aumkaI've actually found it challenging to RP a poor fighter in combat scenes, so I get what you're saying. I play an adenturing Dwarf elsewhere that is more likely to sneak around or run from danger than directly oppose it. So, with that history, she can't one shot or even three shot a baddie. But she can sneak, distract, and run as she picks locks into ancient ruins and can read a few languages. Then sells what she finds with her excellent haggling skills. But now she's in direct combat with a hand full of battle hardened veterans. So they're all killing crap and she's all like, "umm,I didn't die? I helped a little?"

Quick question or two - What will the posting order be and are we still loosey-goosey until we arrive at the Chantry?
Is Inquisitor Lavellan male or female? It'll be nice to know whether to refer to them as he or she, if it comes up.
Does Velun have an alienage? Or is it too small and the elves roughly congregate in a poorer neighborhood?
I've been toying with this idea for Thene. She doesn't have many friends, but I've been thinking that in her travels she might have met Sera or another Friend. She wouldn't be a Friend herself, but I'm thinking that Sera is somebody she thinks of as not being as crappy as other people (what other's consider a friend). All this would be part of her backstory. What do you guys think? Then it might give us a tool later if, as the story progresses, we decide we need to send a message to the Inquisitor. I'm not anticipating that, just throwing it out there. When I write fanfic, I like to think of things I might do so I can drop hint whispers, even if I decide later not to take that route. It annoys me in a mystery when the solution is based on something the reader never had a chance to find out. The hint whisper might be as insubstantial as a fleeting expression, a memory/dream fragment, etc.
So, four questions, not one or two. That's not bad, is it? Oh, wait, that's five . . . I'll stop now.
Oh, and Phoray, I hear you . . . I'm positive I suck as much writing combat scenes as I do playing them.

I have played with the idea of Helen having contact with Red Jenny. Of course, they would be enemies rather than allies. Both parties would probably try to trick the other into revealing information.

Thanks, @tzeenchianapostrophe, for your input. I hadn't really thought of whether major/existing characters would be used in RP, makes sense. Would make a funny RP if each person was a different Inquisitor, wouldn't it? Anyway, at most I'll use Sera sparingly as memory flashback or something to flesh out Thene's character if I use her at all. dragontartare, have you decided whether Lavellan is male or female? And, in your opinion, does Velun have an alienage or do the elves simply band more or less together in a poorer section of town?

Oh? Interesting . . . As history or part of this story? Never mind, don't want you to reveal your secrets, . I have no plans of including it in the story, atm. Helen is a bard. The friends are like bars, except the friends work for the common people and bards work for the nobility. Helen has likely heard of the group and may be aware of some of their members and deaddrops. I haven't giving it a lot of thought. If Thene revealed herself to be a member of Red Jenny, it would technically make her and Helen enemies. Not that Helen would attack Thene or anything, but she would certainly watch her. Of course, Helen's main loyalties is to her patron, not the nobility in general.

My dwarf on the other site knows Varric's cousin, Thorold, but she has never personally met the story teller herself. I find this an acceptable distance from canon characters.

I would be ok with your character knowing Sera a bit, just not best buddies or anything. I think it's better if our characters don't get too chummy with canon characters...could get messy. Velun is a small town and would not have an alienage. If there are resident elves, they would likely just live in poorer homes, or even as servants in wealthier households. I don't think we established a gender for Lavellan, just that he/she is a mage. Were you wanting to mention the Inquisitor somehow?

dragontartare, um, not so much a specific reference but if we mention something the Inquisitor did, such as close the Breach, it would be nice to refer to him/her. For example, "I was traveling near Redcliffe. Good thing the Inquisitor was able to close those rifts. I hate to think what the area would be like if he hadn't been around." or 'she'. I don't really care one way or the other, it's just something that occurred to me. *sigh* that's me, too many thoughts scrambling around my poor brain trying to get my attention. Hey, Helen, Thene isn't a Red Jenny but she's gonna be watching you . . . muwahahaha. Sorry, Morrigan, couldn't resist. Thene will be watching everybody, the untrusting little soul.

Her face in particular is pale as though she lived most of her life indoors (which is fairly accurate). Elaith's possesses an athletic build making a bit bigger than an typical City Elf but on par with Dalish with a fair bit of scars from her scraps as a mercenary. Her hands are hardened, full of callouses from years of training with a sword and a bow. Elaith's mouth somewhat thin and slightly crooked. She wears ancient Dalish armor that was given to her by her father when Elaith turned 18 along with Dalish greives and boots. Her weapon of choice is the longbow: Telanadas meaning nothing is inevitable in the Elhven language and her longsword: Girl's best friend which is a Silverite long sword. Also wears a Dalish tiara of some kind which found while scavenging an Dalish ruin. Personality: At first glance Elaith may look like an innocent and delicate Elf, but it only belies her fiery demeanor. Elaith is stubborn, strong-willed and has a short temper. Described as a "wild thing" by observers, Elaith is brash and confident in her abilities to the point where she'll charge head on when others will not. This unpredictable behavior often gets her in trouble with others and more often than not, Elaith gets into fights with mercenaries and clients. Despite it all, Elaith is a caring figure who will risk her life to help the helpless especially her own kind. She admires friendship, but her volatile and stubborn personality may wear thin on those who are impatient so she is often alone. Elaith enjoys hunting, drinking, fighting and cursing (XD), however she does have a soft side and is fond of flowers and jewelry. Elaith also likes sewing something she got from her mother. Skills/Abilities/Weapons/Powers:Trained by her father (and self taught.) Elaith fighting style is strong fast and pragmatic. She relies mostly on her bow, but is willing to use her Longsword if necessary. Elaith is a capable hand to hand combatant who is not above dirty tricks meaning expect a lot of groin attacks! XD However Elaith is reckless and possesses a weak defense which more capable warriors use to their advantage. Telanadas

Fed up with the racism, Elaith's father took her out of the alienage where she spent most of her life traveling from village to village. Elaith's father taught her about the Dalish and the Elven gods and some of the Elven language, in addition he taught her how to fight and how to hunt. Though Elaith loved her father, she ultimately disagreed with his views of the Shemlen, considering how she easily made friends with the children (though she endured racial slurs from the adults.). When Elaith turned 18, she left her father in search for an adventure and has been traveling ever since. Well done. You've taken the old RPG character sheet and made it your own. I'm going to use your template because it's exemplary.

It is rumored that Adeline maintains her youthful appearance through the use of magic. Adeline is described to have shoulder length brown hair, brown skin and eyes. She dislikes shoes due to its discomfort and one time as a girl, she sustained a nasty fungal growth causing her to swear off wearing shoes despite the Templars insistence to wear shoes at all times in the Circle, preferring to walk barefoot. Adeline's outfit is what appear to be made together out of various pieces of clothing by merchants while she was on the run from the Circle. It is a very low cut brown dress which show off her "ample assets" (XD), the clothing also shows off her legs (shown in the link below) while her arms are covered by dark brown separate sleeves. The clothing overall is held together by a light brown belt and thick green string. (A visual look below) Adeline wears a necklace pendant, given to her best friend before her death to the Templar. It is simple in design: A flat, smooth golden circle with red engravings that still remain a mystery to Adeline. Her friend Lia was going to tell her about its origins before her death. pre00.deviantart.net/b9de/th/pre/f/2015/269/4/c/corinne_tilly_4k_by_millianalennie-d9b1x9h.jpg (Legs) millianamoonwalll.deviantart.com/art/Corinne-Tilly-4K-562556178 (Entire attire I'll get a better screenshot of this for future RPs) Played By: Well I consider myself the lone fan of Corinne Tilly considering this is largely based off her so yeah we'll go with Corinne! XD Personality: A kind-hearted and intelligent woman, Adeline is an apostate uses her magic to help the sick and protect the innocent. While somewhat frustrated at the feeling that she could use her powers to help the people of Theadas rather than simple villagers; Adeline nevertheless enjoys the fact that at least she can help some people while hiding from the Templars. Adeline is pensive and likes to write in her journals, detailing her time in the fade and coming up with theories of magic. Adeline believes that people are scratching the surface of magic and that its true potential has yet to be unlocked. While she is a follower of Adraste's teachings and the Maker, Adeline blames the Chantry for holding mages back and thinks that Templars are drunk with power, often getting away with murder and other countless crimes going back to the time when she witnessed drunk Templars murdering her friend Lia because they felt that she was possessed by a demon. Adeline wants to dismantle the Chantry and reform to where it is friendlier to mages. She understands though, that not all of the people of the Chantry are bad considering she's made friends with a lot of sisters (and Mother Bella is the closest person she has to a mother) Adeline struggles with her desire to seek vengence against the Templars and corrupt churches and trying to prove that magic is something to be respected not feared. Adeline is always calm under pressure, rarely losing her cool and is supportive of the people close to her. When not helping the local village, Adeline loves to dream and explore the fade communicating with many spirits and learning ancient magic. She also likes fortune telling and dream interpretation and never misses a chance to sit down and enjoy a nice herbal tea while taking in the peaceful tranquility of the forest. Skills/Abilities/Weapons/Powers: Aside from learning the basics of magic in the Circle, Adeline trained herself in Fade Magic in her dreams. While she's skilled in melee with her staff, the use of other weapons escape her. Adeline first discovered that she had magic abilities when she was 5 years old, setting a boy's hair on fire when he was teasing her. It was then Adeline was taken to Kinoch Hold, Ferelden's Circle for training. Druing her time to in the circle, Adeline often went to her room and dream about the fade where interacted with the spirits and explore vast and mysterious dreamworld. Adeline didn't make many friends, she was a shy child, who didn't speak much. The only person she would talk to, was Mother Bella who taught Adeline the Chant of Light and always gave her cookies. Adeline looked up to Bella and wanted to Chantry sister when she grew up. Adeline eventually made friends with an Elven girl named Lia, who came to the Cricle a year after her. They became close and Adeline took Lia under her wing to study magic. Adeline excelled in her studies, becoming a top mage prospect. One night after her 18th birthday Adeline heard rumors about the Harrowing from a mage who just passed his. He said that the First Enchanter and Knight Commander randomly chooses a person whom they feel is ready and the candidate enters the fade from the use of Lyrium. It is then that the First Enchanter summons a demon that tries to posses them. If the succeeds then they are a mage, if not then they are struck down by Templars. The Mage then said that Lia and Adeline were next for testing. Fearing for that that she could lose her friend, Adeline went to sleep and entered the fade. It was in there, she convinced a spirit to masqurade as a demon on the day of hers and Lia's harrowing that way it can be an easy kill and both of them will not be possessed. The spirit agreed and on the day of their harrowing the spirit became a demon who was slain by Adeline and Lia. Adeline never told Lia about the pack she made with the spirit. She was glad that her friend was alive, but Adeline felt a pang of guilt, when Lia told her that she overcame the demon all by herself and that she felt stronger for it. Afterwards, Lia gave Adeline a necklace, that she made in her time in the Circle as thank you gift for teaching helping her gain enough power to pass the Harrowing. This guilt intensified within Adeline, but she rationalized the fact that her friend is safe and an apprentice mage. When Adeline was 20 she was busy in the library putting books away, until she witnessed Lia being harassed by drunken Templars. They accused her, of being a demon, which Lia denied It was then that the Templars cut her down. Adeline was in disbelief, feeling helpless that she couldn't assist her friend. The Templars then turned to Adeline and before she could do something, used their powers to suck her magic away and knock her out. Adeline awoke in the First Enchanter's office, where the same Templars who killed her friend were accusing her of killing Lia. The First Enchanter didn't believe them, but the Templars insisted that Knight-Commander is calling for Adeline's head and that they have proof. Adeline tried to refute the claims, but the Knight-Commander and the Templars managed to pull off a convincing lie that put Adeline at the scene of the crime. The Knight-Commander sentenced Adeline to death. On the night of her execution, Mother Bella came to Adeline's dungeon with food and supplies insisting that she must escape the Circle and that she destroyed Adeline's phylactery. Hesitantly, Adeline accepts and she fled the Circle to parts unknown. Not knowing where to go, Adeline went from town to town, resorting to theft in order to feed herself. One day, Adeline came across a village in the forest, that was being attacked by Darkspawn. Without hesistation, Adeline used her magic to defeat the Darkspawn and heal the wounded. The villagers grateful for her help, elected her a "village witch" and promised to never sell her to the Templars. It was then Adeline settled down and watched over the village in the forest in the years to come. Well done. Unh! Nice.

Rift Mage (Veilstrike, Stonefist, Restorative Veil, Pull of the Abyss) Heal, Chaotic Focus, Barrier, Revive, Fade step, Static Cage, Regenerate, Rejuvenate. Staff: Dreamcatcher +16 Spirit Damage +9% Attack +32% Barrier Damage Bonus +16% Guard Damage Bonus +18 Magic Masterwork Inscribed Staff Grip Archmage Staff Blade Master Spirit Rune History: Adeline Linet was born in Denerim, immediately after she was born Adeline's mother sent her to the orphanage for unknown reasons. Well done. Unh! Nice. Thanks! But be sure to use our format but feel free to use elements from this

Síne's magic powers manifested when she was a child, but because she lived in an alienage, she was not discovered and brought to the circle before she was a teenager. In the circle, she befriended a fellow apprentice named Helen. Helen taught Síne stories about the Dalish. The two young girls often amused themselves by painting their faces in the fashion of Dalish Vallaslin. Helen’s enthusiastic storytelling inspired Síne to seek out the Dalish during the mage rebellion. After many long weeks of rough travel, she managed to track down a clan. It came as a great shock to Síne that the Dalish were unwilling to allow a flat-eared mage to join them. The Dalish were not as romantic as her old friend had made them out to be. Síne spent the next years living on the road. Sometimes she travelled alone and sometimes she found company among refugees, bandits or her fellow apostates. One of her travelling companions taught her the secrets of blood magic, which greatly augmented her powers. Síne and Helen reunited in Val Royeaux sometime after the Exalted Council. However, their friendship came to an abrupt end after Helen betrayed Síne to a group of Red Templars to save her own skin. Síne's personality has changed dramatically during her years on the road. The shy girl has grown into a bull-headed young woman. Her continued survival despite the odds has made her reckless. A part of her wishes she could settle down and lead a normal life, but deep down she realises that she has adapted to her circumstances all to well. There is no way back to who she was. All she can do is go forward and try to carve a place for herself in a dangerous and uncaring world. (Just realised this had ended up in the wrong thread.)

Character Name: EllainyaFemale Dalish Elf Mage Age: 19 She is small, at 5ft, even for an elf. She has a petite but athletic build. She has blond hair and green eyes. She has the simple version of a Mythal vallaslin. There is a scar across the left side of her mouth from a fall as a child. She came into her magic late in life. The first of her clan had only begun to teach her some spells when the mage rebellions broke out. It didn’t leave her with a lot of time to train. As the Keeper had told her, she had a natural affinity for healing. So, they focused what training they could on healing and barriers. She didn’t like offensive spells and lacked control and patience when trying. After one incident of singed hair, she did not try again. There were many skirmishes breaking out close to the clan so Ellainya was given a staff by their Keeper. With what little training she had, she was quite helpful in keeping others safe and healing when necessary. Ellainya would often wander. She was always curious about humans but had not spoken to one before. She would often observe a nearby village from a distance. She met a young human farm boy on one of her explorations. The young boy was looking for a lost goat. She helped him and they became fast friends. She began returning most days to visit him. She fell in love with the young boy and decided to stay behind when it was time for her clan to move on. The farm boy was killed by bandits soon after. With a broken heart and no clan, she is now on a quest to find her place in the world. Ellainya has spent her whole life in Ferelden but decided it was time to explore more of Thedas. Specialization: Healing Skills: Healing, Barrier, Dispel, Revival

She has spent most of her life in the underbelly of cities and has seen the worst people have to offer. When the rebellions broke out, she was happy to use her skills to make money freelancing as a mercenary and stealing from nobles. Kailyn doesn't stay in one place too long for fear of her past coming back to haunt her.

Name: "Armaas" Race: unknown parentage but human appearance Gender: Male, but when dealing with Qunari presents as female since much of his work is seen as a woman's role to them. He doesnt see it as a big deal. Faction/role: Craftsman, armorer, tailor, artificer, sometimes traveling merchant.
Seheron. The battleground state of absolutely constant war for control by the Tevinter Imperium, the Qunari, and the native fog warrior rebels. Living here you are expected to either pick a side and fight or keep your head down and let the armies and magisters march through, enslaving or converting you as they see fit. But the one the qunari have dubbed "Armaas" was so talented at crafting of all sorts that all three sides came to respect his work.
when tevinter ruled, he explained to them exactly the conditions he neded to craft their fine robes, staves, and the frames for their magical contraptions.
when the qun ruled he persuaded them that he could only create the fine weapons and armor that would best serve the mission of the qun if he could keep his lifestyle relatively unchanged.
and when the fog rolled in and the fog warriors took over he would design stealthy leather armor and camoflauge in return for their support and protection.
So even as war and chaos was waged all around him he led a relatively safe and peaceful life honing his craft. Currently Seheron is controlled by the Qunari, and with their permission he has been allowed to travel far and wide, even to lands that do not know the qun's "enlightenment" in search of the materials he needs for his various projects and designs!

 | Durk Race: Dwarf Gender male Faction/role: Shields of Amgarrak Mercenary leader Character App
|
Appearance: Durk is about 5'2 inches tall, he has a scruffy light brown beard, with a touch of grey speckled in. His blue eyes are barely visible through his bushy eyebrows. When out and about he wears a leather coat and floppy black hat, adorned with green feathers. He carries a crossbow on his back when adventuring, and a pair of swords on his belt. He is about 45 years old, but looks younger. Personality: Durk has a reputation for being a rowdy drunkard. he can often be found in the local tavern acting the fool and bothering the other patrons. This is an act however. He is actually a very shrewd businessman and accomplished warrior, having risen in the Provings while in Orzammar, almost to Champion a couple of years. When he lets his real personality show through he is dour and serious when he has to be. he is not unfriendly, but he keeps his cards to his chest as to who he really is. He takes no nonsense, and will disabuse anyone of his drunk status, given sufficient reason to, by straightening them out on who they are really dealing with. He loves a good game of wicked grace, often winning by acting the drunk fool to those who don't know him. Skills: Most standard Warrior skills. He focuses on dual wielding a long sword and dagger, both of which he can use separately or together. His crossbow is a secondary weapon. He pulls it out when necessary, but prefers to be in the thick of battle. History: Durk grew up in Orzammar, in the Warrior caste. He went on many raids into the deep roads, proving himself to be a capable warrior. When returned to Orzammar he spent time in the provings, gaining status and respect amongst the noble caste. Over time he lost interest in the politics of Orzammar and left for the surface. He spent time with the Carta but disliked their methods, so struck out on his own to work as a mercenary. He did fairly well, gaining respect from the Human mercenaries he teamed up with. As he grew older, he decided to put active mercenary work aside and reap the benefits of management. He started advertising under the mercenary company name "Swords of Amagarrak". He managed to hire an old friend and fellow merc, Rolf, to be his lieutenant, and did his best to recruit decent and law abiding mercs. He intended his company to be honest and above board. Too many he had dealt with in the past turned to robbery and smuggling. With new recruits, he liked to play the drunk fool, giving them the impression he was shady and dishonest, just to see how they responded. Anyone too eager to jump to the shady side was vetted out by Rolf, or one of his other promising mercs, including a young woman named Kailyn. Kailyn had worked with him a few years now, and was one of his most skilled mercs. He valued her skills and opinions on other new recruits, and relied on her to present a professional front while he played the fool. He trusted her enough to show her his true personality on occasion, something that has grown trust between the two, or at least Durk likes to think it's mutual.
