eh...people losing their minds over this and it's not even a 18+. Knowing BW is something soft and hinted more than anything else. I think as AAA games go TW is still the one being most free about showing sexuality. Not that's this make them better but comparatively I do consider BW still a chaste developer to be honest.

Wow, not liking to swear and drink makes you a child apparently. Harvest Moon is a fun franchise though, so thanks for the memories.
I don't think it's that....it's just when a game has a rating of M or similar, and tells you upfront "strong language" is included, it's a pretty good bet the main character is going to be one of the ones using such language. It's a bit disingenuous to expect otherwise.
It shouldn't be the case in a RP game if we're the ones who are supposed to be defining the character (as much as is possible and still have a coherent story). I think Hanako's bigger complaint and perfectly valid if I'm reading the complaint correctly is the game assuming control of our character to say or do something uncharacteristic of our character. To be sure in a more mature themed game there will be times we will encounter NPC's who will act according to how they were written, and in buying and agreeing to play such a game you've accepted the risk of being exposed to those types of things. But it should never be our character forced to behave in a certain fashion. This is an old and common complaint that extends beyond things like nudity and language. Hopefully those 4 dialogue options provide us with very distinct voices that allow us to define the PC the way we want.

I am seriously starting to wonder if ME:A will have humping and moaning now. It's gonna be Witcher 2 all over again. ,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸-(_MEA_)-,.-~*´¨¯¨`*·~-.¸
Nah... romances will be another Cassandra whitewash one. The nudity there wasn't worth my time. Neither will the ME:A. Now, a rating of MA 18+.../ there I'd be loking for the meat. I wonder if any romanceable char goes for poetry? I just wish they had better animations. Looks so unromantic when Cassandra slaps her legs over you before the cutscene ends. Otherwise I liked it but I was hoping for something more intimate because all the flirting and bonding before the actual romance subplot felt more genuine to me.

But it should never be our character forced to behave in a certain fashion. This is an old and common complaint that extends beyond things like nudity and language. Hopefully those 4 dialogue options provide us with very distinct voices that allow us to define the PC the way we want. However, the game assumes control of your character from the Violence aspect... and no one here is complaining about that, right? They're just focusing the "player agency" deal on very specific things... gleefully ignoring that point because it shows that "player agency" is an illusion at the best... not a "right" of an RPG player. I agree with melbella, when the warning is there on the box, it's (more than) a bit diningenuous to expect otherwise. Even when you get 4 or 6 dialogue options to define your character, the range of the those options is controlled by the developer. This is where ME1 comes into play... you had lots of selections... but very, very few meaningfully different options. For example, I couldn't in ME1 portray Shepard as a drunken Commander who would have been inclined to sit down with Harkin and pound back a few rounds with him. At the Embassies Lounge when the bartender asks if we want a drink, we were given an option of "Why not." but guess what, that isn't what is said or what happens after. Shepard says "What do you have?" and the bartender replies with "Information, mostly." I couldn't actually get Shepard to drink on the job if I wanted to make THAT his character in ME1, so why should you expect a better "right" to make him into a complete abstainer in ME3? Both are RPGs. The developers will ALWAYS only give you options within the confines of the story they are trying to tell. Also, even when you're not given those dialogue options (as in ME3), it doesn't change the fact, in ME3, that you were given other options you can use to avoid those scenes and define your character. Being "optional" - they are, by definition, the same has having dialogue "options." Would an "abstainer" even throw a big party... or would that party just not take place? Would a non-violent pacifist have made it to N7?

I don't think the "sex"scenes have gotten better. I think they've actually gotten worse... they do seem to be progressively getting more "awkward" and even "plastic" and less intimate as more as more of them have been shown. Hopefully, their promise of the romances in ME:A being "more organic" will translate into "more natural" rather than just "more skin."

Seeing or not a couple of pixels on the screen that represent PeeBee's or Cora's nipples is the last thing I care about. I mean, why should I care about that?... I only do care about the game...

Dialogue is supposed to be quite large. Huge actually. Of course, more char. dialogue doesn't necessarily translate into a greater number of cut scenes (ie: getting drunk).

Yes, it may give players more range in their characterizations than even ME1... or not. We'll just have to wait to see what dialogue those new dialogue wheels actually contains. Regardless, people should have no expectation that the range of the ability to build their Ryder will be unlimited or only limited in ways they desire (i.e that we cannot avoid combat entirely but would be able to avoid having our PC use strong language entirely). Our PC's character will still always fall within whatever range Bioware has already determined they can provide within the confines of the plot of the story they are trying to tell. The ratings warnings are going to be based on the entire game... just the same as every other game... regardless of it being an RPG or not.

Oh really... do I need to spell everything out for you. I said I didn't want "more organic" to just mean only "more skin"... I want to see a move back towards a better portrayal of a romance such that even a non-shown kiss has some impact again.

Cinematics will be "magical" this time (according to a dev tweet). By admitted they mocapped the facial animation and are "tweaking" them as we "speak".

I find it droll that EA+Bio push the envelope regarding social issues such as LGBT but are very timid when it comes to developing a MA 18+ game.

I suspect we're going to be in an uncanny valley for a while. I suppose they could mocap, but I doubt that's an easy solution either. (one of the few relevant shots from 'Love Actually' I can post...)

There is a fine line to walk whether it feels either real or plastic. Hints of nudity (like in ME1) can be even more 'erotic' rather than full nude body shot.
They just have to entice the player and thát can only be done with good writing, good voices and great use of cinematics.

It is... different countries have such different ratings systems and I don't think any country uses their ratings system extremely consistently. From reading the Australian Classification Board's website, I get the impression that the use of the word "strong" just basically applies to everything that puts it within the M+15 category: From their description of what the Restricted Category of M+15 means: If you go down to the next lower category, which is the advisory category of just M, the description reads: The difference appears to be that and M+15 game can't legally be accessed by a person under 15 years of age; whereas a game with just the advisory of M can be. The description for the restricted R+18 category is: www.classification.gov.au/Guidelines/Pages/Guidelines.aspxHowever, it all is pretty subjective since giving a work a classification is basically always "in the opinion of the Board."

The Australian classification is super confusing, nor do they appear to define their terms (I looked). The sex in MEA and DAI has Strong Impact, the sex in TW3 has High Impact. (must be the Unicorn...)

My understanding of +18 is that you have need to have blood-engorged genitals on display, possibly moist.

Nipples are a reason to scream how video games are evil but beating people to death and seeing bits of brain and gore are perfectly fine. It's the other way around in my country =) If you have to step on someones toe in the game, there's a good chance it will be either rated 18+ or banned completely. But sex or nudity are omnipresent on (daytime) TV, advertising, newspapers, magazines and so on. That said "Strong Sex Scenes" and swearing will probably lead to a 16+ rating although every 6 years old child is confronted with nudity in its daily life.
