Not one Mass Effect game has had a f/f human squadmate romance. I am tired of it, I am hoping Sara can romance Cora. But most likely not, just a guess but this seems to be the default way Jane/Sara = Kaiden/Liam Scott/John = Cora/Ashley. And if the next trailer has romance in it, my guess is Sara and Liam. Unless they make Liam bi, as they did with Kaiden later on. Sorry Kaiden you must be straight until ME 3, Except in my playthroughs I could never choose him over Ash. Haven't has a f/f human romance since Isabella from Dragon Age 2. Couldn't romance Ashley,Miranda,Jack, Cassandra unless playing male. This bother anyone else? What romance you want most? For me it's Sara=Cora I did wanted to romance Ashley and Miranda, Cora not that much but yes it bothers me that every goddammit ME game it just a awful with representation. Also the whole Miranda is the perfect woman and she is straight really got on my nerves playing ME2 and all the fanservice with her character. If FemShep cannot romance her, wtf is all the fanservice for??? I have to say I will not put my hopes up for Cora but there is a possibility that she is bi along side Peebee and Vetra is the straight romance. I would not mind really, if it wasnt for no lesbian companions. I can see myself get really piss off next month. Yeah like Ash and Miranda a lot too. I have a bad feeling about Cora too, it makes me mad and feel powerless. Mass Effect has never had a f/f female human squadmate that can be romanced. The last one I recall is Isabella back in 2011. I like Peebee and Vetra too, but just want them to change it up for once.

Honestly, I'm wondering... What exactly about her romance did you like? Obviously, it's ultimately up to opinions, but was it just because there was no sex scene? Her personality? Because personally I like relationships with a lot of tension, and I just didn't find that in her romance. Josephine's romance in DA:I could have also done with more tension. And Merrill's romance in DA2. There was so much potential that I feel just wasn't ultimately delivered because it's easier to write them a certain way. All of the above. I loved how it was the only romance that didn't force sex on you in the entire Shepard Trilogy and instead was written to be ambiguous so you can have the kind of relationship you want. I loved her personality and how she was just a genuinely good person rather than some morally grey/dark/edgy character. And I loved how her romance was without tension, though her being kidnapped and spying on you can be seen as tension. You mention Merrill and Josephine, those two are my two favorite romances in Dragon Age and in Josephine's case all of Bioware history. Any tension you could have had with Kelly was kind of limited since in order to continue the romance you immediately forgive her without any angst. But whatever. Different strokes for different folks.

All I personally want is Cora to be bi, I am tired of all female human squadmates being straight. Femshep can't romance 1 single human female squadmate throughout the whole trilogy And I agree, their should be more m/m romances too I was always a plan of the pkayer-sexual status of games like Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Dragon Age 2, forbthis exaxt reason. It was true equality in experience (barring some hostile attempts), and meant that all players from all walks could truly enjoy and experience. Was it realistic? Nah. But it was fun, and good. And I don't play video games for realism. Real lofe sucks. Those were fun games, I agree. Funny I said the same thing a while back, I said I know it isn't realistic but why can' they all be bi lol. But it is more realistic then some think, their are lots of bi people out their. It is a game, how is it realistic anyways lol

And yeah, different strokes for different folks. What you describe as ideal doesn't sound romantic at all to me.

[ DREAMY SIGH] That was very nice. Looking back at it, the only ones that didn't have their sexualities confirmed almost-immediately were the straight options, right? Yeah. Cassandra and Cullen were confirmed as LIs but for a little while it wasn't revealed who they were available for, and Rainier and Solas weren't revealed until the end when they revealed all the options. Was I the only one that was actually kinda pissed about that? If a character wasn't available for the straight folks, the devs made sure everyone knew right away so they couldn't get their hopes up. Then they announced Cassandra and Cullen, but refused to tell anyone who they were available to for months, even though both those characters had huge queer fanbases who couldn't help but get their hopes up. That didn't exactly feel inviting to me.

At least with Cassandra, since with Cullen I guess there was debate about whether he should be straight or bi so saying he was bi only for him to be straight would have been bad so makes sense they stayed quiet on it until they were sure, but then they shouldn't have announced him.

Remember the half-hearted "apology" they gave to lesbian fans when this was announced? Like as if they had no control over whether she was straight or not. Oh man, yeah. And then we found out that Cullen was supposed to be bi, but it was cut for time. That whole thing was a total mess. I'm still trying to give this team the benefit of a doubt on this one (it's kinda worth noting that Peebee and Jaal are pretty likely bi, so that might be why they were announced), but I really can't blame anyone for being on the paranoid side right now. BioWare always seems to have better intentions than follow-through when it comes to this kind of thing.

I think one reason we never really got a Cassandra type is that a gay/bi Cassandra would have gotten even more fandom vitriol imo. For the major demographics (straight people), lesbians can only be acceptable if they're feminine and not aggressive or man-hating, especially if she's a central character. And lesbian characters are also more comforting if they're the kinds of characters you're not supposed to take seriously (ex. Sera). Otherwise, you might actually see them as people and feel wounded that they're not straight like you or that they, like lesbians in real life, will either not want to be with you (if you're a man) or hit on you (if you're a woman). Obviously, most straight people are not thinking like that, but there are still some that think those things subconsciously and whine about the gay. And that vocal minority is what these companies assume all straight people think. So, basically, tl;dr: aggressive, not feminine, not straight... pick one.

Hate to admit it; my only issues with Cass were her jaw (it didn't match pre-existing canon, darn it) and that she wasn't Bi, because there was a lot of shipping for her. I admit, I think I can understand their reasoning (she's rathdr classical in some ways), but I think she could have been Bi with litte backlash.

I gotta jump into this conversation. You mentioned Skyrim, and I gotta say, that shit was wack. Yes, you can '' romance '' anyone you did a favor for, but the world around you was still '' men have wives, men are interested in women, women have husbands, women are interested in men. '' Hell, there's a speechcraft skill called '' Allure '' and it ONLY affected the opposite sex, there was no option for the same sex later on. The game doesn't seem to recognize same sex relationships or people of different sexualities at all, which makes the same sex romance feel so detached from the actual game, it feel so weird and... odd. Of course none of this is a problem for a real invested roleplayer but for me it was a bit... ehhhhhh... It did ruin my immersion just a bit, I gotta admit. Though I'm not that much of a Skyrim junkie and there might as well be this huge rainbow land covered in gay that I haven't tapped into lol. Would BW ever go the playersexual route ever again, they need to make sure that the world isn't heteronormative, and that people outside of straight and bisexuality (since playersexuality does translate to bisexuality with me, no matter how much one would headcanon otherwise) exists. That would make the romances feel less detached from the world, something that bugged me IMMENSELY in Skyrim.

I'm once again gonna point out that we're working with a pretty small pool of LIs here, particularly when you keep in mind that BioWare's been slowly evolving on the topic (so ME1-ME2 are probably not the best launching point if you want to figure out what they're thinking now). I think we've had... three characters like Cassandra, arguably? One of whom wasn't romanceable at all. I'm all for pointing out when they're screwing up, I'm just not inclined to think they're being too nefarious about it. More clueless. If we keep pointing it out and they keep ignoring us, then I'll start side-eyeing the writers.
Edit: And that'll teach me not to quote someone I'm responding to.

Just that, they take a look at the love interests and who they can get away with making gay and who they can get away with making straight and who they can get away with making bi, depending on individual writers' priorities. Some writers default to making characters het, some really want more gay content and have to play the game of "who can we afford to make gay/bi with minimal backlash?" As for the characters more arguably like Cassandra, there's not that many, really. Samara was kind of close, I guess, but her romance was relegated to DLC.

That would make the romances feel less detached from the world, something that bugged me IMMENSELY in Skyrim. That's a fair point! I admit, I always felt that Skyrim, as a place, was fairly conservative, so while I'm not surprised there wasn't a great deal of LGBTQ romances being displayed, yeah, it still should have been presented better. Sadly, Fallout 4 was only marginally better, with at least some, if far too rare, non-hetero relationships out in the game world. Wasn't ideal, but it certainly is better. However, I certainly hope that they push it even further in their follow-up games. Though, now that I bring it up, Bioware hasn't made a great deal of non-straight, non-romancable LGBTQ charcters. Only tlone I can think of is Bull's LT. Hopefully, as we begin (and should) be more accepting and aware in IRL society, the same will occur in our media in genuine, good and correct ways.

Please, Bioware? I have high hopes for Vetra, she fill the profile. My hope is that Vetra is Bi. While I have zero interest in romancing her on any toon, I know plenty of male players who want to LI Turian. To me, perfect LI list-- PeeBee (bi or straight) Cora (bi) Liam (straight) Jaal (Bi) Vetra (Bi) Dr. Lexi (lesbian) Reyes (gay) Every single need would be met on the main squad (at least one LI as a squaddie for straight, lesbian or gay players) with options to add extra potential LIs, while hitting many chrcter archetypes. What I expect; Cora (straight) Liam (straight) PeeBee (Bi) Jaal (Bi) Lexi (Lesbian) Reyes (Gay) While not ideal to me, it would at least offer two options to all, with at least one on the main team. Granted, if I was running it, PLAYER SEXUAL, BAY-BEE.

I fully expect that, if Vetra's not a lesbian, then the lesbian will be a human NPC who's not even on our crew.

For me it's Sara=Cora Well tbh, since Cora was revealed I'm forcing myself to not think of her as a f/f romance option because I know she's probably an option only for Scott. I don't want to get my hopes up. This happened once when I played Mass Effect 2 and spent the whole game trying to romance Miranda to then find out she was straight after 20 hours.... Personally, the romance I want the most is Sara/PeeBee. I hope they're going to show a romantic scene between the two of them in the next trailer but I doubt it.

I just want Cora to be bi, why are female human squadmates all straight. I tried to romance Miranda too and Jack, and Ashley lol. I like Peebee too, but too me it makes me think of Femshep/Liara all over again. I just want them to change it up for once.
