We know Cora's voice actress said she was doing some new stuff, so I am hoping it's at least a DLC related to the missing Ark. Anything after that, it's hard to say. That's right, I had forgotten about that tweet from Cora's voice actress. That's good, well for those of us that didn't want it dead, anyway. lol It means they haven't totally pulled the plug. Imagine if there's an extra Cora romance patch and everyone else gets nothing.

That book 'The Lost Ark' is out in june right? I'd assume the DLC would be related to that, but then again maybe the DLC won't be ark related it'll belike Dragon Age and they'll just cover plot stuff in books or whatever.

I love ME. I think Montreal studio bit off more than they could chew on this. I want them to continue with the franchise. They need to look at the criticism and fix it. Let the other studio continue with it. Why does everything need to be open worlds? I played Horizon Zero Dawn and I never once got bored. IMO they did it right. I felt like a chore too much of the time in MEA. This is a very popular complaint lately. It seems like people have gotten burnt out with open world games and the sacrifices needed to keep one upping on that specific aspect.

So.. what? Should I just be accepting of prejudice simply because it doesn't happen to me as often as other people? Just because I'm part of a majority? I'm sorry but that is something I will absolutely never do. I get it. LGBT people have it happen to them more often. They have it infinitely worse than I do. I am not and never have been trying to dispute that fact. That "prejudice" is salt, bitter gay salt thrown with wild abandon in this harsh heteronormative world. Nothing beats the homophobic experience tho, it's great, love seeing it following me on the internet too. I just know not to look at comments with black characters on YT. They throw around the n-word with the er at the end and calls us monkeys. I'm like can't you come up with anything better? My personal favorite is go back to your country So I feel you on trying to get away from stuff that makes you uncomfortable.

I've seen a decent amount of straight up serious anti-straight comments from people(talking in general, not specifically this forum) so while I think it's 100% true fact to say that it certainly is a far smaller beast than anti-LGBT I think it's silly to suggest that it merely doesn't exist. Nobody can fully understand another's experiences. You can't understand mine and I can't understand yours. but using that argument doesn't add to a discussion about the subject at hand so we can reach a mutual agreement. I've seen the "OMG! It's a woman's private parts! I can't bear it!" I think that's drama but whatever. It could fall under heterophobia. However, I'd more likely imagine it to be "I'm afraid those straight people might murder me!" I mean, Chechnya, anyone? I'm not trying to say bias against someone for their sexuality is valid. I'm just not aware of it. No LGBTQIxyz (yeah, I'm kind of over the ever-increasing letters) people I know of have ever displayed heterophobia. I even live in NYC and the LGBT+ community is rather large here. And I'm gay so I know a lot of people in those categories (all of those categories). I mean, any jerk can dislike something. Doesn't make it a thing. Found this site: www.allaboutcounseling.com/library/heterophobia/. It's pretty much in response to negative actions against non-hetero people. Nah, that's just plain ol' misogyny. We don't need to give it a new name - especially not a stupid one like "heterophobia".

Now that things have settled down, what's everyone's opinion on the rumors that Montreal's studio is being downgraded and ME is on hiatus? I saw the original article and then some were disputing the reliability of the source. Do you guys think this is for real? Will they confirm/deny the accuracy of this? Do you think we'll still get DLC for ME:A or do you think the game/franchise are just fucked? I think moving Mass Effect to the backburner was always going to be the outcome - DA4 has yet to be even announced, and the last two BioWare games have taken at least a year (closer to two) from title reveal to release, the new IP still doesn't have a public name, and those are both in active development at the moment, so it'll probably be a minimum of three to four years before they are both out. Any successive Mass Effect game would come after them in terms of being developed. I think this is all mostly just part of the plan, and not as a direct result of bad press or bad reactions. At most, the reaction might have told them this was a good idea, but... I don't see this as the end of the franchise. We're definitely going to get DLC, but that doesn't require the same level of attention and focus a full game does - the majority of the assets already exist, it's only a few hours of game play as opposed to forty plus, tighter story, etc. Basically, I don't see this as panic worthy. I think people are making it sound worse than it is because of the bad press, but I'm willing to bet that all of this was part of the intentions with the franchise to begin with, that this 'hiatus' exists more because Andromeda does not have the push to complete its overarching story (the Benefactor, the kett, the pieces that make up a metastory for the universe that extend beyond MEA's story) in the same time frame as the trilogy, which was always Shepard's story and hitting up on the point where next gen systems were coming into play when they pushed ME3 out the door.

I'm not sure why you keep talking about how it's such much worse for LGBT people when I keep agreeing with you that it is. I've also been fine with a lot of salt being thrown around in this thread because of the circumstance. People want to vent and that's cool. People should be able to vent when they're upset about being fucked over yet again after having been told all about how important they apparently were. but prejudice isn't cool, and it does exist even if a small fraction of the amount LGBT experience.

Heterophobic is not a thing, to entertain it as a thing is stupid, ALOT of those posts are tongue in cheek, it's fuckin' salt. I'm sure you guys are doing your best, some don't intend to come off biased but, you have serious blinders on when it comes to the LGBT community here. Really don't think you can get where alot of our complaints are coming from unless you have actually experienced it. Are you denying the existence of heterophobia as an institution or that bias against hetero people can exist at all? I'm gonna try as best I can to answer this. Because for me, to call this bias against straight people a "phobia" is putting it on the same level as homophobia, which already has the unfortunate history. Everyone knows there isn't a recorded incident in history where queer people lynched a straight person for being straight. Is there? In your particular case, when someone told you that your opinions are invalid as a straight person? I call it being an arsehole to straight people. And I don't support the idea of being an arsehole to straight people. But straight people won't experience such things like being in the closet and fearing getting kicked out for their sexuality or knowing that whenever they go see a movie or read a book, there's a good chance there isn't going to be a character with the same sexual orientation or gender identity that would resonate with them. Straight people will say that it's not a big deal, but when little microaggressions in every day life remind you that you're of a lower tier human being based on one facet of your identity (that being sexuality and gender identity), it is a big deal. You know this. So straight people will say or do things ignorant of queer people's realities. They get called out, some learn, some don't, the cycle goes on, rinse, wash, repeat. On our end, we're resentful that no matter what, straight people will always have the lion's share when it comes to representation and content in the media. That's just how it is. Some of us are gonna be very bitter about it. If provoked, some of us will say some mean things, begrudging you for your luck as a straight person. But as heterophobia? Genuine heterophobia? With all the connotations and the discourse and the awful shit that comes with it? You're not genuinely hurt by these comments, are you? I apologise if you really are. But you can turn off the computer and sleep easy at night that video games will always have straight protagonists. Or straight romances if they include romances at all. They'll always include people like you. I'm not trying to justify queer people's mean-spirited comments aimed at you for being straight, because I find the idea of attacking someone's identity abhorrent, no matter how much I resent heteronormativity. But perhaps in your particular case, they're said because they're frustrated with your comments, and you cannot understand their reality, no matter how much you try, because you never lived it. I don't know, I wasn't there when someone said that comment. As for saying that your opinion on romances in general because you're straight? I think that was an arsehole-ish thing to say to you. If you want to call it heterophobic, that is entirely your prerogative. I don't want to compare Oppression Olympics by giving examples of some shitty things said to queer people online (because that has never happened before) and dismiss your feelings as the straight person in question. So, to your original question: queer people will hold some bias against straight folk because we're never certain that you'll have our backs as a social minority- in this case, better representation and content for queer protagonists, characters, and stories. There is nothing in this endeavour for you (apart from gaining friends), and you do not understand what exactly we're looking for here, or why, and that's just the hard truth. But heterophobia, as an institution contrived by queer folk to bring you straight people down? I don't think we ever had that power. And we never will.

The Quarian ark DLC was likely written prior to, or finished around the time of launch though, yea? With the confirmation that VA's are recording lines, it seems pretty likely well get at least that. If the studio is gonna to cut dlc's in the future, maybe the Ark DLC may be delayed a bit to tie up a few loose threads within that one dlc?
I'm taking the reporting with a lot of skepticism until Bioware confirms anything. Though if we don't get a tweet refuting it within a few days that may be somewhat telling.

Maybe they can mix it up and have a combination. Perhaps one or two larger, open maps that we can really explore and hang around in for hours and hours. And then also have maps that are more linear and less open.

I just realized I want a romance where the NPC broke up with someone recently and you can either romance them or if you don't they eventually patch things up with their ex. Something other than the perpetual single LIs we get or their horde of dead exes.

Death was much later lol and I think PeeBee is in that category too. They aren't NPC's though. I like this idea!

Hugely overcompensating in the face of complaints? I'm not sure I know what you mean. By that logic, their next game will ONLY have romanceable gay men in it and no other characters at all. Then everyone else will finally have a leg to stand on with this "durn SJWs ruined mah game" schtick.
