and Dragon's Dogma hydra > Immortals Fenyx Rising hydra fight...in both look and required fighting.

I read more about discipline points vs XP and maybe I should have kept the higher level pawns. They do not affect DCP gains, only XP. So it allows you to max vocation ranks faster while limiting character level gains if you hunt down modest XP rewards enemies. This game was designed for people who love to farm monsters.

Yeah, that is the advantage to level up slower and gain vocation ranks faster if you desire so. Combat is addictive as hell I finished 10 or 11 playthroughs already. Not to mention BBI farming, I run through BBI countless times.

My plans are ruined. Ruined! I can't find a shield MK can use in the village or encampment (travelling) merchant. In other words, my MK is pretty much unarmed. I'll have to endure Strider a while longer... edit: So maybe not as ruined as I believed, apparently there is one in a chest in the Witchwood which I might be able to get as MK with only a sword kill bandit way more easily than Strider so far... edit2: WTF, it's not in the Witchwood...it's right outside the first village gate. The wiki is so badly written.

I intended to play last night but our power went out briefly twice, once after I had started up the game. So, I was afraid to play and shut down my computer when the power came back on. I'll be playing off and on today though I did get a chance to swap Seel out for Castor yesterday though. So now I have the hot boys band with me

Does it affect how fast vocations level ups too? I switched to pawns my level now and gave 1 berry as a gift for the OP ones (no idea how to send stack or what I should send really, I'm poor ). That's a really good question about vocations. I haven't done enough testing to give you a definitive answer, but I believe Vocation ranks are based on experience gain, so in theory, yes, it would have a negative impact to have a high-level pawn above you helping. That having been said, if having a high-level pawn allows you to effectively explore more areas and achieve more, it would contribute to vocation gain that way, so it's tricky to give a clean answer. I used a couple of friends' max-level pawns during both of my characters' development, and the negatives didn't seem to outweigh the positives too much. But I also tended to switch them out once I had enough vocation skills purchased and levels to feel confident without them. What I'd recommend as a more important development consideration is which vocations you and your pawn use to level. If you check the level-up stats (Link here: dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Stat_Growths ) you'll notice that how many levels you gain as which vocation has a big impact on your character's long-term development. Depending on how far you plan to take them, it's a good idea to invest in a variety of vocations, acquire as many of their special skills as you can, and focus on the stats that will make you the most effective in the long run (while also trying to bolster against your chosen vocation's weaknesses.) Just as an example, my main is a Magick Archer, which benefits from having pretty solid all-round stat growth. Even so, I had to spend some time leveling as both a fighter and a strider to plug up some holes in my defense before tackling BBI on Hard difficulty. More challenging was my main Pawn, who is a healer-support mage. She had to be leveled in Fighter a tonne to make up for Mage's total lack of physical defense. I invested in a variety of sets to allow her to be effective outside of her mage class (decent sword, armour etc.) during the long slog of building her defense after level 100. It only really matters if you plan on playing the character a long time, though. Gifts aren't really something you need to worry about when low-level. No one has much to give away then (although the fact that you're trying elevates you when compared to 99% of random summons.) What I do is recruit low-level pawns whenever I start a new playthrough. I don't need high level ones (my pawn and I have it covered, especially early-game) so I just make sure someone is getting decent rift crystals. Sometime around "Defy Salvation" or after I'll upgrade to pawns of my own level. Before, I'll give gifts to the low-level pawns. Usually I'll equip them with items that are trivial to me, but likely to spare them a lot of the mid-level grind (they'll receive anything you have equipped on their pawns once released.) The final "release gift" tends to be a portcrystal. I can only make use of 10, so they're useless to me. But they are hugely valuable to players on their first or second playthrough, because of the limited number you can acquire each time.

Finally found the chest with "maybe" the magic shield. It actually had a two-hander the first time I opened it. I reloaded a "checkpoint" (instead of save ) and the second time it had the shield I wanted...after I dealt with all the bandits and wolves again, because I couldn't reach the shield without going through the Witchwood finally. But they gave me sweet discipline points so I'm not going to complain too much about the walk around. Now to safeguard that hydra head to the capital.

It is possible to jump up there with double vault, but you have to get the angle right. Magic archer has an easier time of it with the fire dagger jumpy thing. Have fun kicking the ox!

So Mercedes wasn't too happy that the Arisen arrived at the rendez-vous point in the middle of the night. She even accused her of sleeping all day. Nenni! The Arisen simply got slowed down by all the bandits and wolves between the encampment and the waycastle. It's not her fault if the local guards are useless. Like that guy in the village who hide in a well when the village was attacked and then got scared off the well by some noises. The escort tend set off through the pass toward Grand Soren, with a slow cart and little annoying monsters coming in waves to say hello. Or maybe goodbye, they didn't live very long. There was even more bandits near the capital. The poorly dressed bandits asked for a toll to be paid. Don't they see the huge hydra's head on the cart and the small army escorting it? What were they expecting? Free money? And with those death the small group made it to the capital at the early hours of the morning. In town, Mercedes bid farewell to the Arisen to go see the Duke...leaving her stranded in a very huge city with no friends. A nearby person, who was so not hiding eavesdropping on their conversation despite claiming otherwise, accosted the Arisen and suggested to investigate the Pawns in the city. But first the Arisen did some shopping and visited the local Inn. Meet Madeleine there, someone the Arisen helped earlier, but that one isn't a friend. Way too self-serving and into money for little effort (aka lets others do all the work, let me pocket the profits). The Innkeeper actually knew where the Pawn's Guild was, so it wasn't too hard to find the place. There the Arisen got a quest to explore what lay beyond a creepy underground entrance.

So mistaking your keybinds can lead to jailtime! I wrongly stabbed the guy that was announcing people killing the hydra in the main square. Guards picked my ass up right away. I guess the pawns ran off because it's lonely in the jail. Outside of some mushrooms. Now the jailkeeper wants money to let me go free. Even called me "no fun" when I refused.

azarhal - I will pick up your FL on Steam, as soon as I can get back on to my desktop. The PNW snow/ice storm has made things....complicated. Have a mountain of drifted snow and ice blocking one of our tenants back kitchen door. No joke, it is about 5ft tall. I gotta get to digging.

I'm currently trying to get to the bandits "camps" to do some questing, but I'm just getting side tracked. Killing stuff while traveling, getting my inventory mostly full of things I just end up stashing. Finding a mostly water filled dungeon full of saurians and bats while randomly exploring. Getting lost (sorta) and just ending up going Cassadiris<->Grand Soren back and forth 3-4 times. I did manage to get to the "witch" to give her some herb she wanted thought and finding those people a old man wanted "exported" from his property. I tried the Pawn dungeon. The early undeads were manageable, but the Ogre got a bit too exited with 3 women in the party...and we barely damaged him in like 10 minutes of fighting. I think what did the most damage was my MK shield deflect spells, but it's a bit too chaotic to manage with a full party. Which brings me to the MK: great when you do parry (99% of my parries are perfect, easier to achieve here than in Fenyx Rising) or enemies stand in the line of sight of your canon. The class is too dependent on having enchanted weapons if you slot sigil/canon on the weapon. Works great when my Mage pawn cast a weapon enchant boons on me, otherwise it's so-so. So I went back to Strider. I have to kill lots of rabbits anyhow, the bow works better for that. Then maybe some fighter/warrior? I also found a magic bow, but I remember Magick Archer being boring to play. You don't even have to aim!

Started fresh last night, but game couldn't handle yet another Ser Palotti's death and kept freezing after the Prologue...

I explored different areas last night. Also did two escort quests and a 3rd one disappeared from the notice board despite not advancing the main story. Looks like I should have done them in order or something? Reached rank 7 in fighter to get the augment that increase perfect block window. Then switched back to MK with a different ability load out and the casting time/duration are just annoying. I'll have to play around with those ability loadout. My pawn also reached max rank in Mage so I switched her to Strider. My original plan was to play Mage after fighter to get the augment that increase enchantment duration but I don't think I'll survive doing that (casting is even slower than MK and I like being in enemy's face). I was ambushed three times by cyclops during all that travelling (in different places). Also, the game send me at the wrong place for the troublesome tome quest. Now I have zero indicator to continue the quest. I had to check online for the right place to go, so I'll get there today and finish that up then check at the village for some other side quests that needs doing before advancing the main one. I also want to try Warrior. Everyone says it sucks, like MK, maybe I'm going to like it.

I think I'm going to restart. Reasons: - my Arisen skin is too dark, it's bothering me. - 99% of female pawn have the same voice as mine, somewhat annoying. I should have expected it because Laura Bailey, but still. - Played some Mage finally...and I'm liking it (sorta). Going by what my MK needs augment-wise, I need to max both Mage and Sorcerer for the augments way more then Strider/Fighter. So I'm going to play that first and maybe some Warrior (maybe I should try Warrior before restarting ). - I'm missing quests based on the wiki. One seems to be gone because I didn't pick it fast enough off the notice board, but I have no idea why the other isn't where it should be, I'm at the right main quests stage for it. edit: tried Warrior in the quarry. I'm not sure if the slowmo camera every time I use an ability is expected, but it's kinda annoying. It's like the FPS lock for 1 seconds every time.
