I have a feeling they knew what they were doing, so not liking him seems pretty unlikely. Even a female dev was gushing over his butt. despite the fact we havent actually seen his but? X'D xx I have a feeling it's his outfit he wears. Even though his butt is covered in the toy. Maybe some other outfit?

But what if we don't like him? At least, nobody will take these 70 thread pages from us I have a feeling they knew what they were doing, so not liking him seems pretty unlikely. Even a female dev was gushing over his butt. There was also a male dev saying he loved Jaal too. A level designer, if I remember right. I posted the tweet a few dozen or so pages back. That tells me he's a pretty cool character even aside from his appeal to the female staff. Well, the Solas thread got way longer than this one with just a name, a tiny picture of some bald dude in furs, and the words 'elven apostate.' And... actually some of our speculations came true... Speculate only on positive stuff guys, okay!?

Okay but in all seriousness I'm actually very curious about Angaran anatomy (in an innocent way, I swear) I mean they look like they have soft skin right? As opposed to Turians or Krogan. Except their head? Like where Jaal has those patterns, it looks like a shell, for the lack of a better term. And what's with the back of their heads??

How do you stare at a Sniper's butt? They have to stay still long enough to line up their shot right? That gives ample time to check out what the cat's packing in the trunk. Sorry for not posting often, I try not to spam unless I have anything good to say in order to contribute to the conversation.

Omg okay but. Imagine Jaal trying to convince himself that it's just, y'know, curiosity. They're from another galaxy after all! It only makes sense that he would want to learn everything he could about this mysterious "Pathfinder". And besides, it's his job to keep an eye on him, so it's only natural that he watches his every move and basically follows him around. Right? Yeah, totally. And Ryder being kinda weirded out by this new alien who seems to not trust him at all and has no social skills (because of course Jaal is awkward af around Ryder, I mean, how do you even talk to aliens from another galaxy? Right? That's the only reason, nothing else), which must be the reason he's being bombarded with questions. And after a while he realizes that Jaal is actually just interested. And teases him about it. Or Jaal being jealous of Ryder's flirting (or even like one-offs? Because we know those will be in the game?) with other people but not admitting it to himself, and playing it off as "We have an important mission, we don't have time for your flirting, Ryder." and when Ryder flirts with him, he's just baffled, like, why is this small alien person- is he- no way. And then he realizes he was just jealous the whole time. OR Ryder saving Jaal's life in an important mission and Jaal being like. Wow. I didn't know he could do that. And boom, respect. Or vice versa and Jaal suddenly realizing he actually cares a lot about this weird alien ape and trying to focus on the mission and ignore it, but obviously failing whenever Ryder is around. But still keeping quiet about it and doing everything he can to protect Ryder? Maybe after a sacrifice or two Ryder is finally like, what are you doing? You can't jeopardize the mission! and Jaal admitting he did it to save Ryder. And just. Quiet understanding. and then ALL the bang (or who knows maybe Jaal would be very straightforward and be like "damn" and Ryder freaking out because what? Alien? New Galaxy? Pink cat squid? There wasn't a briefing for this- but he's also kinda intrigued because Jaal is mysterious and kinda intimidating but in a good way and suddenly he can't stop thinking about him )
((or it could be the other way around and Ryder being super straightforward and Jaal being like what? And trying to ignore it but also being slightly amused and reciprocating every now and then just for the sake of seeing his reaction and then of course, he realizes he actually has feelings for Ryder)) It is an absolute crime that these brain thoughts of yours don't have any likes! I want all of these I appreciate that Stickaroo, sorry I'm lazy so I'm using your comment to reply to palinopsia. Okay, those are certainly interesting ideas, but imagine Jaal actually in love with Ryder and finally coming to terms with it. I believe it's been touched on that Jaal is seemingly an important person among his people if the latest trailer is any indication. If that's the case, what would be the Angaran reaction to someone of high rank falling in love with a non-Angaran? Would they be open-minded about it? Or would they scoff at the notion, and be relatively disgusted? Would they strip him of his high station? Possibly banish him for it? (God, my heart would break) There would likely be a lot of anger, sadness and frustration in Jaal if the latter is true. But he just cannot bring himself to be angry at or hate you for his fate. He could never regret discovering what an amazing creature you are, and falling in love with the person you've been growing into. And with one more kiss, he swears his love, loyalty, and support. He will follow you anywhere, even if for some strange reason your mission were to take you back to your home. And after a night of passion, while you sleep, he slips out to speak with the Angara. He knows full well they could choose to shoot him on sight if he turns up, but he must negotiate with the Angaran people. They must not abandon the Pathfinder's cause simply because they cannot understand his relationship with an alien. Vetra catches Jaal preparing to leave and inquires what he intends to do. Hesitantly, Jaal gives the jist of his plan in a somewhat frustrated tone and asks Vetra to take care of Ryder should he not return. Vetra refuses, and says she is coming with him. Jaal tries to refuse, but Vetra is insistant. She explains that she is a pathfinder too, so if he is going to do something beneficial to the pathfinder cause she wants to be apart of it. Jaal is silent, and Vetra continues on saying Jaal hasn't existed beside humans for very long so likely doesn't know. But humans don't cope very well with the loss of a loved one, and the more beloved the one they lose, the harder it is for them. Vetra doesn't want to see that kind of grief on the face of her friend, so she is going to make sure Jaal comes back alive. And omg why is this turning into a story?

But you could totally be right and its harder... Shell like. Maybe not rough but it could feel like our forehead, hard with skin on it? But what fascinates me tho most are their feet and hands... I normally really dont like feet... They are ugly and stinky. But they are so different on the Angara. And holding hands is very important! How will Ryder hold hands with Jaal? How will they fit their hands together?

Oh, and for reference I don't mean the tumblr content scaring me per se. I mean the actual site because it intimidated me and I had no idea how to use it after once trying to make an account
Either way, I think the Jaal fanbase on bsn has been very tame and nice.

Omgomgomg okay but I actually had the same idea a few pages ago- Jaal having to choose between Ryder and his people. But man never in this level of detail?! I love this idea. It's so sweet and I just. Oh man. And the Angara seem to me like people with very strong culture and traditions? So I can totally see them freaking out over someone with a high rank being in a relationship with an alien. Or what if he has like, an "intended" that he's supposed to marry? Maybe because he's royalty? Idk or what if it's forbidden for soldiers to have mates or maybe it's just taboo? What if this happens early in their relationship though? I don't want to imagine the consequences... On a lighter note. Imagine Ryder having to perform all these weird ass rituals to prove his worth to the Angaran council or whatever. I'd love to see that

Just reading that makes my heart break for Jaal. He deserves better that that from his people. And tbh I really hope we dont get anything of that scale ingame. Cultural misunderstandings sure. Maybe some a bit angst in between to spice everything up a bit. But not that much. I'm not sure I can take another romance with that much heartbreak. BUT this is still beautiful. Maybe you make an early fanfiction out of it? (The best post war ff Ive ever read was written pre ME3 - so go for it!)

How will they fit their hands together? Look on the side of his head where there is a chunk of flesh missing. You can see soft pink skin under it. Looks tender. Ah I didn't mean the fleshy ear/neck thingies they have. I ment literally their forehead, where he has the colorful markings.

Nothing about Jaal looks rough tbh, just... slippery would be the word I guess. Wow... I just realized how pretty his skin is...

Jaal ama Darav: A middle aged, slippery, pink alien cat squid, who happens to have enormously broad shoulders. I'm okay with that
