Don't worry, with Chee no longer in ME:A team our next DLC will add Suvi fling option for Scott. With sex scene. And will copypaste it for f/f. All romances should have sex scenes. Several of them. These characters are adults. But they should also have the option NOT to have them, and still continue the romance as is otherwise. Also, no more copy/paste scenes for bi-characters, because that crap doesn't work. (Looking at you, Peebee/Sara)

It is the same really... sure there are different levels of controversy for different reasons but everyone gets shit for being other than straight. Using the amount of bisexual female characters as proof that lesbians have it better (which isn't what anyone in their quotethread is doing but it goes hand in hand with this idea) is ignoring that the one lesbian character in Dragon Age is reviled, knowing that if she was bisexual and made to visibly appeal to men rather than lesbians her abrasive personality would've been excused more, and that Suvi was an afterthought whose existence barely made it into the game as is and had to be fought for. However I will say I understand thinking so just because I know I am lucky I can have a few fleshed out romance options (even though they are heterosexual inteded copypasted messes lol) Funny you mention that because Traynor didn't get anywhere near the amount of hate that Cortez did.

These characters are adults. naah.. I would like the option of them? Like.. some people may want to wait?.. and well.. I dont think fucking makes you adult and you dont have to be 18 to fuck in a lot of places so that connection is.. hmn.. reasonable, but not universal.. A turian or quarian ace romance/platonic romance thats mostly cuddling and spending time together would be totally fine.? I mean with Jaal they already give you the option to ask for more time and I do think that people shouldnt be "forced" int watching sorta softcore porn like PB or cora if they want to do their romances.. or even play them as ace?? I mean I'm not; im sexual as hell but that doesnt mean that I dont get the idea and ffs bioware was once seen as one of the best for stuff like characterization n romances and they should be able to write some alternative things for at least one same-sex partner and one opposite sex partner.. (But I also dont want that shit to become some sort of excuse for why they can make het scenes be softcore porn but do a fade to black in s/s scenes.. ) then we can have fun seeing our characters have hot and steamy sexy-times and other people can have fun seeing their characters do perverted shit like having a romantic picnic.. I mean what kind of animal does that sort of stuff? PICNIC?ß can you imagine?

Oh yeah, i fluctuate on it all the time, too. I just miss the feelings DA2 gave me of pure equality and being able to choose the plot relevant LIs no matter who your PC was. Everyone got a squadmate/companion and noone was jealous of eachothers options. 2/2/2 would be wonderful if the gay/bi characers could be counted on to be in the squad and important, but it's hard to trust anymore after MEA (even if DA is made by a different team). I like sexuality to be important to the character too, but I would be okay with romancing only bisexual characters if there were other important characters central to the story and/or on the squad who were other orientations, just not romancable. I'm just tired of seeing my gay sisters never get the butch LI cuz she's straight and gay men never getting the sensitive/sweet/emotional male LIs because they're "made for women" (whatever the fuck that means). Yeah, my view is that, given that the same-sex only attracted characters seem to draw these stories where the fact that they are only attracted to people of the same sex becomes an active part of their story, where it's their biggest source of angst, until writers can get it through their heads that there are ways to write queer characters that don't treat their queerness that way, all bi options are the way to go, purely because it expands the field of stories - amazingly, it's not my frustrations with being queer that are the sole source of angst in my life. Like that was the joy for me in DA2, I honestly felt equal to straight players for freaking once. And then Inquisition and Andromeda happened, and... ugh. It felt not just like a step back but a punch in the gut for daring to think that I could see queer characters who weren't angsty as a direct result of their sexuality. SAME SO MUCH. It meant SO much to me. It's why, even with its flaws, DA2 is still my favorite of Bioware's games because of how it made me feel as a player. And it's really honestly depressing that Bioware seems to have gone backward with MEA (I'll argue that they made a good effort in DAI, at least, even if I'll never get over Solas being a female only romance). I wish there were options in between "Gay characters have to be about being gay or it doesn't Make Sense" and "Gay characters should never mention their gayness". Like... can we just get a middle-ground here?

Ugh, I get triggered when I see people say that scene is bad writing (Sheryl Chee defense squad to the rescue lol)! It's supposed to be awkward! Obviously! And yeah, there's another flirt option if you don't like it, even if it's still slightly awkward (flirt options is great idea that should have come up more often, but at least they took my suggestion after all these years). For reference, here are both: Maybe other players dislike that scene less because it was "badly written", but because it gives a tone they might not have intended and wrests control of their character away from them. Certain players don't necessarily care for adorkable, and prefer to be more confident and measured. I'm fine either way, but it should be my choice. *Whoosh* I like how you didn't even bother to remove the part of my post that preemptively explained why what you just wrote is completely nonsensical. Bolded for your convenience And it's obvious you didn't watch the video either. Even if that wasn't the case, though, you don't hold some sort of high ground by saying "But mah character control!" Watch: Certain players don't necessarily care for smooth, and prefer to be more awkward.See? I just turned your argument around on you. There should be no default here, so making the player character suave or awkward are both just as valid in a vacuum. However, not in a vacuum, we've already had more than our share of suave and smooth, so at least awkward gives us variety. It's academic, though, since as has been noted multiple times by multiple people, you do have a choice, as it should be. OMG THAT SUVI THING IS SO ADORABLE I CANT STOP SQEEEEEEEEEEING.. I mean.. imagine just more, 1,2 scenes more, maybe after meridian Suvi and Ryder could get to a place in Maridian and plant some Camellia sinensis (Tea) so that in the future they will be able to drink Tea together that they grew.. Maybe they could even do something collaborative with the Angara, I'm sure we cant be the only species loving tea. I know, right? *Sigh* I'd have loved more scenes, obviously. Even one more romance-specific scene, or a couple of friendship scenes with romance-variation, would have done wonders. It makes me so sad, because while I love what's there, there is just so little of it. It actually makes me even more sad because I love it so much. For a comparison, the last romance I did was Cullen's in DA:I. They both have various flirts/romantic dialogue throughout the game, both before and after locking in, but Cullen locked-in earlier, which not only meant more content after, but better pacing in my opinion. I went through the vast majority of the game not locked in with Suvi, and then everything ended so quickly. Cullen had three scenes specific to his romance, in addition to variations of his friendship path and even in main missions. Suvi only has one romance-specific scene. One! Suvi has more acknowledgement of her romance (though not as much as squadmates), so she wins in one category. Cullen had a repeatable kiss and different greetings when you talked to him in a romance. Both of those things make the romance feel more continuous and a real part of the playthrough, rather than just granting a scene every so often and being ignored otherwise. Sadly, Suvi has neither of those things... for reasons. Oh, and you can tell Cullen you love him. No "I love you"s in Suvi's romance Like, Jesus Suvi herself is amazing, and so is her chemistry with Sara, but I have been thoroughly spoiled by what a proper Bioware romance should look like. If it had as much content and was as mechanically good as Cullen's romance, she'd easily be my favourite romance of all time. It's so frustrating what the ME team prioritized. Hell, prioritizing was the problem itself. Is it so hard to just treat your fans equally, Bioware? Be like the DA team. So naturally, I have a lot of empathy for the gay guys here, who had it even worse. huh, i didn't realise that trope had a name. thanks! Hey, cool idea! I'm not a gay guy, so feel free to put my request at the bottom of the list indefinitely, but the first thing that popped into my head was Scott and Liam on a date. Romantic setting (Nexus?), maybe doing a "cheers" with drinks, Liam smiling. Something like that. Hi! Thanks for the prompt, I'll put it on the list, and that's a really cute scene. Even if you're not a gay guy, I think quite a few people still appreciate a picture like that. :dumb: I know Liam gets a bad rep, but I liked all squadmates. Hello! You're welcome, glad you think so. I like Liam too I need to see this banter, already, ha! Any chance a Ryder romancing Suvi makes a comment? /Wishful thinking Because nothing says "professional" like repeatedly making a coworker uncomfortable by flirting with your boss in front of him, or locking personnel out of a science lab so you can have sex in it! I'm quoting myself because I had a weird realization after writing that. When you lock-in with Suvi, she says: "Sara, don't do this to me. Not unless... you really mean it." She sounds intense, almost pleading. Her voice is almost breaking. Combine that with the above, and... did she have a cut plot about a bad relationship? Or just doesn't tell Sara about it? Or is she just really scared of relationships? /Reading into things way too much 1. No, sadly there is no comment that Ryder can make in that banter if romancing Suvi. 2. To be fair, Sarah is the one that flirts with her in front of Kallo. Or not having sex in it. Yay ambiguity! 3. I think her pleading that is because how earlier she feels the reality of losing everyone she loved, ie her family, by making the trip to Andromeda. Now she feels a connection like that with Sarah so doesn't feel alone anymore, but she has that fear of losing that connection too if Sarah isn't serious and being alone again thus why she needs to know. 1. Aww... Well, I can't say I'm surprised at this point. But I should be, since I know Ryder makes comments on other relationships in the Nomad. I mean, honestly, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense not to say anything to that. Vetra's complimenting your girlfriend. You should be able to tell her she has good taste, or tell her to back off a little 2. Not true. Take the second video I posted, where they're both clearly flirting with each other, in front of Kallo. I knew you'd say that, but honestly, what's the point of locking the door if all you're doing is having a glorified makeout session? I actually sort of want to headcanon that they don't do it there, and the scene takes place in the Pathfinder's quarters instead. No reason she couldn't show her very portable display to Sara there. Her "I know I said we should go out, but..." line would still work. But I can't headcanon that hard. So I'm just like "Don't think about it, Ryder, don't think about it." 3. Ah, yeah, that's probably what it is, you're right. I did say I was overthinking it Thanks. "You always know how to make me feel better." I didn't know Suvi's romance had a lab scene! Normally I wouldn't approve of sex in the lab 'cause hygiene, but those scientists were annoying. Soooooooo I'm very here for Suvi/Sara lab sex. Yep. It's not just the hygiene thing, honestly what bugs me more is the fact that there is nowhere comfortable in there! Like, I get it Suvi, you want to do it right now, but I think it would be worth it to awkwardly trot back to the ship, where Sara has a magnificent room with various comfortable furniture pieces. And no one wanting to come in while you're busy. And a great backdrop (stars!). Etc. I seem to be cursed with this. Cullen and Quizzy ignored her nice, private room in favour of Cullen's, which happens to have a huge hole in the roof, which makes it cold, and therefore it has no... soundproofing. With guards all nearby Those poor guards. And a 20-foot ladder to climb up just to get there. Like, what's with these people? Here's the scene, if you're curious (I added the music, because for some reason there wasn't any). I didn't know Suvi's romance had a lab scene! Normally I wouldn't approve of sex in the lab 'cause hygiene, but those scientists were annoying. Soooooooo I'm very here for Suvi/Sara lab sex. IKR Suvi eating out Sara in the lab! Eh, I'm still leaning the other way around, but... ...Why not both? There's time for both. We all know what they really did. They played Hockey, Suvi beat Sara by 5 points! Is that what the kids are calling it these days? One thing that really makes me angry is the fact that if it hadn't been for Sheryl Chee (saving the day for LGBT yet again), the devs would've reversed their decision to have even one lesbian-exclusive LI because a handful of gamerbro playtesters said they were upset that they couldn't romance Suvi, despite having three other options in the fucking squad even. The devs were seriously that quick to try to placate them. The LGBT community meanwhile made it no secret for years that we'd like to see M/M get better representation...and we all know how that turned out. Seriously, the ME team clearly has elements in it that just need to not be there. Oh, it makes me really angry too I hate the fact that I hate the ME team. Or at least, whoever on it that was really responsible for this... mess. They're pathetic. Imagine if the DA team made ME:A instead... And poor Sheryl Chee. I should tweet her, too. Don't worry, with Chee no longer in ME:A team our next DLC will add Suvi fling option for Scott. With sex scene. And will copypaste it for f/f. Scott's magnificent hero dick has made Suvi see the light and now she's thirsty for it. The romance culminates in Suvi inviting all of her hot girlfriends to Scott's room for a lovingly-crafted orgy cutscene with him in the middle of it all. You guys, stop. Just stop. I can only take so much. *Wails like a Banshee* The "if it makes sense" never made sense. If super macho mShep could be gay then no one is really off the table in this regard. And, to be honest, people generally don't know I'm gay unless I say something about a boyfriend or mention some guy is hot. By the context, if I were in the game they'd make me straight because I wouldn't "make sense" to be gay.I bet most of us wouldn't Make Sense™ to them IKR Suvi eating out Sara in the lab! Yes, good. Keep giving me ideas to put on my To-Draw list. I heard that they they locked the lab to perform in-depth geographical survey, with particular focus on interesting peaks and valleys they wanted to explore. The lab being in complete disarray afterwards was due to their work requiring them to use most of the table, as well as part of the floor. See... there's a perfectly innocent explanation for everything! *Clears throat* Optional Mission: Getting Suvi's Rocks Off Objective: Scout out an unused mining crater, verify samples with a taste test, and get off as quickly as possible. Parameters: Scans of the area suggest building tension - rising pressure in local geothermal vents is leading to convulsions in the surrounding bedrock, so the entire area is unstable. Inevitable agitation caused while retrieving samples will cause a climactic chain reaction at the site, so coming quietly isn't an option. Details: No rewards for going halfway. Get what you came for, or the mission is a bust.

"You always know how to make me feel better." 1. To be fair, it might hve glitched for me when I got it and you might say something if romancing her. I agree it is definitely something you should comment on, but with how the squad only reacts to squad romances in Nomad banter I wouldn't be surprised if not. 2. I meant Sarah is the one who starts the flirts. I can think of a few reasons. All I know is I asked Ian about the ambiguous romances and he commented that Suvi's romance was the exact romance he thought of when I asked him. He also said it is his personal favorite romance in the game. 3. You're welcome. Glad I could help.

However I will say I understand thinking so just because I know I am lucky I can have a few fleshed out romance options (even though they are heterosexual inteded copypasted messes lol)i Funny you mention that because Traynor didn't get anywhere near the amount of hate that Cortez did. Oh I'd agree on that, but that goes back to the fear a lot of straight men have of gay men being attracted to them and the aversion of "emotional" men as well. Cortez crying was a deathblow to his character as far as what many people want from men, and him being gay magnified that. I do agree that Traynor was accepted better and I did like she firmly expressed she was a lesbian. It goes to show how similar it is for lesbians and gay men when it comes to public opinion that it is so varied who fares better.

I don't think it's so much that homophobic gamers love lesbians but that they love an idealized fantasy of lesbians. Always young, hot, femme (or at least not butch), ready to get naked for him. And even then, there was still people getting upset over characters like that being lesbian instead of straight or bisexual. I've known guys who say they're fine with lesbians and bi women but once it becomes apparent they're are not anything like the fantasy version in their porn and H games they turn nasty real quick. I think some women have the same issue with gay and bi men, but I think it's a little bit different in how it occurs because men are socially conditioned that they are entitled to women's bodies. So with women, I've noticed it's a bit more like "gay/bi men can be a sidekick/fashion stylist best friend " but once it becomes clear that he's a three dimensional person... then, the same shit happens.

Tbh going back to a full bisexual squad and resigning gay/lesbian identities to outside support characters isn't a great way to go, as much as I would love to have a guaranteed romance. I like the potential 2/2/2 formula, though in practice it just makes lesbians and gay men get the shaft. Ideally they all get an about equal romance in terms of length and quality and be made with the orientation in mind. I realize I like this because I like sexuality to be important to the character, unlike how some people like it to be subtle and happenstance- Sera's blatant lesbianism and Dorian being formed and impacted by his sexuality is relatable rather than alienating to me. To have these stories and character types relegated to rando NPCs would kinda suck. I totally get the view tho lol I flip flop on this all the time just because like............................ Cassandra (and Morrigan really) Oh yeah, i fluctuate on it all the time, too. I'm also a bit more partial to the romance model of DA2 than other people. I think, although the devs later said they just all happened to be bisexual, what was really intended was for them to be bi but more importantly player character-sexual, which is first and foremost just a difference in the approach to the narrative. It places less importance on the NPC characters as characters and more importance on the player and their decisions in the world. After all, the player is the one shaping the story and if they wanna romance Fenris with a guy or Merril with a woman, who is to say that it's necessarily wrong to craft a game that leaves all options open for every player to tell exactly the story they wanna tell? It doesn't hurt the fictional people, after all, they don't care because non-existant people don't have opinions on their own sexuality. It was, if nothing else, an interesting experiment that allowed people to get at characters who game developers usually might not open up for same sex-romance because "it doesn't make sense" ( this argument ). Admittedly, I think this approach usually works better in games like Skyrim, where you don't necessarily know as much about the NPC characters you can romance. Because they are less defined to begin with, they feel less like fully fleshed-out people and thus it's not really a problem that their sexuality seems a bit unrealistically flexible if you look at the big picture of every single romanceable character being available for every PC. Also, Skyrim is all about making your own story, such as completely ignoring the main quest for 100 hours to collect every cheese wheel in the land and become a werewolf assassin. Placing more importance on player freedom to bend the fictional world to their whims, including romance options, is kind of in line with how Skyrim already works. In a Bioware game, you usually know so much about your companions that it might become a bit weird if everyone is available for romance by every player character because that's not how sexual attraction usually works and the writers do make an effort to make the romanceable characters seem very "real" and developed. Also, the world surrounding these characters is not quite so anarchistic nor open for player exploitation, so it's also not as much in line with the rest of the gameplay for the romanceable characters to have wild card sexualities. All that said, I still don't really understand why "an unrealistic number of bisexuals" ever became a complaint. Aside from 4 bisexuals (DA2) not exactly being an outrageous number even in one circle of friends, it's also unrealistic that out of a squad of 6 people, all 3 present women want to sleep with Scott Ryder or are even available. If you entered a situation like that in real life, one woman would probably already have a boyfriend, the other is not interested, and maybe one would be open to go on some casual dates or whatever. That is one of the limits to how the ME series romances are "realistic". In the end, the romances are there to support the space hero fantasy and if that means a couple more bisexuals than might """realistically""" be around, why not? It's already unrealistic that the Tempest is basically a match-making service with everyone but Lexi, Kallo and Drack looking to get it on.

That's one of the biggest things that I've seen happen in the Dragon Age community - there's this pervasive attitude that somehow Dorian's friendship with the female Inquisitor needs to be the most important relationship in his life. Like, sure, I understand people not being comfortable with Dorian/Iron Bull as presented, but... I've seen a lot of support for this idea of 'don't let him and Bull get together, so that when he leaves in Trespasser, he's upset about leaving his bestest best friend, not his icky abusive boyfriend!' Like... If they can't reduce Dorian into this prop of a sexless best friend, they want nothing to do with that characterization. (I also think that the allowance of the casual flirting which Dorian apologizes for encouraging in a very 'in another life...' kind of fashion encourages it somewhat, and that rubs me wrong about his portrayal, but that's another thing entirely.) Yeah, people like to say that just because they're able to love this fantasy they have of a gay person, be they a figure of puerile fantasy for straight males or some kind of fashionista sidekick for straight women, but once they're exposed to gay people who are literally not meant to support that fantasy, they get up in arms about it, because how dare these gay characters not conform to the monolithic set of beliefs they see all gay people as having to conform to.

As I always say, if in a video game that involves glowing alien space ninjas, blue skinned alien women who look almost exactly like humans, faster than light travel, etc. or elves, dwarves, magic, ancient empires of non-humans, etc.... If there's all that, and you're still complaining about "realism," you're not actually complaining about realism, you're complaining about the gays. Also as I also say, three or more queer people in a group is totally realistic, as we tend to huddle together like penguins in a cold and cruel heteronormative world. If that seems unrealistic to you, odds are it's because queer people do not feel safe around you - there is far more likely to be a token straight who's been adopted by the queers than some queer person who's comfortable enough being the token queer in a group of otherwise straight people.

Nooo, it's super realistic that half of ME's other space-faring species just happen to be built in a way that humans might find them attractive and that their reproductive parts are also compatible to the necessary extent. I mean, I'm not complaining, I like my spiky turian girlfriend, but I wouldn't exactly expect to get one in a real first-contact situation... As said token straight in my main social circle, yeah, I never wanna make assumptions, but I do admit when I hear someone say "when do you even have more than one bisexual person around at the same time", I do often think... well, maybe there's a reason that there's never more than about 0 non-straight people around you. Or maybe there's a reason you just don't know that there are, that is also an option. (But that's probably because the kind of people who even feel it's necessary to ask that question and complain about "too many bisexuals" often already display the sort of pervasive attitude that doesn't exactly make you wonder why they don't have a plethora of queer friends.)

Probably not fair to blame the character, but it's hard not to let my irritation with the attitude bleed into the game. I bailed on an old forum I used to post on partly because they had a Dragon Age thread that was wall-to-wall women gushing over Dorian like an exotic pet. Tried to put up with it for awhile, but it did a hell of a job making me feel like a tagalong token.

I actually really like Dorian and think he was pretty well-done, but even with that I'm always kind of suspicious when straight people say that Dorian is the perfect example of how LGBT characters should be written (and I've seen both women and men say this). When LGBT characters shouldn't always have to have those kind of backstories and character arcs. They're important stories to tell, but not the only ones that can involve LGBT people.
In some situations, it sounds suspiciously like they don't want future romanceable faves to be "tainted" with gay unless it's obvious they're LGBT from the get-go. Like the Cullen, Garrus, Morrigan, Tali, Miranda types that get such huge fanbases.

It is important to talk about how Dorian and Gil, two gay men, never tell a female player character to back off when using the flirt button. Dorian especially likes it and it is a good way to milk approval from him lmao. Meanwhile, if you flirt with the same-sex you get an immediate rejection or a special cutscene later on in Cassandra's case to turn you down as the only other case of gaining approval through flirting without being able to form a romance (and she does disapprove, sometimes). Cortez is the only example of otherwise since he doesn't really fit the gay best friend trope, though I doubt he would tell you to stop flirting if ME3 had a designated flirt button, which it doesn't.
This can easily be seen as, well, they like flirting even if it can go nowhere. Which is true, and would be fine if it wasn't basically exclusive to the gay companions.
EDIT: To add that I was corrected, and when flirted with multiple times Gil turns you down and will do so, multiple times. It is moreso how the first flirt in a same-sex context will be immediately dismissed relatively to how much you can poke their boundaries.

Scott's magnificent hero dick has made Suvi see the light and now she's thirsty for it. The romance culminates in Suvi inviting all of her hot girlfriends to Scott's room for a lovingly-crafted orgy cutscene with him in the middle of it all.Wait, I just realized. Does "all of her hot girlfriends" include... Sara? Implications even more unpleasant. No joke, this is like... one of the biggest things I wish I could see in the next DA game. Just... let me chose my body and pronouns/voice separately, please? And if there's dialogue options that let me drop the hint that my PC is trans (especially if Mae is going to be in the game, I would love the opportunity to bond with her over shared experiences), that would be amazing too. I really wanted to be able to tell Krem "I feel you, bro." I know it might complicate things with romances tho... Like, how does the game decide to gate the PC against certain romances? If it's a straight LI, can you romance them if you have a 'female' body only? or female pronouns only? Or some other way? (Of course, if they would just go back to four bisexual romances and save the varied representation for the non-romancable characters, this wouldn't even be a problem. >_____>) Customization options are always good, but... can I ask a stupid question or two? Because I'm confused. Why would a trans person want to play as a trans person in a game? Wouldn't that be almost as dysphoric as playing the gender they didn't identify as? Wouldn't it be more... cathartic(?) to play as your true gender? At least as far as the kind of trans people you usually hear about goes. I could see the appeal more if you were non-binary etc. (which to be honest, I know almost nothing about). Please forgive the dumb questions. I'm also tired, so that doesn't help. (But I also dont want that shit to become some sort of excuse for why they can make het scenes be softcore porn but do a fade to black in s/s scenes.. ) Unfortunately, considering the only real same-sex sex scene in the game is an anatomically incorrect port of a straight scene, this really is what it feels like. Oh, the ambiguous romances just happen to be the same-sex ones, and your straight ones just happen not to be? Okay suuuuure. Here's the scene, if you're curious (I added the music, because for some reason there wasn't any). Sorry, but I just found the subtitles option on this video, and its attempt to decipher Suvi's Scottish accent is amusing. To be fair, it's probably much more amusing because I'm really tired and everything is funny to me, but still The "Applause" at the end killed me Gotta say, I enjoy very much your multiquote achievements! Keep those up and running Glad they're not annoying text walls. I will certainly endeavour to continue, though quality may vary I meant Sarah is the one who starts the flirts. I can think of a few reasons. All I know is I asked Ian about the ambiguous romances and he commented that Suvi's romance was the exact romance he thought of when I asked him. He also said it is his personal favorite romance in the game. But Suvi still flirts back, so... Really? I can't If all they're doing is kissing, they could just awkwardly stop if someone comes in. But if they lock the door, they're going to have to explain why, and it'll make Suvi look... unprofessional I don't know why exactly, but right now I'm so annoyed at ambiguous romances. I'm tired and lonely and depressed and frustrated, so that isn't helping, lol. Optional paths are fine. Great, even. But it's like that feeling of getting picked last for a team in school, or when the teacher says to find a partner for an assignment and you just end up sitting there alone awkwardly, that happened to me all the time. Like you weren't good enough to get as much content as the "main" options. /Tired, over-informative blabbering Oh I'd agree on that, but that goes back to the fear a lot of straight men have of gay men being attracted to them and the aversion of "emotional" men as well. Cortez crying was a deathblow to his character as far as what many people want from men, and him being gay magnified that. So annoying. I hate that society does this to men. So do I! It's so damaging! To men directly, obviously, but indirectly to women as well. Repressing emotions, bottling them up, it isn't healthy. But that's what the culture tells men to do. And then women are seen as overemotional when maybe we're just exercising a normal amount of expression. Maybe men would be the same if they weren't conditioned not to be. And it's not going to be healthy for any kind of relationship. This clip pokes a bit of fun at it. I don't think it's so much that homophobic gamers love lesbians but that they love an idealized fantasy of lesbians. Always young, hot, femme (or at least not butch), ready to get naked for him. And even then, there was still people getting upset over characters like that being lesbian instead of straight or bisexual. And that's precisely why it's so gross That's one of the biggest things that I've seen happen in the Dragon Age community - there's this pervasive attitude that somehow Dorian's friendship with the female Inquisitor needs to be the most important relationship in his life. (I also think that the allowance of the casual flirting which Dorian apologizes for encouraging in a very 'in another life...' kind of fashion encourages it somewhat, and that rubs me wrong about his portrayal, but that's another thing entirely.) Oddly, I haven't seen straight girls treat Dorian this way. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm just surprised. But I do enjoy his friendship path with a female Inquisitor (not that it's different than with the male Inquisitor). With my canon, they're like gay best friends, who platonically flirt with each other for fun. It's such a dumb argument. I mean, I've said it before but just look at this thread! It's like: We've certainly flocked together here Though hopefully I'm not implying straight people aren't welcome or anything. I'm just amazed at the thread's composition. Goodnight, thread! Much-needed sleep time. Stay strong, and queer!

I have to point out that that's untrue. Gil most certainly shuts Sara down and says he's only into guys. He can do this twice, depending on if you try it on his first or second flirt option. The thread was recently talking about how Suvi is the only one not to do this. As for Dorian, I can see how that would be taken badly, but some people do just like to flirt for fun.

I'm sorry you guys have had those experiences with straight women and the way they react to Dorian. I love the character, ALL aspects of him, all his flaws and vices -- I'm not blind to these -- as well as his virtues. The fact that he is so nuanced, has so many layers, is one of the reasons I like him and his romance. While I made a male character in order to romance him, having the character, that friendship and romance helped me to develop my Inquisitor in a way that I never felt with my canon Warden or Hawke. It's a tremendously important relationship to me, made me love my Inquisitor as the man I built him to be (he is contrary to Dorian in many ways), and made DAI replayable.

Yep, groups of LGBT people often hang out together. Perhaps they are afraid we are secretly building an army...we are.

Oops, thanks for the correction lol. Honestly I hate having a Designated Flirt Button since there are sometimes where the flirt is just the nicest option in a sea of negative and not really entirely leading (only example I cant think of rn is that you either tell Dorian he has poor fashion tastes 3 different ways or say he dresses nice) and we should go back to the ninja-mancing hell that is Origins. I guess it is moreso trying to flirt with Cora or Liam with the same-sex one whole time and getting shut down immediately which is weird in comparison.
