I'm over the moon happy that Jaal's romance is as well done as it is. Aside from the obvious issues that he's so flirty with the females on board, it's clearly the most well done romance we've had in a BioWare game. So I'm happy with it. I hope in the future we can have romance options that don't flirt wildly with others though. I really personally don't see the appeal of it. I mean does anyone really want their love interest flirting with other people right in front of them? Is that a thing people like? I don't have a problem with it, flirting is harmless. I barely even recognise when it's happening, lol. But if Jaal is gonna flirt, he should also flirt with men. His only choices would be Liam and Drack. Liam isn't into guys and Drack is just a damn tease when you use the flirt option on him. Bastard never turns you down either. Just keeps you hanging.

Depends on the character; Zevran, Anders (early on anyway), Isabella, and Iron Bull were all openly flirtatious. Leliana and Sera less so, but they still made comments on finding other women (and sometimes men in Lelianaa's case) attractive. Sure, it would be nice for the player to be able to discuss flirting with other people with such paramours, but I suppose the writers considered it a minor issue to the overall word budget. Besides, you knew these people were flirts when you pursued them, did you honestly expect their personalities to do an instant 180 on one of their core characteristics simply for player entitlement? If you have issues with such openly flirtatious personalities, why did you chose them in the first place?

Jaal isn't really that way. At first he might seem like it, but it's basically when you choose to trigger the banter. If you don't take him and PeeBee everywhere, so they get the flirting out of their system early in the game, and Vetra too (who Jaal confesses to that he finds himself looking at PeeBee when she looks at him), then it won't trigger until you do, so if you are committed to Jaal and then decide to bring PeeBee or Vetra along and never did before, you'll get the flirt/interest banter and it'll look bad for Jaal lol same with talking to NPC's. I ignored Evfra through my first playthrough and after the game he was talking about things that happened months ago. The game was playing catch-up.

Because we dont have options? XD The fact Jaal is flirty and Lee doesnt like that doesnt mean that he doesnt like Jaal's personality lol Jaal is the only m/m character with good content and squadmate status, and personality wise is a dream for a lot of us with his sappy personality. I dont like Dorian as LI because he's not my type, and I like IB a lot, but I didnt like the fact he only talks about women, but I'm not ditching the character as whole because of that. Adoribull is well hidden and it doesnt count. Ps. I dont mind flirty characters tbh, what annoys me it's that always are bisexual men who do this and prefer women.

Liam was the best choice for bi from the beginning imo.

Liam was the best choice for bi from the beginning imo. Well, they were all in anyway so it could have been done. Personally I don't care since I'm not a fan of this whole thing, just saying there were other people available. Technically Kallo too. What makes you think Liam would have been better, out of curiosity? Meta-wise it wouldn't have addressed the problem of there not being an alien m/m option. One thing with Jaal being bi because of the reasons that makes me sad is they didn't do the same with Avela. Her and Sarah would be adorable together.

I think they are perfect together!

I noticed that too. Sometimes I think Jaal crushing on Avela and then meeting and falling for Ryder was because he likes those types. People who crave adventure and discovering new things.

I would have given Jaal romance a perfect score if he had not flirted so much to other female characters. So as soon as he starts flirting with them in Nomad, I stop the car and disembark lol.

I hardly ever take Peebee anywhere, so I've never had to listen to their banter. Jaal's remarks towards Vetra & Cora always struck me as more admiring than flirty, so I don't mind taking those 2 with him.
Also I hope the DA4 team takes a note (can't believe I'm saying this) from what the MEA team did in regards to making bi-Jaal's romances different for male/female. Different, but still equally good. No more copy paste!!!

As for Cora, he comes to love her like a sister, so I think they are fine too. PeeBee is the issue.

I have a feeling with having bisexual men openly flirting with men is considered too risky for Bioware since it might offend a certain demographic.

Banter is still the worst in DAI and MEA lol though I see nothing wrong with Jaal flirting with a guy, and I think they did the smart thing by removing his female only interest line, so that's a start!

Not to mention that (at least in my games) the game holds back on the banter that confirms their relationship if you still have the option of starting a romance with one or both of them - my last Inquisition run with both Dorian and Bull in the party, I was running without a romance active, and, despite never flirting with either of them, the game never activated the banter that indicated they were together. And since neither romance suits me (I can only take Dorian in small doses and I'm not comfortable with bondage), that means I'm never going to come across that dialogue so long as I play a gay Inquisitor.

Maybe it's different since females can't romance him. Maybe that's why I got the dialogue.

I didn't say it was that serious I just prefer if it wasn't a thing. Also as Nick said I don't have a lot of options. Almost all BioWare bi males are flirtatious almost exclusively with women sadly. The gay options are generally so poorly supported that you would be better off not romancing at all. So I have to go where the content is. For me I feel the Jaal flirtations are not as bad as Zevran and Iron Bull's anyway, so I can ignore most of it. I just wish that it wouldn't be an issue in nearly every game like it is.

Gosh, why would gay men who don't like flirts choose Zevran in DA:O? You know, I just can't figure it out. You'd think they had no other option.
