Because this is the kind of nuance that this mod team doesn't understand. Funny, I think an additional LGBT mod would be helpful to point these things out to them, wouldn't they? The kind of nuance that is not in this case applicable? Because I believe minds were made up long before the date in question as to whether the comments were homophobic. Especially in here, where there's more or less consensus from the regular members I find it hard to believe that one person just arrived to the party late and the after dinner drinks were already being served in another thread. Regardless the case was closed and like I said the relevant parties should no longer cause an issue. We now return to your regularly scheduled romance talk. I've seen a pattern now. Every time someone brings up a LGBT mod, everyone has to return to their "regular schedule romance talk." Why won't you address their concern about trying to get another LGBT mod? It could help you and the LGBT people out.

I'm thinking of starting a Scott playthrough for Gil tonight...what are your favorite face presets for him? I like the default a lot but the animation issues seem to focus on the default Ryders so I think I should probably make a custom... Can someone expand on this? I've only done a single play as default Scott and things seemed fine?

I still see this as unfair moderation because there is more limits to calling out homophobic posts that to posting homophobic posts themselves. Now then the question is if there are several homophobic posts made by a user, at different times, it is okay to response to the latest one while calling out the previous ones in the same post as well? This is important because a lot of homophobia here is subtle. It's difficult to formulate argument against it without full context. This is why I have screenshot posts. Edit: grammar I understand your concerns. And this discussion is affirming our case-by-case context approach. You're right, I can't say "thou shalt never reference a post from another thread to call out a user". There are cases where that would not be inappropriate. We have to look at the full scope of the case- what's being said, how it's being said, where etc. In the previous case the mods judged it inappropriate. Next time it might be different. As to more opportunities for homophobia, unfortunately that is also a reality that can't be denied. An attack can come from anywhere, but a defense must respond to an attack. I guess the only thing I can say is don't counter-attack the user, attack the weapon. Tear the post apart, call to ignore it, or if it is particularly heinous, call us. We have vowed to be more sensitive to the type of trolling that skirts the line but still has a negative impact. Let's see how we do. It'll be a learning experience regardless.

To be fair it might be more on the Sara side of things since I mostly hear about her facial animations, but I know I've heard that he can have similar mouth problems that she does because the default for his mouth is a bit wide as well? I've not played as him yet or seen much with him though so this is all what I've just seen some people say.

My "let's get back on topic" was not in response to that, it was a realization that a call to return to topic had been made already (by the originator of the concern no less) but that I had kept the discussion going off track so to speak. I have nothing to add to the topic of another LGBT mod that hasn't already been said.

I've only done a single play as default Scott and things seemed fine? My default Scott has some problems with clipping issues during the culmination scene with Gil. And there are some problems during conversations with Gil where the screen turns black when Scott is speaking. I am not sure if this is the case for non-default one though.

What exactly has been said? This forum is for the people and the LGBT people has voiced their concern about wanting another LGBT mod around here. The mods around here has constantly swept the LGBT mod concern under the rug.

Default Scott is fine but to me he looks like puberty is still a few years away. Clipping is still an issue though.

Man, I can't wait until this pagecount gets to my birth year. As for whatever went on today, I'm too emotionally exhausted to comment. Listening to bullshit from a corporation that caused one of the biggest gas leaks in American history for most of the day will do that to ya. If you're gonna go for Gil, I gotta rec preset 5. He looks very tired and gay. Give him a bf to be tired with.

Personally, I'm pretty partial to my custom Ryder from my first run and my New Game plus that I'm almost done with right now. I believe I built him from preset six, though it's been a couple months, I may be misremembering.

So, I've slowly been catching up on the thread (I'm still a few pages behind), and after reading some of the discussion about the bi Jaal thing, there was something that I wanted to add.
I do not understand the whole "tailor-made for straight women" thing. As much as I've tried to think about and analyze it since I first came across the argument a few months ago, it has never made sense to me.
Romances are not tailored to any specific gender or sexual orientation; romances are tailored to people.
Every romance will have players who feel that the love interest was tailor-made for them because of a combination of physical attraction, personality, and plot. But this is not because of the gender or sexual orientation of the player. It is the result of life experience and personal preference, and while I do recognize that gender and sexual orientation are significant factors that contribute to any person's life experience and personal preference, they are not the sole factors.
As a result, people of all genders and all sexual orientations have a wide range of differing and overlapping preferences for what they want out of a video game romance (or out of any romance in general). To believe anything else is to stereotype large groups of people.
Just taking gay men as an example: There are gay men who are promiscuous, and there are gay men who are monogamous. There are gay men who want to be with someone who they can go out with all the time, and there are gay men who would prefer to stay in. There are gay men who want to romance a dashing rogue in a video game, and there are gay men who would prefer a KISA. And there are gay men who want any or all of these things while there are others who want none. Just as there are women who want any or all of these things while there are others who want none.
If given the chance to romance Jaal, some gay men will feel that the romance was tailor-made for them; some will not. Just as some women feel that Jaal was tailor-made for them while others do not.
This is why the "tailor-made" argument makes no sense to me. It's not about gender. It's not about sexual orientation. It's about individual people and their personal preferences.
As a side note: I can, however, understand why some feel that the direction and the camera angles used to depict the scenes that make up a romance might be tailored to a specific gender or orientation, but for the romance as a whole? Not so much.

I actually like to use the default Scott. I didn't really notice many major glitches with him? I didn't get many character glitches, but a lot of environmental things, like all the enemies spawning way up in the sky. Sometimes I had to reload an area because vital enemies spawned way out of reach. Playing on xbox, for context. It seems like with most of the presents, they get this weird crows feet thing going on after you get into the game. I only played ME:A once, though. I don't know the numbers, but probably I'd try the Asian or black presets in the future. I've heard people have less problems with them looking like grandpas.

Well, I'm probably not your type but a user did once say that I'm a dick, a "literal penis.. sitting at a keyboard". My response was to send a selfie: I think we should trade computers. Mine is slowly turning into a potato. Which means that once its transformation is complete, my computer will be edible. So I would be getting a computer. And you would be getting a computer AND something to eat. Which is one more thing than I would be getting. And more things is always better than not more things. I extend this offer because I am generous and benevolent. I would like to give people more things. And this trade will let me do that. First by giving you a potato. Second by allowing me to demonstrate to Bioware the kindness of my heart. They will be impressed by my generosity and self sacrifice. And they will give me a chance to write a character. Which I will need your computer to do. Because mine is turning into a potato. And they will like the character of my character enough to let me write more characters. And all of them will be romanceable. And there will be enough to suit the tastes of everyone in this thread. Because I am generous and benevolent. I can give everyone all of the romances. And then everyone in this thread would be happy. And there would be no more fighting. So, really, by trading computers with me, you're only helping yourself. You would have less work to do to keep this thread peaceful. And you would have something to eat. A Potato. Edit: I think I might be a bit sleep deprived.

This doesn't really have anything to do with romance but I've been playing Injustice 2 recently and goddamn the facial animation and detail is mind-boggling especially when you compare it to Injustice 1. I can't give enough credit to how much every character's face looks distinct and different from one another and the fact that all this attention to detail was done for a fighting game of all things just leaves me stunned.
I know Injustice 2 is a fighting game and doesn't have to artfully craft an entire world like an open-world RPG but regardless Bioware needs to desperately take some lessons from it, especially in regard to doing non-white facial features well.

Regarding Alexis Kennedy's recent remarks, why don't one of you who is on Twitter hit up Patrick Weekes about it? "Saw A. Kennedy's remarks in Eurogamer re: LGBT rep. Seems he doesn't get reason for concern and that gaymers are whiny. Not pleased about him writing DA now." (Yeah, that's probably more than 140 chars >.>.) Sure, you might get spin, or you may not. It can't hurt to raise the issue with a DA team lead and see what/if he has anything to say about it. I'd do it myself, but I'm not on Twitter, and refuse to be on Twitter. As for the article itself, it makes it seem like he is writing a specific plot or area of the game. For example, a major mission or something like Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. I didn't get the feeling he was writing followers in that sense. That actually might be beyond his experience at the moment, considering how involved these characters are, with tons of branching, conditional dialogue, conditional romances and relationships, and so forth. But he does have experience with plots. I'm not concerned at all, really. He won't be responsible for any decisions, and as the article itself points out, peer review is a major process with input from the entire writing pit. Maybe you should tweet this to Allan Schumacher as well? He's very nice whet it comes to LGBT. We should remind him that now we are worried about Dragon Age and this new writer.

Hey! Page 1989! I was born in 1989 Hey! Page 1995! I was born in 1995 I agree...this complete lack of information has to end soon. If the patch doesn't fix things to a great extent, we can't just let it go either. We have to get right back to letting them know what is still wrong in the game if they don't really make a huge effort that goes above and beyond expectations. Oh, you know I'll always be ready to fight the good fight. Gil, sweetheart.. would you maybe please shut it with those "triggered," memes please? you too, BansheeOwnage ?? Pls, do it for me? Or at least idk, take it down a notch? (i.e your weekly "triggered" meme contingent is now eaten up) I'm a speshul snowflake who lacks the ability to find memes that make a state of high emotional distress a joke.. Its similar to the "autistic screeching" memes(and 'we' talked about that a bit over... I trust ya to be not asses about this..pls thx Sorry. My post was half-joking. It was playful because it's not actually a big deal, but I do get annoyed when people misspell names, especially my name. Also, I might not 100% understand the "triggered" thing, since as far as I ever saw it it was parody. I guess it was used unironically before. Anyway, my intention was definitely not to make anyone feel bad, and I didn't expect that to happen.

So I created a cute (imo) custom Scott...but I think I'm going to save him for later and use default Scott for now...you guys were totally right about those weird crows feet, and he gets smile lines too...he's only 22!! Anyway those gifs earlier really sold me on default Scott and Gil, I just thought I would try out a custom one to see how it feels before going default. Sharing my custom here for posterity: Another one under the spoiler tag:
