Hey guys, just saw this fanart on tumblr with the descripton: Imagine Jaal developing feelings for Ryder and then his pupils dilatate everytime he talks to him/her. Imagine! Discuss! I think it might be a nice touch, as long as its just a subtle effect, but I wouldn't be disappointed if it doesn't happen

That would be a neat thing actually, if his species had some sort of signal that they were interested. If he got more purple, or something.

So I was watching Hook(Robin Williams movie)..and when the Lost Boys were yelling "BANGARANG" I was like WAIT A MINUTE!!! B ANGARANG. Jaal is seeping into everything in my life. And if I'm not mistaken, the boys/Hook was saying Rufio Rufio... Rufi and bang in same general sentence. Not so good... OH GODS, what if Jaal plays the gentleman, only to rufi and bang us later.

I wouldn't look for it in game because I doubt the devs would have incorporated a feature like that, cool as it would be. Not to be too negative, but honestly they can barely get facial animations right.

What happened, ladyconsular? No one's been negative in here so my guess is it's elsewhere. Either way, it's sad to here you won't be here as often :/ EDIT; never mind, I saw your answer on the last page! It won't be long before we get more info on Jaal! I'll still check in. Basically I come here to escape the real world and it's negativity, but sadly a few other threads have just tainted me. I guess I should not have involved myself, but I wanted to try and help, and I have a VERY hot temper so my limits being pushed to directly yelling at a mod is not a good idea. I totally understand and respect your decision. I will totally miss you and your posts! Should you decide to only pop in every now and then, know you will always be more than welcome

@ladyconsular, I'm sorry some bs ruined your experience here! That's why I don't even bother engaging with most other threads, especially those with a high bs potential (like every thread dedicated to a female character... ). Tho I admit I occasionally peek just for some schadenfreude... (Yes! Suffer! Be forced to endure those "manly" hairstyles and jaws all game long! ) As for the "leaks", I'm not worried yet, I hope BW has more sense than to repeat the Jacob and Thane mistakes of previous games. However, it's also one reason why I probably won't preorder in the end and will wait for the proper romance spoilers that will surely be provided by my kind fellow gamers in the US. Once bitten twice shy and all that.

I wouldn't mind this at all ingame. Also: I absolutely adore this Ryder. She is gorgeous. So buff. Beautiful skin. I want mine to look like her! (I really hope Ryder hasn't She's twiggy arms.) @ladyconsular *hugs* just stay here with us. I don't go to other places besides twitter thread. I know there is not much news atm but somehow we still find something to talk about.

Jacob was a shitty move, made worse by the fact that they intentionally picked the least liked character so that they would avoid more aument of criticism.

Yep, which is why I never romanced Thane and will wait for happy ending confirmation before I jump into bed a romance with Jaal. I'm fine with heartbreaking drama in the middle of a relationship, but I need the consolation of a happy ending, even if it requires some sacrifices. And yes, Jacob was just pretty unforgivable bullshit.

Well.... He could've been okey/better in ME3 had he not rejected the lung transplant. His content was poorly written, I blame the new guy who took over him. He clearly talked about how he wanted to live and all that then suddenly in ME3 he did a complete 180 like he had given up. Blaaaaaaaargh I say. Yeah i'm still kinda upset about it. I really liked his romance....

I really liked his romance.... Did he talk about living/the transplant in the romance? Because I don't recall it in the normal dialogues. He talked about a genetic program that can't help him. Even then though, it'd be something happening later on. From the meeting through most of the dialogues, we do know his situation is critical, so I'd follow his romance path knowing what might happen. I'm sorry though you were upset about it.

I'm sorry though you were upset about it. I think it's in his dossier from the Shadow Broker that Dr. Cha talks about him being a candidate for a lung transplant but that he refused to have himself added to the list. Something that would have made sense in the beginning of his ME2 story but not so much in the end after reuniting with his son and finding love again. But what's done is done. As long as they don't do any of that crap with Jaal (or Liam), I'm good. Although I do spend a decent amount of time in headcanon-land, so I could end up adding Jaal in there too.

If I remember right, they admitted to literally forgetting that Thane was a romance when they wrote about him sacrificing himself (yes, his death was expected, it was more the way he died that pissed me off - and I didn't even romance him. I just liked the character and though that was a lame, anti-climactic way to go). And I suspect the same happened when they planned for Jacob to run off into the sunset with that woman. Like they had it all planned out and then went - 'oh crap, wasn't he a romance? oh, well, not very many people liked him anyway...' Now, I though Jacob was a bit dull but otherwise okay in ME2 (Shep's auto-flirts and 'the Priiize' notwithstanding) but what he does in ME3 is unforgivable (that talk about naming his kid after you? really?). To be fair, neither of their ME2 writers even worked on ME3 if I recall, else I don't think that would have happened.
Both Solas and Anders had a part to play, it's just more tragic if you happen to romance them. I doubt Jaal will be like any of these, because Andromeda's story is supposed to be brighter overall so huge betrayals like that within our squad seem unlikely. If his romance isn't necessarily all sunshine and rainbows (as might be the case because I get the impression Liam is our 'fun' male LI on the squad) I suspect his romance will be more like Cullen, in that he'll have some personal issues, or perhaps Fenris or Kaidan where you're apart for a while but it works out in the end. Even with Alistair, you get a good ending or a bad one depending on your choices in the game - my only issue with that being those choices seem either arbitrary (that one line to harden him) or super shitty because they involve him and other women (Morrigan/Anora...). I'm optimistic that Bioware is aware of the criticism regarding trope cliches among male LIs in particular and have learned from past mistakes.

If they legit forgot these characters were a romance, I'd have fired them if I was in charge of that writer devision. Or at least dropped them from the ME3 project. You aren't doing your job correctly if you're just writing characters and completely disregarding player-related aspects to them. It would be like if Alistair were a companion in DAII and the writer for him (let's say Weekes or Gaider) forgot the player could harden him or romance him. After the many hours Gaider spent with the writing staff concocting different scenerios with Alistair's romance (including the scene where Alistair confesses he still loves you and sacrifices himself). It would be bullshit. I mean, I still love BW but if what you're saying is true, they really need to get their shit together. Things like that are really unforgivable.

I remember when I heard that. I don't know if it's true but it crushes me! Thane is my favorite romance but it's hard to romance him because of the sads!!!
Thankfully, I love Liara and Garrus also. I feel more worse for those who really enjoyed the romances but only cared to romance Thane.
Especially if they were players who played female like me, prefer Ashley alive and wouldn't feel comfortable with romancing Liara or Sam. I know players like this and I felt really bad there was no male option for them in this case you know??

I agree, it's a pretty terrible mistake to make. I know things can get complicated when characters switch writers, but it definitely does the former writers a huge disservice when you make basic mistakes like that. But I've definitely heard the 'oops we forgot' excuse among fans enough that I don't think it's a rumor... It very well could be though, but in-game evidence certainly supports it. I'm just not sure which is worse - that they forgot, or that they knew but gave those things the go-ahead anyway. I also love Bioware and they have great writers and some amazing characters and story moments, but they missed the mark here in my opinion regardless of the reason for it.

I've tried but it's not my thing, not in irl and not in games. Which is why I was really pissed at how ME3 romances for straight females were handled, especially if Kaided was kabooom and Garrus was not romanced. I know this is old stuff but I really hope Bioware never repeat this mistake.

I know players like this and I felt really bad there was no male option for them in this case you know??Yeah the fact straight femshep could end up with no romance options in ME3 was a huge oversight. Thane dies, Jacob's "moved on", Kaidan could be dead and Garrus is only available if you previously romanced him... In that situation it's either gay or go home.

Negativity time woo!
ME3 was just a straight up mess in so many ways, and they didn't put even close to the thought or effort into it that they should have. I still haven't forgiven BioWare for it and I don't think the fixed ending fixed it at all.
All I can hope is that they've learned from that mistake in many ways and that they pay the proper attention to their story beats. And that they've learned by now to stop screwing over anyone who isn't a straight male in the romance department.
I have a lot of hope for Andromeda character-wise. Story-wise, I'm a bit skeptical. But that's because the main stories have been kind of bad for a while (looking at you, DAI. Solas was your only saving grace in the main story).

You know what? I can't do this anymore. It was fun here for a few weeks, but everyone is losing their tempers, spamming or arguing. It's so negative and ruining my excitement. I'll pop in sometimes to reply to stuff, but until we get actual news, I won't log in as often. Not in Jaal thread, surely?? I've not seen any lost tempers or arguing... maybe a bit of spamming but we don't have much to talk about

Yep! That was confirmed just recently. It'll be in my next news update She wrote ME3 Kaidan. Though unfortunately shes not on twitter. She wrote ME3 Kaidan. She wrote ME3 Kaidan. IKR?!?! Kaidan... Shepard running towards Kaidan on Mars as the music crescendos, his hand outstretched, everything slows, he watches at Kaidan is smashed against the wreckage... AHHHHHHHHHH NO NO I'M PLAYING FEMSHEP AND ROMANCING LIARA AND WILL BE AMAZING Soon, Kaidan I shall return to thee my love, soon.

Well, keep in mind this is not an "official" forum so the mods here on not BW employees; they're just random people who escaped from the BSN and started this forum up. So no need to kowtow to them; I mean, respect the rule of law obviously, but if someone says something awful, mod or no, I'm all in favor of putting them in their place. Then again I also haven't visited any other thread except this one in days. It's now the only thread that populates on my "Participated" button.
