I'm wondering what your distinction is between "lurking a thread" and "following someone else to a thread." If I had to guess, "lurking a thread" keeps the posts in the thread they were made while "following someone else to a thread" has the post go to a different thread. For example if someone says something bi/homophobic in the Romance thread and you are lurking and call them out that is fine. However seeing it in the Romance thread but calling that person out in a different thread is not since that post was made in the Romance thread. I recall certain people doing this a lot back in the day.

But anyways, in @theresagiltheresaway case, if I remember correctly, the homophobic post was in Jaal thread, and the callout post was also in Jaal thread. I can dig this up if we are to continue this.

Regarding Alexis Kennedy's recent remarks, why don't one of you who is on Twitter hit up Patrick Weekes about it? "Saw A. Kennedy's remarks in Eurogamer re: LGBT rep. Seems he doesn't get reason for concern and that gaymers are whiny. Not pleased about him writing DA now."
(Yeah, that's probably more than 140 chars >.>.)
Sure, you might get spin, or you may not. It can't hurt to raise the issue with a DA team lead and see what/if he has anything to say about it. I'd do it myself, but I'm not on Twitter, and refuse to be on Twitter.
As for the article itself, it makes it seem like he is writing a specific plot or area of the game. For example, a major mission or something like Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. I didn't get the feeling he was writing followers in that sense. That actually might be beyond his experience at the moment, considering how involved these characters are, with tons of branching, conditional dialogue, conditional romances and relationships, and so forth. But he does have experience with plots.
I'm not concerned at all, really. He won't be responsible for any decisions, and as the article itself points out, peer review is a major process with input from the entire writing pit.

Yeah that's what I got too. I read it as him either writing a couple main quests or him writing a couple areas rather than him writing members of the main cast.

Homophobia should not be welcomed, period. And its existence on BSN never makes me feel welcomed but I endure. And since it is okay to post homophobic shits any time and they are not removed, it should be okay to call them out any time without being removed. This is fair after all. No views should be protected from scrutiny on here. Whatever you might define as "homophobic shits" are still typically contained to one thread and replied to in a timely manner. Even if you only reply to it days later because you were away or collecting your thoughts or whatever it's still a little different from tracking someone down on a different thread or even board and telling them what for. PM them if circumstances really are such that replying in the same space it originates from is no longer practical, although too many PMs can also be harassing past a certain number. It's not a hard and fast rule but it's not rocket science either. Common sense/common courtesy, even if you feel the other party has neither. And I am fine if people are digging up what I have talked in the past since I am the only one who is responsible for what I post on here. I can deal with them or ignore them. Well, me personally? I never say something on a public forum that I'm not willing to stick by. Maybe more people should be careful about what they post, because it never goes away. Fair points, and ones I happen to agree with. But we're human, we fuck up. And even that aside, some people aren't as careful. Should they necessarily be haunted by their past? This is getting into rhetorical philosophizing, but I'm just saying. We're all here to have fun and talk about BioWare games (and sometimes other shit). We're not really meant to be other people's ghosts and the rules cater to the former, not the latter.

Well, me personally? I never say something on a public forum that I'm not willing to stick by. Maybe more people should be careful about what they post, because it never goes away. A-FUCKING-MEN. If you said it, then you said it. There is no expiration date on when homophobia can be addressed and if you've said shit like that in the past, you'd best believe that I will bring that up when speaking to you in the future. You don't get a pass because you are hoping I forget. Also you could see a homophobic post when it was posted, but you still needed some time to form your opinion to response to it. So there could be some delay in responding to it. Or it was not clear if a post is homophobic when you first saw it, then after the time passed, you realized that with additional context, it was actually homophobic, so then your response was delayed. Because this is the kind of nuance that this mod team doesn't understand. Funny, I think an additional LGBT mod would be helpful to point these things out to them, wouldn't they?

I'm thinking of starting a Scott playthrough for Gil tonight...what are your favorite face presets for him? I like the default a lot but the animation issues seem to focus on the default Ryders so I think I should probably make a custom...

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all could just have fun and talk about Bioware games without having homophobia in our faces?

Seems unfair to bring up those old homophobic posts in that case since that person's mindset has changed so those posts did expire. This extends to all ignorant posts, for example some Bioware devs had their eyes opened about things because of the fans so have had their minds changed.

I still see this as unfair moderation because there is more limits to calling out homophobic posts that to posting homophobic posts themselves. Now then the question is if there are several homophobic posts made by a user, at different times, it is okay to response to the latest one while calling out the previous ones in the same post as well? This is important because a lot of homophobia here is subtle. It's difficult to formulate argument against it without full context. This is why I have screenshot posts. Edit: grammar

Thank you for answering. I was just wondering since it seemed that in some cases it would be unfair for someone to be held to something they posted back before they realized that was bad and changed their views since then.

Because this is the kind of nuance that this mod team doesn't understand. Funny, I think an additional LGBT mod would be helpful to point these things out to them, wouldn't they? The kind of nuance that is not in this case applicable? Because I believe minds were made up long before the date in question as to whether the comments were homophobic. Especially in here, where there's more or less consensus from the regular members I find it hard to believe that one person just arrived to the party late and the after dinner drinks were already being served in another thread. Regardless the case was closed and like I said the relevant parties should no longer cause an issue. We now return to your regularly scheduled romance talk.
