No. lol! Well that settles that. Yoda has spoken. hehe. How's it going dear? You know, it's a little strange. Metaphorically speaking, I was born in the Jaal thread. My BSN adolescence was spent thinking, "Game will come out, I'll romance Jaal, it will be amazing." It's actually nice if many people can experience the romance because it makes it easier to discuss and compare notes. I don't care that IB was bi. I actually couldn't even care less if Dorian was made Bi, although since Dorian is the ONLY gay LI, I can understand gay people's reluctance to have him made bi. I do not understand Straight people's reluctance, but I don't want to start this shitshow of an argument again. Now, even though the initial problem has been solved, and I'm really happy for everyone enjoying the romance, I can't even bring myself to start another Playthrough. Jaal isn't doing it for me anymore, and Andromeda is not a strong enough game for me to be excited about playing it multiple times. For me, Jaal is almost a symbol of shattered expectations and Bioware's myopic nonsense. So I really don't want him in DA4. Hahaha.

So...my impression until now: I quite like Jaal. I like the Angara overall. I'm quite liking the game, beside some things. More than I expected. As I thought, I'm not liking much PeeBee. I love Kallo and Suvi. I don't have still much of an opinion about Lexi and Gil. Surprising, I'm quite liking Liam. The bad surprise is...for now I'm not liking Vetra. And she was the character I was more exited for. She feel...so little Turian. I don't know, I hope she will surprise me later...but for now, I don't feel in her the...alieness I should. Beside her body model/face, she has nothing Turian. Even her backstory...or what I've seen until now, does't feel like the story of a Turian character. She could be changed with an Asari or human, and nothing would chage about her story. I hope this wibe will be proven wrong. Returning to play now A lot of people have been saying that about Vetra, and I feel the same way too. I guess she's "too human" would be the best way to explain it. It's truly a delusion I was so exited about a female Turian... did her writer worked foe ME before? Because Vetra feel like a Turian adopted by a human, who have no idea about the Turian culture at all... and no alien instinct at that... I don't hate the character...I'm just disappointed....

Turian have the society they have because of their instict. Even without exposure to Turian culture, she should have some traits...or at least some interior struggle. (Since I still haven't finished the game, maybe it will happen later, and my complain/delusion is for nothing) I don't know: is like seeing a finch who doesn't sing. Its either ill or not a finch.

Most of the MW aliens feel like that in this game. I think it's partly because instead of still being at odds after the war ended 30 years ago, everyone is living together, picking up on each others traits, personalities, mannerisms and it shows unity. A unity we rarely saw in ME due to how many wounds were still open and racism still ran strong. The Angaran Ambassador says something similar when you talk to him on the Nexus.

I liked that she was a Turian-the-species but explicitly not a Turian citizen and that it actually showed in her behaviour. It feels lazy to me that we're generally supposed to accept that every species needs to fall into a certain set personality, except for humans with their super-special-diversity. It always seemed silly to me that species who had colonized different planets would still somehow all stick to an identical set of personality traits and social behaviours, so I actually loved that Vetra subverted a lot of that essence-of-Turian stuff.

The point is actually this: humabs are supposed to be the race with no instict, the wild card. The others races, should have their "alieness". Just like a cat that can't really stop his predatory nature, even if is just running behind a strange light, or something that move funny, alien races should have certain inalterble traits and characteristics, or struggle a lot with them. Like a Vulcan or a Klingon struggle with their instict (one with a rigid logic and the other withtheir temper) so I think the Mass Effect racs should too, adding to their alieness.

You know, it's a little strange. Metaphorically speaking, I was born in the Jaal thread. My BSN adolescence was spent thinking, "Game will come out, I'll romance Jaal, it will be amazing." Then the game came out and Jaal was spoiled for me by Bioware's shit (let's be honest, you can love BW but they were REALLY shitty this time around and the Straight!Jaal decision was just INEXPLICABLE) and the general furore surrounding the discussion of characters' sexualities. I never realised there was so much resentment that some characters were made non-straight. I mean, if a character is available to me, I don't care how many other people have access to him/her. It's actually nice if many people can experience the romance because it makes it easier to discuss and compare notes. Hahaha. I totally get where you are coming from. I hate that they ruined the experience of Jaal for so many people who got the game early. It's unforgivable how the game launched, and I shall never forget! I hope that Bioware really learns from this whole thing and won't fuck up again with DA4. Just give us equal options from the start and be clear about the options in the marketing. This is not supposed to be difficult.

Some of us straight females also had the experience ruined because our friends here went through crap because of their decision to make him a non-romance for males. Once it was solved, I was ready to enjoy the romance since all I did was speedruns for others and I just can't bring myself to try. I am burned out, emotionally drained and that's not how someone should feel when playing a game they love.

I don't know where you are at in the game but certainly by half way through I felt how she was still fitted the Turian race but just that her early life changed her strict "Society first" instinct to a different focus (Don't want to spoil anything) at least that was my view of it.

Let's be honest and admit that the ME series has never really been about humanity and truly alien beings coming to together. With the exception of the Geth and Rachni all the major aliens that you ally with are humans with a gimmick and really good Star Trek alien makeup on. In a weird way its actually kind of racist because the only species that you potentially wipe out are the Geth, Rachni and the Krogan whose warrior culture is probably given a lot more detail than any of the Citadel races and most contrast with humanity. So, it comes across like humanity only able to make friends with species whose mentality and culture is similar to their own.

However, I'm not planning to preorder. They'd have to announce equal options and then some to get me to buy it early on even. I'm kind of over day one bugs at this point really.

Yeah, I've preordered BioWare games since DA2, and I have no intention of preordering again unless I know for sure about LGBT options in the game. I'll probably still not preorder either way - no more 'collector's editions.' They don't deserve the extra twenty bucks blindly.
I mean, I still preordered after ME3's endings and Inquisition's missteps, but what Andromeda did destroyed that trust.

I too am used to preordering everything they drop out since Mass Effect 3. I came to the party a bit late, but now I'm just over preorder and deluxe editions (that seem to always be shit now anyway). I'm ready for buying them on sale at this point. Unless they have some really verified good lgbt content-that appeals to me. That's why I play BioWare games, I mean the combat is nice sometimes-and the story is even good most of the time-but others do those things better. It's the romance that makes a BioWare game stand out.

My trust of Bioware is not as great as it used to be. No pre-order and actually I am not going to order it until I know some semblance of equal romance content is there. I agree. I hate to spoil the romances for myself, but I may do so just to make sure we got something worth buying. It's a sad reality that we have to be worried that there will be great options for us, unlike some other demographics. You know I wonder how I would feel if I know for quite sure that there will be great options for me.

Apparently the proper thing to do is to shit talk about how bad every little small detail is, and that our options are not "hot" enough.

If you had an abundance of options, you would be one of those hetero jerks who constantly bitches about LGB gamers "only caring about romance" instead of the "really important issues like framerate".
