The plan was formulated by both, I think, but the part about Cailan riding in the frontier was all on the latter. He explicitely told Cailan he was too dangerous. I could buy the argument that "we can't really tell if Loghain betrayed Cailan or wisely withdrew" had the battle plan been all Cailan. But we do know that it was in fact Loghain that formulated it. Also, if he didn't believe it was a true blight -- and I think he really didn't -- why would Loghain suddenly abandon a "superior strategic position" at Ostagar he himself chose after having won 3 battles already? I get that BioWare wanted to reinforce the whole uncertainty angle so that even Solas described it as such in DA:I. Unfortunately, in my eyes, nothing of the sort was established in DA:O. Then again, it's only my opinion. He never denied the danger of the darkspawn, as Cailan did. He thought that the battle was lost and that he didn't want to have his army destroyed as well, leaving Ferelden even more vulnerable. Although this is my opinion, unlike the fact that he didn't want the throne. As @element Zero said, I'm saying this as my perspective, not my characters. Most of them have different reason to be pissed at Loghain, for different reasons (and some weren't). My canon Cousland actually believed he was connected to Howe before the war and that he had planned to wipe out the only two nobles that could stand on his same level in the Landsmeet (but to be fair he wasn't very reasonable when it came to Howe).

If you would read his tweets, you'd know that he later replied he was mistaken about it, and he referred to some recessive genes in their ancestors. Not that I think this matter will be handled necessarily well. He said that after he got called out. 99% likely it's damage control and the bs about her having human ancestry is in the final game. Must be the thing that makes her "special". Holy shit this game is being handled fucking poorly. The character kits and horrible designed characters were one thing but throwing away the lore is just ME3 tier. I hope he was actually mistaken but then again he's the lead designer... Ain't this some sad shit? And I thought that child will always be an asari regardless whether if it is a human, krogan, or turian. So how in the world this one has eyebrows because she "coincidentally" has human DNA? All asari are hairless and their features will remain the same no matter who the father is. BioWare is getting stupid now......

Peebee is still an asari. They never explicitely stated they might not get something from their ancestors, regardless if they mean asari or another species. Mind you, it'll be monumentally stupid if it turns out she actually has human ancestors, but this whole topic seems like an overreaction for now.

Well, the fact that we didn't get anything on 2/14 save for a memo that BioWare will show "something" 4 days before the release was mind boggling to me. It's an AAA that releases like an indie.

Maybe Peebee was born during the trip to Andromeda? Asari wouldn't need to be frozen, and I'm sure someone would have to watch the ship. It's been 600 years.

I wonder if Prey will end up being a better game than Andromeda? It looks amazing. The difference in the marketing is staggering (and Prey is published by Bethesda!).

They're different types of games, although I'm pleasantly surprised to what they're showing. I remember there were a lot of concerns when it was announced.

In terms of what? Graphics, cinematics, gameplay? What is it with you and Uncharted 4? I can't even tell if you're trolling. If cloud9 is who I think he is, he thinks most RPGs should take gameplay cues from Assassin's Creed and does not understand the concept of different gameplay genres (or indeed the existence of preferences that don't align with his own - sort of like Dutch). I once spent about ten pages on the OG BSN arguing with him about it, but I never made a dent.

Yes, Prey looks like a great game so far. I don't know if it's going to be better than Andromeda, we'll have to wait and see. Like someone said under you, they're different games. Either way plan on getting both games.

The 'Prey' game looks really interesting; but the official site isn't terribly more informative than that of Andromeda. Besides it's a completely different genre, so there isn't much of a point for comparison.

I'm still super salty Prey 2 Bounty Hunter concept was ditched and all of the Human Head Studios work scrapped, we could have had it back in 2012.
But yeah, MEA doesn't have a lot of competition from sci-fi RPGs in 2017. Besides Prey there's: Elex, from the German makers of Gothic/Risen and great if you liked those but probably meh otherwise. The Surge, from the Polish makers of Lords of the Fallen, which strongly resembles Dark Souls but beating up robots instead of abominations from Hell. Again, seemingly meh if you're not a fan of DS series. And there's WH40K Inquisitor Martyr, a seemingly functional Diablo loot-clicker in WH40K setting, might be worth a look for Diablo fans or hardcore WH universe fans, and meh otherwise. So a lot of niche products without the wide appeal of MEA that don't compete with it directly.

A short game on rails, like the Uncharted games, cannot be held up as a standard for lengthy, expansive games like MEA. I'm pretty certain that this conversation has been had before, though.

As someone who is almost "straight outta school" this is disheartening to read from someone who left BW Edmonton in December I know Montreal is working on this game primarily, but I hope BioWare can pick up themselves and stop being... like the way this guy describes them. I hope to god Montreal has a better management than this or else that's probably why some of Andromeda's sneak peeks have been so strangely underwhelming. I'm almost certain this is not the way BioWare has always been and somehow I don't think this fellow youngster employee is expecting too much of a reknowned AAA company to be saying these things, let alone giving them bottom-ranking score. For pros: 1: So that's how Mac Walters is now Creative Director. I always wondered how that came about after... you know what. 3: The regular employees are great people? Good to know... For cons: 1: I now understand the previous emphasis. Anyone who isn't regular is "part of the BW family" that drink beers together and share pictures of lolcats while their subordinates work because they're friends outside of the company. Great company structure, good for morale, would love not to work there. 2: Oh, and Mark Darrah plays games and gets money for it too. Nice to know. 3: Oh you don't say? Because, I didn't get that impression at all from interviews with Aaryn Flynn. 4: Mac Walters's real agenda for being so high up whilist not doing a solid job since he became lead writer. 5: Manveer Heir, oh how have you not been told to leave yet? I was supposed to be talking about the team making ME:A though wasn't I? Oh yeah... about that... - Posted July 27, 2016 - "VFX Artist"Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Montreal, QC (Canada) - Doesn't Recommend
- Negative Outlook
- No opinion of CEO
I worked at BioWare full-time (More than 5 years) Pros- Used to be a great environment filled with great amount of world class creative talents. - Work on a great AAA IP. - Great location downtown Montreal. Cons- Bioware Edmonton and Montreal symbiosis is broken. Lots of conflicts and bro culture.
- Lost over 13 leads (game design, art, audio, prog, senior core leads, etc) in 5 years at Bioware Montreal on Mass Effect. Edmonton lost only 3. It is clear that Edmonton has the bigger part of the stick when it comes to purge Leads and Producers who are not aligned with their leadership style. - Putting people on performance improvement program (PIP Program) is the new tactics to get rid of people. Once again more than 10 people in Montreal got slammed with this bureaucratic uppercut to let go people that are not bending to Edmonton leadership styles in the last revision cycle. This approach is used by the Montreal Leadership to purge the mess from the lack of vision cause by upper management in the last 4 years (throwing people under the bus to protect bad core management).- Renaming crunch to Finaling mode. Which means company pays for your lunch but you have only 30 minutes to eat and then getting back on the keyboard. Was lasting for over 2 months and was a real catastrophy. - Retaliation and harassment is sadly a reality. If you talk and ask questions you will be tag as a trouble maker and end up in a bad position.- HR won't help you out. They will deny the current harassment from Monreal management by ignoring and not documenting the facts. In other words if you leave don't talk. Just let it go... - Many benifits got cut due to too much time extension to get the game done.Advice to ManagementNot going to waste my breath on this one... Sadly they won't listen anyway.
