I'm glad they're moving away from that. The brothels in Tevinter are full of slaves, it would be pretty skeevy to offer that option to a PC. Though I didn't care for the ones in the other games, either.

I am honestly disappointed that brothels will never come back says this female gamer. I hope they at least re introduce the random sexual encounters: Cammen, Ghayna, Iona, the male noble guy, Isabella in DAO, Zevran in DA2.

That being said, some person is going to see the removal of brothels as a sign of Bioware pushing a social justice agenda.

Actually, that would be the funniest thing ever, if Orlais turned Skyhold into a brothel! And then Fereldan went to war with Orlais because they wanted the brothel.

While I don't mind whether there is a brothel, I think the point is that if they are going to build a whole city (not just separate districts) which is almost necessary in an open world game, then the city would have a brothel usually. You can't just avoid that kind of contents.

This can be solved by having mentions of them in ambient dialogue, but simply not allowing the player to go there. Not having player-accessible brothels doesn't mean there are no brothels in the city, only that the player can't visit them.

I wouldn't mind having a brothel environment if it were part of a quest, such as the quests in DA2. But I don't think the player has to be allowed to partake.

I want a chance at being a mean selfish dark character protag as much as I want to play a goody two shoes.

The removal of such an area entirely points to another game where I can only play a goody two shoes. But maybe not, I can hope. Because Prostitution is a morally grey area in our modern culture anyway so it's kinda offensive to Working Girls who actually like their job to say, "I need my evil protag to pay to bang some pixels."

In the end, I actually rarely used them except for one PT where I was RPing a specific kind of character. I would at least wamt the brothel to be a visit-able place even if we can't partake of the facilities in a personal way. That's why my initial reaction was about reintroducing casual non paid completely consensual casual sex. I dEFINITELY have used those opportunities to inject hedonism into my character that would otherwise have just been in my head.

And if I wanted everything about my character to just be in my head, I'd play Skyrim. Ew.
