"He did not want a body, but she asked him to come. He left a scar when he burned her off his face."
We can't tell yet, don't we? I don't think Mr. Weekes will confirm either way, just like they won't officially confirm we're going to Tevinter, even though we got a big hint that we likely will.

“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
Fenedhiss @fenedhiss @patrickweekes don't know if this is something you could answer, but how did Solas get his little forehead scar?
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes We have never canonically said. I know how I intend for it to have happened, but that depends on us getting to make a game involving it.
Fenedhiss @fenedhiss Ah. Good to have it confirmed at least that it was a narrative choice and not an aesthetic one. On that note, how much control/influence did you have over character design for your characters?
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Aha! It was actually an entirely aesthetic choice. So much of the job is seeing something cool someone else did and running with it. We talk a lot with concept folks, and it's a team effort to come up with someone fun to write AND draw. (And, you know, adventure with and smooch and whatever)
It's fun to come up with a narrative based around an aesthetic choice. For my Inquisitor, I picked very short hair and a couple of scars only because I liked their appearance. It was only later on, when I started developing his roleplay and background, that I came up with reasons for them.
Each person on the team, the writer and character designer, contribute to the final character we see.
[edit] You know, I wonder how that fares for these characters that are being introduced in the comics. Maevaris, Tessa, Marius, Vaea, and Ser Aaron have a fixed appearance, so there won't be much collaboration going on there if those characters appear, at least not to the same degree as introducing a new character.

I guess that makes sense. Though I don't know of anyone else who has that shtick.

It's usually how it goes with storytelling or creating - it doesn't always come from inside of inside of head, but there's something people see or like or notice and suddenly the inspiration strikes. I did see a panel with David Gaider for example, where they were trying to figure out Vivienne who they've had problem nailing, and once a concept artist painted her with dark skin, Mary Kirby pretty much immediately 'got' her and her distinct voice.
As for comic characters - well, they certainly have to be approved, if they don't have concept art or approved designs and bio approved for them already.

With that I meant more that that moment of inspiration and collaboration between writer and artist will be lacking, since those elements are already decided on. You can also apply this to someone taking over the writing of an already established character.
Let's take Dorian. We know what Dorian looks like and his visual style. How that informs his personality, and how those elements play off each other, has already been decided, so whichever writer takes over the character isn't going to be putting as much of their own creative juices into the character as they might have otherwise. The same is true for the comic characters as well.

That might actually be a good thing. Maybe it will allow the comic characters to develop a personality.
I haven't read the last issue of Knight Errant yet, but between it and Magekiller, the main char's are just bleh. Maybe it's just the writing style I don't like, with the "action" being narrated from some point in the future by the person who did the action in the past. Just let me read the story of what is happening, minus the comments from the future peanut gallery.

Shouldn't be a problem anyhow, so long as the writer 'hears' the distinct voice of a character and know what they're doing. Cole and Solas are Gaider's characters, yet they were written effectively by Patrick Weekes in DAI and so on.
Also, we don't know whether it's the game writers would have to (possibly) write already established characters, or it's comic writers that are following what was already established. I'm fairly sure game writers and graphic/concept artists have been brainstorming and sculpting new chars for years now and we can't tell how much of it is set in stone or will be featured in games.

Red @dangerousalley Alright, @biomarkdarrah @mike_Laidlaw @patrickweekes , explain. When did rage demons start possessing animals?! Lord Woolsey deals w/demons?
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes What did you DO to the very special ram? Who is going to bring wealth to that struggling merchant family now?
Red @dangerousalley Lol, it wasn't me, it was the one-armed man. And YOU didn't answer my question. Hmmm
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Well, it wasn't a rage demon until you went and damaged it, was it? It was probably a spirit of Total Niceness or something!
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes "We need a spell effect. We can't have demon and animal onscreen together, for memory reasons. You might say there's insufficient RAM."
Christina🇵🇷 @tinamariesa You're a gift, Patrick Weekes
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah I've tried returning him
Dumped Drunk Dalish @drunkdalish NO! Lord Woolsley is a beneficent SPIRIT RAM who will give you sound financial advice! He wasn't a demon until you attacked! #RIPSerWoolsley

I love the Lord Woolsley thing! The way the Inquisitor addresses him is also great. XD I have a mabari plush, but never bothered with a nug one; I'd totally get our fiery orange ram, if he was available!

I think that quest could have benefited from being a cutscenes, since the Herald can launch into their spiel while LW is halfway across the map, running away.

Lol I always clear any enemies in the surrounding area before approaching him. I've done this mainly because I've aggroed random mods while trying to coax him and I'm always afraid that combat aoe damage will accidentally kill him. Poor Jimmy.

Wanna bet we're going to get a fennec demon to avenge all those fennecs in DAI?

Tessa and Marius looked so little alike between comics that I thought when Vaea opened the door, Charter had already changed lovers. Then I realized they expected me to match them up despite their completely different appearance. The only similarities were hair color, imo
