One of the many, many things I find annoying about Jill is that they give you a dialog option to tell Gil you think that way Jill teases him about his failure to procreate is shitty and abusive, so there was some awareness on the writer's part that this was, in fact, shitty and abusive. And then they have Gil assure you that it's totally okay. But, I'm sorry, it's not okay, and I feel extra bad that Gil has internalized this to the point where he just accepts it. Yeah, the way I've seen it phrased is that Jill acts like the person who was the least homophobic, and became his quote-unquote "best friend" by default. And I mean, there's a lot psychological you could do with this, if the quest was about finding him a new best friend. But the game wants us to be 'reassured' by the fact that Gil says this abusive relationship is just fine with him. Needless to say, they failed.

For a heartbeat, before reality kicks me in the face, I REALLY want this idea that the patch won't be next week but sometime in the next month means that they HAVE brought the actors back to the studio, meaning they ARE doing legitimate changes to things like Gil's arc, and it's taking some extra time to do everything they need in the conversations...
I mean, I don't dare LEGITIMATELY hope, but... I WANT to.

Just FYI, reading the full context of that twitter thread, it looks like they're discussing hotfixes in regards to Alec and familial resemblance.

Actually, TBH, before Gil came along, I didn't think anything could be worse than what David Gaider gave us with Dorian. I'll cop to being a white gay, but I hope I don't write like a White Gay.

It's like... You know this story has been done, right? This is the exact same story every gay character gets in everything. They just needed Dorian's mum to complete the trifecta. "Son, have you ever tried... NOT being gay?"

Dorian's writting was shit. I put up with the fact he was an obvious bottom, cause I liked his personality mostly. I over looked that he was emotionally unavailable because he was so hot and one of the only 2 options we got. However, when he decided to leave for very forced BioWare reasons-I was just done with his ass. I just don't like much of anything about his romance path at this point.

Also with Maevaris and Dorian forming the Lucerni, there is an honest chance of change in Tevinter. A place that would welcome anyone. One of my favourite things about the DA:I romances is that all branch so beautifully in terms of the characters. Having happy endings for everyone would've been cheap. Well that is just my opinion. I am looking for well written character arcs that make sense, and DA:I had plenty of them. ME:A? Not so much.

I wish we could have more LGBT writers, so we don't have to keep seeing the same shit over and over from straight writers. Of course, then people say that it's too much to expect to have more LGBT writers (as if there's not a TON of unemployed LGBT writers out there who'd love to be given a job) and that it's awful to generalize straight writers because blah blah blah. And, look, I'm not banning them or harassing them or doing anything malicious just by saying they fuck up pretty much always, to the point it's fucking exhausting. Straight people don't have to constantly be at the edge of their seat wondering "How will they fuck up one of the few representations of my sexuality? Will it their first appearance? Will they turn out to be a secret rapist several episodes/scenes down the line? Will they be killed off at the first opportunity? Will their whole story be about their own victimization because of their sexuality?" It's enough to make me wanna quit having any escapism altogether sometimes, since it's hardly escapism if you still have glaring homophobia shoved in your face all the time. God, just let me live.

Other then BioWare reasons and him being too full of himself and wanting all the credit. It's shit, and I stand by it.

I have friends who have been to ACTUAL CONVERSION THERAPY CAMPS and were ACTUALLY ELECTROCUTED. Dorian got off easy, because BioWare are fucking cowards. Show the torture, show the consequences. Make it brutal. I wanna see straight people squirm when they play that mission.

God, just let me live.Exactly, this. I used to play video games for this, especially ones I could play as the gay man I am in RL, but it does seem like homophobic storylines are all we get. That's all we are to straight people and even to one another (in reference to the White Gays). Science fiction was always something close to me because where is a better place to read about alienation of minorities than it? Now, it is just getting to the point we were invited to a party but never expected to show up. They can write about us, but we can't actually do anything about what is said. We are numbers to them, and that's just how the cookie crumbles. Life is pathetic, and we are here to spend money and suffer... after we tell our tragic coming-out stories (even if not everyone has one, you still are expected to have one every time some white girl asks about your lifestyle at a party).

Also, "Dorian left for himself".
He's a fictional character. He doesn't do anything unless a writer makes him.
We all understand that, right?
Right?

I'm fine with Dorian leaving because it means he'll probably be heavily featured in the next game, like Leliana for DA:I except hopefully even more significant. My dream is a super gay DA4 where Dorian is argued to be the "true" protagonist of the game despite not being the player character.
