Lexi does a thorough examination of Jaal before he's allowed to do anything with Ryder because hey, this is a brand new alien and his skin could be literally poison to humans for all we know! Now I'm picturing her following Jaal around the ship trying to run random tests on him and he's just so done. I hope she's one of those earnest types. I don't if you are a Trek fan, but this reminds me of a scene from the 2009 Star Trek. Bones makes Kirk sick to smuggle him on the Enterprise, but later is chasing Kirk, injecting him with cures when he has reactions. I loved that scene. I love Karl Urban's portrayal as Bones.

It appears that Guardians of the Galaxy was inspired by Mass Effect and when you watch the movie, boy do you ever see it! Still can't say who Jaal reminds me of until I hear him talk and watch him in battle, but so far it's still Zenith vibes I get most imo. It is really quite obvious in places. So much so that I kinda found it a wee bit distracting. Star-Lord's mask thing at the beginning, and seen elsewhere in the film, is something straight outta the first Mass Effect almost. Like that helmet is worn by Kaidan as his breather mask. There's other stuff too. Overall its a good film, but I am not a fan of Chris Pratt or Zoe Saldana to be honest, and that distracts me also. Honestly there should just be a Rocket and Groot film. That I'd watch. I mean, when isn't it a good time to watch TCW, Rebels or Star Wars in general? True. But TCW scratches my sci-fi itch, especially the last 3 seasons. IMO they are some of the best Star Wars stuff to come from the prequel era. And Ahsoka Tano is a character worthy of her own spin-off film. I loved that scene. I love Karl Urban . Fixed that for you. But he is especially good in Star Trek as Bones. Plus my OTL Chris Pine is in it and hot dayum. Only problem is so is Zoe Saldana. Otherwise it's perfect. Lol at Saldana being in so much sci-fi stuff. Star Trek is the only good sci-fi film she's been in my opinion though, and the new Star Trek films have faults lemme tell you. But I digress. Jaal. Boy am I having fun speculating what Jaal's voice gunna be like

I have a grudge against The Clone Wars for turning one of my fav characters - General Grievous - into a joke... he was such a badass in the old, non-CGI cartoon, plus I love cyborgs and things with more than two arms... Ok, I know my tastes are weird. I support this. The more arms the better honestly. More on topic, I also wouldn't mind Krogan romance. I know a lot of people who would want to romance one even if I wouldn't. I feel they are kind of like Dragon Age with dwarf romance though... just not gonna happen.

Haha yeah love those 2! faerlyte basically the question "can we do this?" is because of Mordin in ME, so now it's common to wonder how compatible certain aliens are with humans.

I can't say this is a good news for me. I didn't like that much Kaidan, I found him quite boring. I hope this time the writer will surprise me.

Odd, I liked Kaidan. I hated how he shut me down in ME2 but still he was my bro. Here's how I viewed everyone. Garrus, Thane, and Kaidan were brothers. Wrex was that crazy uncle type. Mordin was the Emett Brown of Mass Effect. Liara was the weird, goofy, little sister. Tali was the cute, nerdy, girlfriend. Ashley was ashes sorry... Jack was the psycho-ex. Miranda was a bitch. Simara was a mother/aunt. Jacob was just... Jacob. I didn't hate him, but I hardly used him. Vega was the hothead apprentice who liked showing off.

Jaal. Boy am I having fun speculating what Jaal's voice gunna be like After hearing Nyasha in Dreamfall Chapters I hope he sounds similar to his character there, yet slightly deeper and hopefully with an alien distinction to it

I can only cross my fingers. I had a weird feeling when I first saw Liam in the trailer. I thought "hmm... bro, definitely, buy why do I feel like he's going to hit on me without me initiating anything?" Then I find out his writer and it all makes sense! Now the ME3 Kaidan and Shepard scene was lacking taste as a scene, not the writer for Kaidan. By rights if you are still with Garrus he should not force himself on you, and Thane's death is just bad timing really. If you have romanced no one as female or male Shep, he is a sweetheart! She wrote bisexual Kaidan very tastefully! And if you reject him or are just friends, the friendship is very enjoyable without any pressure unlike in ME1. Jaal will most likely not force himself on us, but I doubt he'll be shy if he's interested. Heck he looked less than shy when he walks up to Ryder in the trailer!

Post ME1 I never had a problem with Kaidan "forcing" on my character (that honor is all for pushy Liara... ) I just find Kaidan terribly boring. He is sweet, ok. But I find him terribly lacking in personality, that's why my Shepard alwasy go for Garrus. I'm playng a videogame, my character is a videogame protagonist. She is out of the norm, she kill aliens and baddies for a living. I want an out of the norm person for her. I never romanced Kaidan with a male Shepard either (I have done a Jack run, and I'm working on a Tali one) because I don't find actually interesting his character. Not enought to have my character romance him, at least. Kaidan have no quirks, nothing that have him really stand out for me. I have the same problem with Cortez (he is sweet, but doesn't impress me). Is something of a thrope I have noticed in ME: the male characters are usually less flashy and interesting than the female ones. That's for the human males, at least. Since aliens had much better background and personality. I believe because they had to compensate their alien looks, so the writers actually put some effort in them. Of course these are just my opinions.

I would suggest watching an ME3 Kaidan romance with either Shepard on YouTube or Twitch, just to get an idea of what Jaal might be like.

I've just started watching The Expanse on Netflix as another remedy to the wait for Andromeda, since I've heard a lot of people say it has a Mass Effect-y sorta vibe to it. Boy do I have thoughts. Also rewatching Star Wars: The Clone Wars cause A) Ahsoka Tano, Anakin is actually a great character in it, C) Jaal reminds me of Kit Fisto, Plo Koon and weirdly enough, Darth Maul combined Also D) AHSOKA TANO Ahsokaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I even have her action figure. I love her so much. She's my space little sister. Best SW character. Best space gal character, period. And I agree about all those coming together to form Jaal, well, not sure I see the Maal bit. Maal is slimey and revenge-driven. (Can you tell I despise him.) But I'm TOTALLY hoping Jaal is very much Plo Koon-ish. I... kind of crush on Plo Koon. Nah I don't want to see him without his mask on lol but yeah. That stoic, noble spirit. I love when he told the clone soldiers that HE would care if something happened to them, even if no one else did. My man! (Agree Anakin is amazing in CW. Bless him!)

Poor Drack, he doesn't get any love. Admittedly I probably won't like any Krogan that comes down the pike as much as I did Wrex, but still, I would do that if it were an option. Not sure why any of it has to be ouch? For an alien to take interest in a human, and vice versa, there kind of has to be a deeper bond there than sexual attraction to get that bit started. If it would be painful to have conventional sex, I'm sure the characters in question can come up with some other "activities" that would be just as gratifying. I definitely don't put near as much thought into how my characters are getting it on as I do the mental connection they have though . By the same token I would think that Jaal is a comfortable lay. He may have been designed that way... . My only complaint with his design is his chin is tiny. I will hit that though as it has become a standard for me to only romance aliens and I dig most of his design. But in all honesty I am just butthurt that I don't have Garrus #2 because nothing beats that male turian design. I can't explain it. I know they're kind of on the skinny side, but damn, I mean my boyfriend is too so maybe I just swing that way. I agree with this 100%. Saw a bit of the anti-krogan romance discussion earlier (just quickly scrolled through for time) and have to say I'm the type not to judge people based on who/what they want to romance or ship. If you get giddy at the thought of being with a krogan, then get on whicha bad self! Go for it. Life is short. And boring lol That's what fantasy/sci-fi is for. Same for all the other alien types. As for the "ouch" aspect - again, agree. I tried to make that argument again and again with people in regards to Bull romancing a dwarf or elf. People could not stop giggling and joking about dick sizes and tiny holes. Really, grow up, folks! One, physical intimacy between a couple does not always involve "insert dong inside hole." Sorry to break it to ya. And second, yeah, I just personally do not think that hard about how my characters are "doing it" lol Of course if folks get into that then a-okay with me. Just not something i personally spend lots of time contemplating. With regards to Jaal, and here's an unpopular opinion, I find him utterly fascinating and am SO EXCITED I will probably get to romance him!!! Do I find him physically (personally) attractive, no lol He's a weird-looking alien with a tiny chin (yup) and weird neck things. Then again I believe I am on the "sex is fine if you want it" asexual spectrum. It's not something I've ever enjoyed but I don't hate it, so... oh Jaal wants to stick his "ahem" in "ahem" and be all "ahem" with my character (or me). Sure, if you want to, babe

I don't know if you are a Trek fan, but this reminds me of a scene from the 2009 Star Trek. Bones makes Kirk sick to smuggle him on the Enterprise, but later is chasing Kirk, injecting him with cures when he has reactions. This was a bit disorienting, you start out with "Don't know if you're a Trek fan" then proceed to talk about that abomination that no proper Trek fan cares to acknowledge *throwin dat Trekkie snob shade*

And now it appears Andromeda is inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy. God, I hope they placed a Star Lord joke in the game somewhere.
