Okay, I didn't really say that his whole story revolves around being gay. I do think his romance really puts a lot of emphasis on the homosexuality, weirdly enough lol. See, look at the gay guys and their romances/stories so far that we've gotten from BW
1) Steve -> dead husband, getting over dead husband 2) Dorian -> daddy doesn't accept my sexuality 3) Gil -> lets become daddies and make it perfectly clear we cant have children without a third wheel
a lot of these stories put a lot of emphasis on the '' being gay '' thing, and especially Gil's seems so detached from the actual game and it's plot that it's almost weird and out of place. A lot of the times, these characters do seem like they are gay first, characters later, whether it comes to their story or their romance. I know I'm picky, but it's also why I seem to gravitate more towards bisexual males in BW games, because there is none of that gay profiling in their story or romance.
By all means, love Gil, his story, his romance, everything about him. I'm not very into him and some of his romance weirds me out. Dude, yes, this. In the space of one game he goes from a rakeish 'I take it as it comes, I don't settle down, I just do' to 'let's have a kid and be a big gay family with my hag, 22 year old guy I've started dating!' It's just...bizarre tonally when in context of the Mass Effect series. When I watched the 'let's have a kid' scene I had to double take. Like they skipped a game's worth of development lul

No bi Jaal mod for me, I passed through enough angst with my Warden and the inevitable US, and bi Cullen mod. So no more. No more headcanon for me. I haven't played Skyrim and I heard that you can marry lizard men, the nearest thing to an alien in my books so... It's in my to do list Just a heads up TES is more about world building than plot or characterization. I love the series but realize you have to write your own stories in your head. Most of the love interests are blank slates for the romance who will marry you after doing a quest or two for them, and you have to imagine how the romance plays out. Even the ones with more personality have less than the 'flings' of the ME universe. I'm not bashing TES. I just don't want you going in not realizing TES takes the "role playing" aspect to the extreme of the player filling in the blanks. Also, with mods (at least for PC) you can romance Khajiit (cat people) too. It's curious you can't in the vanilla game, it's probably either due to time constraints making the game or due to running out of space on the Xbox 360, which at the time reserved a huge chunk of the DVD for Microsoft OS stuff and couldn't require HDD installs since not all Xbox 360 models had one. Thanks for the heads up! Yeah I know TES romances are anecdotic so no harm done there totally gonna mod my game for those cat people, the furrier the merrier One user here (goldfish memory) told me that if you are man can marry a female werewolf but not the other way around, that's sucks, but cloooose too close to my wishlist for DA4 :heh:

Lets just hope the Secret IP team is more in line with the DA peeps, and not Montreal. I want to stay a Bioware-Fan, and not downgrade to just a Dragon Age-Fan. Secret IP is not even RPG (well, many would say none of modern Bioware games are RPGs but you get the point) and Bioware already confirmed it and called it an action game lol

Since this got brought up:
I've said it before, but I don't hate the Asari. They aren't one of my favorite races, but I don't hate them. They have an interesting culture and Samara is one of my favorite characters in the series. I liked her offering another side of their race and culture. Plus, she was a badass in combat. Get her set up right and kiss the game difficulty goodbye.
What I am is sick of them. I'm sick of being told that I have to find them hot because one of the devs says so. I'm tired of them being mostly very sexualized. I did not need to hear the slang for their vaginas, as an example. Seriously never saw the point of that. I'm sick of being told how wise and powerful and ancient they are. I'm sick of most of the NPCs being bitches, and I'm making a list of them since I'm replaying the MET before I play ME:A. Lexi and Peebee will probably be alright because they are a part of the crew.
Otherwise, get ready for more condescending NPCs treating the main character like a child because they don't live to be 1000 years old with massive breasts.

Yeah and I thought that Jaal wasn't straight. I still don't believe that they will do a good NPC. The ME:A team did very bad things to my trust here. Involved in the plot probably = She'll give you a few major quests. Have some cute lines and almost never have any new dialogue. Maybe she'll even have one cut-scene all to herself, just like Samantha did in ME3! Ooh, maybe two? I do not expect anywhere near the same level of quality as Josie or Cullen at this point. I'll be happy if I'm wrong, but so far, the ME:A team has shown that they love to take steps backward. Then look around and wonder why the fans are furious. Hell, I'm furious and I've never been the type to be an angry fan. For those that think I'm not acting like my usual self, you're right. Most of the time I try to stay upbeat and calm. It takes a lot to make me this angry and frustrated. It takes a lot, and seeing the gay/bi men that had their faith in the company has done it. For the first time in 5 years, EA-BioWare has managed to do just that. Edit: Typo Haha, i know right? Im a primo Bioware apologist, always have been, and despite not really being interested in m/m content myself, i have been getting slowly but surely angrier ever since the announcement. Ever since the review scores dropped i have been afraid that ME may be dead in the water, but i actually dont care anymore. Maybe if they shelve Mass Effect theyll revive Jade Empire, who knows. Lets just hope the Secret IP team is more in line with the DA peeps, and not Montreal. I want to stay a Bioware-Fan, and not downgrade to just a Dragon Age-Fan. Gurl. I legit google 'Jade Empire 2 news' every month. Let's just go with that, Bioware.

Do I have to resort to fanfiction? Like, I almost wrote M!Shep/Garrus back in the day because otherwise it didn't exist, but I want characters to be accurate to their own personality and I felt I could never do Garrus justice. So am I going to have to do that for Jaal now too? Yeeeeep. Welcome to the world of fanfiction. It exists because it has to. Because the best stories don't get written! So we do it for them. I can bet they would have more high quality than Bioware's writing. I feel sorry for Cait. She's a raider, but even she didn't deserve this kind of writing.

It didn't say anything conclusive, since the dataminers couldn't find much of his code, but also the info from that was wrong about Jaal, so. lol I think he's probably a full romance. If he's not, jeez, I guess m/m is screwed even more than the "two options" we've been quoting. I think he probably is, though. He looks to have as much or more content than Gil. Eh, I don't really know. It sounds like he never leaves the planet so he seems way too walled off form the rest of the game. I also watched the ending and he's nowhere to be found sooooooo... Unfortunately, that's pretty true. I have a high confidence it's not a forced breakup unless certain choices are made, but I don't know the details of his quest yet, which is also concerning. I think Reyes probably has a better "in world story" than Gil, but Gil is more embedded in the main group. But we got two options that are, imo, just really removed from the plot and light on content. It sucks either way.

Prince, I get that you are upset about Jaal. We all are, but there really is no need to constantly drag poor Gil through the dirt because of it. Hun, I watched Gil's romance. I will probably like him. He seems sweet and a nice guy. But I think he is a token character, and a half assed effort on BioWare's part. Well, I have not (so my response to this is limited) because I have wanted to keep this game a surprise, and I've done a pretty good job so far avoiding spoilers. Nothing personal, dear. I just get protective of my ginger teddy bear.

I'd also like to bring the fact they made straight squadmate's romance literally the best - both with the equality and lenght. Just look at this (and I'm quoting myself from Cora's topic):
Someone posted those pannels with lists about LIs. I've counted positions on them and it goes:
teammates: Cora 15 PB 10 Vetra 10 Liam 9 Jaal 8
others: Reyes 14 Suvi 6 Gil 5 Avela 4
Not in all of them you have flirt options, that's true. But it looks like this is how many times you'll find new dialogue options with them.
The only real "rival" to Cora is Reyes with 14 positions, but he's not a part of the team.

Ah, so this tweet was read by me out of context (didn't see the whole thread with M.Gamble you had on twitter). Still, this single tweet page REALLY got me confused I was talking to Gamble and other fans about a recent article that declared some romances straight and how upset the community was by this backwards move. For example, the article said Liam was 100% straight and said a "No homo" statement to broRyder, and the player seemed convinced with no evidence that Jaal was open to both Ryders, which goes against previous leaks and just was confusing everyone. The set of tweets were mainly about having an m/m squadmate and how important it is since f/f and f/m squadmates are available. We asked for clarification and received none because, well, that's how the devs operate. You know, I was attacked once by a horde of angry people (mostly fans of Dragon Age) after stating gay and straight people had to to have mutual respect. Just because I used the term homo - which, in my native idiom ISN'T OFFENSIVE -, they lashed out at me as if I were a male aggressor or something. How could I be a male aggressor if I'm a woman and a survivor of 18 years of domestic violence? And some of those people were not even gay. They were hetero women. In a traditional hetero marriage. Without any experience of a gay relationship. Wanting to teach me a lesson on how to talk about LGBT rights. Here in my country, it's normal to say you're homo if you're gay, man or woman. Homosexuals call themselves homo and expect heteros to call them like that as well. That's when I realized some people were using the LGBT movement and feminism to play the victim card whenever it was convenient. Such as to verbally abuse people who didn't share their ideas or who disagreed with them. I mean, assaulting a person because of one word? Which isn't even offensive in their culture? Someone who dealt with domestic violence for years? Whose country has one of the highest rates of murder commited against women by their husbands? Seriously? A pity that's what the minority rights movements became. Back in the 60s, women didn't victimise themselves. There wasn't any of this "safe space" talk or speeches like "all males are potential sexual aggressors". Women didn't hate men. What they wanted was simply to be treated as an equal within the marriage, in work environments and other social arenas. They fought back against the patriarchy by working hard, demanding the fulfillment of their rights as described in the Constitution. Their efforts created new possibilities for future generations. The first feminists would hear an insult from a conservative man, shrug it off and dismiss it with a clever remark. Simply because she needed no validation from anyone. She owned herself. Nowadays, it's all about "I'm a victim, you can't call me by certain names or you're hostilizing me/you're an aggressor driven by patriarchal values/you're a rapist/nazi/whatever".
I don't know. I didn't learn to be a feminist by insulting and persecuting people who had a different system of belief. I learned that being a feminist was about enlightening yourself, studying the philosophy behind the movement, coming to understand and identify the patriarchal values ingrained in our society and learning how to deconstruct those values within yourself.
It was about fighting for social rights, such as the right to vote, ending gender segregation at work and in academic spaces, educating your children to respect both genders, defending other women AND MEN against the harm done by a patriarchal society, not complaining about being oppressed every five minutes, hating men and/or heterosexuals and persecuting anyone who disagreed with my ideology.

I guess I'll just add this to my list of "things that don't exactly fill me with confidence that the crew options are as important as the squad" And can someone explain the difference between "Culminates in unique friendship, opening unique content, with additional option for exclusivity" and "Culminates in exclusive romance", please?

Well, he's been playing for 16 hours now as his savefile states. He's not "complete all fetchquests" guy but tries to do most things and also is pretty slow - can just walk around for 30 minutes straight. And he's already done with Kadara. I think you can have "oooh, 100+ hours of gameplay" - if you set your goal to have 100% viability on all 5 planets and to scan every single shit. *disgusted noise* I'll put my rant under the spoiler just in case - nothing major is "spoiled", but some things regarding "how it feels" are said and I have to mention how things happen. I'm salty, but not enough to just throw some random shit at game. But it seriously looks like "very early build" from the looks of it in the best case. Not regarding graphics (even if I still don't get why 2016 footage had better graphics, better light, better animations, better basically everything) - I'm talking about their plot. Like... it was one big beautiful picture and then somebody used too much scissors on it. You arrive at Aya, everything looks nice and plot-ey... for the first 5 seconds. Angara even speak angaran. Then suddenly, without any explanation given, they start to understand you and you start to understand them (btw, they said "we will explain how you can understand them" but this has yet to happen in bf's game - it was explained regarding kett and remnants, but not about angara and SAM is silent about it too). Angara lady leads you to resistance quarters, nobody likes you, nobody knows you. And then boom - everybody is suddenly asking for your assistance, everybody is talking to you, angara peeps on other planets, even ones without any methods of communication somehow know you are the human pathfinder. One moment they talk like you're an alien, invader, nobody knows shit about you and the next second everybody suddenly know who humans are. Not explained yet too and I think it's a bit too late now with Kadara almost finished and being after Aya happens. And things like this happen on a constant basis - something looks like "yes, finally, logical things happening" and then it's gone. Everything switches to completely another state with no explanation. This looks really bad.

The negative reviews now can't be attributed to SJW, considered how the sexual minorities are being treated by this game. The lesson here is, people don't hate Bioware games because of those yucky queers, they hate it because Bioware games' quality has fallen.
They decide to go for open world now, and the game's plot is very short, most of the time, it will be random side quest that make it long.

Pffffftttt the fact that positions are changed and dependent on whether you are human or elf is better than anything ME ever did. And I saw Morrigan... questioned my sexuality there for a sec... gunna be so hard to choose, it's like ME2 all over again where I have to stay single for Kaidan in ME3, but Yvonne/Miranda is like one of the only woman I'd go straight for fml
