Alexis Kennedy @alexiskennedy thank you. I look forward to the fun.
Jason Kapalka @jasonkapalka does this mean you get to visit exciting Edmonton in the depths of winter ??
Alexis Kennedy @alexiskennedy (I've been to Edmonton three times, always between May and June. My luck can't last forever)
Jason Kapalka @jasonkapalka just ask @al_McNally , you get used to it after a few extremities drop off
Alistair McNally @al_McNally Winter is magical in Edmonton, a modern fairy story.
Alexis Kennedy @alexiskennedy I believe you! Just as long as it's not the Snow Queen

Kidding aside, they've teased them enough in Hakkon and Descent (and wall/cliff paintings, and... whatever else) I think it's a safe bet they'll show up eventually. I only accept Bees taking over. Deep in a forgotten chamber beneath BioWare Edmonton, a Monkey Paw curls... and shivers slightly.

Reddit has also caught onto the Alexis Kennedy story. Some funny excerpts:
https://www.reddit.com/r/dragonage/comments/52dyal/no_spoilers_sunless_sea_writer_to_join_bioware/
The specific mention of working with PW has the hype train going for DA4.

Hmmm.. Could this mean that the Iron Bull might be in DA4? (assuming he's Tal-Vashoth) Judging from Biofan's interview with Patrick Weekes, where the lead writer told us how they've struggled and tried to get around killing Iron Bull for a while, precisely because it may be difficult to bring a character we can kill back, I'd say that it is a distinct possibility.

They love to bring back characters when ever logically and budgetarily possible. I don't doubt he'll somehow turn up (if alive) for a role in the Qunari vs Tevinter plot. Might be small since he can be dead, but we'll see.

My Iron Bull died, but my Inquisitor would certainly have checked if he was still alive at the end of the fight, and probably poured a potion down his throat if he was. She was the queen of second chances. So I won't be annoyed if he returns; I'll just headcanon she did pour a potion down his throat before continuing her chase of the Viddasala.

*tentatively ventures back in... sees monkey paw... screams and leaves the building again* Heh... Look up the story of "The Monkey's Paw". Long story short... Be careful what you wish for. Hmmm.. Could this mean that the Iron Bull might be in DA4? (assuming he's Tal-Vashoth) As BioFan points out, since he can die in DAI (and doesn't have the "out" that say, Calpernia has), there's no guarantee he would make an appearance, even if alive. And if he did, his role would have to be relatively small, but still could be an important one (eg. Loghain in DAI).

The whole choice with Iron Bull was a GREAT example of choice/consequence within a game. It was made more impactful because of that scope. If they bring him back regardless of player decision that will wipe out any of that impact. He doesn't even die in my game and I would still be pissed. I can't really hold onto the fact that it may be a small role and such, depending on player choice, because we have the ultimate example of Leliana's appearance to fall back on. [edit] I suppose I wouldn't be surprised, though. PW likes the character, and all the devs really seem to like FPJ and having worked with him.

Regarding the possibility of Iron Bull's return, I'd have to say not likely. Not only does Calpernia have a possible out, but so does Leliana. (Unless, of course, you kill her in the camp.) I'm of the opinion that Leliana survives because she "dies" at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. *shrugs*

^ Regarding Leliana, if you import that play, you learn that the Leliana you've been interacting with is basically just a spirit that has taken her form and personality.
But you know, we don't know when they came up with that whole idea. Just because Oghren mentions a thing about lyrium in the temple itself, doesn't mean they actually planned to use some deux ex machina to bring her back -- in the third game they didn't even know would exist -- if the player makes that choice.
I suppose I take a greater exception with the IB choice because that was the whole crux of his character arc; it was THE choice that the player made that changed everything for the character. I was proud of Bioware for having the balls to do it. Saying that it means nothing it just stupid. It's also sad and disappointing.
So yeah, I'm hoping it's a Loghain/Alistair type of situation.

So anyway, back to Da4.
Alexis says he will be starting early next year - if it's not for a (stupid) tactics game, does this mean they will get more down to business in January? Makes sense to get working more earnestly after the holidays. When is Andromeda out? And he is commissioned for 6 months plus, so maybe a major story quest?
It would be kind of awesome if he wrote a quest where we had to go to Serault to check on those crazy ass elves from the browser game.

Leliana's "lyrium ghost" handwave was really pretty lame and I hope they don't repeat it.
If Lyrium Ghost Leliana had been actually different from real Leliana, or if Leliana being a Lyrium Ghost had mattered somewhat, then it might have been OK. But Biff the Lyrium Understudy just shows up, fills in Leliana's part of the play and exits stage left when its no longer necessary.
They should have just retconned.

If it was "handwave" they wouldn't have introduced the concept of lyrium!ghost at all. Obviously it's a clue to something that will likely matter later. Her story's not yet over.

Biff the Lyrium Understudy Bwahahahaa! I do agree with the tenor of the conversation, though; regardless of how in love with a character the writers (or the players) may be, I don't want to see them brought back through cheap necromancy, negating player choices. Why bother giving choices in the first place if that's the way it plays out? In Bull's case specifically, maybe it's because I'm a bit raw from just playing Trespasser through for the first time on the weekend, but if I never see that ass again, it'll be fine.
