My my, there I'm gone for a few short hours and the thread explodes I approve verrrrry much! Welcome to all the new wonderful people who fount their way here! As to why I am interested in Jaal... First, my fem!Shep always did the aliens but wouldn't touch a hooman with a fire poker... I'm not sure if Ryder will play out the same for me, but all in all I'm always more attracted to non-humans (same in DA - always them elves, they are killing me) Not necessarily physically bt something pulls me toward them. Maybe humans are just boring.I know humans. Aliens are new, exciting and... yeah, alien... It's not so much the "forbidden" trope that pulls me to Jaal but the utter newness? I find Liam quite interesting so far and I will try his romance (if he has one) later. The thing is, pe-DAI I was all over IB... I mean, totally over IB... Even did his romance in my first PT, but in the end it was Solas who caught my heart. I always regretted that I didn't romance that stoopid elf in my first PT. I hope I chose right by going for Jaal. Second, for some weird reason I actually find him attractive. Same goes for Turians. Yeah, yeah, I'm a creepy perv, but damn, look at him, so smooth, so pretty and them eyes *_* Third, the Garrus vibe doesn't hurt. I really hope Jaal is not just a poor Garrus 2.0 but has his own unique character, his own agenda, though.

I found this old video where Bioware talks a bit about (I assume Angaran) architecture. Nothing new, but I thought it was interessting. They mention that they are peaceful and their home has an "aura of welcomeness". It starts at around 20:40 Nice, I hadn't seen that video before (only watched the section about the maybe-Angaran world, but I'll be going back to watch the rest for sure) so thanks for posting it. If they really were talking about the Angara here I'm even more inclined to like them. I love that their civilization is a more peaceful one in general, all in tune with nature and welcoming and such - though clearly they'll defend themselves if need be from that shot of them in the trailer. So - peaceful, but not naive. Makes me even more curious about why some would join Sloane Kelley and the raiders. And, let's not forget that scene in the gameplay trailer with the Angaran Krogan-killer. So it looks like there's a dark side to them too. Very interesting. Hopefully they'll let us explore that duality in the game with different types of Angaran characters, versus just having Jaal as our info dump guy like Tali was, where we're only hearing one side.

Plus didn't the scanner show that they had their head plates pried off!? (looks up video - "Cause of death: Blast to the head after the victim's attacker forcibly removed his frontal plate") That's some messed up shit. That aside, you'd have to be pretty badass to take down a Krogan like that...

Wouldn't be surprised if that's how we end up meeting Jaal. Ooh... I wonder if that's why we end up going to their home world in the first place. Searching for this faction (that sounds like what Rokhar is, though maybe it's an individual's name?) leads us to visiting an Angaran city. Maybe Jaal joins up with us in the beginning to help us track these killers down. If their culture really does value peace, some rogue murderer causing conflict with the newcomers might be someone they'd want stopped as well.

His eyes are the prettiest I've seen in ME I was thinking about having IronBull as an Li in Inquisition. I liked the idea of someone so different from their people, but I was actually quite put off by his romance and ended it early. Not into BDSM or him, really. Solas, though... He's probably my favorite guy next to Garrus for Bioware romances and one of the best things about it was that it grew organically. I had no idea what he'd be like or if I would like him or not going into the game. Once we reached Skyhold, I was crushing big time. Totally my type.I hope Jaal's writing/voice work impress me (his looks already do, though looks mean so little to me). I can't wait to meet him in-game and discover how the story unfolds! Hopefully, I have another Solas experience.

I'm all for a 'totally blows me away' Solas experience but please please please minus the heartbreak I'm not a big fan of the BDSM theme for IBs romance either but PW did a good job with it. It was really well written an with my little red haired vixen I totally got it and IB. They were perfect for each other. In the end I really enjoyed it. But that was more me playing a character in a game... With Solas (and Garrus) its more me being a character in a game... Sounds strange maybe? I hope I find that same connection with someone in MEA and I really hope it will be Jaal. But, tbh, I will keep an open heart and open mind. Before we saw Jaal in the trailer I was all "I want a nice turian boi and I wont romance anything else!!11!1" Seeing Jaal changed that. And I'm glad. So I hope hope hope Jaal is the one for me b/c hes ma pretty precious Jaalicle BunnyKitty.

I can't wait to see Jaal's character kit! I'm so curious as to the anatomy of the new races. And no, not in the way you're probably thinking. I wonder if we won't see it until after launch? Though if they announce Jaal as a squadmate before release, I don't see why he wouldn't have one. It's not like his appearance is a spoiler anymore.

I'm assuming they will bring out a character kit for Vetra and Drack next. Jaal last? Probably, if they do him at all. They may want to keep parts of him a secret since it could be spoilery. Well, at least among the squadmates. I'm hoping they also do something like this for our non-squad crew as well. Kallo Jath, Reyes, Dr. Lexi, etc.

I was open to a well-written male character from either the turian, drell or quarian races.... now I can add angaran to that list. This pleases me, Bioware

I have made an account just to join the conversation about Jaal after about a week of lurking, so.. hello everyone
I'm a bit late to the topic but personally the reason I'm interested in Jaal is partly because we know nothing about him, so we have a lot of room to speculate. But also the little we saw of him in the trailer says a lot about him? I get the impression he's some kind of authority, or has a high rank because he's not there with the 5 Angarans in the first shot, which makes me think he came from that building in the back and walked all the way to the stairs to meet this "pathfinder" from another galaxy, as everyone in his path just sort of stepped out of his way and he walked down the stairs to step into Scott's personal space while maintaining eye contact the whole time. (that is 100% what happened okay)
It's just the way he carries himself, you know? I get a "cool-headed at all times but could break your neck without hesitation" vibe from him. He has a scar which implies he's experienced so I'm assuming he's older and more mature than Ryder which really makes me wonder how exactly Ryder manages to gain his trust and respect? Especially their respect, because this is their first big mission and they haven't really had the opportunity to prove themselves yet - and I don't see Jaal following orders easily without having complete trust in Ryder and respecting him. I'm really curious how that all works out. I like the idea of him joining us to track the killers and then staying, but why would he need Ryder to track them, or agree to join the team in the first place when these two races know basically nothing about each other? Maybe it's part of his loyalty mission? Going after the "Rokhar" for revenge, perhaps? The tracks in the video don't appear to be Krogan or Angaran though.
I'm curious about everything involving Jaal tbh. I'm intrigued. Jaal looks intriguing and pretty and badass. Needless to say I will be romancing him unless he turns out to be boring, which I don't think will be the case.

After seeing the clip of him again, it seems like he appears during a conversation we don't see. He just pops in in the trailer due to a cut, I believe. We probably speak to the lady and he appears to add his voice and then steps up to Scott to appraise him.

When I saw they released Peebee's earlier (I love her full name), I was like OK BIOWUR LAY THE JAAL KIT ON ME NAOOO! *rubs hands together* They showed a breakdown of Peebee's unique weapon, so I hope to see his ..what looks like a sniper rifle up close as well. I love me some badass alien weaponry.

I think Jaal joining you may either have something to do with allying with the new races against the Kett, or just be a way of keeping an eye on you. Heck, he might just be kind of Iron Bull about it in that he's upfront with his intentions. He'll join and help you as long as you're honest about your goals and aren't there to conquer, but he's also coming partially to report back on the stuff you do.
Though I also get the feeling that Jaal is a mandatory companion, so it won't be a "recruitment" sort of thing. That could add another interesting layer as to what importance he holds.

I think its apparent he is of some importance within the angara culture, if he joins the Tempest. Personally, I'm hoping he's a Prince or something royal and fancy and appropriately swoony

Obliviousmiss , I'm probably in the minority here, I have no interest in sexing him. I'm more so interested in his species/why he wants to work with the Pathfinder. Plus, this race looks pretty cool tbh. I like new shiny things. This. I'm in the even smaller minority that would not care if Bioware cut sex out completely, but for people who want it, I certainly don't mind that it's there. For me, I'm much more interested in the actual romance when I decide who my character might pursue. I romanced Garrus in the MET and it hit me dead center in my sappy, cheesy, romantic heart. There were a lot of different things that sold me on that romance. The friends to lovers to more theme, especially. By the end of the triology, it just felt so... right. There was also the whole coming from different cultures, not to mention Turians being Dextro. There's a lot that has to be worked around and comprises have to made. It wouldn't be an easy romance (even if Shep and Garrus made it look that way XD). Garrus was also incredibly supportive and never abandoned Shepard. Kaidan kinda bored me to death. Jacob also didn't interest me, and while I love Thane, he never really clicked as a possible romantic partner for my Shepard. Joker was the only human guy I desperately wanted to romance and ME3 only gave us a massively disappointing "in another lifetime, Commander." TAT Mordin would have been a fun romance, I think. Javik was pretty damn nice, too. Wouldn't have minded him being an option outside of the one night stand thing they gave us. That's kind of my MO when it comes to the guys I've liked in ME games. The aliens always wind up being more interesting to me not counting Joker. But back to the question asked, Jaal interests me for a number of reasons. I do like his design, and I have to admit those eyes of his caught me completely off guard. XD I've been super interested in learning anything about the new races, and while I was originally hoping for a Kett squadmate, I'm not even a little bit disappointed after Jaal's entrance. Will he be the quietly curious type? A proud, stern individual interested in protecting his people's welfare? Maybe a soldier looking for revenge on the Kett and we are a means to an end? I think the sheer amount of mystery is what draws me in the most right now. He's this big unknown and I want to know mooooooore. That I find him pretty and cool looking is just a bonus at this point. XD (For further reference, my other interests in MEA right now, are Kallo, Reyes, and possibly Liam. Kallo is adorable, Reyes' voice can kill, and Liam seems like a fun dude so far. Jaal is def at the start of the line, though.)

After seeing the clip of him again, it seems like he appears during a conversation we don't see. He just pops in in the trailer due to a cut, I believe. We probably speak to the lady and he appears to add his voice and then steps up to Scott to appraise him. to "appraise him" ...

I think its apparent he is of some importance within the angara culture, if he joins the Tempest. Personally, I'm hoping he's a Prince or something royal and fancy and appropriately swoony Angaran Prince... _ That's like almost an elf prince, which would be like the Best Thing Ever for elf-loving me.

Damn but FemShep really DID get everything, even a sweet throwaway line from Joker! /sobs
