CG @onaredhorseUpon finding, in the vast archives of my brain, the perfect quote to use for MS title. Researches, discovers it is not, in fact, an age old adage but rather a saying written by @patrickweekes. Some fine writing, sir. # thebloodiesthands #darngoodtitle #thatIcannotuse #amwriting Patrick Weekes @patrickweekesWhile Solas says it, credit for the line goes to @sherylchee, who wrote that exchange, IIRC. - For those who may not remember the quote...[HASH]DAT

I keep thinking what this game could have been like with another year / year-and-a-half in the oven... Same can be said for ME3 What DA2 had was the best dialogue system. I like that I could play as a diplomatic, sarcastic or aggressive Hawke. It would be nice to have that in the next da game.

DAII is the best in term of combat in my opinion, Fast and fun. I also love that Mage can use staff in melee combat. And I replay DAII more than DAO or DAI.

To each their own, I guess, but I don't miss having the game decide my Hawke is a one personality dude/lady when I'm trying to add depth through dialogue by having them talk to differently to certain people in certain situations. All because I chose +1 more options of Blue/Purple/Red than the other two. I'm perfectly fine with the DAI neutral convo starters.

I don't agree it was a letdown. In fact, I think it has the best ending of the series so far, plus some of the best characters.

I do wish BioWare had the time to better flesh out Corypheus and make him a more well-rounded character, because he really need it. Even some of the insight we gained in Calpernia's PT didn't feel like enough. And the ending of the main game was pretty much standard boss-battle fare. That said... I agree that Trespasser redeemed the ending in big way, and left the game in a very good place for DA4. I think pretty much everyone's onboard for the direction they're taking the game next. As opposed to say, ME, where there's a half-dozen opinions on where fans want the game to go next...

I didn't mind the fight against Corypheus. He was in desperate mode. Everything he had was pushed back by the Inquisition. He also realized had he not flapped his gums at Haven, instead of just killing the herald, he most likely would have won. Like Tuco says, in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, if you're going to shoot, shoot, don't talk. The ending was fitting. He wanted in the fade, so the Inquisitor sends him there.

I think they felt if they told too much about him, it would reveal more than they wanted to reveal for the story. As it stands now, the "intelligent darkspawn" - including the Architect - remains somewhat a mystery to us - probably as intended. Plus, as Varric says, the real "bad guy" is Solas - and he is VERY interesting to me, as is the fate and past of the elves. I agree about Trespasser, one of their best DLC's ever about one of their best characters ever.

The worst bit about the ending sequence is that what could have been one of the big surprises with the confrontation and then the other dragon swooping in had already been revealed in the trailer. I hate it when they reveal too much major plot action in movie trailers and I felt this was the same.
I also disliked the Flemeth/Solas meeting because it ruined what could have been a mystery that you gradually discovered as a player during Trespasser. As it was, the entire punch line of Trespasser was already known to me and it was just a case of my character catching up. I disliked it when they did that in DAO with Zevran
I believe PW hinted that they wanted to do more of these sort of cut scenes in the future but I really hope they don't. I want to be able to role play my character and find out things at the same time as they do, not simply be an actor in a movie where I already know things in advance of the action.

DARKSPAWN ARE NOT DEMONS
On the other stuff ... I'm disappointed in the end fight with Corypheus, as I thought there would be more lead-up. You have to wade through some demons to get to the guy, you know? They also should have made use of the fact that he's literally immortal by reducing his hit points and making it so you have to kill him, say, three times.
I'm less disappointed with the character. He needs to be present in the game more, but his plans are generally well-executed and I'm impressed with how he's acting on multiple fronts to achieve his ends.

I was super disappointed with the final fight with Cory, as I remember the DA2:Legacy experience as one of the hardest boss fights ever. Now, he has pulled a dragon out of his ass, is granted the Orb, mind controls hundreds of Wardens and is allied with powerful demons...only to last for a couple of minutes at best?
I like the idea of Cory succeeding in recruiting whoever we "abandon" in IYHSB. But this army gets wiped out substantially during the avalanche. Cory, being the pathetic fool he is, doesn't even manage to kill a helpless Inquisitor in Haven. I would have expected more drama in the story. Cory honestly looks like a loser, and he would have had the potential for a superb villain both story- and gameplaywise.

The final battle with Corypheus being disappointing is a direct result of creating a villain that you slowly break down over the course of the game. I actually found it somewhat satisfying that the scene directly before the final battle, Corypheus is raving like a lunatic in front of a crowd of probably twelve people. He's already been defeated at that point, and you are merely mopping up the last of his failure.
The idea, at least as I perceived it, was always that "A real god need not proclaim his godhood."
I dont know if I would say this validates the ending, but it makes the ending make more seance. Corypheus is, was, and forever will be, pathetic.
Trespasser IS a good ending, but I'm not sure its fair to call DLC "the real ending".

I will settle (maybe even prefer, depending) for a dual protag situation, but yeah. If the Inquisitor isn't significantly involved in DA4, Trespasser actually kinda makes DAI's ending worse than it was pre-Tresspasser. To be clear, I didn't entirely mind the vanilla ending, minus not getting a note or something from Solas saying "Sorry but you'll never see me again. Have a good life." or something. But Trespasser has raised hopes.

Bossfight with Meradeth. She goes completely anime, brings robot Andraste to life, brings slave statues to life, all your friends show up, and then she turns into a statue. Your point is invalid.
