To be quite and perhaps unflatteringly honest, the preciousness over Garrus by both a lot of the fandom and some of the devs annoys me. Characters don't exist to 'top' Garrus as if he was THE highlight of the original Mass Effect squadmates. Not everything is trying to "replace" Garrus in people's hearts. Visors don't belong to Garrus, they're typical scifi, Mass Effecty things. I see some callbacks design-wise to Garrus, but to dislike a new character over that already is silliness. I don't see anyone else saying that other characters are trying to 'top' original trilogy characters. That sole honor goes to the oh so amazing and irreplaceable Garrus.  |

Well it is near and around this time(ish) or in about an hour they drop something. I think today'll probably the day to expect anything. If there is nothing today, I doubt tomorrow will bring anything new either. Will just have to wait and see, though I'm keeping my fingers crossed. This week has been dyer  (  ) Did they drop the last cinematic trailer on a Thurs or Friday? I CAN'T REMEMBER.  It was not friday because I was working and didn't have time to see it the day it was released. I'm pretty sure about it. I want new trailer!  |

Just because they are both aliens and have visors doesn't mean that they are trying to replace Garrus with Jaal, at this point we know nothing about his personality, and to assume that he is just a replacement is pretty silly, I think a lot of people have to remember that these are two, separate, standalone characters.

I'm going by the time the last trailer dropped here in the UK, it was around 5:00pm, so 10:00am in Edmonton and midday in Montreal? Though a tweet in the Twitter thread seems to suggest we are getting the video next week now and nothing this week since the BioWare team are busy flying around promoting the game and showing it to the press. |

While I have to agree with you over the defensive nature of lots of people in the fandom (which I don't really understand nor like for any character) I have to disagree with the "Well no one's comparing anyone else." I've seen people compare Jaal to Thane as well, Peebee to Liara, Vetra to Garrus and Nyreen, and Sara and Ryder of course to Shepard. I don't know about any of the other characters but I wouldn't be surprised. It just sort of comes with being a sequel (although I prefer not to compare characters like that, it sort of discredits the devs efforts) |

I'm not looking at ANY of the new characters in MEA as 'replacements'. People that do are either talking out of their rears or setting themselves up for disappointment. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that Jaal is significantly better looking than other male Angara we see even when everything is finalized. I doubt they'll all be as detailed as him with markings on his head either. Now I'm imagining Jaal being a major heartthrob among his people. Uh oh! It looks terrible, I hope it won't be in game like that. Oh they will look like that. The Angara are a race of unfinished, literal squishy Play-Doh people. Jaal is the only finished one, but even he's in danger of falling apart if you handle him too hard. Careful in those romance scenes. But for real, the idea of a bunch of the Angara coming at Ryder still looking like that is honestly horrifying. It'd be the scariest thing in the game! |

All characters are going to have similarities to past companions which is understandable, but to consider them to be replacements? Lmao no... Garrus isn't the be-all-and-end-all of companions and while yes, Jaal has a visor and yes he seems to be the most popular companion so far but in no way is he there to replace Garrus. Jaal is to be his own person, as well as the others. Why are people like this |
