I hope we get more information/views about stuff this week. I don't really care about Peebee so last week was a bit of a disappointment info-wise. Also it's obvious from reading that people were taking the stuff we wrote about early on in the thread way too seriously. Those were the days.

We might not, since he wasn't part of the original expedition. If that's their excuse for not giving us info on him, I will be very disappointed. I mean, Peebee, Vetra and Drack weren't originally part of the Pathfinder team, so we shouldn't get profiles for them, either, if that's how their logic works. I think we'll be getting a character profile for Jaal, but probably after everyone else we've seen so far. I wonder if they'll release profiles for crew members as well? Then his might be released after some of those as well. Hopefully by the time we get some real information on him the game won't be out yet...

They've been so tight lipped about him, I'm wondering if they'll even confirm he's a squadmate before launch.

Back! Ok so welcome to all the newcomers to this thread! Despite what may or not be circulating around the interwebs, this isn't a weird or crazy place, just a lot of fans who are really intrigued by Jaal and like his design to talk and speculate and discuss. I'm not sure but was it a dev who responded a little negatively to the Jaal fandom? I wouldn't think it would be. I mean, what would they rather want from the fans? Disinterested complacency and ambivalence? Racist, sexist, anti-SJW anti-EA "IHATEYOUBIOWARE" rants? Or excited, enthusiastic fans, passionately and respectfully discussing with equal interest and a good dash of humour about a character they are excited about meeting? Anyway, on topic, kind of, in that picture you linked fialka , the one with Avina, Cora and Vetra on the Nexus, I am pretty sure there is a quarian looking figure in the far far background? Kind of greeny blue? Sort of looks like a male quarian to me, but I could be wrong. And as a sidenote, if I were the creator and or writer of Jaal, I'd be really humbled by the positive and enthusastic response to the characters brief unveiling. This thread is hardly crazy or weird. Its a really positive and friendly space, much like a lot of other areas on the BSN to be fair (excluding the Political Thread ), which is why I come to this site to talk about the games, and avoid reddit and youtube like the plague.

I really doubt she was talking about this forum. I suspect tweets and places like reddit and Tumblr are a bit... problematic. I don't think she ment it in a negative way... I know why you guys understood it that way but she wrote me that this is what makes ME fandom great. Since I personally never encountered the bad sides of Tali and Garrus fandom I didn't feel like she was attacking me? They were not the best choices to be compared to, especially Tali from the old days on BSN. She probably doesn't know what happened. As for some of the posts in the thread from earlier, I can assure anyone new that most of it was jokes, while other parts were based on legit info we were trying to figure out. The nudity talk was based on an actual leak, as well as the more lewd comments that were directly started by the devs. It's all in good fun!

It's my favourite ME:A character thread in fact and I don't even want to romance Jaal! In the grand scheme of things and I'm a vet of BSN, I've seen much weirder stuff. This is very tame and it's just shits and giggles, nothing to clutch your pearls over new blood, imo. Just BSN being BSN.

It's like the Solas thread. People were misunderstood there too. Only difference here is we don't have any leader or spokesperson for this one. Everyone just combines together. It's lovely. We spent sooo long on Ashe's stream trying to figure out who that Quarian-like person was, and concluded it's probably just an Angara. On the planet in the gameplay trailer you see a lot of people wearing hooded civilian outfits too, but none are Quarians.

Where exactly? I'm still hoping for quarians in Andromeda but I only see Cora, Vetra, Avina, 2 Angarans in the background (and possibly a third blocked by some guy with a gray-red jacket) in that picture, everyone else looks human to me? If you're talking about the guy I think you're talking about (to the left of the guy with the gray-red jacket with his back to us - because you said blue-green and that's the only figure that fits that description as far as I can see) a lot of people have been speculating that that's a quarian but personally I'm pretty sure that's an Angaran what with the ear-squid-flap things on their heads. Also can I just point out that I love the Angaran colours? Their clothes and their skin, from what we've seen of them they tend to wear vibrant colours which I think is pretty cool, and their skin tones are usually pastel colours, blue, purple and pink and I think I even saw a green one? I love all those colours, it gives them a very friendly and peaceful look imo

Ohhh freckles! I love freckles! I want to count them. Also, the idea with glowing Angaras.... Ohhhh so awesome! I'd totally dig that. Only problem... Do you remember Sebastians glowing armor? It's hard to sneak onto someone when ones glowing XD I actually just noticed this yesterday, but if you watch the N7 day cinematic trailer, when you see what appears to be Angarans from the side for a split second, areas on their head do seem to be glowing! I tend to be really fascinated by bioluminescent things so this makes me even more excited to get to know the Angarans. There is a good chance the planet with the bioluminescent vegetation is the Angara's homeworld. They were also referred to as "integrated into their enviroment", if they were really talking about the Angara in the streamed video, but I assume they did. It would make a nice visual connection to emphasize this connection. Plus we had already an alien species that used light for communication, the Hanar. Maybe they expanded a bit on this with the Angara and they use bioluminescence as a way to express feelings. I really want to see this. Ryder: "Hm, it's a bit dark in here. Jaal, could you come over here?" pokes Jaal in the ribsJaal:"Ow, what was that for?" Ryder:"Thanks, this is much better."

All the possibilities. Maybe some flashing as warning, wave-like for laughter, subdued for sadness, a soft pink glow for happiness/love? Even its never part of the game, I will put this into my headcanon and it will stay there forever!

Hahah. I hadn't considered that, but I think that could be said about most all characters before they were truly shown for MEA. I mean, it happened with DAI too with characters like Solas and Dorian if I recall. But, I am getting the impression that the fancy for Jaal in MEA might be a bit wider spread or bigger if it's getting called out (if this is the reason why). She said the Garrus and Tali fandoms combined are equally crazy to Jaal's, so yeah, I'd say he might pass Solas if this keeps up! the thing with Solas' fandom is that it was very meager to start with. the people who posted were similarly super keen/intrigued by him (and similarly peppy/warm/chatty, speculative and interested in the lore/plot-tied aspects of the character, and likely to pore over every tiny scrap they had, as the Jaal people), but they were few, and many people were pretty uninterested in him, citing things like bland boring design (now we know how wrong they were ofc lmao*). and there were a number of complaints about the way he looks, mostly centered on his baldness and a few about his facial features (I recall a number of unfavorable comparisons to characters like Voldemort, lol) - nothing in the order of what female characters' designs tend to be on the receiving end of though of course (compare Cassandra then, Cora now, etc). Solas' fandom exploded after the game released and people spent time with him, and finished the game and got The Revelation (with or without romance). in contrast the response to Jaal has been like a rocket out the starting gate (being a striking alien of a new species is probably a lot to do with it). interesting to think about the differences between the fandoms/responses Jaal's awesomeness aside, the similarities between the two fandoms btw are a significant part of this thread's draw for me. *btw those of us in those days Knew, and I'll never stop being like about that whole thing til the end of time. I think with Jaal his importance is readily apparent and we all think it. edit: catching up on the thread now I see fialka already covered a lot of these points ^^

Okay, so I was thinking it looks like Jaal came from that building in the back and everyone (including the Angaran lady in red) sort of stepped out of his way and then he walked down the stairs. And it was just a feeling (and hope bc that would make him look very badass) but I found this Listen... I have reason to believe that might be Jaal in the background, but we can only see half of him bc of the lady's leg. Okay, so notice the armors? The soldiers in the beginning escorting Ryder are all wearing mostly black with some yellow and what looks like turquoise in this light, but it's only in some places, mostly shoulders and in small patches. And the arms are all black. Including the shoulders (except the yellow patches) The 5 Angarans in the first picture also have a mix of black and turquoise armor. Okay. So in the first picture, several Angarans can be seen moving in the background, one of them clearly has white arms on his armor, etc. But the one I circled looks like he's moving towards the stairs. And look at his armor. And compare it to Jaal's: We know that he has a turquoise jacket-ish thing that extends below his shoulders and that the rest of his arms are black. Honestly, comparing that to the figure in the first picture, I'm pretty convinced that's Jaal in the background. The figure's armor colouring doesn't look like anything else we've seen in that scene, and I would say it's unique to Jaal. So my point is that Jaal did indeed walk all the way to those stairs as everyone just sort of stepped aside for him (judging by the scene where we see Jaal's face and the lady in red behind him looks like she had just stepped aside for him to pass) which leads me to conclude that Jaal is indeed a high ranking Angaran and maybe even some kind of leader - either way he definitely has some authority. Badass Jaal: confirmed Disclaimer: I'm not taking this post very seriously myself so please don't go all "that's one hell a stretch what are you talking about this is why they're calling us crazy fangirls" like. I know how far fetched this is. I'm just saying, it could be true. Which would be great. But this was meant more as a joke

I hope we get more information/views about stuff this week. I don't really care about Peebee so last week was a bit of a disappointment info-wise. Also it's obvious from reading that people were taking the stuff we wrote about early on in the thread way too seriously. Those were the days. Agreed. I thought it was clear that we weren't being serious? Most of it was just joking around because we all know that wondering what an alien species' junk looks like is stereotypical rousing BSN conversation. I don't want anyone to think they have to watch what they say in this thread because it's too "crazy fangirl". Like palinopsia above, no need for that crossed out section. You're all good! As for information, I think I'll believe Shinobi in that we'll get a gameplay glimpse in a couple of weeks. I don't foresee a new trailer before then so maybe just more of those character kits? Jaal is a complete wildcard in this regard since we haven't actually been introduced to him and we aren't even supposed to officially know his name.

But this was meant more as a joke Mmmm I like this theory, I don't think it's a long shot per se but I did find it difficult to pin point this guy in the background watching it again frame by frame. God we have so little to go on at this point he could very well be someone's bodyguard. "I hear there's a squishy fluff coated thing outside, go check it out for me Jaal."

Its because were just that good XD and they probably left all the clues for us like they did with Ryder's name when we had the song 'ghost rider' then the hidden name tag..... bioware knows what they are doing XD they like to let us think we worked it all out by ourselves XD

I'm just starved for info already. 2.5 seconds in a trailer and fanart is not enough to tide me over!
COME ON MARCH!!!!

I never got to enjoy the newness of DAI at the old forum until Trespasser. It's nice to get to be a part of this and not just catching up on what others already know. I came into Mass Effect only in 2015.
