I mean why aren't the homophobic comments being warned of being of this not being the place? And the LGBT /allies defending them are being called out more? 👀 Guys, you're clearly defending your relevance wrong. Add in that you're gay while enjoying a gay aspect of the game, then defend yourself. In fairness, homophobic comments are not acceptable here. But this discussion thread can clear 5 pages in an hour (!) Reporting issues is the normal first step, but I'm happy to take a PM (to take a further look at specifics) if the ability of anyone to post in a hassle-free environment is compromised.

Not gonna lie, I would probably sob like an ugly baby if they actually axed the Mass Effect series. :/

But really, don't most dev teams get downsized and shuffled around after a launch? That doesn't spell the scary end to me. Unless they come out and say, naah, no DLC forthcoming, we're forgetting about the franchise until we launch the secret IP and DA4, etc. etc. Then I might be a little dismayed, but it happened with DA2 and we still got DAI. So...? Yes. But shinobi has basically confirmed the franchise is on hiatus on twitter and well, that pretty much seals it. He's got very good track record on industry scoop

I'd like to know because usually people that like Jaal post in our thread, so I am wonder why she never does. I don't call everyone a troll, though this is pretty obvious, but still, if someone likes Jaal that much, they usually post in our thread. If they are someone from the Jaal thread, I hope you figure out who so you can take out your trash. It's one thing to love Jaal, it's another thing for this person to be a dick about men wanting Jaal's romance (or something similar) too. I hope you'll take a message back to the Jaal thread that it isn't cool to post like this Porter person is posting. Call them out and tell them to knock it off, please. I know it's just trolling and baiting us, but it gets old.

Mike Gamble is getting a little impatient with the "less polite" fans on twitter. I kind of don't blame him for being a bit snappy but he's the professional and those guys are probably kids. I can almost hear him thinking "Ungrateful, entitled...!" the whole tweet chain doesn't show up here but here's the link I'm 36 years old, actually. But that was my point: he's a professional. He needs to act like it. Were you the teacher in that thread? I obviously wasn't talking about you if that's the case. Also we're practically the same age.

Reporting issues is the normal first step, but I'm happy to take a PM (to take a further look at specifics) if the ability of anyone to post in a hassle-free environment is compromised. I do have to say this, and I'm saying it openly and honestly without hyperbole: This forum has had a history of very unfortunate tolerance of homophobia, both subtle and blatant. I've seen the mods take action swiftly against the really blatant trolls. But the blatant homophobia from the regulars? Not so much. The subtle homophobia almost always goes unchecked. And there is a strong bias with some of the mods that many members of the LGBT community here feel very uncomfortable with. I have personally reported posts and they have not been dealt with in any way that I can see. Content still exists. Posters still post. And I know that this has been the case with others as well. I don't think that the mods are openly and consciously being homophobic, but some of them are being homophobic by creating a forum where LGBT posters do not feel that they will be treated the same as straight posters. I'm happy to talk about it in PM. But it's not new. You know I've pointed this out before. And it's coming to a head now.

If we follow demographic trends, more millennials identify as LGBT than any previous generation, not including people still closeted even in that generation. Meaning they could easily tap more of a market from young people if they had more important LGBT rep and didn't sideline us when convenient. So that's just yet another detail of why their marketing for ME:A was shit. Instead of being ashamed of having any LGBT stuff at all, they should have marketed the hell out of it. Following the generational trend (of more percentage identifying as LGBT each new generation), we could also easily see an increase in LGBT people among Generation Z (Post-Millennials) and Generation Alpha (Post-Generation Z). And I don't think it's due to "LGBT propaganda" that conservatives like to whine about, or the "transtrenders" that anti-SJW people like to complain about. I think it's due to general growth in both population and growing acceptance in the western world. I mean, I only found out about Bioware because they put those gay romances in there. And then I even went back and bought games that didn't have gay content because I enjoyed them so much. If it wasn't for Anders and Kaidan, they wouldn't have the copious amounts of money they've gotten from me over the past four years. Imagine who they could get if they didn't treat it like a half-dyed Easter egg. The Silk Fox romance was really meaningful to me because it was one of the first times I felt represented in a game or in media in general. I have always had a soft spot for Bioware because of this. I have bought every game since, dlc, some merchandise and pre-ordered everything because of this representation. It isn't the only reason I play these games but it is why I felt so loyal to Bioware. It is pretty hard explaining that feeling to someone who grew up constantly seeing characters like them and romances like theirs in almost every piece of media they watch/play/listen to. Bioware was one of the first that did this in a game, they are still one of the only companies that do this in gaming so that is why it irritates me when people pretend it isn't important or say romances aren't worth it. ME:A is the first time I have felt very conflicted about their choices. Sure they have made mistakes before but I was hoping they would be getting progressively better. Bioware makes ROLE PLAYING GAMES. Having more varied romance options and the ability to choose to play as different sex/orientation is a good thing. Choice in a RPG is a good thing. They should focus on story, combat, giving the player more choices and stop with the trendy shit that is taking away from that like open world, and poorly paywalled mp.

Eh, I agree that the same phrasing is suspicious, but I sincerely doubt she's the only bigoted Jaal fan in the universe who thinks that making characters bi "ruins" them. I wish I had a great view of humanity, to the point where I think she's definitely that user because who else could it be but... It's very possibly someone else, too.

Honestly, I think it would help to have another LGBT mod. Another mod said it in this thread: The mods can't always catch everything. So having another LGBT mod would not only add another mod to delete homophobic comments, but it's a little easier to notice whether a comment is homophobic or not if, well, you're LGBT. Since, well, to be frank, if you're LGBT and out of the closet, you've likely had to deal with bigoted comments about your sexual and/or gender orientation before. (Hell, I dunno an LGBT person who hasn't had to deal with anything like that ever, whether it's online or in person, so it's easier to scout out due to personal experiences) And if the mods are worried about a bias if they're LGBT, then well, at least it'll balance out some of the other mods' possible biases? Anyways, everybody's got biases when it comes to stuff, so as long as there's checks and balances in moderating (good communication between mods, checking with eachother when it comes to thread wank), it shouldn't be a problem, right? The reality is that it always comes down to reporting posts being the best way to deal with the kinds of comments that aren't supposed to be welcome here. I tend to lurk this thread a decent amount and while another set of eyes would help catch more stuff, things will still slip through the cracks and the times when this thread gets the worst is when a few inflammatory comments aren't immediately caught and it spirals out of control as people respond to them and feed the fire. Responding with a well crafted constructive post is fine but it's always worth remembering: Somebody else breaking the rules doesn't give you a free pass to do the same. If you make a personal attack on somebody who made a homophobic remark, you still made a personal attack(I'll note I say you in a general sense, not you specifically). If people are worried that a mod might have a bias, then all I can really say is that when you report a post it goes into a listing on the admin panel that all the mods have access to and any mod will comment on. It's virtually unheard of that a reported post will be dealt with by a single mod without comments from another mod, regardless of who does the actual PMing. Most of the time a mod acts without getting input from other mods is if the post is something we personally see and it demands immediate attention so things don't spiral into a flamewar.

Your avatar reminded me of how much I hate Corrinsexuals. (Also how often she died/got my PC killed because she stupidly charged towards the archers) She is better as support, then switching out when it is safe or for mobility. You gotta protect your sexy battle milfs okay!? I hated that also. She was way to good to be a male only player character romance option. I wanted to pair her with so many people... especially my female character.
