Can anyone tell me how many cores/threads can Andromeda utilize? Can it use more then 4 cores/threads well?
My FX6300 CPU has six and all are used.
Sartoz, do you have any thoughts about whether using a 6-core cpu makes any noticeable difference over a 4-core cpu for ME:A?

Does anyone know when Patch 1.06 is coming out? This is taking quite a bit and reinforces the notion that they already had Patch 1.05 in the pipeline when they released the game.

Tough to say. I gather your CPU is below spec. Try a google search of "your CPU" VS FX6300 to see where it stands. You may get away with it.

At this point, I don't even think Bioware knows. All we have to go on is that blog post from late March that said they would "release a series of patches over the next two months". Well, now they're down to one since it's been almost a month since 1.05 came out.

Can anyone tell me how many cores/threads can Andromeda utilize? Can it use more then 4 cores/threads well? I have a Core i7 2600K @ 4.5 GHz, and it does use all 8 threads, but not 100% all the time. It varies. Sometimes on the Tempest, I saw all 8 threads at 100%, but other places like the Nexus all 8 threads were used between 40-80%. Eos was around 40-50% utilization.

Sooo the next update??? Maybe they are fixing a lot and don't want to release small patches. Well that's how it was for Inquisition. Biggest issue with this is that people will lose Interest if they take to long. I'm already losing interest. After I finish my insanity playthrough I will return to Overwatch and won't come back unless there is something really interesting.

Tomorrow's going to be some stream discussing multiplayer changes. We won't find anything about single player, optimization and CC updates in it, however it might contain information about the release date of MP patch, which will most likely contain SP changes too.

Ever considered that there might not even be a single player patch? They could have already decided to just focus on the mp and earn some cash that way.

After releasing "The Journey Ahead" post on their official blog, promising to fix CC, character models, animations and other issues in next two months, I would say this would be extremely dumb move that would put their whole company in bad light. That bad light would cast a shadow on their next products for years. To me the game needs so many fixes that I would say BioWare should award every one of us who bought a pre-order and suffered through the current state of the game. Even my girlfriend, who is a casual gamer, is waiting for patches (and trust me, she doesn't put the bar too high for games). UPDATE I watched the multiplayer stream and read some comments made by BioWare Twitch profile later on. Apparently the MP patch WILL contain SP repairs too, so they will be released as one.

The fact that the supposed SP "repairs" (whatever that means) are tacked on to a mainly MP patch, especially considering the amount of fine tuning needed to be done on the SP, is worrisome. I bet this is just a low quality SP "repair" that fixes some minor issues and none of the performance issues plaguing this game. If I'm right, this'll be the last time I buy a Bioware game at full price, this game at its current stage isn't worth $44 (which is the price it's discounted to here in Canada already). What a huge disappointment.

The bug with single player difficulty affecting MP is absolutely ridiculous. Unbelievable, I didn't know about it because I haven't tried MP yet. Just... wow. I don't know how big of a deal it is for other people, but for someone who hasn't played MP yet this seem like a freaking big issue. Totaly balance breaking one.

Singleplayer on Insanity is almost casual compared to MP gold. It was like that in ME3, too. Actually ME3's campaign was a joke on Insanity.

Not sure if this has been asked before or if this is even the right thread:
I only started playing the game last night. Runs ok so far (still on the Hyperion) on max settings but every five minutes or so my external soundcard disconnects and I have to unplug it and reconnect it for the sound to return. If this continues this is a serious problem because I have no on-board sound.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Never happened with any other game before, so it's definitely not a hardware problem. MEA somehow seems to cut the sound, it also extends to Youtube videos or any other media. The sound is just gone even though my PC tells me it's still plugged in and recognized correctly.

... every five minutes or so my external sound card disconnects and I have to unplug it and reconnect it for the sound to return. If this continues this is a serious problem because I have no on-board sound. You've asked a good question because many people who have USB external audio cards can run into this common perplexing issue. I have. Your external sound card issue *may* be due to the USB Power-Saving mode setting in the Win 10 OS Settings window. I use an external USB sound ‘card’ device, the FiiO E10K USB DAC (available on Amazon here: Amazon). I had the same problem you are describing, but it was a global issue for my PC and not related to playing ME:A per se. USB port power is controlled in the power management plan settings (for the Win 10 OS; likely similar to Win 8.1). If USB power is set to the Power-Saving mode, the USB ports will lose power after 5 minutes when the OS detects NO bi-directional signals coming from the attachéd USB device. This is not an issue for a keyboard and mouse as these peripherals frequently send signals to (upstream) the OS to process. An external sound card does not send signals to the OS; it merely receives the downstream digital audio signal coming from the MOBO, so the OS assumes the USB device is inactive and then shuts down the power to that USB port – even though your Sound Card is still connected to the USB port. You will need to verify or change the USB power-saver settings to ‘Disabled’ in order to maintain power to all USB ports. USB power saving can be helpful for laptop PCs where battery life is more important, but for desktop PCs power saving for USB ports doesn’t matter. I think USB power saving is the default setting in all power plans - a Windows feature, not a bug. :bang head Here’s the procedure to check your USB power-saver setting in Windows 10 1. Click on the Windows Start icon and select the SETTINGS (gear) icon. 2. Click the SYSTEM icon. 3. Click the POWER & SLEEP menu 4. Click ADDITIONAL POWER SETTINGS 5. Click the radio button for the ‘Balanced (Recommended)’ plan, under Preferred Plans. If you are using the High Performance power management plan, or the Power Saving management plan, you can select these plans as well for these power setting changes. 6. Click ‘Change Plan Settings’ for the power plan you selected. 7. In the opened ‘Edit Plan Settings’ window click the link (below the drop down menus) to ‘Change Advanced Power Settings’. A pop-up Window called ‘Power Options” will be displayed. There is only one tab section: ‘Advanced Settings’. The name of the power plan you are currently using will be highlighted in the drop-down box just above the list of settings that can be changed. 8. There is a ‘USB settings’ section. Click the plus (+) sign for it. 9. Now click the (+) symbol for USB Selective Suspend Setting’. 10. The current suspend setting is displayed. The setting is highlighted in blue. If the setting is ‘Enabled’, then this setting is what’s causing your USB ports to lose power after ~ 5 minutes for non-interactive USB peripherals, like an attached external sound card. The Setting must be changed to ‘Disabled’. Just click the word ‘Enabled’ to open the drop-down menu, and then click the ‘Disabled’ setting. 11. MAKE SURE YOU click the ‘Apply’ button right NOW! If you want to make this USB power-saving setting disabled for all of your power plans, including the Power Saver plan, use the drop down menu for the named power plans available (just above the listings) to select the other power plans where you want to make this same adjustment. YOU MUST click the Apply Button for each change to the USB settings for the other power plans you are changing. 12 Now you can click the OK button for the Power Options Window and it will disappear. => Then close the ‘Edit Plan Settings’ Window. Before you do this step, click the Save Changes button if it is highlighted. You are now looking at the ‘Settings’ Window. Click the ‘Additional Power Settings’ for Power & Sleep – Related Settings. This opens the Power Options window. Make sure your current (radio button choice) power plan in the ‘Preferred Plans’ section is the plan where you just ‘Disabled’ the USB power-saving feature. Close this Power Options window when the power plan you want to use is the same power plan where you disabled the USB power-saving setting. Close the Windows' Settings window and you are done. I hope this helps your USB audio card to stay powered on all the time.

Ohhh thanks a lot, I will try this shortly!
I wasn't aware of this issue because it never happened before. So like everything it's a Win 10 issue, figures...
I will report back.
EDIT: It worked!!! Thank you SO MUCH! I disabled the USB power saving and sound still there after 15min. You saved me!

more options and variety for character creator
general improvements to hair and appearances (pubic & armpit hair especially)
improvements to cinematics and animations (orangutan motion capture)
improvements to the male romance options for Scott Ryder (shag everyone and everything. Including animals, plants & minerals)
performance & stability issues (i would rather have performance & stability fixes)
more free cosmetic items for single player (i will look so purdy now)
build on the APEX missions for multiplayer (newer gave a shit about MP in ME)
new maps, characters, weapons for multiplayer (as stated above)

Patch 1.06 Combat Balance Updatesby Author - BioWarePosted on - May 9, 2017 blog.bioware.com/2017/05/09/patch-1-06-combat-balance-updates/ We’ve received a lot of community feedback about balance issues in multiplayer. We have improved the overall experience based on that feedback and our own testing.
Powers and weapons were underperforming at higher difficulties—particularly power combos and assault rifles. As a result, players relied heavily on the Vanquisher sniper rifle and melee-focused classes.
We found current damage levels significantly slowed the pace of games on Gold and Silver difficulties. To fix this, we started to overhaul the balance in multiplayer. Today’s changes are the first step in that process.
For general Patch 1.06 notes, click here.
For patch notes in other languages, click here.
Powers
We determined that the base damage of powers were too low, which caused them to be underpowered in the late stages. We’ve now increased the base damage of powers and improved some of the bonuses granted by additional skill points. We’ve also improved damage from passive skill trees.
Combo detonations on Gold and Silver difficulties also received a buff because they inflicted less damage than intended.
Weapons
Mass Effect multiplayer is more fun when it’s fast-paced, but low weapon damage limited that pace on Gold and Silver difficulties. There was also a noticeable imbalance between weapon classes, particularly for shotguns and assault rifles.
We’ve boosted the base damage for several underperforming assault rifles, pistols, and shotguns to make them more effective. In particular, we wanted shotguns to become better skirmish weapons, so we boosted their damage and accuracy outside of cover, while reducing the extra accuracy bonus when firing from cover.
Finally, we reduced the damage of the Vanquisher sniper rifle to make it comparable with other weapons. Its overwhelming damage far outclassed other weapons and made this particular sniper rifle a must-have. We’ve now evened the playing field so players feel more comfortable bringing something besides the Vanquisher to a Gold-level game.
We’ll continue to consider potential adjustments for some weapons.
Enemy Factions
We’ve also changed how difficult some enemy factions are to fight.
Due to their individual survivability, the kett were the most difficult faction. To combat this, we reduced their health and defenses. We also lessened the chance the Fiend will sync-attack on Silver and Gold difficulties. We’re investigating latency issues that cause the Fiend to appear like it teleports when it jumps.
We wanted to make the Outlaws more challenging, so we improved the ability of Sharpshooters and Hydras to push players into cover. We also made the Berserker easier to fight from cover and the Hydra is now stronger and more dangerous.
We left the Remnant untouched and continue to monitor their performance. Player:
Fixed a bug that made Silver and Gold difficulties use normal stats for Shield Gate and Health Gate
Fixed a bug that made Silver and Gold difficulties use normal stats for damage reduction due to armor. Enemy armor now reduces 15 damage per hit on Silver and 20 damage per hit on Gold, to a minimum of 10 damage per hit Powers:
All Damage Powers
Raw damage upgrades increased by a cumulative 25-35% per power
All Offensive Passive Lines
Power damage upgrades increased by a cumulative 20% per line
Power Combos
Fixed an issue that caused combos in Gold and Silver difficulties to inflict incorrect base damage
Increased base combo damage by approximately 60% in Bronze, 140% in Silver, and 200% in Gold.
Increased the value of combo damage upgrades in all passives from +30% to +50% Combat Powers:
Barricade
Increased base duration from 12s to 13s
Decreased Rank 4 duration bonus from 40% to 35%, although the end duration is still greater than before
Increased Rank 5 buff from 20% to 30% power damage bonus
Flak Cannon
Increased base primary damage from 180 to 250
Increased base power cell count from 2 to 4 Tech Powers:
Assault Turret
Increased the Rank 5 flamethrower’s damage per second from 45 to 150, and burn damage over time from 22 to 35 damage per second
Increased the Rank 2 health upgrade from +30% to +50%, and the Rank 4 health upgrade from +50% to +75%
The power’s cooldown now triggers when the turret spawns, instead of when it is destroyed.
Increased base bullet damage from 20 to 36
The cooldown is now 30s, but can be reduced to 10s with the Rank 4 cooldown upgrade.
Fixed a bug causing the Rank 6 cryo ammo to inflict no damage
Incinerate
Increased the base damage from 120 to 350
Decreased the damage over time from 50 to 45 damage per second
Overload
Increased base uncharged damage from 150 to 200, and charged damage from 200 to 300
Flamethrower
Increased base damage from 220 to 240 damage per second
Cryo Beam
Increased base damage per second from 135 to 150
Energy Drain
Increased base damage from 160 to 175
Shield Boost
Increased base radius from 6m to 8m
Increased support score generated by successfully giving another player shields from 10 to 20
Invasion
Improved Rank 4 infection radius and Rank 5 spread radius
Remnant VI
Increased base health from 500 to 800
Increased Rank 2 health upgrade from 15% to 65%
Improved Rank 4 health regeneration rate and delay
