By the Goddess. Just had to catch up by reading like 6 pages and now that I am finally done, I have to go away again. Before I do, quick catch up. I'll be playing as Scott Ryder, since I like the name, and yes I don't see how the Jaal fandom is considered crazy at this point already. That seems to me to be a bit of a broad sweeping generalization. If getting excited about a character is crazy, then I guess everyone here is crazy since I think there is at least one character everyone is excited about meeting. Anyway, boy does this thread move fast. I'll be gone for like 2 hours and it'll be page 1046 Same? It seems like a lot of people will be changing the names though. I really like the name Scott and Sara is okay, although I wish they kept the h. I'm excited to see characters calling Scott/Sara by name though. Especially with other Ryders, or maybe when someone gets really angry at them? Or in emotional scenes in general, and I mean any kind of emotion. It makes it more realistic imo. And maybe when Ryder is low on health or takes a lot of damage in battle, your squadmates will shout "Scott/Sara, no!" instead of "Ryder" which would be a very nice addition. Ok sorry this is kinda off topic

I'm gong to keep Sara as the name 1st play through to get a feel on how often it's used. My Ryder will have red hair. I want freckles, customizable freckles. I want to be able to place them where I want. I want curly hair too. My Ryder will probably be an engineer or an infiltrater. Or a mix of both. I usually play my characters as funny/sarcastic. But I can be serious when need be. I will have Liam as my first LI, if available. I usually go with the safe LI first so I can get a feel for the rest of the squadies. I'm this close to ditching Liam for Jaal, if he's available. I don't want to be the bad influence here but I still think the aliens are a lot more interesting than the humans. Not trying to get you to ditch Liam as the personality they have revealed for him sort of reminds me of a human garrus so im hoping they have made the human LI's more interesting. HOWEVER!!!!! I always go for the unusual looking aliens first XD would have romanced wrex if i had the chance, then garrus, then thane, and i would have romanced Javik if given the chance..... I think im bias however Ja'al is very nice XD (at least to look at and im sure he will sound sexy and have an awesome personality) I do trust bioware to not mess it up like the mass effect 3 ending. and have fun with who ever you choose ryder to bang Oh I love me an alien romance. I love Garrus and Thane. I was set on Liam since I first saw him. I hope they release more footage of Jaal. Speaking and interacting with Ryder or squadmates/NPC.

LOL I peek in the Cora thread every once in awhile. They still have a problem with her hair. I like her hair. I want a version of it for my Ryder. Not the same. I don't like my characters having the same hair as my squadmates. My first Ryder I want curly hair and 2nd a version of Cora's. I hope they give us good hair options. We've been complaining about crappy hair options for years.

I'm having hard time deciding if I should keep the name Sara or not. I don't really care for the name (there's been way too many Saaras on Finnish media lately) but I'd love to hear others say it. It'd either grow on me or annoy me the whole game. I'm not sure if I want to risk it. I said that I wouldn't decide my LI before I get to actually play the game but I'm starting to show some worrisome biases already. no... please, i don't want to be disappointed...

I really really hope they give us curly hair this time. I modded ME3 so that my Shep looked like this. I really love this short curly hair. I guess I'll be happy enough if the hair in MEA wont be tooooo cringe worthy... XD

I'll be playing as Sara! I will keep her name but fiddle with her appearance. Sentinel is my favorite class, but I might switch it up for flying vanguard or pyromaniac, depends on how I feel!

Owliness , I apologize for my perversion. It is mostly for laughs! I'm a 6 months pregnant woman who's dying to play MEA before I deliver! I was always interested in Garrus for his personality and his loyalty, and dat voice. I'm just here to have fun with a few innuendos here and there! I enjoy the conversation as well as the friends! So welcome!!! First off, thanks for the warm welcome I actually wrote an answer already but because of my stupidity and the lack of a proper saving system for posts you're already working on ...it's gone now and I have to start again. I should start to save my texts manually every few minutes or so. Anyway...don't wanna complain anymore just going to try to scrap together what I wanted to say before. I do get the urge to think about romance stuff in detail as well. I'm a very curious person at times it's just...this is an open forum. You can read here without registration so...the whole world can read here if it choses to do so and I think that some thoughts ought to be a little more private. Or in fanfictions. I love romances in games. I was a bit disappointed with ME1 there because I didn't think that Kaidan was that interesting so my F!Shep ended up with Liara and I stayed loyal to her even through ME2 when she's really trying her hardest to give you the cold shoulder. And it was a bit hard because when Garrus came up...well...I loved him. Dunno why...I liked him in 1, sure but usually I wouldn't take him with me and sometimes his world view was a bit...but when he appeared in 2...wow...it was just like magic in the air and excitement (and that damn voice!) and everything was just...perfect. So had to do a second playthrough for him (and a third with M!Shep for Tali...but...well...) I disgress... I love romances. In ME, Dragon Age, etc...for me it is an very important part of a story and helps me relate and live out my really sappy soft side but it's not everything. And I tend to be a bit careful where I invest my feelings in. So even though I was really positively surprised by Jaal - there were a few others like me that only knew the Angarans through some wishy washy looking npcs in Saras last trailer when she talks to Sloane - and that got me for the first time really interested into the Angaran race, I'm a bit wary. It doesn't help me to go imagine stuff when the reality might be completely different and I end up disappointed. Though I doubt it. I started a new game in DA:I recently and I'm surprised by how much I love the dialogues and interaction between all the characters. So...I'm very certain that I will get drawn into the dynamics by Andromeda as well and love every minute of it! Other aspects for me for now are just more important than his bare chest oder butt...though I admit I will have a look on his pixel behind if given the chance But I might not tell you what I think So...okay...this ended up a lot longer then my initial attempt and carried me over to another side...but yeah...I will take your advice and take perverted comments with humor or look out for another topic. On that note...I did write about a little, far fetched theory of mine with a lot of logic holes in it. Will give it another try. While reading this thread a lot of people voiced a lot of my thoughts already. I spotted the Angarans in one of the first trailers as well... And since trailers are mostly a mixture of different scenes and voice over often not even related to the shown scene that tell a story that might not even have anything to do with what the game is really about...it made me wonder about the Pathfinder's first meeting with the Angaran or more specific: Jaal. The Angarans in the picture above seem to be in the vault. What if they actually took the Pathfinder prisoner? So we are in the vault doing our exploration and then a couple of (wild) Angarans appear with some heavy armored battle ships and all that and 'invite' us to come visit them in their city. As a sign of good faith they let us take our own shuttle/ship but draw a gun in our face once we step out on their home ground and escort us to their leader. I think it might be interesting if Ryder and Jaal if not met face to face maybe spoke before...Jaal as a kind of military leader that ordered the capture of that alien found in the vault (and who looked rather smug to me when he came down the stairs) and invited him via radio in the first place. Maybe he was even there in the first place but didn't reveal himself. I think I like the idea of the Angarans taking a more practical approach themselves. If they are indeed in conflict with the Kett and if humans or the Pathfinder is in someway special (in controlling the Remnant tech maybe) they could try to take advantage of that and try to use these newcomers to that end. Well...I might be completely wrong of course and Ryder landed in the midst of the Angarans more by accident or because he tried to establish his first official contact with them (after all the Angarans met humans before I would think) but when I look at Jaal I see a very ambitious confident man with experience. Battle scars and all that. But maybe he is a bit like Garrus who wasn't always as confident as he looked. But I hope that the similarities are mostly on the visible front. Though I really loved Garrus, Jaal being like him would well...for one rob me of the uniqueness that was Garrus for me and the two the chance to get to know another very interesting character. And on Jaal concerning his age...(going to borrow another picture here without highlighting the proper area myself) I see laugh lines around his eyes And that's something I mostly see in men around thirty-ish. Okay, it might more be a skin thing...maybe it's a bit leathery and we dunno how old Angarans can get and stuff...but as a human looking at it I see a man in his mid to end-thirties with a sense of humor I hope it's dry. I like subtle dry remarks.

I think for my first play through, I may keep the default name to hear others actually use it. Appearance will probably change for sure. I have a tendency to play green-eyed redheads even when I go into a play through with something else in mind. Only exception in recent history was my Elf lady from DAI. Gave her short hair and made it white. Still gave her green eyes, though that was more to match the rift magic. As for class and personality, definitely something Infiltrator-ish with slam thrown in for fun. And snark. All the snark. I usually tend to play diplomatically where able but when the moment is ripe for a left-field snark of epic portions, I take it. Also going to play Sara as believing in the best of people, which might not go over well if we're able to sympathize with the Kett at all. Especially if the Angara and Kett are at odds. It'll make for interesting tension between Sara and Jaal since he's the one I want to romance first. (Second play through I'm considering maybe Kallo if available or Liam with a more reckless ask questions later Sara. :3)

I like subtle dry remarks. I love that theory! Also, where is that picture from? The Angaran in the vault? Is it from the first cinematic trailer? I completely missed that, wow. I can totally see something like that happening - the Angara hearing about these aliens looking for the vaults and they decide it's better to be safe than sorry. Also notice how Ryder is on his own in the entire scene? When soldiers are there to greet him, pointing their guns at him AND when he's meeting Jaal. I can't see any squadmates anywhere? So maybe he was the only one that got captured, I can totally see that happening. But that would mean the Angara are interested in the vaults as much as the Kett are (which, I'm assuming is a lot) so that might be a reason for why the Kett and Angara aren't friendly - if that is the case, at least. But I have a feeling it is, because why else would the Angara accept to ally with us? We must have a common enemy- or at least that's my guess. (Also, he does look smug, doesn't he? I can almost see a smile, even. Smug military leader with a dry sense of humour. I like that idea, I think it fits his design.) Also yeah I noticed the laugh lines as well. Makes him look kinda old though? Maybe that's just me. It could also be a race thing, it kinda reminds me of cats. Btw even the funko pop toy looks like he has bags under his eyes? Along with the crow's feet, makes me think he's kinda tired as well - in the sense that he won't take shit from anyone.

Man this thread moves fast! But okay I wanted to point out that there's this guy that can be seen for a split second in the trailer Which gives us an idea of how Angarans look like and I'd say this guy looks pretty similar to Jaal? Maybe it's just me. Also one of the things I noticed when watching the trailer again (for the 50th time) Are those... freckles? Also! I was thinking the Angaran homeworld (I'm assuming it's their homeworld at least) from what we've seen in the trailer and some concept arts might be the bioluminescent planet we've seen? Maybe? Just maybe? And I was wondering, what if the Angara are bioluminescent as well? Like, what if those patterns on their head (assuming Jaal isn't the only one that has them) glow? That would be so cool? Ohhh freckles! I love freckles! I want to count them. Also, the idea with glowing Angaras.... Ohhhh so awesome! I'd totally dig that. Only problem... Do you remember Sebastians glowing armor? It's hard to sneak onto someone when ones glowing XD I actually just noticed this yesterday, but if you watch the N7 day cinematic trailer, when you see what appears to be Angarans from the side for a split second, areas on their head do seem to be glowing! I tend to be really fascinated by bioluminescent things so this makes me even more excited to get to know the Angarans.

Hope I got my formatting right... I love looking back on pics like this. They were teasing us the whole time with Cora standing right there! And hiding Vetra behind a bush. And the Angarans you pointed out in the far background on the right, a little behind that group of people! (lol I didn't realize you had already spotted them) There's probably more hints in this image that we'll only recognize after more is revealed. Sneeeaaky BioWare.

Think that's just lighting from whatever is in front of them personally.
Not sure bioluminescence would be that great a thing considering that in the animal world it is usually a defence method to illustrate a hazard, thus it doesn't make so much sense for what you'd presume is one of the apex species in Andromeda.

Ahhh I know the trailer doesn't offer much so it could just be weird lighting, but the one in the back that appears to be brightly glowing pink/orange makes me pretty confident and hopeful for now. I'm wondering if the glow intensity could end up being linked to their emotions, because that would lead to some interesting scenes I think. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It should be the N7 trailer. Someone mentioned it and I'm a bit lazy to look it up myself, sorry. But I have to shoot that question right back at you for this picture: In what trailer does this one come up and...what minute...? I tried to get a better look at the Angara in their reveal scene by going through the frames in hope to determine if one of the Angarans might be Jaal or if it's possible to see where he comes from before he stands right in front of Ryder...but the picture above...where to find it?

Think that's just lighting from whatever is in front of them personally. Not sure bioluminescence would be that great a thing considering that in the animal world it is usually a defence method to illustrate a hazard, thus it doesn't make so much sense for what you'd presume is one of the apex species in Andromeda. Yeah bio luminescence is really only exhibited in environments that lack a natural light source, e.g. deep sea and caves. I don't see it happening with the Angara when we can see their planet is fully lit in the day. I think it's just funky lighting on their interestingly shaped heads. Not that I'd be against it haha

True, but I'm sure they could come up with some absurd reason and besides, I'm no expert but there are other uses for bioluminescence in nature. It could be used for luring prey or attracting mates (wink wink nudge nudge). It could be a defense method as well. Maybe an ancestral thing that they don't really have much use for anymore but haven't evolved to the point where it's completely gone? We don't know anything about other life forms on their homeworld, what kind of predators there are, etc. So I guess we can't really say anything. But it does look like lighting to me as well, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up. It'd just be really nice if it was true. Also since they look like squids and what with the concept art with the waterfall, people were speculating they could be semi-aquatic right? Well, then it would make more sense for them to be bioluminescent, since it's more common in aquatic animals.

Good eye! I was so focused on my (not) quarians I totally missed Cora standing right there! That whole time the fanbase is going 'WHERE IS CORA!?" the devs be like

Yeah it's the N7 trailer, I found it hahah. Also that picture is from the second cinematic trailer, as Jaal is walking down the stairs and we see the back of his head, that guy's face is there in the top right corner. The exact minute (or rather, second) is 1:08 and he's not even there for a full second, so.

Nice find And while I was rewatching that part...Scott was saying something along the lines of "The Archon is a master of his game. We're about to change the rules."...so...it makes me think if maybe that's why we contact the Angara in the first place. Totally different reason we meet up with them than I thought of before...but it would fit...and...well...it's just silly speculation on my part anyway But if we'd do it to change the rules seems to me that before we didn't really have a reason to contact them or they were hostile before and we try to win them as allies.

It's stupid I know and it's really turning me off the Cora thread which is a pity. I'm looking forward to meeting her.
