On NG++ now and also started my alt account (which is my original account that was highjacked by a region lock). Game is still fun. Still going to ignore a lot of the story while I try to keep a cyclops alive long enough for it to become a bridge. Also, Briana has the plague and I want to see how long I can go without sleeping in a town. Luckily, I'm indigestible to the Brine or something. So are a few NPC's. Fixed a stuck quest by accident after throwing Hugo out of his cell and into the river. He immediately respawned and walked out the door.

There are a few spots where there is a cyclops basically setup to become one. That's how I got mine, Cyclops was sleeping near a broken bridge and once he woke up after one love tap, he did the "fall over the gap" and I ran to the other side, got the achievement, whacked at his head with my big greatsword a few times...and when he fell he grabbed my ankle and off with him I went into the Brine!!! I tried to do this one twice so far, but both times it just barely missed the other side and into the brine it went x.x

Hmm, just went into the rift hired a new pawn and I've just got the Dragonsplague pop up message. Oh well, I suppose it's time to dismiss my hires and give my pawn a Brine dunk. After a more detailed inspection in the Rift the new pawn has red eyes, is holding it's head and grimacing. Fortunately I haven't left the Rift yet and have dismissed all hires. The overtly noticeable symptoms of head holding and grimacing don't manifest on the initial Rift summons but the red eyes do, the head holding etc. appear after hire in the Rift, so it's probably advisable to wait a moment in the Rift to check everything is normal with new hires before rushing out. Good advice 👍🏽

Minor Frustrations
I have a highly subjective problem with the game which is more likely to effect people like me from the UK. The English language version is using a variety of different British accents, most of the in game accents are absolutely fine but when it comes to the pawn inclination voices then that's a different story. Some of the pawn inclination voices are very grating and I just can't listen to them.
The frustrating thing is you come across a random npc in the game and you think that's a nice unique voice why couldn't they have used this instead of the "generic UK soap opera Cockney" (which in this game I find a bit too Goblin adjacent) for the Straightforward inclination. Personally I think that a Sara (Brokkr's Smithy) type voice would have been an interesting choice for this inclination. So effectively I'm personally restricted to the more neutral kindhearted and calm voices as the others are a "bit too much", to be frank, insufferable.
Just one of those minor frustrations, otherwise I'm enjoying the game, all of this is highly subjective to me of course. I just wish they hadn't linked voices to inclinations because if a player doesn't like one of those inclination voices (and I really don't like some of them) then their pawns are effectively locked out of those inclinations as I couldn't bear listening to them. I presume there's a pawn chatter toggle but I'd rather not use that.

I'm only really familiar with male straightforward and female simple. Male straightforward doesn't sound cockney. He sounds like a haughty old jerk, Carcharoth mentioned he sounded like Neloth from Skyrim... ...and I agree, even though that apparently isn't the same voice actor. One of the male pawns is DA2 Anders (Adam Howden), I'm guessing Kindhearted? Haven't heard basic-pitch Male Calm, but I don't think that one's him. Female Simple always brings a smile to my face though. She's so upbeat. I'm still unfamiliar with the rest of the female voices, and I don't think I've encountered a single female straightforward. I do wholly agree with hating voices being linked to inclination. I loathe the actual voice for straightforward male, but that attitude is amazing and makes up for it. Just wish the voice fit my pawn.

I'm currently renting a Female Straightforward and I as thinking of making a future pawn using it (Archie is Calm) because the accent is the cherry on top of the very dismissive things she's saying.
Like if you want a pawn to throw in the Brine, that's the right combo!

My main pawn is fem kindhearted and she's such a total sweetheart, I always feel bad whenever she ends up falling into brine or gets pummeled by enemy (also the way they all behave when they have high affinity is adorable) I was thinking about swapping her personality to straightforward or calm, but at this point it would feel wrong

Archie got his first pawn badge! 30 Cyclops killed with the help of my boy...who's currently dressing like a girl because my best Sorcerer dress is gender-fit. Also, after so many oxcart trip without an incident or nothing more than lowly wolves/goblins. I think my last 3 were interrupted by Cyclops (the two today were anyhow).

Are the statues DD2's version of the 'Stones of Courage'? It's like they're not even trying to hide it this time. For reference, here's the Stones of Courage, from a bad angle.

The statues point to interesting places to visit (ruins, caves, etc), there is always something written nearby with a hint of what that is. I also found a few Seeker token near a few of them.

Oh no lol, I meant the shape, because I'm secretly a 12-year old child. The Stones of Courage in DD1 was two boulders flanking a tall shaft of stone. Admittedly, that's a bad picture I have, but it was a bit of a joke location among the fandom. I'm not one to see phallic symbols everywhere to be honest, but even I was taken aback at the sight of one of the DD2 statues from afar.

Hope everyone is still having fun. No, I haven't finished. I've *just* started on the battahl section of the map a couple days ago. I couldn't stop exploring the northern part of the map (it was like the hinterlands, lol) but my son told me to move the story along a bit so I could find other vocation (MAGICK ARCHER) which is not clicking for me like it did in the first game but I'm still experimenting and working on it. Trying warfarer atm, it's okay. Liked fighter/thief/magick archer most so far. But, I have a question: Beren will NOT give me the warrior meister skill. I completed his questline, he moved to his childhood home and gave me 5 bunches of flowers. Since then he only gives random lines. I've tried sleeping in several diff towns and quitting all the way out of the game and restarting a few times and still nothing I've seen online that is *is* a bug and have tried all the "solutions" but I haven't gotten his escort yet, maybe it's a requirement? I even gave him like 30 gifts Any other suggestions or fixes welcomed! Anyways I'm gonna try to do a quest to advance the story a little further today. I think I'm still very early in the battahl stuff. Just a pretty place:

Have you tried giving him gifts? It looks like you need high affinity as well as finishing the quest to get scrolls from meisters, so if you take long enough from start to finish, affinity might decay and you won't get the scroll without escort or gift.
Edit: I have not noticed that you did give him gifts on my first read, feel free to disregard my dumb butt. No clue how to fix your problem then.
Also, I hate dragonsplague because all I do is worry about my poor Nick and it's sucked some of the fun out of the game for me. I've fought 0 drakes cause of it For what it's worth, I haven't encountered the plague at all on my first run, and I killed plenty of drakes. I've heard it might be specific moves or getting downed that causes it, but I can't verify it because my pawn never got it. You should also get a tutorial pop-up the first time you see it, so you're safe until then.

Don't worry too much about Dragonsplague, honestly. If you haven't gotten the tutorial pop-up message yet, you're good. If you've burned through that safety net already, you've most likely been travelling with your pawn for a few dozen hours, and you'll be familiar with their voice lines. While red eyes are one of the tells, sometimes it's very hard to see. The easier tell is new voice lines. Things like "My mind is clearer than ever." Don't be afraid to use commands in battle, as they don't influence inclination anymore, and you'll sometimes root out plagued pawns that way; they'll refuse to obey. If you don't rest at inns/your house much and instead camp all the time, you're doubly safe. Once you've determined a pawn in your party has it, you can camp to shift it to a pawn you can dismiss. The pawn will not bring dragonsplague home, as Car and I tested that with Zihark. Much nicer than brining your own pawn, which results in scarring and a drop in affinity. If the worst happens and you nuke a town, eternal wakestones are forgery-friendly until post-game and there's always someone out there willing to help if you don't have one. I've got spares on ps5 if someone's pawn goes nuts.

Maybe if you "break" them trying to initiate convo it break things. I think I saw it happen with Elf-boy (he's basically stalking me at this point, but has nothing to say despite saying he has things to say).

Thanks for the replies everyone So Berenn. I started playing yesterday, went and did a quest and returned to him. He spouted random lines. I was like UGH. Gave him one more gift and started to leave. Decided to talk one more time before taking off and HE GAVE IT TO ME. Like what? I have no idea About that dragonsplague: I had been lucky until a couple days ago. Went in the rift to replace the low level mage we had. The replacement had BLUE eyes. So I rented her. POP UP. I dismissed her and returned to screen w/o saving because I always save before I rent a pawn. Kept the low mage. Went about our business. Was having a fight by a wooden bridge. It got destroyed in the fight. The mage was standing right on it and died to the brine. So I'm like "welp". Started to walk up the road, know how the pawns will assault you for conversation on the road? Well about 4 steps and one did. A mage. Same level as me. So I'm like....fate, right? I save and rent her. SAFE! WHEW. About 10 more steps another wants to talk. RED PULSING EYES. LOL. I threw him off a cliff So I got my mage and my warrior skill. Did a couple story quests in battahl so will pick up with that today and maybe try to get medusa head if I feel like it. I haven't finished the sphinx stuff yet so I don't have the eternal stone so maybe I'll do that today? I see you Nick

So I'm back to not knowing 100% what's going on with dragonsplague behind the curtain. Last night, I hired a known plagued pawn (Thanks, Bri!) so I could spread it to my main pawn. I camped once, he got it. FYI: This idle pose (the stretching) is connected to dragonsplague: It happens before the headaches, it happens before the red eyes. You're still probably going to hear the lines first, though. Shinon wouldn't shut up about how exceptionally fine he felt. Anyway, I needed the reaper's scorn trophy but needed to dupe my eternal wakestone first, just in case. I slept once in Battahl to help progress the plague before heading up to the Rest Town. After a battle, I noticed my other pawn, a kindhearted sorcerer, was doing the straightforward battle end pose, spitting on the ground. Thought that was weird and out of character, but chose to ignore it. Then he did the stretches. Shinon wasn't anymore. So I went into photo mode and cut the lights. what happened, bud? how did you get the plague? I camped once, it jumped from Briana to Shinon, then she leapt off a bridge, classic Briana. I went to Battahl and slept. It somehow jumped from Shinon to Zihark. I didn't think inn rests were supposed to do that. When I nuked the outpost, Shinon was the only pawn in my party so I don't really have any more info in that regard. I also don't know if hired pawns can go nuclear so that's something to experiment with tonight. And a final screenshot of someone who clearly has something she's working through with the help of this beast steak.

Briana often sits near, or follows around, my Arisen's pawn counterpart. Which is adorable, but I still wonder why that's happening, or if it's just a coincidence. Zihark searches the depths in vain after his team gets taken by the brine. Fortunately, there was a riftstone nearby. Unfortunately, there were more brinings after we found a gore minotaur a minute later. The arisen suddenly realized he had several things he needed to do at the volcanic island camp, and unfortunately, didn't have time to stop at his house. Glyndwr is my new Aelinore. And he constantly looks annoyed when I interact with his sister. Probably just my imagination though. Maybe. At the camp. Although only two of them make any sense to me. Doireann gets gifts and Sera gets spoken to a lot for quests, upgrades and discounted gear. Margit is someone I've only talked to during till death do us part, and only twice per ng cycle. Still blushes at me though. Also looks a bit like my Arisen's (presumably) departed wife.

Glyndwr is my new Aelinore. If you rearrange the letters in Glyndwr and add hyphens just because, you get L-ygn-dwr, which kind of sounds like Aelinore, if you pronounce it wrong. Coincidence?! Seriously, though, he needs to stop. But I think he sees you in that screenshot. Take him for a walk, toss him in the brine. I kept declining his invitations but I don't think that gives any real hit to affinity. NG+ seems to have screwed up everyone's affinity for me. No high affinity lines from Shinon, just the NG+ one. And I've had Mildred's house for a while and nobody has left me gifts, despite me chatting them up. Especially Dante, that delicious hunk of man from the Checkpoint Rest Town that's always creepily watching me from the doorway when I wake up at the inn. Given him like four things.

Double post because I was looking through pictures and this just wrote itself. Barnaby: Lynn, they caught him going through the storehouses again. Alynna: Oh, Maker. Shinon, what has gotten into you? I told you, we have plenty lantern oil, we'll be fine when night comes. Shinon: I know, it's not... I was just looking, and the armorer started yelling, and suddenly there were guards... Alynna: This isn't like home, we're guests here, you can't go poking through people's things! What were you even looking for? Shinon: Can someone untie my hands, please? Barnaby: She asked you a question. Shinon: Look, I was just talking to the vocation guildmaster, right? He said it'd be fine if I took a pair of daggers to go with my bow, just don't tell anyone. Alynna: The same guildmaster that said weapons were stretched thin and you had to take one or the other? Shinon: Yes. A-and he said if anyone asked him if he gave me permission, he'd deny it, so you can't just go ask him. He'll just say he kicked me out of the inn. Guild. Whatever. He doesn't want to get in trouble. *looks over his shoulder at Barnaby* Untie me, c'mon. This rope chafes. Alynna: The people at this outpost were kind enough to take us in, alright? You can't be stealing weapons. Shinon: I wasn't! *sighs* You guys don't get it, do you? You've got your preferred weapons. I feel like I've lost a limb without my daggers. What the hell am I supposed to do in close quarters with a bow? Poke things in the eye with an arrow? Barnaby: A well-placed kick could create distance and you could retreat. Shinon: No, the correct answer is I drop my bow, draw my daggers-- Alynna: Vocations here are heavily regulated, Shinon. Strider isn't recognized. Thieves use daggers, that's it. Shinon: Well then I want to change vocations. Alynna: You want to be a thief? Barnaby: He's already halfway there. Shinon: I never stole anything! Alynna: If you want to be a thief, we can go over to the tent right now and trade in your bow for daggers. Shinon: No. Alynna: You can't have both. We've been through this. Shinon: Ugh, fine. I'll stay an archer. But I will seethe with rage the entire time. Alynna: Good, that's good. Focus that rage on our enemies. Shinon: Right, yes. Whatever. Untie this damn rope! Barnaby: 'Untie this damn rope, please.' Alynna: *laughs* Let him go, B. I'll keep an eye on him. *Barnaby cuts the rope binding Shinon's hands* Shinon: Thank you. *rubs his wrists* How much Ver.... Vermundian gold we got? I need to go buy some gloves. Alynna: We don't have any money. And I don't think they sell gloves seperately. Shinon: ...Wh... What? Why in blazes not? Alynna: I think they're all sewn into the sleeves, kinda like when you have a kid that always loses his mittens? Gloves can be expensive. You don't want to lose them. Shinon: I want to go home. Everything here is backwards and I don't like it. They've never even heard of Taglius' Miracle. What the hell am I going to drink? Alynna: They have newt liqueur, it's made from fruit and saurian tails. Shinon: Yep, going home. Good luck with all of this nonsense. *turns to leave* Barnaby: You'd leave your arisen in a strange land without your protection? Shinon: *sighs in defeat* I suppose not. Alynna: It's not so bad, Shi. Look on the bright side, we're all together. We've gone through worse. Shinon: ...I guess. Still hate it here, though. Alynna: I know. Remember, focus that anger and frustration on monsters, not people. We'll be back home before you know it.

Upcoming patch to reduce dragonsplague infection rate, the rate at which pawns tell you about that damn ladder (I'm guessing), and main pawns using forager dialogue when there's a support forager in your party, among many other things. Also zoom in on character in menus!
And I'm over here resting 24 times with a full party trying to progress dragonsplague for science. If you inn rest with a full party and the plague isn't already at the final stage, there is like zero chance for it to blow up in your face, because it jumps and regresses. I'm wondering if the people complaining about how dangerous and game ruining it is have actually encountered it. Maybe they just hired a plagued pawn without knowing and decided they needed ten forgeries of a finder's token? Bench sitting is like the only thing I can think of where you'd miss a lot of the signs.

The proper way to greet friends and enemies alike. Mask of the Father and chaos zweihander sold separately. Glyndwr was distracted during his archery lesson. Still learned to keep his eye on the target though. High fives don't always go as planned. When something should be a cape, but isn't, you have to get creative. Post A New Godsway spoilers beyond this point. Avert thine eyes, newly arisen. When you realize you've always needed a giant robot. "Anything interesting back there?" "They're masterworks all, you can't go wrong." "Tis written that this tower was built long, long ago, at a lord's behest. No accounts remain of why, however."

I have a thing to share. I have much, much more than this because these characters and this game as a whole is a non-stop laugh riot.
...this doesn't seem to show up properly on mobile. Is it just screwy for me?
