A dev I spoke to used the "very happy" line with me too about the upcoming content, so yeah, I guess they could do this again... I just hope not. He did? OMG, here it comes again, my stupid faith in BW, and all this baiting (again!), will I fall by it once again? I admit I did get happy about it back then. I'm still staying optimistic and believing that they can't be THAT stupid and repeat this again after how bad it was this time. No one can be that stupid. *remembers how Gil was supposed to be the best romance ever for gay men, so good a dev thought it would top a squadmate romance* Maybe they can...

Considering the situation, Bioware should be the one hitting us stick with MEA on it.

It's hard to say, but from how they replied (in a DM) it seems they did think Gil was great and seemed clueless to why no one wanted to try him and wanted a squadmate instead (even said they didn't get the big deal about squadmate romances).

I'm fairly certain they know that squadmates are a big deal to everyone now. If you ever talk to Prince again, he could probably tell you if he thinks they were sincere or not. It was his message he shared with me. If they really didn't get it, that explains a lot regarding the Jill thing.

Yeah, I don't get why they didn't just reveal a graph of all the romances on Twitter or MEA's main website a month before release. I mean, I remember how the DAI romances were revealed two months before the game was released. Sure people would still complain about the choices but the level fandom rage would have likely been tempered if Bioware was just transparent this time around instead of playing coy.
I seriously hate to resort to coming up with conspiracy theories that put Bioware in a bad light but I can only assume they were nervous that the LGBT portion of the community would cry foul and start a "Social Justice Warrior" fueled controversy before launch and potentially hurt sales when its revealed that gay men would get the least amount of choices.

Like, the generous interpretation is that they took the wrong message from Inquisition's love interest reveals - that was a slow trickle, where they slowly revealed who was romanceable AND by whom (they let slip that Cassandra and Cullen were options together, but not that they were only for opposite sex Inquisitors, and there was a lot of wait for who the next LI reveal would be...). So they decided 'we had this backlash for slowly revealing the LIs in Inquisition, let's not reveal any for Andromeda!' Which is kind of an encapsulation of BioWare's overall problem with feedback, they seem to consistently learn the wrong lesson, overcorrect for one issue and let a new one form in its place (like how there was all the response to DA2's reused maps, so every map in Inquisition was gloriously expansive and unique... but full of nothing and disconnected from the story).

i know a lot of ppl aren't fond of them for various reasons but i really like squadmate romances and i hope they come up in future games. especially gay ones. this would have been so cute, if hawke didn't romance either of them. :sob: I much prefer the sisterly relationship they have in the game rather than them becoming a couple. Now Isabela and Bethany would be cute if they became a couple. Or, perhaps.... a compromise: Bethany, Isabela, and Merrill having a threesome which is at first just them wanting to show Bethany "how it's done" and then turns into a messy three-way relationship where all of them are confused about the status of the relationship 24/7

Absolutely. The whole point has been that they repeatedly DO. NOT. GET. IT. Like... the whole reason we're riding them this hard is that we were baited and jerked around once before, and we're not content to let it happen again, but instead of being upfront and open, they've engaged in nothing but vagueness about this patch and what 'improvements' actually means. I think at least a couple of them understand. Bioware just benefits more from playing dumb in general. It's easier to deal with bad publicity if you look like you had no idea that this was a thing in the first place.

Still have no idea where that came from. First time the datamining spoiled Gil and Scott having a baby, I thought it was your choice and something you would do in the future, but no, it happens even as Sara. It's worse with Sara because Gil basically hooks up with a woman.
