I think Bioware is probably over sensitive about this because DA2's small map space became basically a huge meme. It seems like they've gone too far in the other direction. Bioware? Hugely overcompensating in the face of complaints? I'm not sure I know what you mean. So we're gonna get majority gay romances in the next game. Right Bioware?!

This is a very popular complaint lately. It seems like people have gotten burnt out with open world games and the sacrifices needed to keep one upping on that specific aspect. I think the issue is trying to make them too large, or too numerous. DAI had too many maps without enough to do in them. At least the MEA ones have a clear objective. Maybe they can mix it up and have a combination. Perhaps one or two larger, open maps that we can really explore and hang around in for hours and hours. And then also have maps that are more linear and less open. My another complaint is that the worlds are not that interesting, look-wise. Eos, Voeld, and Eladen are just desert planets with different skins. Meridian-like world would look better. Another thing is that there are quite many meaningless tasks in both ME:A and DA:I. I hope they tone down those quests and add more interesting ones. I also wish for more weather variation withing a planet. Rain on Eladden after you clear the vault would be awesome!

Are you denying the existence of heterophobia as an institution or that bias against hetero people can exist at all? I'm gonna try as best I can to answer this. Because for me, to call this bias against straight people a "phobia" is putting it on the same level as homophobia, which already has the unfortunate history. Everyone knows there isn't a recorded incident in history where queer people lynched a straight person for being straight. Is there? In your particular case, when someone told you that your opinions are invalid as a straight person? I call it being an arsehole to straight people. And I don't support the idea of being an arsehole to straight people. But straight people won't experience such things like being in the closet and fearing getting kicked out for their sexuality or knowing that whenever they go see a movie or read a book, there's a good chance there isn't going to be a character with the same sexual orientation or gender identity that would resonate with them. Straight people will say that it's not a big deal, but when little microaggressions in every day life remind you that you're of a lower tier human being based on one facet of your identity (that being sexuality and gender identity), it is a big deal. You know this. So straight people will say or do things ignorant of queer people's realities. They get called out, some learn, some don't, the cycle goes on, rinse, wash, repeat. On our end, we're resentful that no matter what, straight people will always have the lion's share when it comes to representation and content in the media. That's just how it is. Some of us are gonna be very bitter about it. If provoked, some of us will say some mean things, begrudging you for your luck as a straight person. But as heterophobia? Genuine heterophobia? With all the connotations and the discourse and the awful shit that comes with it? You're not genuinely hurt by these comments, are you? I apologise if you really are. But you can turn off the computer and sleep easy at night that video games will always have straight protagonists. Or straight romances if they include romances at all. They'll always include people like you. I'm not trying to justify queer people's mean-spirited comments aimed at you for being straight, because I find the idea of attacking someone's identity abhorrent, no matter how much I resent heteronormativity. But perhaps in your particular case, they're said because they're frustrated with your comments, and you cannot understand their reality, no matter how much you try, because you never lived it. I don't know, I wasn't there when someone said that comment. As for saying that your opinion on romances in general because you're straight? I think that was an arsehole-ish thing to say to you. If you want to call it heterophobic, that is entirely your prerogative. I don't want to compare Oppression Olympics by giving examples of some shitty things said to queer people online (because that has never happened before) and dismiss your feelings as the straight person in question. So, to your original question: queer people will hold some bias against straight folk because we're never certain that you'll have our backs as a social minority- in this case, better representation and content for queer protagonists, characters, and stories. There is nothing in this endeavour for you (apart from gaining friends), and you do not understand what exactly we're looking for here, or why, and that's just the hard truth. But heterophobia, as an institution contrived by queer folk to bring you straight people down? I don't think we ever had that power. And we never will. this is really well put.

Maybe they can mix it up and have a combination. Perhaps one or two larger, open maps that we can really explore and hang around in for hours and hours. And then also have maps that are more linear and less open. There's a Tumblr post going around that talks about how BioWare and Bethesda are both trying to play to the other's strengths and letting their own suffer - Like Fallout 4 was a very 'on the rails' RPG, where there was a story that the characters acted like was the primary focus for the Sole Survivor, even if they were spending countless hours playing Post-Atomic SimCity, while Inquisition and Andromeda both have very expansive locations and are almost overwhelming the player with sidequests. For my part, I feel Andromeda was a step in the right direction after Inquisition was that overwhelming - for one, they at least justified why the Pathfinder was doing all these things, as opposed to how the Inquisitor was the four star general running off to collect resources, instead of sending the cadets and privates to do the grunt work. And they limited themselves to a few planets, instead of the ten different zones we got in Inquisition. But an element of linearity, such as keeping most sidequests locked off until the planet story is completed or something, would not be amiss. Basically, BioWare needs to remember that they're praised for characters and stories first and foremost, and they should play to their strengths. Not that they shouldn't shore up where they're weak, but don't do that at the expense of their strengths.

I just realized I want a romance where the NPC broke up with someone recently and you can either romance them or if you don't they eventually patch things up with their ex. Something other than the perpetual single LIs we get or their horde of dead exes. Jaal sort of comes close. His lover left him for his brother. Death was much later lol and I think PeeBee is in that category too. They aren't NPC's though. I like this idea! Yeah the death being later is better but she still died. PeeBee tho yeah.

Well if they overcompensate like they usually do, we should have 2 gay squad members. 1 human and 1 alien. 1 of them should have ties to the plot. Edit: I don't believe it would be overcompensating, I'd love to see that.

Yeah the death being later is better but she still died. PeeBee tho yeah. Well we can cause that death! LOL! I originally did not allow her ex to die and sacrificed the tech, but I guess Peebee gets over it and decides the tech was worthwhile. So, I may... Let her die next chance I get. I still feel horrible though! I want good Remnant knowledge though.

Let her die next chance I get. I still feel horrible though! I want good Remnant knowledge though. I really have no problems killing Kalinda - not five minutes ago she'd ordered all her people to kill us, to say nothing of the ambushes she'd set up before. From where Ryder stands in that moment, it comes down to a consistently double-crossing backstabber or Remnant tech that could help unlock the mysteries of the cluster. No competition there.

I did feel bad the Moshae was mad at me when I chose to not blow up the factory. I hate the Angara being mad at me so early on in the bonding period between the races. I don't want the history books saying my Ryder did selfish things.

Bioware? Hugely overcompensating in the face of complaints? I'm not sure I know what you mean. By that logic, their next game will ONLY have romanceable gay men in it and no other characters at all. Then everyone else will finally have a leg to stand on with this "durn SJWs ruined mah game" schtick. Bioware buys and adapts Coming Out On Top to be an open world RPG.

Jaal and you do have a talk and can start over, but if you kill Akksul too, I think he's not so forgiving. For Sara he won't even look at her as a romantic interest lol and yeah the Moshae upset bothers me, but more because I want to tell her off for her emotions affecting her logic. Same with that choice with the Angara on Voeld who you find proof for that the Angara helped the Kett.

I didn't blow up the facility so Jaal wouldn't get mad at me and I saved Drack's scouts so he wouldn't get made at me. lol I'm easily swayed by my companions, but especially Jaal and Drack, because they're two of my favorites. I'm fine with killing Kalinda, though, because she gives me serious abuser red flags and honestly I do want her to gtfo of Peebee's life. She tried to kill Peebee for pettiness a hot minute ago and now she's all "boohoo, I'm sorry". Fuck no, lava for you.
