Christ this brings back all the memories. What a beautiful car crash the Kinkquisition thread was Yeah, but DK is right, it was interesting while it lasted, but times change, and really I'm too old for all that. Glad you're back though, mr. turtle king. Yep there was a time and a place for that thread and it burned into the ground from what I recall. At the end of the day this is a forum full of BioWare fans, it’s no surprise any thread with a hint of smut about it got out of hand. That DragonKing fella (the undisputed ringleader of the Kinkquisition btw) with his Kermit the frog puppet really took it to the next level. I have a question for the ladies; What is your opinion on men who prefer to let the woman initiate interest in a romantic relationship? Do you find it cute? Odd? Or do you deep down prefer to be the one being pursued romantically? Thoughts?

As for your question: I would suppose it depends if interest on both sides have been established. It's always difficult to decipher whether or not your attentions are welcome, be you a man or a woman. For the most part, we are not mind readers, but if the interest is there, and there's an understanding in the relationship of who the desired initiator should be, I don't think there's any problems with it. I've been both and found both roles fun, I DO think that it's better when there's a variety because a lot can depend on the moods you're in.

I mean, it shouldn't really matter who asks who, right?

Like giving up your seat for a woman on the bus if there’s none left, I don’t sit and ponder about how sexist it could be I just do it. I only ask because I’m curious and of the few people I have asked about this in the past, they don’t find it attractive in a man that would rather leave the woman to initiate romantic interest. I wonder if they link to shyness or something who knows. Mind you these girls were off their heads, they’d probably eat a man like that for breakfast.

I'm of the mindset that if you're going to do something to be polite to one group of people, you should extend that same courtesy to every, if possible. Then again, as someone who is extremely unlikely to initiate a romantic relationship, maybe it doesn't really matter in my case? Also, from what I've heard, in the UK it's much more socially acceptable for women to ask men out, though I don't know how true that is.

As a chick, I don't find it unattractive in a guy at all, in fact I find a certain amount of reserved shyness kind of adorable. It just made things easier for a guy to ask me out because I was always really quiet myself. Anyway it's something that takes courage to do, rejection hurts, so I feel for guys in this area honestly. I don't even like to be the one doing the rejecting, that pains me. As quiet as I am I asked my boyfriend out though When he came out here from Germany, I heard through our circle of friends that he liked me but would never just ask me out.. I mean really, we hung out a lot together and had some nice in depth conversations until two in the morning, only for him to leave at the end and give me a hug :'(. I had to do something about it. Luckily for me he was relieved and I wasn't given a lets just be friends speech. Although I'm not sure how brave I would've been if friends didn't let me know he liked me. <.<

But my problem is that if he doesn't ask me out, I won't. And not because "the man has to ask out bla bla bla"; just because I am quite shy myself.

Also, from what I've heard, in the UK it's much more socially acceptable for women to ask men out, though I don't know how true that is. Yeah I wouldn’t say it’s frowned upon here, it definitely can happen both ways. I still think in certain circles there’s an underlying expectation that it’s up to the ‘lad’ to initiate an interest or at the very least do most of the pursuit, but if you don’t hang around those kind of people it will probably be a non issue. Like the example with the poster below, that will no doubt be a common thing up and down the country (and others too).

Just kidding, glad one of you said something! One of my friends in college really liked a girl and we all knew she liked him but they were both too chicken to ask each other out. In the end the girl moved on with some dickhead who did ask and he was devastated. They would have been a good couple too I think, real sad it didn’t work out for them.
Oh well, didn’t work out for me either cos she left me a year later for one of her friends. Oops

Just a little fyi, that little bit at the end of my story wasn’t true, it was not me that stole my friends soulmate from under him. That’s bad form, don’t do that. Don’t be bad.

Or do you deep down prefer to be the one being pursued romantically? Thoughts? I don't think a guy needs to be the one to take the risk. For me personally it would depend on the personality of the other person, I am happy to be pursued or to pursue. My ex boyfriends all asked me out, my wife and I had a long, mutual courtship, each pining away and oblivious to the other's interests. I eventually found my spine and asked her out, would still have done so if she was a guy and wouldn't have found it strange, cute, interesting or noteworthy. I have female friends who would never ask a guy they like out and I think that's a shame and a waste.

Not just no, but hell no.
This board very much needs to stay within Proboards' rules.

Well, it's largely due to how along with being ignored, rejection is one of those things women REALLY don't like. Otherwise it isn't much of an issue, as if a girl's asking you out then you just have to run "don't fuck up" game. Well, men don’t like it either. But socially awkward and anxious men like me have to make peace with the fact that we have to make the first move or no moves will be made at all. Just remember that asking a girl out is fairly mundane and innocuous thing. It's not like one's declaring their undying love for them or asking them to be bent over a counter, so as long as a guy doesn't take it personal and get assmad, or asks out a girl showing clear disinterest and/or during an inappropriate occasion, then getting turned down is no big deal. I don't get phased when I've gotten turned down and managed to even maintain good relations with the girls in question after the fact.

Oh but what about the good old As someone born and raised in the UK, this seems legit. It’s FAKE NEWS, he was actually trying to butter a crumpet. Plus it’s not like he was just arrested for wielding a butter knife, he also didn’t apply for a porn license. Shame on you Shadow for spreading such misinformation
