I don't see why he'd be wrong about that. The Qun runs on Insane Troll Logic anyway; it's not like they'd care what Krem has under the codpiece as long as he's fulfilling his duties under the Qun. He also thinks Cassandra would do well under the Qun. And she clearly thinks of herself as a woman. Wait, why are we debating this in a Mass Effect thread? I'm pretty sure he was referring specifically to her love of rules, or something similar. Didn't say anything about her as a warrior. I just played that scene the other day, and that's what I remember from it, anyway. And because Dragon Age and Mass Effect are basically synonymous. I mean, they aren't, but they're closely linked to one another enough to the point where Bioware models one game after the success of another.

Wait, why are we debating this in a Mass Effect thread?I've thought this a few times, but there didn't seem to be anything else going on worth mentioning. I'm sure a whole new batch of MEA concerns will arise with the next Demo Video. And from previews and hands on tomorrow.

I'm not sure if one of these technically would belong here, but I do have some concerns about Anrdomeda:
1. Will there eventually be a Gibbed Save Editor for Andromeda? As far as I know, retrieving individual save files of Xbox One games is impossible, but I do know how to get a PS4 save from my system to a flash drive. Eventually, workarounds were made to be able to gib the save files of the PS3 copies of 2 and 3's saves, but I don't see how that would help Andromeda's case since AFAIK The Xbox One wouldn't be able to do even that much. Plus, there's really no way to know until it comes out if a Gibbed Save Editor could be done with it. If it can be done, I really hope it can be because I like using them to play future playthroughs without worrying about stuff like money. Also, if one can be made, I hope it actually gets finished because I still have never found a completed version of Gibbed for 2 or 3 (especially 2, as I still can't click on half of the tabs such as Henchmen, Powers, Appearance, etc)
2. How will the trophies/achievements work on it? I was able to platinum all three of the original trilogy because they were actually pretty tame for a trophy list imo. I just hope I am able to platinum Andromeda too.

He also thinks Cassandra would do well under the Qun. And she clearly thinks of herself as a woman. Wait, why are we debating this in a Mass Effect thread? Well, Cassandra would just have to give up bashing stuff with swords. Bull may be overestimating her flexibility there, but he's assuming that she could follow a new set of rules. I think we're debating how capable Bio is of writing consistent lore.

Like, I know the stakes can't top the Reapers, but I can't shake this worry. And I know this is going to be a more "fish out of water" game - Humans coming to a new Galaxy. The devs have said it will be "lighter" in tone. I get it, you can't get darker than all organic life being wiped out. I'm sure the characters and settings will all be great, I just think the over-arching story won't be as interesting. I just want to care about the stakes I guess.
For a metaphor, the first movie in a series usually is about character setup and some conflict - the second movie is more about the villain. I am guessing that will be true here too.
Shephard always felt like a hero to me. He/She saved the galaxy. I want that same feeling for Ryder.

Well we have concern threads about almost every aspect of the game already, so sure, let's add Story to the list.
Personally, no I'm not, but my expectations aren't to the moon like they were with ME3 either. It depends on what you want really. Some fans just want a fun adventure space romp, with interesting and fun new characters, and an intriguing introduction to Andromeda and it's cultures. On the other hand there are some people who will settle for no less than writing on par with ME1 and DA:O. If you're a part of the latter, then you should probably accept that it's very likely that won't happen. But that doesn't mean you still can't get an entertaining story out of this. I feel confident we'll probably get a pretty good story, with some cringe here and there.
DA:I, for as much as people won't stop shitting on that game, had a good story before it's rushed and underwhelming climax, but at least it finished strong with Trespasser. In terms of characters, DA:I also had some actually great writing in that department.

Ok - I'm now cautiously optimistic about it and willing to be surprised in a good way. I'll frame it as a fun adventure space romp then, per your words. With a villain but it's more about exploration and discovery. That could be cool. And yeah, ME series has been more about good characters then overall story I guess.
Honestly, at the end of ME1, I'm not even sure I cared about the Reapers that much. More about Saren anyway. Takes a while to build that kind of energy.
P.S. DA:I looked great but it didn't capture me. Was so hard to not compare it to the Witcher 3 which I thought did things better.

I think if you compare Andromeda to the legacy of the original trilogy, you are going to set yourself up for disappointment. That's not to say that Andromeda won't be great (I think it will be), but it's going to be new and a fresh start.
So far, the biggest vibe I've been getting from Andromeda is similarities to the crew of the USS Enterprise. The banter with Ryder and the crew really draws a lot of similarities between Kirk, Spock, and the various other iconic characters of Star Trek.
What I'm expecting is a youthful, inexperienced, somewhat irresponsible adventure about finding oneself while also trying to do what's best for humanity. I think the game is going to dive into the idea of what it means to become a leader and what it means for others to believe in you and rely on you.
I don't believe MEA will ever be as epic in scale as the original trilogy, but I do believe it's going to be an exciting ride worth taking. It's a new chapter in the Mass Effect Universe and honestly I think that's the best way to approach this game. Go into it with an open mind and don't place too many expectations on it.

I expect that the story will be decent at least, although the story arc isn't meant to be as big as the Shep trilogy so I wouldn't be expecting any galaxy saving. We're only going to a small cluster in the galaxy, not the whole thing.
If BioWare's usual response to criticism is any indication, we should be seeing quite a bit of the villain in the main story. They tend to over compensate when addressing complaints, and how little Corypheus showed up was a complaint I recall of DA:I.

All good points. Feel a little better.
I've discovered my bottom line for a game I enjoy is that I feel like a hero/heroine. Whatever happens, I'm sure Bioware will make that happen.
And, I'm assuming this is a setup for another game (at least if not a trilogy) - right? I mean they have the tech/engine now so the sequel will be much easier to make.

If you ask me, I think it's very likely it's writing will be on par with Mass Effect 2. ME2's story was simplistic, more lighthearted, and personal. That seems to be the tone they're going for with ME:A, with the sense of exploration and discovery from ME1 to go with it.

Sorta. Yes.
I am glad the trilogy happened; I like the universe they created, yet were so careless with in the end of the original storyline. So, more story in the universe is something I am excited by. If it is pure fluff, well that won't matter to me because I won't have bought it yet.
If the story blows, I won't play the story. If the MP blows, sorry Biower but not even Origin On-the-House will get an install.
So, sorta worried in a positive way. Worried I might have to pay almost full price because you loons tell me it is actually a good SP.

I'm not concerned too much about the story itself. The Reapers were, after all was said and done, fairly two-dimensional and way less interesting than they were in ME1. This, combined with how Inquisition turned out, means I'm not really expecting a good plot.
What I am concerned about are the characters. After all, the characters are what will have the most impact on people.

The main story will almost certainly be adequate. And I say this as someone who thought ME2 and ME3 plots were barely hanging by a thread.
I think that's a realistic expectation from Bioware at this point. Great characters, increasingly improving gameplay, adequate main plot. And who knows, they might surprise us.

I keep seeing people worrying that the story will suffer from the fact that Bioware can't top the whole "the galaxy is doomed" thing that the Reapers brought to the original trilogy, so this comment isn't aimed specifically at the OP, but to a larger group within those interested in Andromeda.
High stakes are not created by the scale of the threat outside the core characters but by the intensity of the threat to the core characters. Whether that threat is external, like the Reapers, or internal, like a drug addiction, good stories come through the way the protagonists deal with the conflicts their individual threats create.
And good stories can come from threats of any type or size.
For example, which is the better story: the tv show Breaking Bad, or the movie Battlefield Earth? One deals with a threat of a decidedly larger scale than the other, but that threat is hardly determinative of overall quality.
None of this is to say that I expect Andromeda's story to be a masterpiece. I hope it is, but it's simply too early for anyone to know.
I guess I'm just trying to say that smaller scale stories can be just as, if not more, impactful than those of a larger scale.

I am worried about the story, but mostly because the Kett remind me too much of Halo 4. That, and Bioware hasn't really blown my mind with story telling since ME2. DAII was a letdown, ME3 was a massive disappointment, and Inquisition, while fine, wasn't quite up to par, in my eyes. Though, I haven't played the DLC yet. Hopefully that does the story justice, because it does have a lot to like.
I think the individual characters will probably be 50/40 like/meh with 10% loathe, (looking at you, Sera.)
The gameplay looks fun. I worry the open world will become tedious, as did Inquisition.
So... I'm expecting like... a C+ game? ME2 being a solid A, if not an A+. ME1 being a B+ or an A-.
Never rated games this way before, wtf am I doing...

I don't know whether that first sentence was coincidence or not, but Chris Schlerf (Halo 4 Lead Writer) was actually the lead writer on Mass Effect Andromeda (he has since ran off to join Bungie on Destiny). So the similarities between the Kett and the Forerunners isn't entirely surprising. I actually enjoyed Halo 4's story, which is what personally gives me hope for MEA's story. Hopefully, they aren't identical.

I can't really say whether Halo 4 was good or bad, but the tone was so drastically different that it really put me off. I guess the fact that the Halo guy isn't there anymore is a little bit of good news for me, and a little bit of bad news. Good, because I can distance myself from Halo. Bad because changing writers has always proven to be a complete mess.
