Eighteen years ago I was a student at @clarionwest. Tonight, I am Skyping in to talk writing with this year’s class. I hope CW2k18 has had as many good running jokes, water fights, and breakthroughs as CW2k.

I mean... Other than the Blood Magic Angle, it was a bit like any coming out story I'd see since the 90s depicted on TV and movies. But no idea if lacking originality really makes Dorian a gay caricature (and I'm only referencing the big scene in Redcliffe, not Dorian as a whole here)

I actually get that concern. I remember it from the first draft peer review. Then I realized that I was critiquing it as if I’d written it to try to write a gay character, not as if you’d written a story you HAD to write.

I mean, I would take it as a data point, next to the points of multiple people, myself included, moved to tears by the final execution of his story.

Some folks just aren’t moved by something. Not bad, just is.

(And some folks think spotting a trope means they’ve found a cliche, despite the explanatory text on the TVTropes page specifically differentiating the two.)

cliches are famous for a reason. Odds are you've needed to use, or repurpose a cliche or spent six hours finding a way to write it that wasnt one. Cliches arent a huge deal if done sparingly or well. (Weekes doesnt need this, it's his job. This is for you, struggling writer.)

That probably means Luke Kristjanson, who wrote most of the first Baldur's Gate and is with Bioware since the beginning. And I think wrote in almost all Bioware games.

You know, the guy no one knows about that still IS in Bioware, but people will only talk about him and praise him the day he leaves the company. :/

Sorry, I wasn't talking about here. I meant the dozens of Youtube channels that cry doom every time a senior Bioware member quits. They never say acknowledge Luke even existing, but when he retires they will go all praising him and saying that now Bioware is doomed.

The only thing of note I can think of is the new Dragon Age: Deception comic series coming out in October. 

...and Varric's book (Dragon Age: Hard in Hightown) on July 31st (only a few days away).

Gen con is first week of August. Any dragon age pen and paper news expected? Any games planned? Any thoughts of a YouTube live version of the pen/paper game like geek and sundry does (see gif in a earlier post)

Any chance of putting all the relevant news on page 1 ?
