I like that people seem to be emphasizing lion-like features in Jaal's fanart. That's definitely what he resembles more than a kitty cat, with his tentacle-things kind of looking like a mane.

Not loving the cutesy kawaii fan art. But, to each his/her own. I'm instead loving the beefy buff artwork. He's got big broad shoulders and thick ol' legs. Oh yeah! Y'all are animals! Down boys and girls! I love kawaii art in general... cute faces, pastel colors, sigh... but I like romantic and sexy art, too. I guess I like beautiful art. I've been wanting to draw some of the Bioware boys in shojo visuals from the mangas and animes I loved as a girl in the 90's. Jaal might be a good one to start with. I just want to get his character right, though, so I've held off on doing anything until I know more.

I remember that show!! Well for me I don't think it's that; I am okay with his look but mostly because it reminds me of other fantasy species I like. I am intrigued at the thought of falling in love (or rather, my character falling in love) with someone who is from a very different culture, and then it's the little things that come together, the scene where he and Scott meet in the trailer, the voice actor's performance (what little we've heard), my general curiosity about his people... I feel like I'll be very lucky if my character can be in a romance with him! (That's only romance talk; I'm curious about him from a general point of view, too. Since I see several Star Wars species when I look at him and his people, he's sort of forming into a Cham Syndulla in my head. Hope I'm not wrong.... I'm sure I'll be very wrong xD) Oh yeah even if he wasn't a romance, just like Javik I want to learn about his people. I adore Javik still and he never leaves my side in ME3. I even get to hear him call Shepard's name which is very rare! And what I like most about Javik is he is nothing like the Protheans we learned of from Liara and others. He showed us the true ugliness of war and what they fought for, leaving nothing romanticized. I actually was so disappointed in Javik I guess for Liara's sake? Protheans were so important to her, her life's work, really. It really broke her when we learned what they truly were and how they were. (I always bring her to Ilos because it just feels like it would be cruel not to? lol) And Javik turned out to be kind of a jerk LOL (for understandable reasons, um, watching his people get slaughtered and now he's the last of his kind...). I would say what I loved about him most was his voice actor. He did a truly amazing job.

Liara needed to face to the truth and I believe Javik's roughness made her stronger through it. He wanted her to be strong and needed her to be strong. He even wonders if he was anyone else, could he have been the man she believed him to be. A scholar. I feel he feels he disappointed her just by existing and wished to change that if he could. Yeah I can't help but romance Koth in SWTOR because it's the same actor lol

I love it when Japanese artists get their hands on BioWare characters; goma-itoh is one of my favorites.

Even when I disagreed with him, or thought he was being a jerk, I couldn't help but laugh about it. He's such a troll! And it felt so satisfying when my Shepard was able to earn his respect, because it felt so hard won.

I went from thinking he'd be benched forever to taking him everywhere with me! I thought his character was really well done and realistic and he had some real hard-hitting moments that shed light on the Protheans without him being just a walking Encyclopedia. And I loved that his relationship with Liara was complicated but, as pointed out above, not all prickliness and dislike. From the little details we've gotten, Jaal reminds me a little of both Garrus and Javik. And I'm DEFINITELY not going to complain about a character that's anything like a combination of those two (it helps that I would have romanced the hell out of Javik if he'd been an option)

Javik knew what that was when they first met, but Shep was not worthy of it yet in his eyes. I have a feeling Jaal is the opposite of Javik though when it comes to his bluntness. I could be wrong but I don't think he'll be a jerk or troll people, but be curious like he was. I blame the monocle. It makes him look too intelligent.

I don't think Jaal will be nearly as jerk-ish as Javik, but I can imagine him being blunt and rather prickly until he knows more about us. Which makes sense under the circumstances. He's definitely ready and willing to get in Scott's face in the trailer (speaking of, I'd be pretty scared if I was Scott in that scene. Jaal is an unknown and not all that little alien with a voice that sounds like it could become very intimidating if he wanted it to). Which is fine by me. I love friendship/romance stories that involve building trust and breaking through defenses to get to the real person inside. That's half of why I wanted an Andromeda alien LI in the first place. I also have the feeling that he'll have a particularly antagonistic relationship with somebody on the squad. Maybe Drack.

If I was Scott I would be trying to back up even though I am held at gunpoint. Jaal had almost a look of devour in his eyes along with curiosity now that I watch the scene more closely.

Also, in this trailer around 0:39 and 0:49 (I think is the same voice) there is a voice with african accent The voice actor of Jaal does African and English accents, "this is... incredible" It could be a Geth, but the African accent makes sense, if his voice is that old I won't romance shit of him!

Yeah we think that's Jaal. The female Angaran in the new trailer talks the same way but higher. It seems to be their voice tone. Sort of aquatic.

I can't romance Cora because she is ugly! I can't romance Liam because he probably is only straight, and if he isn't straight his hair must have all kind of wild life! And my catfish is 1283012893 years old!? You better be romanceable Drack.

He doesn't sound old, his voice is just really deep and has that strange modulation. Also, isn't Drack like, super old? Older than Wrex old?
