Because as i said in this thread earlier, Broryder and Sisryder work, add to that I can also say Dadryder and Momryder makes it even better. What do you have for advantage over that? They work in a very boring way. All you did was mash their sibling relationship onto their last name, it lacks elegance. And we don't need to give nicknames to minor characters. If there last name was McKenzie I would definitely allow Father Mckenzie though. Someone that has the name "Taliwacker" and want to call the Ryder siblings Rydhim/Rydher, don't have anything to say about naming sense........ And your names only mash their sex with their name, not much more elegant. And it works because it is simple and easy. And the fact is that the parents are still the parents, we don't know how much they are going to be involved in the story. So having to call them Alec and Elen(?) is just more work than Dadryder and Momryder.

Why will Sara and Scott do? Explain it in a way that refutes the reason I specifically said those names would not. Because everyone playing male will have Sara in the game and everyone that plays female will have Scott in the game. Because of tailored dialogue I think quite some people will play with those names as their main too. These names will be a lot more established than John and Jane. They're even the official names of the pop/action figures. And who knows, the official names in books and comics.

The proper way to refer to your player character with gender specificity. Sara and Scott don't work outside of pre-established Mass Effect conversations. Just like I can't throw "John" out there in a regular conversation and expect people to know what the hell I am talking about. Not even in a conversation about a male protaganist in sci-fi shooters in a galaxy ruled by a multi species conglomerate. John Shepard, John-117? Please specify. Plus RydHer/RydHim throws banging into the name. Banging in a game where most people seem concerned about nothing more than who you will be able to bang. I thought we settled this ages ago - the accepted nomenclatures are Rybro and Rysis, as well as BroDer and SisDer.

Well as everyone else is posting what they use I used BroRyder, FemRyder/SisRyder and RyDad. This was back when I saw the first trailer and wrote a joke fanfic on AO3. Now I just tend to use Sarah and Scott, if people get confused I reference Ryder and ME:A.

Providing that a lot of people misspell Sara's name as Sarah, it bothers me.
The complicated scheme of having your named brother and sister in your game, while in the other game you can rename and customize that character is not to my liking, so I just going to disconnect Sara-as-a-sister of a M!Ryder and Scott-as-a-brother of a F!Ryder from the idea of the potential protagonist.
This is why I specifically do not want to use Sara and Scott as an alternative way to say "the protagonist", and keep it reserved specifically as an NPC name.
Because if I use it as a protagonist name, it would be like playing Tali or Thane Shepard.

Sarah is spelt with an H. Bad Bioware changing their minds! I know I'm confused too, so I'm using Sarah for the time being but I half expect in the game for it to be Sara again

Providing that a lot of people misspell Sara's name as Sarah, it bothers me. Tharan and Theron drove me to distraction even before they added Theron in SWTOR (which made it even better). I do not want a repeat in MEA. And if BioWARE cannot decide itself which spelling they prefer, that's going to be really, really bad.
