Liliana also dies if the warden sacrifices themselves and she hasn't been "hardened". She just straight up offs herself. People seem to forget that exists. Lol I didn't even know what was a thing. Damn that's dark.

It was implied she was considering suicide, not an implicit declaration that Leliana killed herself.

It was implied she was considering suicide, not an implicit declaration that Leliana killed herself. Strongly implied: Leliana remained in the royal court for a time, mourning. She poured her heart into a ballad that would eventually become known throughout Thedas. But after one performance, Leliana quietly vanished. Some say that the Maker came to her in a vision again that night. Smiling, tears in her eyes, she told a maid that she would see her love again at last.”

Well, we do know from further games that she indeed didn't kill herself. Not necessarily, since they brought her back from the dead with an in-game story explanation for those who killed her. This raises an interesting question. If you import this version of Leliana, do you get the spirit Leliana in DAI? Or does that only trigger if you killed her in DAO? Neither of these is a scenario I can test out myself.

where she will either be killed or turned into a mindless drone. Nah, she gets out of it either way and escapes the Qunari. Such a slippery pirate Leliana isn't exactly what you would call a bastion of stability.

This raises an interesting question. If you import this version of Leliana, do you get the spirit Leliana in DAI? Or does that only trigger if you killed her in DAO? Neither of these is a scenario I can test out myself. Does it really have to be tested? Dragon Age Keep has only four states for Leliana in Origins: 'alive & well', 'didn't recruit', 'killed after poisoning the urn' or 'left'. I think only 'killed after poisoning the urn' triggers epilogue from Trespasser. Besides, in DAI she only really mentions something strange happening to her after she's killed in Temple Of Sacred Ashes in DAI. That doesn't exclude the possibility that *something* might have happened if she died in other circumstances, but those things are left unaddressed. The epilogue itself is not written in a way that is supposed to be taken as conclusive ( "Leliana remained in the Royal Court for a time, mourning. She poured her heat into a ballad that would eventually become known throughout Thedas. But after one performance, Leliana quietly vanished. Some say the Maker came to her in a vision again that night. Smiling, tears in eyes, she told a maid that she would see her love again at last...") - at best it implies that she might have made an attempt.

The epilogue itself is not written in a way that is supposed to be taken as conclusive Aren't you one of those people that likes the Dragon Age lore ambiguity and that it's open to interpretation? Well this is my interpretation. It's certainly possible that the game could pull from multiple Keep settings: Leliana alive (yes), Leliana romance (yes), Warden alive/dead (dead). So if you combine the DAO epilogue, which I do think heavily implies that she killed herself (you can interpret differently, so we'll just have to disagree), I don't see why that can't be a possibility. I think it would be pretty damn interesting if that were the case. However, I doubt the writers bothered, to be honest. I'll add one caveat and that is relating to the circumstances of her DAO death. I've never done it, but I was under the impression that, if you don't bring her along to the temple, but still poison the urn, she confronts you when you arrive back at the camp. (Doesn't Wynne do this also?) You can talk her down, or fight and kill her. If that's wrong, and the only way she can actually be killed is within the temple itself (thus to be affected by the lyrium) then that renders this whole argument moot since she wouldn't have come back as a spirit anyway if she died elsewhere. But if you can kill her at the camp, then there is certainly the possibility that she would have been possessed if she killed herself, leading to the Trespasser epilogue.

Well this is my interpretation. We were not at the realm of interpreting yet, but establishing whether there is any ambiguity (thus room for interpretation) to begin with.

Would love to see a desire demon in that role. It’s so rare to have lady LIs bring an edge of menace. Solasmancers are out there finding the love in lovecraftian existential horror, Bull riders bang a (hopefully ex) Ben-Hassrath spy, Fenrismancers get pinned to the wall, Andersmancers can’t control his demon, and Zevranmancers cuddle with a Crow who literally tried to assassinate them when they first met. Meanwhile the closest analogue on the other side is “maybe Merrill will do too much blood magic”. Not a one is frightening or slightly out of control. Even Cass immediately goes fluffy and nonthreatening at the first sign of flirting. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. But dammit, sometimes I want my PCs to get spooked right into their LI’s clutches. Morrigan turns into a spider and a dragon and stuff. That's pretty creepy. But I feel you. Bring on the weird lady LIs I am 100% down with that. We need more Scaled One LIs. or just more Scaled Ones in general. Give me my horrible Lizard people, Bioware.

The implication I understood about biotics is that all races eventually evolve into having it. Meaning if the Krogan don't implode from their own violent tendencies, they could eventually reach this point as well.
