Manveer Heir is not working at BioWare anymore

I generally agree with the idea of separating the art from the artist. But there was something about the way Manveer shoved his abhorrent views in people's faces constantly on Twitter that really bugged me. It was basically like he was going out of his way to antagonise a large portion of BioWare's fanbase just for his own sick pleasure. And while doing so, hiding behind a phoney guise of "progressive" language ("white privilege", etc) as though he was righteous in doing so. Mostly, I found it really unprofessional. And I think what annoys people the most is the double standard of it: hypothetically speaking, if a BioWare employee used the same kind of toxic, racist language against any minority they'd be fired in a heartbeat, yet he seemed to go unchallenged. 

So all in all I'm glad to see him gone.

It is prejudiced however, mostly because of Heirs beliefs on intersectional social and cultural structure.

I personally disagree with him on an academic level on that one. 

How the fuck do you shove your twitter into other peoples faces? You don't have to follow him you know, and a person shouldn't have to keep their personal twitter professional. I don't think it's anyone's business if someone is being racist against minorities on twitter either. Then again twitter itself will just ban you for that, because they have double standards.

I never whined about him. He was a tool. Not much else to say.

Fine, but then that has to be the rule all of the time. White nationalists, anti-semites, whatever other horrible belief system — as long as you do your job, it's fine, right?

A lot of people would have a problem with that. The basic point I'm trying to make is that there has to be some consistency. If something is bad (i.e. racism), then it's bad all the time, in all forms. Or, alternatively, if we're permissive and just let people have their fucked up beliefs, then we have to be consistent about it.

And I don't think BioWare are about to hire any white nationalists or flagrant anti-semites any time soon. So I think the double standard is what bugs people the most.

Fair enough. I don't necessarily disagree with you. I pretty much believe in having a permissive society, on the whole. Maybe not quite to the degree that you do, but whatever. And I don't necessarily think Manveer should have been fired (if that's what happened), but at the same time I'm personally glad to see him go.

But, like I said, BioWare won't be hiring any white nationalists any time soon. There are certain forms of prejudice that are more palatable and acceptable, and I think that's bullshit.

So again, the main point I'm trying to make is that people/companies should at the very least be consistent. That's all.

Sure, that's fair. Sorry, I wasn't accusing you of not being consistent. I was just trying to point out that when some people see the Manveer situation at Bioware, they see a double standard. So if BioWare is a company that claims to be open and inclusive and one that doesn't tolerate racism or discrimination, then it should be consistent about it and hold someone like Manveer to the same set of rules and standards.
