Who will you play as, Scott or Sara?

I will likely be way too excited and in a hurry to play that I'll just stick with default Scott. Though If possible I wouldn't mind changing the hair.

I never play default and will start with Bro Ryder. Probably call him Franco and give him a glorius 'stache.

My fist playthrough is always with a custom male protagonist, my second playthrough with a custom female character.

Why choose if you can have both?  

Default Scott Ryder if custom options are lacking and don't get me what I want.

Custom Sara Ryder

I'll play as all options at some point I'm sure. Until I've played the game through once, and/or seen lots of footage, I don't really know where my heart will lead me in terms of who is my pathfinder. In fact, there may never be just one ultimate pathfinder for me.

In the original trilogy my canon Shep was Sheploo. Boring, I know, but I became massively attached the millionty times I played ME1, and had to complete the whole trilogy with him as my main Shepard. I've had various custom femSheps, and one other custom dudeShep, but none hold the same place in my heart.

I don't think it'll be the same for MEA though, since there are two separate protags to choose from. Neither seem as iconic as Sheploo, but maybe that's my nostalgia talking. I will definitely be playing at some point with the default Ryders though (both of them), because it'd be wrong not to, somehow.

I'm unsure. The roles are reversed in this game - the female voice actress seems quite dull while the male voice actor is shaping up to be badass, so I might have to pick the male protagonist for the first time ever in a mass effect game.

Custom F!Ryder! I have been planning a variation of the character ever since they announced there was going to be a Mass Effect 4, with varying shades of self-insert shenanigans (while I usually create fully-realized, separate individuals that are their own characters).

I prefer to shape a character through gameplay choices rather than create a character from scratch.  I'm usually too excited to start the game, so forego the 30 - 50 minutes required to make a good custom character.  I save that for my second time through. 

I'll be happy as long as there are nice illusions of long hair, a proper bun or braid.
