Despite having not played the trial, I agree with this. I still have nightmares from For Honor and trying to press both the light and heavy attack buttons together to initiate an area attack, and then wind up doing a random heavy attack at nothing. Um, most zone attacks are an alternative heavy with wider range. They're good at clearing minion waves in dominion though.

I'm not sure how it is on PC or PS4 but on Xbox you need to press the top 2 bumpers to activate a main ability. My issue is that you cannot change this under controller settings. This is a bad design choice IMO. For example sometimes I don't press them in unison and then I throw sticky grenade instead of cloaking. In ME3 it was one button to activate any ability. At least give us the option to change this under settings or remove the 2 button thing entirely. It's really tough activating the combat drone, it seems if they are not pressed perfectly together I receive either nothing or an ability I did not want to use

/WARNING - TMI!!! Dr. Rob recommends alternating hands while monkey spanking. It will: A) feel super funky using the other hand, strengthen the fingers, wrists, and forearms, and C) feelsa sofa king gooood. Yes, I practice this and through dedicated practice +10 controller dexterity and +15 hardness (damage resistance) and +50 Oh yeahs! Mucking about aside, I agree this was an odd thing to do. However with the implementation of evade, it was simply easier for them to go this route. As other's have said, this feature is used in Destiny, and while I played it, you just got used to it. For anyone on XB1 who is using a regular controller, consider getting the Elite controller—despite it's hefty price. Solid construction, and the ability to map to the paddles. I can tell you that having run, jump, evade, and camera switch on the paddles makes it much easier. Can you map both top bumpers into one button though? We shouldn't have to spend $150 to fix this. My gamer girlfriend agrees that the 2 button thing is really bad and she's been playing ME3 multiplayer longer than I have. Unfortunately no. It does make sense to have this in the software though.

This one is a little weird. Partly because I still end up thinking that middle power is my middle button (y or triangle). So I end up using melee attack when I really wanted to use something else. Also hitting them both at exactly the same time, well in elder scrolls online they have that as your ultimate skill and it's kind of weird. The sync doesn't always work as it should.

I've used a pad on the PC version and had no issue at all when pressing both

I'm sorry but if you're having issue pressing 2 buttons in unison then you must be so ridiculously uncoordinated it's untrue. Never once had that issue on Destiny and not once have I had it on this. The issue isn't so much people's inability to press two buttons, it's the controller's inability to register the presses as simultaneous. Agreed. Destiny was also a different type of double button push, that was for a super, this isn't. These are just regular powers, I went from one character with throw on like LB to another class that had throw with the double button push that was infinitely more awkward to use especially when trying to quickly get it out for a combo when the rare opportunity came from a teammate using a primer that I could detonate with it.

I've enjoyed throwing the occasional melee instead of casting a power myself. It'll come in time and the muscle memory will be there. Gotta admit it, I did that a lot, lol. Opps.

I've been using the Krogan Engineer which has Assault Turret mapped to the two button combo; no issue at all. I know it's a change and all but it IS a logical one, mapping all the powers to the shoulder buttons gives you more control in movement and aiming than you had when we had to use a d-pad button. It's something that really doesn't merit much of a complaint at all as even if you are currently having issues with it with a little practice it will be totally second nature.
