And if I am not mistaken, Garrus is the only one who does that - cares about Shepard. And this is why he is the most loved companion in the game (in addition to the best romance, of course).

Didn't Kaidan/Ashley also care about Shepard a lot? In fact, wasn't that why they were so upset on Horizon? Even if not romanced, the VS says they would have been willing to follow Shepard into death.

Every love interest cares about Shepard However, I like the subtle way Garrus care. Like that moment in the Refugee Camp in the docks were he is coordinating things with the Turian Military. He sees Shepard is taking so much responsability, even if she doesn't confess it to him. And he says something like "take care of yourself, not only because this people needs you, but because I need you". It took me by surprise the very first time

And he says something like "take care of yourself, not only because this people needs you, but because I need you". It took me by surprise the very first time I was about to post that very same conversation!! I was gladly surprised too! I didn't expect him to so openly express his feelings for her, not because I though it was out of character but because I was in metagaming mode... I didn't expect that kind of content before locking the romance. Garrus romance is really nice, it has all those little nods and details... like how he puts his arm around Shepard and says "There, there, its okay. I know there are others things you are good at" if you choose to miss the target in the Presidium, or when you speak to him after Tuchanka and he asks Shepard how she is doing and tries to cheer her up... and puts his arm around her... and... well, I would never finish if I listed all those great moments!! As much as I've enjoyed other Bioware romances, I think Garrus is going to be at the top for years to come...

I don't recall if anyone's mentioned this but you know that line he says after his recruitment mission about how some women find men with scars attractive? Because he gives a different line for male Shep, I wonder if this was a flirt line from him?

Everything Garrus says from Archangel mission and so on it sounds to me like he is flirting without even realizing

If that's the case, it'd be an incredibly refreshing change of pace where Femshep has to take the lead in a lot of her romances. Definitely headcanoning then, that Garrus tried to flirt with her there!

And to keep it on topic: when did your Shep fall for Garrus in game?
Not directed at me but answering anyway. At the reveal in ME2 in my first PT. I was like....Garrus??! GARRUS!!! When did you turn into such a badass??! He was my first ME3 import, and is still my favorite romance for femShep.
In my "head-canon that isn't written yet and may never be if I don't get working on it" they end up together after the Reaper war. He had a thing for her for years, but she had to go through Kaidan and Thane (and a few bouts of depression and death-wishing) before she finally figured it out.

Of course you're welcome to answer that Melbella! I'd love to hear from any Garrusmancer of that moment they had that spark for that lovable turian! If I may tell my headcanon, the Shep that romanced him didn't want a relationship in the first game as she was still getting over Akuze, but after nearly losing Garrus on Omega after his recruitment, that's when it began. Here she was, stuck with an organization she hated, feeling alone with everyone moved on, familiar faces unable to trust her for something out of her control, so when Garrus, the first ME1 teammate willing to join the team nearly died, things changed.

I was thinking the same!! And then I remember you are a God too. So many Gods in this thread and I'm only a simple mortal... Hang in there! Better to have quality posts than some weird status label! (I wonder if we can have that changed to a different name) And to keep it on topic: when did your Shep fall for Garrus in game? Weird status label posting is my kind of posting!! About my headcanon Shepard... God, I mean opuspace, I wrote like a long LONG post talking about it, and when I was about to post it, my internet died. I lost all I wrote in thirty minutes in two seconds To keep it short: my favourite Shepard, Mei, Spacer Hero of Elysium, a Vanguard in ME1 was in a sort of relationship with an old Alliance friend off screen . That's why Shepard was interested in starting anything with someone else. She found Garrus attractive (she has no problems finding aliens attractive) and that was all. She is emotionally attached to someone else and Garrus didn't seem the type of Turian attracted to humans. In ME2, everything changes. Shepard wakes up in a Cerberus hospital bed. She discovers she has lost the most part of her biotic powers and that's a huge deal for her. She was a vanguard. Her biotics were an extension of herself and her way of approaching enemies like a Krogan: upfront and with a shotgun . Shepard has to learn another specialty (Infiltration) from the scratch with a Suicide Mission in the horizon (ah! I made a joke ). Being an Infiltrator sucks for her at the beginning, because despite of her good aim, she lacks of patience and she tends to be very reckless. She doesn't trust Cerberus, she doesn't believe she is herself anymore. Also, she has been two years KIA and she doesn't see the way of contacting her old lover. She is even terrified of speaking with her own mother. Then, she goes to Archangel Mission and she discovers Garrus instead of Rogue Robin Hood. She feels the attraction once more. Then, during the first part of the game she bonds with him while they train in the Cargo Bay at night, because both have problems with sleeping. Eventually they start talking about their problems. After Sidonis, they have a little break, but eventually things are good again. Then, Samara's loyalty mission on Omega happens and that's the first time Shepard notices her attraction with Garrus seems mutual. After that you know what happens: Shepard flirts like a Vanguard and Garrus does what he can, because unlike Shepard, he was oblivious about she was into him. Also, he wasn't even aware he was already in love with her. Something he could have realized easily if he would have stopped killing mercs just for one minute and think. The reason why he was grieving so deeply about his Commanding Officer was pretty clear, but once more the red tape kept this C-Sec Detective in the dark... And that's this is the brief version, my friends

Dalinne Eeeeeee! I love reading headcanons! Your story is so detailed! If you want help with racking up your post count, we can always spam more Garrus love! Like for example, which sniper rifle best captures his personality? I'm tempted to say the black widow.

I don't know about personality, but in ME3 he usually ends up with the Mantis. I don't normally buy the Spectre weapons, even though I love the Wraith and Black Widow. In ME2, I give him the Viper once I unlock it. No preference in ME1 - whatever has the best stats at the time, and then the HWs once I can afford them.

However, in ME2 I tend not to give him the Viper because I see Garrus "one shot one bullet" kind of sniper. Viper is great but its value comes from the possibility to shot multiple times. With Mantis and Widow Maker is more important to aim to the head and kill the enemy with only one shot. Those are more suitable for him IMO. opuspace, you are so kind Long rides with the Mako and long missions shooting enemies gave me plenty time to think in backgrounds. I have backgrounds for ALL the characters with this specific Shepard. I played her so many times I only have to add little new ideas or changes to spicy things up. Also, I like writing and I consider that a way of excercise my mind. Now, I have a question for you: what happens between ME2-ME3 gap in your headcanon?

My Shep fell for Garrus right when he took his helmet off on Omega. My Shep was dead, nobody she recognized at all, all her friends gone or MIA, and here's her best friend. Someone she can actually rely on and trust. Her heart nearly burst when he got hit by that rocket. She forgot how sexy his voice was, how tough he was, and his unwaivering loyalty. It was all downhill from there.

Well, that is a legitimate reason I use the same Onyx Armor in ME1 for my Shepard and keep my squadmates with the same brand of armors, even when they don't protect shit for the sake of maintain their style. In Insanity play is more suicidal than the Suicide Mission, but it helps with continuity

More or less the same as melbella. Now, I have a question for you: what happens between ME2-ME3 gap in your headcanon? Between ME2 & ME3? I have a hard time believing Shep just finished the suicide mission and said, "Whelp, let's go to jail!" (There could have been side missions not finished, Shep may not have even done Arrival) so I headcanon that the Council agreed to send another Spectre to arrest Shepard while they were docked on a planet. Every spaceport had been warned to profile the Normandy since finding a stealth ship in space was too much work. It nearly got ugly, a fight broke out because Shep still had too much to do to prepare for the Reapers but the agent didn't care and was more than willing to shoot Joker as a hostage if Shep didn't comply. So Shep agreed to go on the condition that the rest of her teammates leave quietly. They all had to find their own transportation but the Spectre agreed since Shepard was their only target. My Renegade Shep had to be knocked out and dragged since she wasn't going to jail period. The crew didn't even know what happened until the news showed her arrest.

I'm gonna use it for my Earthborn Butcher of Torfan . It suits her sooo much better than "well, fun is over, I'm going to prison".
