Very funny, Gamble. I don't even know what to say after this LOL, so maybe he thinks that saying that patch is in the works was actually ''twitting for days'' about the patch I can understand silence before the game premiere, but now? Considering the person is asking if there is a new one still coming, there is nothing wrong with Gamble's response.

Considering it is a patch, I'm expecting it to be more content with Gil and Reyes that tends to the feedback they've seen from people(for example sex scenes, Gil romance scenes not related to Jill or the baby, etc). Maybe they are able to fit in a third option in the patch using an existing character like Liam or Jaal or maybe Drack(assuming they add a third option and that option would be a squadmate due to those being among the most common feedback received). Drack doesn't seem conceivable in ANY way. He's not a romance at all, so they would have to create new romance content just for him. The only logical choices are to make Jaal or Liam bi because they can reuse existing romance content. Now, regardless of whatever is currently in the files, using Liam would be lame because that would saddle the m/m players with three humans, which seems silly when one of the selling points is to romance aliens, and m/m has never had an alien option. I agree Drack is not likely. I just put him because he is still a slight possibility, and him not being a romance option may actually give them more wiggle room to include a new m/m romance. Plus it'd be interesting to see if the first krogan LI is m/m exclusive. As for Liam, they could easily take that dialogue where he talks about only being interested in women out and replaced with a line that shows attraction to men as well. I've seen quite a few people talk about how they think he would have been a good option for m/m so who knows. Though you pointing out that still leaves no alien LI is a good point.

i know a lot of ppl aren't fond of them for various reasons but i really like squadmate romances and i hope they come up in future games. especially gay ones. this would have been so cute, if hawke didn't romance either of them. :sob: I much prefer the sisterly relationship they have in the game rather than them becoming a couple. Now Isabela and Bethany would be cute if they became a couple. huh! i didn't see their relationship as sisterly in the slightest, but to each their own. izzy/beth is also top tier

How can you be sure this is a conscious effort, or unconscious even, to queerbait people? Pre-release they had no reason to expect demand for Jaal to be a bi romance option would be so fervent. I can maybe understand how people would think Cassandra or Cora might have been bi/lesbian options given stereotypes about lesbian women's haircuts and personalities, but I don't think this really applies in the case of Jaal. I guess what I'm trying to say, is why mark this down as queerbaiting, when it could just be him supporting fans making their opinions known? see this is why i so often resort to snark and rudeness, that was a genuine question, I'm not intimately familiar with what constitutes queerbaiting. I'm sure there are more pre-release examples, but one that I know of had a tweet where he talked about the good alien banging, or something along those lines. This was taken to mean that there would be aliens for ALL. As we see, the final result is that m/m don't have an alien option, again, for the fourth game. As far as expecting demand for a bi Jaal specifically, that is not really pertinent. He is the only male alien who is a romance option in the entire game. He is also a squad mate. Those two facts alone mean that people would be clamoring for him as an option, regardless of gender. And again, m/m have not had an alien romance at all, which is something many of those players want, and has been a known thing for a very long time. I didn't even start following ME stuff until I played MEA and I know that from what I've absorbed through osmosis on the fringes. The developers themselves, who are supposed to be in touch with their fan community, should know better. At any rate, queerbaiting is the intentional suggestion, whether it's in the actual media itself (character flirting, etc), or from the creators in social media, that a given same-sex pairing might happen, when the people doing the "baiting" have no intention of following through. It's Lucy vs Charlie Brown with a queer football, as it were. [edit] I'll also point out that both of the angara options are heterosexual, as Avela (a fling) is only available to male Ryder, which is pretty crappy for the shiny new alien race in a new galaxy. In fact, the angara are the only alien romance options in the game that are NOT bisexual. There was also a comment from Mike Gamble that they 'were happy with the specifics' of romances, and I believe that one was specifically in reference to gay LIs. Plus there was a great deal of asking - begging, pleading, really - for a list of LIs and their sexualities prior to release, with the only response being 'it's more fun to play the game and experience it for yourself!' Even after queer players said, specifically, that for many these games are an escape from homophobia and fear in their lives, so the idea of knowing who was and was not romanceable ahead of time was something that we wanted so that we weren't setting ourselves up for rejection by pinning our hopes on certain characters. Meanwhile, at the same time the developers are adamantly refusing to say anything, they released trailers that confirmed first Cora and then Peebee as romances for BroRyder specifically. They were dropping hints of Liam and Jaal as SisRyder options. They were dancing around the elephant in the room of same-sex romances with these characters. The official reveal of Gil's very EXISTENCE came on the heels of a journalist who'd gotten to play like the first ten hours or so, flirted with Liam with BroRyder, and got the 'no homo' reaction. This was just a couple of weeks before release, after a lot of refusal to be direct to gay players asking 'what about us? What are our options? Can we romance this character?' Players were responding to the various tweets that hinted at Jaal and Liam as SisRyder options by asking if BroRyder could romance them as well, and instead of a direct answer - a direct answer that they very much knew the answer to AND knew it could cost them sales if they answered it because of the fact that they knew it was shorting these players - they just kept being disingenuous. There were, in specific, fans tweeting them, saying specifically 'hey, the fear of not just rejection but the fear that approaching someone and learning they're straight, potentially putting our safety at risk is part of our everyday life, so we'd rather not go through that in our escapist fantasy.' But all that we got in return was 'we won't take away the fun of discovery.' When what there was to 'discover' was significantly less than what straight players were able to 'discover.' Likewise, given Mass Effect's history with M/M relationships, we were more than a little gun shy in the first place - they had to be dragged, kicking and screaming, to include them in the first place, and only managed to bring themselves to do so in the third game, where romances were really at their shallowest. To date, there has only been one bisexual male party member in the SERIES, in all four games. And despite being a character in three games, he's only a male romance option in one. And the male ship romance options of Gil and Steve Cortez are characters who receive less content because they're not on missions with the PC. Also, both characters (as well as Traynor and Suvi) did not have dedicated face designs like the other human romance options, where they were built via the character creator, so a player could conceivably romance them with an identical PC. The fact that it actually HELPED Dragon Age Inquisition to have openly gay and bisexual characters in the actual squad itself makes it all worse - BioWare was praised for it, the game won Game of the Year, we expected that, if nothing else, Andromeda would follow that model. But instead, they took a KNOWING step back.

To me it was obvious that Isabela was like an older sister to Merrill and Merrill was a younger sister to Isabela. Same vein as Leliana and Josephine in DAI. Yeah Isabela and Bethany would have been great. The potential is definitely there in Act 1. Much better than the Isabela/Fenris friends with benefits thing they ended up doing. Though I guess one reason they didn't do Isabela/Bethany is because Bethany is either dead or unable to be with the group in Act 2 and 3 other than the finale.

Bi Jaal or bust. It still baffles me as to why he wasn't bi from the start. You don't even have to be good at math to see the unfairness of the current romance distribution. Unless no one at BW can count to three.

I've seen quite a few people talk about how they think he would have been a good option for m/m so who knows. Though you pointing out that still leaves no alien LI is a good point. I'd love Liam as an option, but I honestly think that ship has sailed - he DOES explicitly say 'I'm not in to guys.' And while I wouldn't be against that line being removed, or even some story about him having never considered it before, but Ryder changes his mind, between the precedent it sets (on their end) and a lack of trust with the writers to handle the subject (on mine), I don't see it happening. Jaal, meanwhile, is a romance option who BroRyder literally can't flirt with to gauge his interest, so Jaal never offers a direct turn down to him. The result of that is while he is assumed to be straight, he never actually says as much. Especially considering that the indications from datamining and the tweets from BroRyder's VA, it seems that at one point in production, a point that had them recording lines, Jaal WAS at one point meant to be bi. It's reasonable to expect restored content. Changing content is another matter entirely (re: why I hold little hope for salvaging Gil's romance).

Jaal WAS bi at one point. The proof is in the pudding. Why else would Scott's VA record dialogue for the post-Jaal sex scene discussion with Lexi. Why else would the datamines show what it did. Why else would Jaal have NO flirt->rejection scene with Scott even though BW said that you can flirt with anyone and be turned down.
Anyway, if BW would just promise that bi Jaal is happening, I could wait for like, a month or two more *SHRUG*

When confronted with the fact that only straight options had been revealed and there was queer bating going on, his response was simply that it had been this way with Mass Effect.

My concern is, would the devs really do this again after the pain and misery that occurred back in March and continued through the months? Could they actually release this patch without any male squadmate romance or keep Jaal straight and expect everyone to be happy? I don't see it. They have to know by now that there's only one way to fix this mess, and improving Gil and Reyes won't work. Heck they could make Reyes a squadmate, but you still won't get to complete the achievement. I'm about 85% positive Jaal will be bi. I'd raise the percentage higher, but marketing is in charge of things and we know how well that turned out last time.

Yep, to fix the achievement they need to introduce third male/male romance option, or make Jaal bi, or change achievement to only 2 needed romances (unlikely).
While I doubt that Jaal will be bi, I'm very curious what will BW do in this regard..
Still all that Twitter baiting reminds me of March 2017...

My concern is, would the devs really do this again after the pain and misery that occurred back in March and continued through the months? Yes. Absolutely. The whole point has been that they repeatedly DO. NOT. GET. IT. Like... the whole reason we're riding them this hard is that we were baited and jerked around once before, and we're not content to let it happen again, but instead of being upfront and open, they've engaged in nothing but vagueness about this patch and what 'improvements' actually means.
