Cora is confirmed, but Jaal is speculation until said otherwise by the devs. It's obvious he is, but they refuse to say "yes" when directly asked.

I see IGN is still saying that MEA will have the Playersexual approach despite Bioware on numerous occasions saying they are not.

I am actually happy gay guys got Dorian and Bull at least in DA:I and they were both companions, although it should be Cullen too but this is no way representative of anything. For example Kaidan and Garrus are both good romances overall and Garrus is on the base three games. Straight people got it better, in therms of romance and representation. If I want to make an argument on numbers and quality, gay guys on the other hand should be prioritize and lesbian after that because let us be sincere only Liara was a really good romance and she is a bi character, which means her romance was for straight guys too, that is why she gets a lot more lines and interaction with Shepard. And if I even go further lesbians got it really rough on DA:I with companions, Sera was not at all important and you could kick her at anytime, also she was extremely problematic and this is not even addressed in game. This is why I still think having all companions on the bi spectrum is a lot better(demi, asexual, pan, bi...) Bioware will never get to represente everyone, better to open up all LI companions for all Oh, I agree the s/s romances are the most lacking in the trilogy. Sure, lesbians got the second most options in the trilogy after straight guys, but... as you say, other than Liara they're all flings, mini-romances, or non-squadmates you only get for one game. And in some cases the decision to not make a female character an s/s option made little sense (as with Jack 'I've slept with women before but I don't swing that way' and Tali 'let's link suits... someday but not today.') That's why I made an emphasis on balance. Not necessarily to where every group has the exact same number, but maybe the 'favored' group gets, like, one extra, versus twice as much as everyone else. And yeah, I'm talking actual full romances here. Ideally from our squad, but I think a major NPC with Cullen or Josephine levels of involvement and romance quality can count too. I would argue that Samantha Traynor and Steve Cortez come close - I felt like they were important for the team and had some great dialogue. I can't speak to their romances, but to me personally they made as much of an impact as characters as our actual squad mate James Vega did. If the flings or one-night stands (along the lines of Samara or Allers) are all over the board that doesn't matter as much, I don't think, and frankly I don't care if one group gets more of those. I only included them for completion sake. And because I think if, say, Vega's fans actually got a well done consensual scene instead of the 'yay for date rape!' one in the Citadel DLC, they would have appreciated it. Not as much as a full romance, but still. What they did get sucked - like, what the fuck, Bioware, seriously. Take away the little flings like that, and the ratios don't really change much anyway, except to make it more obvious that lesbian players got shafted pretty bad too. So again, I won't advocate for anyone getting punished with less or being 'owed' more for whatever reason. I'd just like to see less of these giant disparities. Although I admit I was thrilled that Solas and Cullen were extra options in DAI for selfish reasons, I did feel that they should've made either Cullen or Solas bi. And maybe expanded Harding's flirtation into a full developed romance for both genders to even the scales a bit. Perhaps using those resources they could've saved by losing some of those fetch quests everyone hated so much and shrinking those big empty maps a bit...? Just a thought. Not really, Samantha Traynor romance, and I do love her VA and character as a concept, was so cringeworthy that at times it seems more like a male fantasy than anything else. It is not like I disagree with you per se my point is, quality and content, are not overrated. NPCs are never gonna to have banter in the field like this, it is just not the same. I would prefer to have only one core romance with deep connections to the story and companions, like Isabela and Liara than 5 NPCs.

I would prefer to have only one core romance with deep connections to the story and companions, like Isabela and Liara than 5 NPCs. Yeah, I did hear mixed stuff about Sam's romance but didn't play it, which is why I said I couldn't speak to it, just her character. And I would understand why people prefer squadmate romances. But I pointed out Cullen as an example of why I personally wouldn't mind an NPC romance as a main choice, provided it's handled in that way. Not once did I feel like I was missing out on anything by him not being a companion, and he had enough banter around Skyhold to make up for the lack of it on the field. But YYMV. I do agree having a choice of two squad mates for every orientation is best however. But personally, I would prefer a choice between two or three with a little less content than just one 'core' romance with a lot. Because what if I really don't like that one? More options means a bigger chance of me getting someone I really like. And as much as I love the romances in Bioware games, I like that it's a little part of a bigger story rather than a huge focus. But then, I'm someone who generally prefers a small romantic side plot in a novel that's about something else, to a romance novel with a side plot that exists as a means for the characters to get together. Actually, I hate romance novels to be honest! But I love the romances in Bioware games, exactly because it's this fun little thing that happens in the midst of everything else. And I was satisfied with the amount of romance content I got in DAI. Enough that it felt like a real relationship, but not so much that it overshadowed the events of the game.

Wow. Can't say I'm too surprised. Just ... How can anyone this day and age be so utterly ignorant in regards to human (or alien lol) sexuality? It blows my mind.

A character's sexuality "has to be a part of who they are." WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN MAC WALTERS.
Yeah, Cora's definitely bi. She was probably going to be straight, then they decided she needed to be bi, so they cut off her hair and wrote in the bi-space babes background. You know, so her sexuality would now be part of who she really is. MAKES SENSE. /sarcasm

Gotta hope Reyes or whatever mystery gay romance for Scott is pretty. At first, I thought Liam didn't look great, but I think that was just some CG weirdface going on. Reminded me of old Dragon Age: Origins trailers~~ I'm excited to meet Jaal but I don't think I'd want to romance him. Too much neck flesh, imo. Found Jarvik more attractive. (Not that I was pining for a Jarvik romance back in the day) This is what turns me off from Jaal. It's petty but I'm picky so whatever.

Ok, so Tom Taylorson, Scott Ryder's VA, liked both of these tweets. The first was mine tweeting the devs the results of the Poll I did a while back about potential romantic pairings. Scott and Liam got 40 or over 40 votes (can't remember ) and came 3rd as most popular (after SaraxJaal and other romance options). The second was a reply, where they seemed happy that Scott and Liam got a lot of votes. Tom Taylorson liked that tweet also so, take from that what you will, just don't take it to mean a confirmation or anything, just thought it was interesting (also gave me a small ray of hope for bi Liam).

It makes perfect sense. Looks like they've learned from the mistake of ME3. There was the ending, the spoonfed hoodiebrat drama, kissuptoIGNwithDiana and including diversity for diversity’s sake. Yep, making Shep gay for the last game was a mistake. Well sure, there's the Liara-FemShep stuff but asari are the l-word race backed by lore* (though I'm the 'target audience' I've always rolled my eyes about that one). Also Kelly in me2 but c'mon, she was a joke, nobody cares/d about Kelly. Gay MShep on the other hand made no sense and it lead to the character assassination of Kaidan. It came out of nowhere and it was forced. Like literally with all the "hey Shep let's be gay together" speeches. Cortez and Traynor are the blandest characters BW ever made and their sole purpose was to fill out the quotas. Because the fans demanded it.
Now before you reach for the pitchforks... oh... already armed I see. Please put them down.
Andromeda is a fresh start in every sense. With Ryder I support this stuff because s/he's a new protagonist, not an established one, s/he can be anything. In DAI I was afraid of Dorian. I really was. I mean after Zev, Anders and then Kaidan... Ugh. Well, they proved me wrong. He wasn't forced on you and it fit his character. He became one of my favorite and even though it's not my thing I have a dwarf warrior lined up for him in a future pt. I think Walters meant something like this with the "has to be a part of who they are". Will I be disappointed if Vetra is Sara-only option? Definitely! There'll be tears, curses, longing looks ingame but if there's a reason for it I can accept it. Cora confirmed for Scott, not sure if she's needed for Sara. Liam is the opposite. I liked the bro-vibes he gave in the game engine trailer. Never had a human best friend in the series (Tali+Garrus all the way!) they could be the first. PB is an asari, basically confirmed it. I would have preferred a Scott-only or no romance option, just to defy expectations. Reyes is voiced by Hawke so that's a big +1. Fingers crossed for a new Dorian.
*Jaal is an interesting one. He's bi (confirmed?). Also a missed opportunity. The angarans could have been the reverse-asari of Andromeda. Just imagine a male race. They can reproduce (asari like gene mixing with a hint of seahorse thing). Leave the pitchforks, don't laugh, I'm serious! There are some women in the GE trailer but they could be 'females'. Results of a ~genetic mutation, they are essentially mules. Now they're accepted but there were some ugly pages in the angaran history.

Shepard is whatever you make her or him be, s/he is character that player creates. If s/he can be man or woman, have multiple different backgrounds, looks, personalities and ethnicities I don't see why s/he has to be straight when there is multiple other sexualities s/he could be as well. That doesn't make any sense. My Shepard is not your Shepard and my Shepards sexualities are what I decide as player.

I disagreed that they assassinated Kaidan character. Bisexual people can sometimes prefer women to men and, other times, vice versa. Actually I admired Bioware's attempts to be more inclusive, especially compared to other AAA companies. Surely some of their attempts were not the best, they did improve significantly in DA:I. I'll just hope that they keep doing so. #MakeLiamBi

The blandest character will always be Jacob But to be honest, I didn't like Steve. His whole story was about his dead husband. He didn't have any flaws. He was nice, but that's all I remember about him. Maybe it was because of less content... But he was very uninteresting, compared to Liara which had the most screentime, the biggest personality change and her own agenda. Steve didn't have an agenda, he had no goals, no personality change (maybe because he didn't even has a personality except him being nice)... All I could say about him was that he was gay and ncie and had a dead husband...I really hope or new gay and lesbian companions/NPC will be better.

i cringed at every word you typed, omg its just that bad. assasinated a character by making him bi?? femshep and kaidan are cute and all, but i believe by making kaidan available to mshep only in me3 made their relationship more deep? since it was friendship - doubt and something more later. ofc it wasnt intentional from bioware though. and steve and traynor "are the blandest characters BW ever made"?? yes they had less content than others(and im bitter about that) but still they had personalities and backstory. All I could say about him was that he was gay and ncie and had a dead husband...I really hope or new gay and lesbian companions/NPC will be better. it all falls down on the small content, for sure. they were introduced only in me3, while other characters had 2 games to grow personally. well that and the fact that they are just crewmates, not in the squad.

I just hope they learned from their mistakes and give the next gay character more screentime, because I think it will be a crew member again. They've already showed us that they are capable of creating interesting NPC's (like Cullen, though it was another team). But Cullen was straight... I hope they put the same effort into a gay crewmate.

I'm curious, what do you mean by this? Because I don't want another sassy gay best friend with a story that's partly fixated on him liking men and why that is BAD and NOT GOOD and IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED!! i guess he is one of those "i was propositioned by anders/kaidan or whatever and i need to be desanitized after that" types. he needs "clear looking gays" not the one that look like "ordinary males" in his eyes. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that his qualms with Anders and Kaidan come purely from being in multiple games, yet only showing interest in the male sex in the last title they were featured in, making it seem like pandering and forced inclusivity. And that's, to me, a fair critique and understandable. And by what he means by more Dorian's is more gay/bi characters with fleshed out personalities, stories and sexualities that were there in the beginning till the end. Because that's reasonable.

Might wanna update this since tweets have more or less confirmed that Jaal is a romance option, though the extent by which we can romance him is still ambiguous.

So, to summarize, no Kaidan, a normal guy with a complex, still waters run deep personality and background and arc, who just happens to be bi, but yes to Dorian, arguably a walking stereotype?
No thanks.
