(OOC: For the battle "I recognize him from earlier today," A Turian who's wearing travelers gear said to everyone else. "You can trust him." It took Ben a minute to recognize him: Zahn Viratas he briefly fought with him last night. Damn good fighters Turians are. "How you doing Zahn?" Ben said smiling re leaved to see a friendly face in admist of the chaos. "Quite a group you have here." "Welcome aboard. We'll explain the current situation on the way." Zahn said A Quarian, a Drell, two Turians and a.... Human working for Cerberus?! Ben examined at the group that was huddled inside the war torn building, the tension was at its at the moment. Ben didn't know what was going on, but judging from his observations the group was suspicious of the Cerberus woman. "Being the enemy of my enemy does not make you a friend. It makes you a liability," the Cerberus woman said, "You have proven yourselves to be reckless and irresponsible. Were it not for my quick reflexes and good judgement, two of you would be dead, one at my hand. If I was a Cerberus operative armed with an explosive, the rest of you would be too, for approaching a potential threat with little or no caution. I have seen nothing to suggest you would be any benefit to me, or that any of you are capable of leading. I have no intentions of following orders. There is a target, and the target will be dropped with a single shot. Nothing more. Do not get in my way, and do not slow me down." There were corpses located behind the group, Cerberus agents from the looks of it. "Odd." Ben thought "There were no Alliance reports regarding Cerberus agents on the battlefield." "We all heard the Staff Sergeant. While I wouldn't mind putting the leader up to a vote, I think it's best for him to lead right now." Zahn replied A leader for what? What exactly is going on here? Ben rubbed his head, feeling a wound on top as he wiped away the blood he analyzed the standoff. This was getting nowhere, the war is won and people are at each others throats? "Listen!" Ben shouted "I really don't know what the hell is going on here, but the war is over. Maybe the woman is working for Cerberus maybe not. I don't know, but and I'm sure it's due to my elation at the fact that the war is over that we trust this woman." Ben sighed, the last thing the galaxy needs is more conflict. He really hoped that this woman wasn't going to stab them in the back. "If you guys are still undecided on who the leader is, then I'll lead." Ben said "Though I need some intel on what the hell kind of mission we're on." After the conversation the group head deeper into the building, apparently they are supposed to hunt down some Cerberus agent sounds simple enough until they were ambushed by Cerberus forces. Ben got into cover scanning for the nearest target, a Centurion to peak out of cover and charge towards Ben while firing in attempt to get him out of cover. Ben managed to unload him easily with a few bullets he then took out his frag grenade and managed to stick a grunt killing him and two more of his buddies with him. Ben got out of cover and blasted an engineer in the process of setting up his turret from the corner of his eye it seems that the rest of the group were cleaning up as well. After the fight the group moved on though the Turian who was member of the Turian military severely wounded a Dragoon and left him dying of his wounds. Ben stared at the Dragoon who was coughing up his own blood. Cerberus has killed countless people in the name of human supremacy. Ben felt tempted to let him die, but a surge of generosity took over him. The last thing Ben wanted was more conflict, he wants to go home and forget everything and enjoy life maybe even find out if his parents are still alive and contact them and apologize for everything, he wanted to connect with Kalia and go on weird adventures again. Ben shook his head, knelt down and took out some medigel. "Here." Ben said to the wounded Dragoon. "The war is over, go to your family." Ben gave the medigel and got up. "Don't make me regret this." He said as he followed the group. (OOC: Serza)

The streets outside were quiet, as they should be. After a short while, they decided to stick to staggered column as they travelled the short distance to the comms outpost, with Sar taking the point on the left of the formation. Despite the peaceful outcome of the stand off minutes earlier, she felt like staying away from the ex-Cerberus was the best course of action. Thinking about the make up of the squad, she realized only half of it could be trusted when it came to small unit tactics in urban terrain, one of them being Ssgt. Hadrian and the other being the N7. The other Turian, Viratas and the Drell, Feun were mercenaries, used to working alone, and only the Ancestors knew what the Nemesis in their team was taught. Every now and then, her helmet radio picked up something - static, for the most part, with individual sounds distinguishable every now and then. Presumably, someone was trying to reach her, but she had no way of knowing who it was and what they wanted. The EMP was probably clearing up. It wasn't before long that they arrived to the building - the outpost was on the first floor, with the stairs being on the right, no more than half a dozen yards from their entry point. Sar took up position at the door, covering the corridor ahead while allowing everyone else to pass behind her and away from her Lancer's muzzle. It took much longer than it should before she was patted on the shoulder as the "last man" signal. Of course it was the human male - N7s and the Quarian SF shared some aspects of CQB. There it was. The door, handle blown off, but still on it's hinges. "Stack up," she commanded, taking the second position and watching everyone else follow her lead, Hadrian first and Walker third right behind her, with Viratas and their own friendly neighborhood Nemesis bringing up the rear. Surprisingly, the Drell stood right in front of the door, charging up his barrier to just smash through like a cannonball. "What is the bosh'tet thinking? Does he know nothing?" Sar thought. She raised her hand in a signal to hold, and when the Drell complied, she pulled out one of her Arc-bangers and looked at him suggestively. A nod. Good. Simple enough. Bang and clear, unknown number of hostiles. It was always better to presume the worst, which would be a room full of Cerberus. And that was exactly what the Arc-bangers were created for. Full rooms. She let Caelus open the door slightly, removed the pin and threw the banger in the room, rapidly returning to her previous position. BANG. Kato smashed the door open, charging straight. Caelus followed him. Sar was in half a second after the explosion, clearing left. One guy, directly ahead. Adjust point of aim. Press the trigger. The guy's head exploded from a burst of high-velocity rounds before he ever got a chance to fight back. She did a quick check behind the door, which stood between the doorway and the corner she was trying to clear. Nothing. She turned right, towards the left side of the room two seconds after the explosion. By then, there was a dead Guardian and a severely wounded Dragoon in the center of the room, and two bosh'tets in process of being shot to death by everyone who came in behind Sar. And then, within ten seconds, everything fell dead silent again. The N7 walked up to the Dragoon, drawing a medigel packet from his armor: "Here. The war is over, go to your family. Don't make me regret this." WHAT?! Sar felt a switch flip. That Cerberus agent would kill every last one of them given a chance. Now the human was letting him go. The Phalanx left it's holster with lethal precision for the second time that day. But this time, she felt it go off. Target neutralized. When Sar realized just what just happened, she lowered the weapon. Instincts were what kept her alive this long. And they did just that, once again. She looked at their Nemesis friend. Was she angry with Sar, for having stolen a kill? "Friendly, coming in!" her eyes turned back towards the door, switching to the assault rifle hanging on her chest. A Quarian came through the door, holding an assault rifle. Ghost. "Hisha...?" Sar nodded, "Well. You don't mess around, do you, ma'am."

s29.postimg.org/yzqk1i7iv/Saren.jpgZahn Viratas Turian Male Age: 23 Mercenary, Traveler, and WriterEveryone took care of the mess. Zahn didn't have to do anything after all. He walked inside after making sure there weren't any more Cerberus troops waiting to sneak up on them. "Here," Ben said. "The war is over, go to your family. Don't make me regret this." Idiot. Zahn knew exactly what was going to happen. You let them go, they come back, then they try to kill you in the future. Zahn was going to shoot him, but Sar was one step ahead of him. He was starting to think highly of her already. She knew the risks of allowing an enemy to escape as well. Ben on the other hand, is either naive or tired of this spirit forsaken war. They were going to have a talk when this was over. Then another Quarian come in saying "Friendly coming in" while holding an assault rifle. "Hisha?" Sar nodded, "Well. You don't mess around, do you, ma'am." Another comes in the fray. From the way Sar spoke, they must be acquaintances. That answers the question of who she was. Zahn hoped that she would be easy to work with unlike their Nemesis friend. She was cooperating just fine, but she was making it more complicated than it needed to be. Zahn was able to work with a known serial killer that one time they had to team up against two dozen Blue Sun Agents. He didn't give Zahn any trouble the entire time. "You're late to the party," Zahn said. "But we've still got room for you. You're welcome to join us in cracking the skulls of these Cerberus punks." Zahn pointed to their Nemesis friend. "Except her. She's fine." OOC: Yeah, that one time with the serial killer actually happened. Like Zahn's Bio says, he gets into many ridiculous encounters. GeneralXIV Almost wrote Laughing Man on accident.

Skyla kept behind the group most of the way. If they decided to turn on her for whatever reason, they would have to spin around to shoot, whereas they would be directly in front of her, so she would have the clear advantage. As it happened, her suspicions were disproven. They did not shoot her. The group breached the room in a slightly different manner to which she would have done if she was doing it alone, but it seemed to do the job. She did notice, however, that the newcomer had not only failed to kill one of the Cerberus operatives, but actually gave them medigel and told them to go home to their family. She almost shot him right there and then for his stupidity, and would have shot the Dragoon if it wasnt for the people in her way. Luckily, the Quarian seemed to take care of things, but that didnt change the fact that the newcomer had done something completely ridiculous. "If you want to get shot in the back, I will lend you a bullet," she hissed to the new arrival, "Otherwise, kill your targets." One more thing which would make her doubt the competency of the team and she would be taking control, by force if she had to. She had no patience with people like him. Let your enemy live, and give him a way of recovering from his injuries. If the Dragoon was smart, he would have had his whip wrapped around the soldiers neck after being granted such an easy opportunity. "Friendly, coming in!" Skyla raised her pistol in the direction of the voice. Announcing you were a friendly, just to start shooting, would be a good tactic after all. As it happened, it was another Quarian, and she seemed familiar with the one who had threatened her in the triage station. She narrowed her eyes. "Youre late to the party," pointed out one of the Turians, "But weve still got room for you. Youre welcome to join us in cracking the skulls of these Cerberus punks." He then pointed back at her and said, "Except her. Shes fine." Fine? Fine? Did the Turian actually trust her to some extent? It seemed impossible. She had done nothing to indicate she was to be trusted. She had not even told them her name. She had no high expectations for the team, given the evidence she had been provided with so far. It was then she heard a quiet moan from inside the room. Her head snapped around, placing the sound almost instantly. She strode across the room, to one of the Cerberus operatives who did not seem quiet dead enough for her liking. He looked to be barely conscious. Cerberus usually operated in cells. If their plan had something to do with Alliance communications, there could be others in the cell still alive. She needed to find out what they wanted, and how many of them there were. She hauled him to his feet, slamming him against the wall. "Hold him," she ordered the nearest member of the team, the drell, "We can find out what he knows." Skyla activated her Omni-tool, calibrating the jet boosters on her armor so only the hand stabilizers would fire when she activated them. She tested them, a quick burst of flame blooming from the booster on her palm. "How many of you are there?" she hissed. Even by her standards, being interrogated with fire by an enemy where the only expression was delivered by a glowing red eyepiece, and whose voice was considerably darker thanks to her voice synthesizer, would be intimidating to some extent. In an almost-conscious state, however, she expected it would make him talk without too much effort.

"Fine you psychos! I'll tell you whatever you want, just keep that crazy bitch away from me." Finally. There were few things more satisfying for Caelus than the sound of a Cerberus agent squealing in fear. Sam and Kato had done their jobs well, and now it was his turn. He turned away from the door he had been watching and strode up to the naked human in the chair. The human looked up at him, terror across his eyes. Cael just stared at him for a few seconds, trying to appear as menacing as possible. He then spoke. "Ready to talk? Good. First question: what were you and your terrorist friends doing here?" "We were ordered to recover anti-Reaper armaments." There was a slight quaver in the human's voice. He had obviously never been interrogated by a turian soldier before. "We came here to eavesdrop on Alliance communications." "Anti-Reaper armaments, you say? Did you recover any useful intel?" At this question, the human hesitated. Cael sighed and glanced at Sam. "I could always step out of the room for a moment..." "No!" the human yelped. "I'll talk. We obtained some files talking about an experimental battle tank. Equipped with scaled-down Thanix cannons." Thanix cannons. One of the prouder feats of turian engineering, and a vital asset in the war effort. Cael couldn't imagine such a device being mounted on a simple tank, but then, he was no expert when it came to tech. The human continued. "We haven't been able to pin down the exact location, but we know it's somewhere in the vicinity." The turian tilted his head to the side. "Interesting. How many more operatives are there and where are they stationed?" "Outside of this team, there were three others. They should-" "We already took out two at the nearby triage station" Cael interrupted. The human's eyes widened, but he continued. "Well, there's only one more that I know of. He was located at the Forward Operating Base last I checked." "Shit." Cael turned towards the console and addressed Neda. "Any luck on the comms, ma'am? We should probably report this intel to the FOB as soon as possible." He glanced back at the human. "And how should we deal with this Cerberus scum?" ( smilesja)

Ben's conscience always acts up at the wrong time. He was tired yet feeling oddly generous, the war was over and Ben didn't want to inflict more bloodshed so he decided to spare the soldier. He was wounded and wouldn't harm anyone, the radios were still unresponsive and Cerberus was all but destroyed. Apparantely the Quarian disagreed. WHAT?! Sar shouted nearly making Ben jump as he followed the group out of the exit. She rushed past Ben and executed the Dragoon. "What the fuck?!" Ben wanted say, but through that helmet of hers, Ben could tell she's not in the mood for talking at the moment. He decided to drop it for now. After a brief conversation, the group decided that the best course of action was to repair the comm relay while taking care of Cerberus forces. Ben and Sal were to head towards the comm relay and repair it. "Got some limited experience ma'am." Ben told the Quarian, I'll see what I can do though. Once they reached the comm relay, Ben took out his Omni-Tool and began to upload a program which would give access to the relay it was a gift from one of his contacts. A Drell he fought with one on the evacuation of one of the colony planets two weeks ago. After 5 minutes, Ben was able to get into the relay. "Got in!" Ben yelled. "How about you?" "It... just happened, Ghost." Sar just watched after she holstered the Phalanx. There was a survivor, and she was very interested what the others would do to this one. The pistol was but a quickdraw away... Thankfully, the human man was the only one foolish enough. Their own Nemesis was especially fuming after that blunder... And now Ghost was here, which certainly reduced her fears to a negligible level. Protecting him somehow became her number one objective. The others certainly didn't stand around, and it was easy to foresee imminent torture. Sar waved them off into a corner with a gesture of her hand and faced the damaged comm link. The QEC seemed beyond salvation with their meager resources and skills at first glance, but the much less technical radio relay was much more likely to be repairable - if it wasn't completely fried by the EMP yet. After all, waves of static continued to be broken up every now and then, ever since they began their movement to this hole. "Hey. Human. Look at the software," she muttered under her breath, to herself more than anyone, while giving the panel a proper tap with a fist, which released the sorry hunk of metal from it's place. "So, what were you doing since you left the OP?" she spoke on a private link to Ghost. "You know Ma'am. Making friends, then planning how to kill them. Nothing special," he replied in jest. "That's dark. Glad to see you're alright. Do tell me when those clowns are done... doing whatever it is they're doing, would you?" "Yes. Looks to me like he's wishing he dressed... a little warmer," her spotter thought aloud, with a smile evident in his voice. He did always like to joke about the darker things. Getting shot. Blown up. Spaced. Those things. To many, he seemed sick in the head. But if anyone got to know him like Sar did, they knew it to be a coping mechanism. They were fighting for the continued survival of countless species, after all. As it was, she felt no need to find out what he meant by that quip. "Hmm. There's a lose wire here. Someone shot the thing with a mass accelerator. Do you still have those spares somewhere?" No response. Instead, a hand next to her faceplate, holding several pristine wires, used for bypassing security. Ghost was better at this, but busy listening to the... interrogation in the corner. Sar turned her head to look at him. His body language suggested shock, making her glad to turn off the helmet speakers: "At least he's getting warmer..." he pronounced without a grain of jest to it, his voice full of disgust and even worry. Whatever was going on, it wasn't very pleasant. Sar just took the wire and solded it to the one somebody shot off. The next step was to find out where it went... "They're done. By the Ancestors, they're done. You may want to listen, ma'am," a sickened voice pulled her away. Sar decided to not reply. Instead, she pulled her recon drone, activated it, and set in instructions for it to be close enough to eavesdrop on what Staff Sergeant Hadrian had to say. "Ready to talk? Good. First question: what were you and your terrorist friends doing here?" Good question. The Turian certainly had a mind for important facts. Sar continued to look for that loose wiring's proper connection... "We were ordered to recover anti-Reaper armaments," a completely scared voice replied. Whatever the Nemesis and the Drell did, he wasn't about to say no. "We came here to eavesdrop on Alliance communications." Bosh'tets. Probably listening to a lot of the transmissions they made throughout the operation. "Anti-Reaper armaments, you say? Did you recover any useful intel?" Oh, great. Whatever was strong enough to defeat a Reaper, it was definitely bad news if left alone. Securing it would be a great idea. "I could always step out of the room for a moment..." Sar's stomach rose up a little bit. Ancestors willing, the Sergeant was only joking, but... "No!" sounded what was definitely a plea of mercy. "I'll talk. We obtained some files talking about an experimental battle tank. Equipped with scaled-down Thanix cannons." Thanix cannons?! What crazy bosh'tet thought that was a good idea?! "We haven't been able to pin down the exact location, but we know it's somewhere in the vicinity." Not good enough. Somewhere in the vicinity might be right under the window, as much as across half this wasteland. At least some good news were that Sar found the connection and soldered it together. It seemed like a power cable, leaving her with one more thing to do: double check the device visually. "Interesting. How many more operatives are there and where are they stationed?" Great question. Never underestimate enemy numbers. Always appear weak when you are strong and vice versa. The humans even had an ancient treatise on the matter, one of the few of their books Sar ever read. The response was good. Three Cerberus operatives unaccounted for that weren't a part of this team. It would be three, if Lieutenant Commander Viratas didn't kill one, and hold another long enough for the strange Nemesis to finish it. One last, at a FOB, down the street to the west, probably the one they already knew about. The comm link seemed intact. She looked at the human helping her, who suddenly shouted "Got in!" With a little luck, that meant it was operational. There were certainly no problems on her end. "Any luck on the comms, ma'am? We should probably report this intel to the FOB as soon as possible. And how should we deal with this Cerberus scum?" Sar stood up, ready to... render judgement. Play God. One of the things she certainly wasn't. What she was, however, was the ranking NCO in this ragtag group, and LtCdr. Viratas seemed uninterested in a leadership role. The hard decision fell to her. "Mr. Merciful is still working on the comms. EMP willing, the whole thing will work. As for the Cerberus..." she stopped for a while. "You," she pointed at the Nemesis, "Sam, is it." This was not right. No matter who the naked man on the chair was affiliated with, he was a prisoner of war. But he was also a Cerberus operative. The very group that attacked the Migrant Fleet. The very group they were at war with. The group that nearly ended up condemning all sentient life in the galaxy to extinction. "Make it quick, clean and painless." And just like that, Sar felt like she needed to find a cleanroom and have a shower. She just wished the Ancestors would forgive her.
OOC: I know, I know... Trust me to delay for a week. I won't make excuses. One thing though, I just went into some really, really dark places, and I'm sure both Sar and Ghost wish it's worth it. At least one of them may or may not be questioning their decisions... Neither Sar, nor Private Rael'Gazu, or Ghost, are evil. While one is an NPC, they both signed up to protect life, not execute prisoners of war. Since anyone can use Ghost - he definitely won't be joking about his superior ordering an execution. He will likely question her leadership now. For now, he is a part of the team. Xesthan

Zahn Viratas Turian Male Age: 23 Mercenary, Traveler, and Writer Zahn heard everything. If the Nemesis was going kill the prisoner, that was her decision. He had no sympathy for Cerberus. He heard about how they turned people to into husks. No one deserved that. He didn't think everyone who worked for them were pieces of shit, there are good people in Cerberus and he didn't take any pleasure in the idea of good people getting killed, but they got what was coming for them. One of the only times Zahn had ever thought of Cerberus in a positive light was when they did something about the Collectors, even if it was for their own selfish agendas. And they did bring Shepard back, without him, they all might as well have been dead. Then he reminded himself of all the terrible things they've done and any positive esteem he held them to for that moment was gone. Zahn stepped outside and looked around. Maybe when this was over, he could go back to traveling, but if he still needed, then perhaps he'll stay for a while. For now, Zahn was still needed here to fight. His decision wasn't relevant at the moment. There was work that needed to be done. OOC: GeneralXIV

It took less than a second for her to raise her pistol and shoot the captured Cerberus operative in the head. She gave no warning, no words about him making peace with his god, and nothing more than a single shot. And then there was one less terrorist in the world. She holstered her pistol, but kept her hand close to it. Skyla stood silently as she contemplated the situation. Thanix cannons were powerful weapons. Her first priority was reconnaissance, scouting the FOB and perhaps trying to get eyes on the tank. She needed to get higher. If she was on her own, the process would be considerably slower. Scouting, infiltrating, assassinating. But she was not alone, and she could provide information and sniper cover from a long distance while the soldiers saved her a little time, and provided their enemies with a target to make it easier for her to pick them off. She walked out without a word, pushing past the Turian outside as she started to survey the buildings nearby for one of a suitable height. [OOC: @tzeenchianapostrophe ]

Cael stood by and watched as Sam executed the helpless prisoner. His eyes rested on the corpse for a moment before he turned and nodded respectfully at Neda. He had no qualms about this decision. The human was a terrorist and traitor, not a soldier fulfilling his duties. He deserved no mercy. Cael turned and approached the communications terminal. The human had said he "got it." Presumably that meant it was now functional. The turian interfaced his Omni-tool with the comm system, adjusted the settings to transmit a signal to the FOB and spoke. "Forward Operations Base, this is Staff Sergeant Hadrian of the 43rd Marine Division. Do you read me? Over." There was a brief delay before the turian heard a feminine voice reply. "Roger. This is the FOB. Authenticate. Over." At last! Caelus provided the proper authentication code. The radio operator accepted his code and asked him to state his business. "I need to speak directly with Admiral Viratas. I have some intel that will be of interest to him. Over." Cael knew Viratas was stationed at the FOB, and given present company, he was the obvious person to contact. This Thanix tank was clearly not common knowledge, and Cael wanted to minimize the chance of that knowledge falling into the wrong hands. "Hold." Cael waited patiently for about a minute, until another voice came on the radio. "Staff Sergeant Hadrian, this is Admiral Viratas. You can relay your information now. Over." "Sir, I have reason to believe there is a Cerberus agent operating at the FOB. He's likely attempting to steal intelligence concerning a Thanix-mounted tank. Over." There was another delay, and then Viratas replied. "Cerberus? Where did you get this information? Over." "We encountered two groups of Cerberus troops. One at a triage station, the other at this comm station. We... interrogated the survivor, and he said that the last remaining operative was located at the FOB. Over." "Roger that. I'll instruct security to do a sweep of the area. He won't stay hidden for long. How much information did they recover about the tank? Over." "They were able to determine that it's in this area, but weren't able to pin down a location. Over." "We can't risk those weapons falling into the wrong hands. Staff Sergeant, how many men do you have with you? Over." "Six, sir. An N7, two quarian marines, a drell mercenary, a Cerberus defector, and, er, Lieutenant-Commander Viratas. Sir. Over." "Zahn is with you?" There was a sound of surprise in the old man's voice, but he quickly regained his composure. "Staff Sergeant, I need you to track down that tank before it falls into the wrong hands. I'm transmitting the last known location now." Sure enough, the coordinates appeared on Cael's Omni-tool, indicating a location somewhere in the north. "Locate the tank and bring it back to base. Do you have any questions? Over." "Just one, sir. My CO... Lieutenant Agados... I haven't been able to speak with her since my radio went dead. Do you know if she's alive? Over." Cael prayed that the commander of his platoon had found more luck in the field than his squad had. "Agados?" There was a pause, and Cael feared the worst. But then... "Yes, I remember that name. She reported in shortly after that red wave hit." Cael breathed a sigh of relief. "I'll inform her that you've been reassigned. Anything else? Over." "No, sir. I'll report back when the mission is completed. Over" "Roger that. Good luck, Hadrian. Viratas out." Cael turned to the others. "Well. It seems we have our orders." He looked around the room. "Where did Sam go?" (( smilesja . I hope everything I did here makes sense.))

As the conversation was going on, Ben managed to contact Alliance Headquarters. "This is N-7 Solider Benjamin Walker. Come in Alliance HQ!" Ben said as calm as he could.
After about a minute of waiting, a weak signal managed get through.
"This is Alliance HQ." The voice said, much to Ben's relief. "Your connection is very weak at the moment."
"Yeah we're barely piecing it together." Ben replied "We have information that you'll want to hear."
"Go ahead Walker."
Ben took a glance at the group and to the radio "the group I'm with captured Alliance officers and they're claiming that they were ordered to recover anti-Reaper armaments and to eavesdrop in Alliance communications! And they also..." Ben gulped still stunned at the revelation of the mercenaries plans. "Have files for a tank equipped with Thannix cannons."
"What was that?" Alliance HQ shouted through the static "you're breaking up!"
"I repeat." Ben said his tone sounding impatient "The mercenaries have files for a super tank equipped with Thannix Cannons!"
The radio went dead.
"Damn it lost signal!" Ben spat "Sar could we boost the signal?"

The gunshot shook Sar worse than anything she ever heard. She expected the Nemesis to lack hesitation, but the violence of action was still overwhelming. Without a comment, the ex-Cerberus sniper raced out the door. Sar took a few shaken breaths before following her to the corridor outside. With a hole in the wall, she had a good look at the street outside. With no chairs nearby, she settled for a piece of debris and let her legs give in. She had survived her fair share of situations gone bad, but never before did she order an execution. It was againist every rule - moral or otherwise. Usually, rules could be bent. But morality couldn't. Her memory wandered towards her first kills. Three pirates. None ever had a chance, despite holding her captive. She infiltrated them, her capture planned. Two in the cockpit, dead before they could react. And then the third. A Batarian, holding a young Quarian hostage. The girl completely helpless. Reegar ordered her to cloak for that breach. When her team confronted the last enemy, she flanked. She could still remember the kill. Her conscience, striking as they evacuated the ship. That was years ago. That young Marine, conflicted about killing, was clearly gone. She died during the Reaper War and was reborn an uncaring monster, ready to do anything to win. And now, this monster regretted what she had become. But she still had a duty. "High Ground, Guardian Six. Come in High Ground," she tried the radio. "Guardian Six, you are coming in three by three. Send traffic," someone replied. "Guardian Six, reporting no casualties. Job done, evac not required. Over." "Understood, evacuation not required. Elaborate, over," the Yaska inquired. "Have intelligence of a high value target in the area. Seven-strong ad hoc unit, two Hierarchy, one Alliance, two unofficial operatives. Will update Admiral through secure channel. Over." "Good copy. High Ground will relay to Overlord. Do you need resupply, over." "Negative. High Ground, can you relay me to Chief Engineer Neda on the Iktomi?" No answer. Instead, the radio made a sound indicating channel recipient has changed. "Chief Engineer Neda to Guardian Six. How can I help you, over." Dad. She hadn't heard his voice in over two years now, due to the constant service and medbay stays. Their duties were simply incompatible... Sar switched her external sound off, leaving her completely mute to the world around. "Dad. It's Sar. I just... I..." Her voice broke, unable to do anything but sob into the radio... "It's ok, girl. You can tell me." "I... ordered... an execution, dad..." she managed between sobs. The radio went silent for a moment. Then... "It's alright. We can talk about it when you get back. You are coming back, right?" "Sorry dad. There is still more work down here. We... the humans did something. Reapers are defeated, but there is still work down here." Dead silence. The signal crashed again. She could hear a voice from the room. The N7 human. "Sar could we boost the signal?" Sar raced to him: "I don't know where you heard that, but it's Hisha from now on," she spat in his face, trying to mask her true mood with an angry tone before moving on to the transmitter once more.
OOC: It's not really nice to her, is it. One way or another, this is how she reacts to the screwup she just made. I'm not sure how many more of you need to contact someone, but I know Kato wanted something about becoming an official contractor with the Alliance. The Turians reported to their leadership, and I'm not sure what else Ben might need. I also decided to stop reminding you in the discussion, and just roll with the fact you're still calling Sar by her first name. Probably should add that nickname to the character background thingy in each post. One way or another, don't feel bad about it, roll with it. Xesthan (It's you right)

Zahn Viratas Turian Male Age: 23 Mercenary, Traveler, and Writer Zahn thought about telling his dad he was alright, but the Staff Sergeant took care of it. The Nemesis pushed towards Zhan and surveyed the buildings. Zahn decided to attempt to get to break the ice, as humans say. Maybe she'll have a reason to trust him, at least a little bit, and it might her make easier to work with. "You must be wondering why I said that you were 'fine' back there," he said to the Nemesis. "Considering that you haven't done anything significant enough to earn my trust. On top of that, you were a former Cerberus agent. For all I know, you could be planning how to back stab us when the opportunity presents itself, but I doubt it. Right now, the reason I do trust you is because you haven't given me a reason to distrust you. It's going to take more than Nemesis armor for me to assume you are our enemy." Zahn pointed at the paint on her armor "If I had to guess, you painted it to show you aren't associated with Cerberus. Am I wrong?" OOC: I checked Skyla's character post. It makes these evaluations easier. I completely forgot about the paint. GeneralXIV

Apparently the Turian thought speaking to her was a good idea. Still, it seemed he was not as stupid as she first thought, although he was still being unwise and trusting her. "No," she replied. He was not wrong with his assessment. She turned away from him again and focused on the buildings. She found one of a suitable size, but the entrance was blocked by debris, although the second floor seemed to be clear. The glass had shattered, however. She stepped back, and took a running jump, using her boosters to propel herself on to the second floor. She landed in a roll, and started to move towards the stairs so she could get to the roof. Turning left when a sign prompted her, she scaled the first set of stairs by boosting from the bottom to the top, and continued to do likewise as she made her way to the top of the tower. There were several corpses of people who had fallen victim to the Reapers on the stairs, like they had tried to evacuate the building but were too slow. They had been killed by husks, most likely. When she reached the roof, she realized part of the building had been destroyed, and even melted in places, by the power of a Reaper cannon, so had to boost up to the very top, as it would have been inaccessible otherwise. Skyla started to make a little sniper nest for herself. She fired one of her flashbang drones down in the stairwell so she could be sure no one would be sneaking up on her, and laid down as she rested her Widow against the top of the roof and deployed her tripod. After surveying city around the building, it was relatively easy to get eyes on the FOB, despite the smoke clouding some of the skyline. She adjusted the scope of her weapon to increase magnification so she could see the people in the base clearer, and started looking for anyone who looked suspicious. Cerberus were well-known for their agents being essentially undetectable, but she knew what to look out for. No actor was seamless in adopting their roles, even if it would take something like a group of well-armed soldiers heading towards the FOB to cause them to abandon their characters and act abnormally. They would slip up, and when they did, a shot between the eyes would be waiting for them. She had the perfect spot, even if the conditions were less-than-perfect for shooting a target at a distance. The N7 tried to use the comms, but apparently the signal had died again. He asked Sar for assistance, and, after snapping at him, she went back to work on the console. Cael turned his attention to the drell, who appeared to be typing a message on his Omni-tool. Once that was finished, Kato sat cross-legged on the floor and closed his eyes, presumably trying to meditate. The allied Nemesis was nowhere to be seen. That was concerning. Sam might have assisted him and the other thus far, but Cael still didn't trust her. He decided to follow Zahn outside. As he approached, Cael saw the Nemesis surveying the buildings. She muttered something to Zahn that Cael didn't quite catch, then used her boosters to propel herself on to another destroyed building before disappearing from view. He would have followed, but at this point he couldn't think of any conceivable reason for the agent to betray them. Not yet, anyway. He instead turned to Zahn. This turian was clearly younger than Cael himself, yet had somehow achieved the rank of Lieutenant-Commander. There was likely a story there. Maybe Cael would ask about it later. "I look forward to serving with you throughout the course of this operation, sir. We should probably get moving as soon as possible." He glanced back in the direction he had come from. "Quite the band of warriors we've got here. If everyone pulls their weight, this mission should go smoothly. Not sure about the ex-Cerberus, though. She doesn't strike me as the type to work with a team. What do you think? Should we trust her?" (( smilesja))

"What the hell?!" Ben shouted. What is this Quarian's problem? "Okay Hisha, whatever! I need you to boost the signal! It's becoming weak!" Ben suspected that the Sal or Hisha has been suffering from PTSD. He's seen the mood swings that veteran N7s go through when they were at therapy. Ben still suffers nightmares from blowing up a family in his last N7 mission. Sometimes Ben wondered why he came back. Turning to his comrades Ben asked "What's her problem?" Serza

She felt the urge to kick the device. The stupid machine that died when she needed it to work. But she didn't. Instead, Sar brought up the Omni-tools diagnostic tools to see where the problem was. Considering she was good enough at wires and connections, there was nothing physical - she had just fixed that aspect. When the tools returned a blank error log, she slid the screen left to switch to the EMP measurement program. No ripples of significance were logged. Whatever this was, it didn't come from the pulsing electromagnetic field still present over the barren wasteland of a city - and there was one way to test it's effects. "Ghost, radio check, come in," she spoke to the radio. "Five by five, ma'am. PRRs are functional." "Acknowledged. This is a jammer, and it's only affecting long range comms. We need to find it." Taking a deep breath, Sar turned around to the remainder of what now was a task force: "Listen up! Whatever is blocking comms is artificial in nature. Someone put it up to deny communications between the surface and orbit. If we want any support, we must find and disable the jammer. There's enemy in the city and a fleet in orbit that can't fire blind, so let's bring the link back up!" She took a brief pause. Everyone's attention was aimed at her, waiting for whatever else she had to say. "Staff Sergeant Hadrian. I want you to lead everyone here -" she made a gesture to the room "- to the square south of here. There's a large statue and remains of trees. Grid reference is 142-047. Me and Ghost will move north to a smaller square, trying to find our friendly neighbor Nemesis along the way. Personal radios seem unaffected, so the best guess is this is a radio flooding long range frequencies with static. We can triangulate whatever is transmitting and find it that way. Don't stray out of PRR range, Sergeant. Any questions?" She didn't wait for the questions before telling Ghost what to do: "Survey the surrounding buildings for good sniper positions. This person... has it out for Cerberus." She could feel goosebumps just thinking about it. She needed a mission. Something to busy herself with. Like a search. "She's probably trying to get eyes on the FOB, so let's start with those. Scan short range frequencies for her if you can." Sar turned back to the Turian Marine in front of her to answer questions. Soon enough, she would move out with Ghost to find the missing member of their ragtag band and then hopefully find their way to what her map described as 'Manchester square'...
OOC: It took me a while. I'd rather not speak of the reason why. There is, however, one thing that should be said: When DD's turn comes up, he can PM me with the questions Caelus has - written in character, pretty please - if there are any. I'll then give him the in-character answers, so he can move on with them without me having to do another turn back here. We spent enough time at the current location. Xesthan

Zahn Viratas Turian Male Age: 23 Mercenary, Traveler, and Writer Zahn watched the Nemesis run towards a building. "Good talk," he whispered to himself. That didn't last long. He thought about throwing a tracer on her to keep track of her in case trouble comes, but if she found out, then there would be more trust issues. Caelus walked outside. Caelus glanced back in the direction he had come from. "Quite the band of warriors we've got here. If everyone pulls their weight, this mission should go smoothly. Not sure about the ex-Cerberus, though. She doesn't strike me as the type to work with a team. What do you think? Should we trust her?" "I think we should," Zahn said. "I wouldn't dismiss her on the basis of being an ex-Cerberus agent. Miranda Lawson and Jacob Taylor were as well and they've contributed much to the war effort. If this Nemesis is anything like them, she has to have seen how messed up Cerberus and the Illusive Man really are. "Make no mistake, I won't turn a blind eye if shows any signs of double crossing us. We can't afford to take any risks and I won't let the mission fail because my carelessness. If we have to fight her, then that's the way it has to be. Let's just hope it does not come to that." GeneralXIV

Skyla heard voices from the street below. She sighed, and realized the 'team' would want to know what she was doing. The team who seemed more occupied with talking than actually doing their job. They were useful, but she was unsure whether their usefulness was worth the frustration. She tagged the FOB with a navpoint, and surveyed the streets leading to it. She avoided those which were either blocked or close to being blocked by debris, so she could plot the fastest route to their target and avoid the team taking wrong turns, which seemed likely. It wasnt exactly a long distance, but with the city being in its current state, it was better to not take chances. She took one last glance down the scope of her weapon, just to make sure that nothing else had changed in the FOB, then stood up from her little sniper nest. She climbed down from her position, and vaulted over the rail of the stairwell and activated her boosters in time to slow herself down before hitting the ground. Skyla exited the building through the same window she had entered through, and used her boosters again to slow her momentum so she landed gently beside the Turians outside. She activated her Omni-tool, and sent the navpoint to both of them, along with the route to take and her radio frequency should they need to contact her. Turians, being the most militaristic race in the galaxy, were the obvious choices to send the data to. "I have plotted the route you will take to the FOB," she told the Turians, "The building provides a good view of the objective. I have sent you my frequency. When Cerberus operatives are undercover, they are very hard to spot. They may not break character even when you arrive. I will notify you of any armed humans in the FOB and anyone who is acting suspiciously, and kill them the moment they reveal themselves." [OOC: @tzeenchianapostrophe ]

There was a slight pause before Zahn replied. "I think we should," he said. Make no mistake, I won't turn a blind eye if shows any signs of double crossing us. Let's just hope it does not come to that." “I’ll trust your judgement, sir.” Cael said, nodding respectfully. Zahn’s response was a tad idealistic for Cael’s liking, but at least the other turian recognized the threat. “If the human does turn on us, I’ll be ready.” As he said this, Cael heard footsteps coming from inside the building. He turned and saw Neda walking towards them at a brisk pace. Even with the mask obscuring Neda’s facial expressions, Cael could tell she meant business. Ghost followed behind her. "Listen up!” she said, addressing the team. “Whatever is blocking comms is artificial in nature Someone put it up to deny communications between the surface and orbit. If we want any support, we must find and disable the jammer. There's enemy in the city and a fleet in orbit that can't fire blind, so let's bring the link back up!" Neda paused, then turned and spoke directly to Cael. “Staff Sergeant Hadrian. Any questions? Without waiting, Neda turned and began issuing orders to Ghost to keep an eye out for the Nemesis. Cael waited patiently until she turned back to him. “No questions, ma’am,” Cael said. “but if you’re looking for Sam you’d better start over there.” He gestured with his rifle in the direction Sam had gone. “She left only a couple minutes ago. Probably hasn’t gone very far.” Neda had only been gone a few moments when Sam returned. "I have plotted the route you will take to the FOB," she told the turians, "The building provides a good view of the objective. I have sent you my frequency. When Cerberus operatives are undercover, they are very hard to spot. They may not break character even when you arrive. I will notify you of any armed humans in the FOB and anyone who is acting suspiciously, and kill them the moment they reveal themselves." Glancing briefly at the coordinates that had been uploaded to his omni-tool, Cael shook his head. “Negative. Hisha has learned of a jammer in the area. We have our orders to assist in triangulating its position. I don’t know the details of your contract, but we could use your help, assuming you’re willing to follow orders.” Neda had mentioned she would be keeping an eye out for Sam. It would be best to inform her of the Nemesis’ whereabouts. Cael set his PRR to the relevant channel and spoke into it: “Hisha, this is Hadrian. Sam is currently at my position. Seems she intends to go after the Cerberus operative. I’ve instructed her not to interfere with our plan. Over.” Cael had just finished speaking when the drell nearby, having slowed his fall with a biotic field. “Anything useful?” the drell asked. “Feun,” the turian said. “There you are.” He reiterated the plan. Once everyone had been filled in on the details, Cael led the team southward, towards the square Neda had mentioned. (( smilesja. I left some ambiguity in the exact details of what happens before we leave so we could move forward without having to all coordinate. I don't want to slow things down any more than I already have.))

(OOC: Some music I imagine this plays while Caleus is leading the group Ben watched Sar worked on the radio with her Omni-Tool . After a few moments, (and some grumbling from the Quarian.) the machine activated. A faint signal came from the device and Ben could barely decipher what was being said: "Ghost, radio check, come in," Ben heard Sar speaking to the radio. "Five by five, ma'am. PRRs are functional." "Acknowledged. This is a jammer, and it's only affecting long range comms. We need to find it." Ben gave a sigh of relief and gripped his Renevant, communication at last...... for the time being. "Listen up!" Sar shouted Whatever is blocking comms is artificial in nature. Someone put it up to deny communications between the surface and orbit. If we want any support, we must find and disable the jammer. There's enemy in the city and a fleet in orbit that can't fire blind, so let's bring the link back up!" "It's about damn time we get some action again!" Ben said eager to move out. The fight was almost over...... Just a little bit longer or at least that's what Ben was telling himself as he listened to Sar give out orders on what to do. She was going to go with the Cerberus woman on the rooftop and be a lookout, meanwhile Ben and the others were under the command of Caleus. "Any questions?" Sar finished. "None from me." Ben quipped "But once this is done, I'm going to need to contact Alliance about my missing team." although Ben had a sinking feeling that his squad were all dead however he still held to a small hope that they were alive. Turning on his heel, Ben left with the others. Ben followed the group silently his hands fixated on his gun and smelling the scent of smoke and blood. It has been a very long night for of all of them, Ben was tired and just wanted to go home (if it was even in tact.). Kato was scouting the area and was speaking to Caleus, while they were talking Ben heard footsteps echoing in a small building to the east. He slowly pointed his gun, and squinted. No one was there. "I thought saw something." He said to the group. "Keep your eyes peeled, we may be being watched." (OOC: REAL sorry this is late guys! Serza)

“Hisha, this is Hadrian. Sam is currently at my position. Seems she intends to go after the Cerberus operative. I’ve instructed her not to interfere with our plan. Over.” "Hisha to Hadrian. Acknowledged, out." Sar fixed her eyes back on the street in front of them. It was hard enough moving through the streets in a larger element, but as a two-strong sniper team, stealth was the only option. In a corner store on the far side, she could see a pair of Krogan brandishing a small arsenal for which an entire squad wouldn't be ashamed. And they were getting ready for a fight. "Two men, corner. Let's get around them quietly," she muttered in the radio. Ghost only pressed his push to talk in acknowledgement. Slowly but surely, they crept through the ravaged buildings, past organic corpses and even a destroyed Geth trooper. The two unknowns were completely oblivious to their presence, tending to a Cain heavy weapon with great enthusiasm. Ghost, watching the rear side of the street, grasped her shoulder firmly: "Human. Alone. Approaching Krogan." She turned around to see. Standart Alliance armor, no markings. An ally, to be sure, but noone they knew. "I see him." They watched the human jog up to the two they were observing, uncertain what to do. When the human began to yell something, the Krogan turned to him, drawing their weapons. She watched. One second. Two. Then the Krogan opened fire on the newcomer, completely open in the street. She heard Ghost ask what's going on. Before they could react, the human lay on the ground in a pool of blood. "Take aim. We're smoking those bosh'tets," she finally decided, drawing her sniper rifle. "Quiet kills." Suppressing her rifle meant that noone more than a few dozen meters away would hear the shot - and even less, were she to switch to subsonic ammunition. But subsonic had a major disadvantage - the rounds normally travelled at relativistic speeds, requiring little to no adjustment for wind and target speed even several hundred meters out. Subsonic ammunition took this advantage away - as well as the mean punch the rifle was easily capable of. Next to her, Ghost mounted his own suppressor and gave the signal. Just like any other time, the custom modified Viper opened first, depriving one of the Krogan of his shields with a single shot. With the rifle properly set up, Sar effortlessly put a follow up through his forehead plate. Krogan down at a rate many snipers could only dream of, the only comparable weapon in the city that Sar knew of belonging to the Nemesis, Sam. Next to her, the fully automatic assault rifle began to spew lead at the remaining Krogan. Hisha simply adjusted her sights and finished him off. "Move, move!" she shouted. The human could still be alive, and they were in prime position to help. "Ghost, I need your MediGel! Levo variant!" She caught the packet in mid air, wondering if the two they had in total would suffice. "Confirm those kills, then get back to me," she said as she kneeled next to the heavily breathing human Marine. "Relax. Stay with me, Marine!" She tore open both of the packets, letting the substance inside fall on the wound. In the background, as if from a great distance, she heard a pair of suppressed shots. The bleeding wouldn't stop. Remembering her medical training, she put her palm on the wound to apply pressure while trying to connect her omni-tool to the wounded man's hardsuit to no avail. "Ghost!" Rapid footsteps, with her spotter coming into view on the far side of the man. "Pressure, I need both hands," she spat while frantically tapping her 'tool for the medical software suite. The program began another connection attempt, and she quickly scanned the surroundings. They were alone, but maybe the Krogan had a supply of gel. "Stay with him," she quickly ordered and went to search the corner store. With one motion, she set the Cain on safe and threw it on the floor, searching the box it was on. Ammunition. More thermal clips than anyone should need with the Reapers gone. Another box, identical content. She threw half of the clips out before moving on to the counter, pulling out the drawers in a hurry. Levo rations, a box of omni-tools and a few civilian things of no worth. Nobody touched this store since the war began. Sar turned around to the cabinets on the wall, staring at them for a moment before systematically cleaning out the first. Finally, she found a box of medigel and opened it. Nothing. It was completely empty. "Hisha," came from the door. She ignored it, continuing onto the second cabinet. "Hisha!" came again, in a stronger tone. She turned around, recognizing Ghost. Why was he not out there, with the man? She wanted to shout at him, but he was faster: "He's gone." Her hands dropped the cabinet's contents, and like never before, she was certain: She had enough war for a lifetime. Sar leaned on the counter, letting out a long exhale. Just like Menae, where everyone died around her. Just like Menae, where she killed a Brute in close combat, nothing she did was enough. Strangely enough, she didn't spare many thoughts for the nameless man lying dead in the street. Instead, she thought of her friends and subordinates that she lost, first on Haestrom and then the men and women over Palaven. "I'll mark the body for retrieval and search for intel. Take your time, ma'am," she heard. Sar did not know how long it took, but eventually, Ghost returned to her side, now sporting a Cain on his back, full pouches, and several thermal clips in his hands, intended for her own resupply. She took the clips, filled her pouches, and, without a second thought, spoke on the radio: "Hadrian, this is Hisha. Be advised, we came into contact with hostile Krogan. Watch your backs out there. All Krogan are to be considered potential threats. ROE yellow. Out."
(This... escalated from my original plan, but I like it. The Krogan aren't hostile as a whole, and I'm sure these two were just going all macho because they had nothing to shoot. One way or another, ROE stands for Rules of Engagement. In an older book on police hostage rescue I read a few years ago, sniper ROE were classified as red for hold fire, yellow for life threatening situations only and green for weapons free. Alternatively, yellow can describe "return fire only." Make of that what you will, I just thought Cael would know what to make of the final message, so I decided to explain, just in case.) Xesthan you're up, unless my memory is taking a break again.

Zahn Viratas Turian Male Age: 23 Mercenary, Traveler, and Writer "I have plotted the route you will take to the FOB," she told the turians. "The building provides a good view of the objective. I have sent you my frequency. When Cerberus operatives are undercover, they are very hard to spot. They may not break character even when you arrive. I will notify you of any armed humans in the FOB and anyone who is acting suspiciously, and kill them the moment they reveal themselves." I like her, Zahn thought. She gets the job done quickly. It's a good thing she is working with us.After everything was said and done, Zahn accompanied the group led by Cael. He had no problem with the arrangement. Cael was more experienced than him. It made sense for him to leading the group. Zahn was not going to pull rank and disregard everything that came out of Cael's mouth. It would be stupid of him to ignore his orders. Not only that, but Zahn was not entirely used to being a Lieutenant Commander. He obtained the rank one month after joining the Turian military. It was while he was on the ship called the Nero. They were ambushed by Cerberus. The two highest ranking officers were knocked unconscious. Zahn and another soldier stepped up. Zahn was temporarily second in command. They were able to make it alive thanks to their team work. Zahn knew to trust the more experienced soldier then, and he will now. I thought I saw something." Ben said to the group. "Keep your eyes peeled, we may be under watch." It never stops, Zahn thought. They keep on coming. He saw someone obscured by shadow with a sniper rifle, preparing to take their shot. Zahn shot the unsuspecting sniper with his assault rifle. He went down in an instant. "It's safe to assume there's more of them," Zahn whispered. "They're trying to give us a false sense of security. We should tread carefully." He heard heavy footsteps. Krogan. Well, that escalated quickly.OOC: GeneralXIV

Cael led the team through the streets of London, keeping a careful eye out for any potential hostiles. With the Cerberus team apparently down to only one man, he did not expect to encounter much trained resistance, but that was no reason to be careless. "I thought I saw something." Ben said to the group. "Keep your eyes peeled, we may be being watched." Cael looked at the N7, who was peering at an abandoned building. The turian himself scanned the area, looking for danger. His eyes focused on a figure lurking in the shadows. By the silhouette, it was likely human, and that thing in its hands looked to be a sniper rifle. Cael brought up his own rifle, but before he could shoot, he heard gunfire from slightly behind and to his right. He glanced back. Apparently Zahn had been quicker on the draw. “Nice shooting.” "It's safe to assume there's more of them," Zahn whispered. "They're trying to give us a false sense of security. We should tread carefully." Cael nodded at Zahn and then crept over to examine the body. The human was badly wounded and unconscious - Zahn’s rifle had cut through the kinetic barriers like they were nothing - but alive. He didn’t recognize any of the markings on the armor. They definitely weren’t Alliance. The weapon itself was an M-92 Mantis. It was a common choice for snipers, and seeing a human with such a weapon was not at all unusual. “Do any of you recognize this guy?” Caelus then heard loud footsteps coming from down the street. He pushed himself up against the adjacent building and loaded a fresh thermal clip into his rifle. “Incoming. Get to cover.” Cael heard a voice, which sounded like a human female, shouting from down the street. “We know you’re there! Drop your weapons and come out with your hands up.” The turian had no intention of complying, especially since his team had just shot one of the friends of the person making the demands. He responded, “Who the hell are you?” “None of your damn business. All you need to know is that we’ve claimed this part of town! Find your own loot!” Cael sighed. Looters. The greatest threat to the galaxy had just been defeated and all these people could think about was getting rich. “Feun,” he addressed the drell, in a voice too low for the looters to hear. “See if you can find some high ground. If these guys start shooting, take them out.” The turian then raised his voice and addressed the looters themselves. “I’m afraid I can’t do that,” he called. “My friends and I are on a mission of vital importance. Military business. We don’t have time for this. I’ll make you a deal: you stand down now, and I’ll let you walk away with your friend here. He’s still alive; maybe you can patch him up so he stays that way.” There was a pause, and then, “Why should we trust you, turian?” “Oh for fuck’s sake…” Cael muttered. He turned to Ben. “N7, can you handle this? Maybe they’ll respond better to a fellow human.” As he said this, a recognizable voice came over the radio. "Hadrian, this is Hisha. Be advised, we came into contact with hostile Krogan. Watch your backs out there. All Krogan are to be considered potential threats. ROE yellow. Out." “Thanks for the heads up,” Cael responded. “We’ve been held up by a group of human looters. I’ll contact you when we reach the location.” The turian adjusted his rifle to fire incendiary rounds and prepared for a fight if the N7 couldn’t talk the looters down. (( smilesja , you're up. It's up to you if this is resolved peacefully or not.))

(OOC: This plays during the showdown between the group and the looters so at the beginning at Draining Dragon post: ) Ben surveyed the injured human. "I don't recognize him." He answered Cadeus. "Looks like this man may have some info on what we may be facing." Ben turned on his Omni-Tool and was about to administer some Medi-Gel, but all of a sudden Ben heard movement: Loud footsteps coming from the destroyed building that the group was heading towards. “We know you’re there! Drop your weapons and come out with your hands up.” A human female voice shouted. Ben raised his Renevant, trying to search for the female. "Not if you drop yours!" Ben responded. "Come out now and let's resolve this peacefully!" Cadeus seemed to have other ideas. “We know you’re there! Drop your weapons and come out with your hands up.” The Turian shouted. “None of your damn business. All you need to know is that we’ve claimed this part of town! Find your own loot!” The female shouted! Ben shook his head, "She sounds just like Kalia......" He mumbled under his breath. Ben noticed Cadeus whispering to Feon. Ben couldn't make out the words, but judging from the Drell's actions he's likely going to be the guy who'll take them out in case anything goes wrong. Ben hoped this wouldn't have to come to that, but that course of action seems likely right now. Cadeus raised his voice: “I’m afraid I can’t do that,” he called. “My friends and I are on a mission of vital importance. Military business. We don’t have time for this. I’ll make you a deal: you stand down now, and I’ll let you walk away with your friend here. He’s still alive; maybe you can patch him up so he stays that way.” The woman was not having it though. “Why should we trust you, turian?” “Oh for fuck’s sake…” Cael muttered. He turned to Ben. “N7, can you handle this? Maybe they’ll respond better to a fellow human.” "Yes sir." Ben said as his Omni-Tool radio activated. "Hadrian, this is Hisha. Be advised, we came into contact with hostile Krogan. Watch your backs out there. All Krogan are to be considered potential threats. ROE yellow. Out." There wasn't much time, Ben put his Renevant behind his back. "Why are you doing this?" Ben asked. "We lost everything when the Reapers attacked." The woman said with desperation in her voice. "We just want to reclaim what's ours. Just go home please......" "I AM home!" Ben declared his arms spread across. "I've spent most of my childhood here in London and I've spent a good portion of it helping Shepard gather an army to push these Lovecraftian bastards off our planet! We've won! The last thing we need is less fighting! If you care about your no OUR home. You will help us right now!" The woman hesitated. "I-I...." "There are still evil forces here, that are still hellbent on threatening our freedom!" Ben declared "Please let us through and assist!" The woman shook her head: "Fine, we'll let you through. Even assist you guys in clearing this place. I just want this war to be over already that's all! The name is Sarah by the way, would you help our friend John?" Sarah said pointing at the human Cadeus injured. Ben smiled "I knew a Sarah, she was beautiful woman though a bit selfish. Thank you though." He turned to Cadeus. "Sir I think they could be useful in our fight. At worst they serve as a distraction from hostile Krogan, let's bring them with us." (OOC: Serza)
