And yeah, good discussions, but time to steer this thread back on track...
Didn't there used to be a Locked Twitter Only thread where one could just see tweets only? It seems to have disappeared.

I used to feel free enough, with boundaries, to go kinda off topic in here because I knew if people wanted "Tweets only" there was nothing stopping them. But now I see there isn't that thread anymore There are tweets that aren't worth their own threads but it's nice to conjecture for half a page or so about them. But this being the only news source thread now, should we move every "discussion about tweet" to the speculation thread or? do you have a suggestion?

Idk about you all, but I've been feeling edgy as heck since that dat solar eclipse though. Idk. I'm just saying. As far as Giant Morrigan. It seems almost life size? At least the angle of the pic? Maybe Morrigan is actually a bit short? I thought you'd be taller. No, but Idk if that would freak me out everytime I walked into my office. Or make me want to throw myself into her bosom and sob about the trials and tribulations of life. Only for Morrigan to say, "Suck it up". Both prospects equally intrigue and unsettle me. I'd also be constantly aware of my periphery in case an Eluvian portal flashed open. I watching you Morrigan...

The Twitter Threads have always been flexible about having the odd comments made about them, but when it turns into a conversation, then it definitely should be taken to another thread. As were in a slow period now, we've been a bit lax about it. But we're definitely going to have to start cutting back as the thread is getting a bit too chatty. Maybe a DA General Discussion Thread is the way to go for conversations that don't warrant their own threads?

Stephanie Ayer @lastladyjaneSo what I'm hearing is it could be another Dragon Age game OR you guys could be building a portal into the actual Dragon Age universe? Y/N? Mike Laidlaw @mike_LaidlawDo you want the Blight? Because that's how you get the Blight. I know this is going to sound goofy. I wanted to mention it before, but it's tin foil hat-y. I know Mike is making a joke, an evasive joke. However, there's this part of me that wonders if something slipped, and that indeed the origin of the Blight was through some portal? Something buried deep in the..well, in the Deep Roads. A portal to what, though? Probably the Snake people, huh? I remember Cory saying the Golden/Black city was already corrupted when he got there, and for some reason I believe him. So, hypothetically, we remember the bits about the elves sealing something away in desperation, and that was long before Tevinter and the Magisters' attempts. It wasn't so much the wrath of the Maker as it was akin to....opening up a radioactive storage dump without understanding what radioactive waste was. And ofc I'm sure there was desire on part of the Magisters for power and immortality...we've always been looking for immortality. In a backhanded Xenon the Antiquarian way, they/he got their wish, but, oh, the fine print. They were beckoned, though. By something on the other side of the portal. Could be the locked away Evanuris? Maybe driven mad by their seeking the Red Lyrium for more power. Or something else altogether? Begs the question is the Blight's destructive nature an intent--like chemical warfare-or is it simply its nature? Is there someone or something on the other side that sees it as all good. Working as planned. Terraforming Thedas. You mad, bro? I know I'm rambling. But that's what the tweet made me think of...that the Blight came through one of the forgotten Eluvians.

The feel I get about Tevinter has always been somewhat Transylvania. No not that one. Or...well But like one of those really old vampire, or Vincent Price movies. Our party getting trapped at some point in a spooky Tevinter castle/structure and having to somehow survive until dawn has to be in the game. edit: oh, i forgot the magic words, "Make it happen, Bioware!" * clapsthreetimeanddoesthehokeypokeyandleavesthethread* for now. (and don't be mad at me, BW. you know i still love you. nomnom, baba. nomnom your face.) and why do i feel like i've just offended somebody by mentioning Romania in connection with dracula movies? i feel a disturbance. i understand Romania has a rich and varied history that goes far beyond any dracula movies. But tevinter makes me think of the setting of a dracula movie. that is all.

It may come from a different place or dimension yet, but it may as well be something primordial. As it happens, we have many myths in which old generation of powerful beings/gods wants to eliminate the young one, by which they're ultimately replaced.

Is the Blight alien to Thedas? Is it possible that it came from another world? It's interesting to think about.

Per the Cthulhu rift mage symbol in the UI and on book covers in various locations in-game? (Also I think it used to be the thumbnail image for Horror? Or the Entropy school at least? ) I suppose it could all be referencing the evanuris or the Forgotten ones, who seem to have just been rival elves at this point if Anaris' entry from Jaws of Hakkon is anything to go by. But some older third party we're not currently completely aware of could be cool. I still for the record think the blight has something intrinsic to do with the titans. These ideas aren't mutually exclusive though. There's the spiral sigil codex in Descent that implies the titans have been put to sleep on purpose in the deep roads. And the red lyrium whispers codex in the Fade talking about finding the dreams again. These seem possibly tied to the old dreams mentioned in that wolf chewing off his own leg Cole entry. Also, if what Tea said about previous gods trying to kill their successors is going to possibly apply at all, we can't ignore that the Titans are called "Titans". Yes, it means "humongous" but it's also the name of the predecessors of the Olympians in Greek mythology.

Yes, it means "humongous" but it's also the name of the predecessors of the Olympians in Greek mythology. Titanomachy! But yea, and there are actually some parallels between Evanuris and Greek gods - being fickle, feuding between themselves, Solas basically being Prometheus, Mythal's signature statue being based on one of the most famous' Greek statues, Nike of Samothrace...

Yeah, that was a great feature of the old boards. I have a request thread up for this feature: support.proboards.com/thread/639102/post-labels-filtering-threadsThough I did find an existing plugin that might work for us as well (Hastag Posts): www.proboards.com/library/plugins/item/496 "put [#]word in posts that creates a clickable link that will run the search engine for all posts with that same hashtag"
If we came up with a set of hashtag standards, eg. #DAT (Dragon Age Tweet) #MET (Mass Effect Tweet) and so on, that could work as well. The only caveat being searches are dependent on the search server indexing the post.

One of the big theories about the origin of the blight is that Andruil brought it through the void. She used to go hunting there and it started to drive her insane. She crafted weapons and armor of the void and something began to plague her lands. I believed Mythal intervened at that point. And when the evanuris began to wage war it is theorized that they were going to use the blight as their nuclear weapon.

Just found out about an event called The Game Development Conference for Eastern Europe taking place today and tomorrow in Bucharest. From what I see, a lot of devs from companies around Eastern Europe plus companies that have subsidiaries over here (like Ubisoft), will be attending. Maybe that's another thing Mike will be attending? Dev.Play ConferenceAnd, no, Romanian architecture does not mess around. Thanks for the publicity, Mike. Rapscalioness mentioned she gets a Dracula vibe from Tevinter but I would disagree. Tevinter is modeled more after the Roman Empire. While there is Roman inspired architecture around (because the Romans were here for a long while), the Dracula icon, Bran Castle, is not it. This is Bran Castle, the actual "Dracula's" Castle. It bears more of a resemblance to German castles.
