Nunai @morphineilusion If Solas gets an "anime like" glorious transformation into a mecha while the fade is destroyed I'm so in Patrick.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Possibly in the Dragon Age/Transformers crossover epic, where he becomes Solas Prime. (Okay, for the 2-3 people who see this exchange and go deep on Transformers lore, this is a very good joke. I apologize to everyone else.)
Laura Naylor @obsidianhope #Bioware mentions considering a new system for story updates beyond release in DA and ME and many fans grossly overreact. Each installment of both series has always added new mechanics. Solas is not going to roll up in a mech and start punting mabari across Ferelden. @gamblemike
Michael Gamble @gamblemike OR IS HE.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes Glares at @obsidianhope, deletes Work-in-Progress file for “Dragon Age: Mechs of the Wolven Fade” while muttering under breath.
John Epler @eplerjc
It's time to go all Final Fantasy on this sucker.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes What’s the power that makes the moon transform into a giant spaceship/robot that then shoots a giant laser down at the world every time you use it?
John Epler @eplerjc Probably Bahamut. It's almost always Bahamut.
Mark Darrah @biomarkdarrah #crystalpunk
John Epler @eplerjc All I'm saying is that 'Magitek' does a lot of work for them. And we never say that ancient Thedas -didn't- have bipedal magic robots.

Well, there were... strong suggestions Plus, I'm fairly sure that golems, especially the metal ones, are as close to mecha as possible in high fantasy.

I had to run that by BioWare, it was too good to pass up.
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes “Patrick, we need some extra codex entries to fill out the Western Approach. Just write whatever you want.” WhatEVER I want, you say? (People need to learn to stop asking me to write codex entries.)
I still don't see how having mass opinion canon would work when it takes at least 6 months to develop content and you can't really have a live servive game waiting 6 months each time for content, they will go nuts.
It'd be like Telltales where the changes would be cosmetic and super shallow because who lived/died couldn't actually be that important. I assume they would make the game as much as possible, get the input, and tick boxes to exchange body models and dialogue lines. Everything still gets said, just by different people in slightly different ways. to use an above example about a date. So you'd get a date with Dorian in some neutral location that any of the companions would agree to going to. If you romanced someone other than Dorian, then they'd just switch the body models and dialogue lines. But all of the motions, the location, events in the date would be the same for everyone even if it was a little OOC for a very flirty character to be as demure as that-- or a super demure character being as flirty as that.
I mean, that's not really mass opinion canon as in the audience choses where the story goes, that's just having limited choices, and BioWare already do handle choices in their games as they can affect choices in later games - they also already handle choices as part of continued story development in a game, in SWTOR, but it faces the same problems in any other BioWare games that if you kill a character it limits the resources that could be put into them going forward. In saying that they did recently make a romance quest for a charcter that was killable, but I think a surprisingly large preportion of the audience let the character live and there was alot of people that wanted a male force user as a romance option so it ticked two boxes. I suppose that could count as mass opinion canon that's affected by what players chose but in all honesty I'm pretty sure the devs already respond to how popular certain factions/characters are. I again don't see it being different to what's being done already whereas the kind of future Jason Schrier was suggesting seems extreme, limits devs creative freedoms of where to take the story and also doesn't seem feasibly possible in dev time frame.

I wish they could hire Telltale to make DA and/or ME stuff, would be such a nice way of getting more lore and being engaged in the world while waiting for the games. I know I would play them immediately!

Casey Hudson @caseydhudson Some weird stuff going around about how our future games will be influenced by Anthem. Of course when we do a Dragon Age game it will be designed from the ground up based on what Dragon Age should be. Same with Mass Effect...
Anthem is a specific thing that’s unique from our other IPs in many ways. What carries forward is what we learn about game design, which is a constant evolution.

Constant evolution: - started with isometric 2d (technically wrong...they started with 1st person) - discovered isometric 3d - discovered camera movement - discovered the Z axis (aka jumping) - discovered ladders - discovered hovering - (we are here) discovered swimming, flying
It's like BioWare is playing a RPG and with each new game release they level up and gain new perks, lol.

James Poniewozik @poniewozik What is the word choice that would give you away as the author of an anonymous op-ed?
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes The BioEditors are gonna say it’s my passive voice — and starting sentences with “and” — but I strongly suspect it’s the double-hyphen clauses all over the damn place.
Also thank you to @karinweekes, @genevrael, @bengelinas — and someday @el_cormier — for turning the double-hyphen dashes all over my dialogue into M-dashes or whatever they’re supposed to be.

Cori Nicole @genevrael I would say it's your penchant to write everything to the rhythm of Hallelujah
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes I do not think it’s accurate to say my writing, all of it, is slave to some linguistic affectation.
Cori Nicole @genevrael I'm just saying - everyone does those other things. But you're the only one who rhythms.

Pronk On Melra_f_lem This is like the best and most loving shade I have ever seen thrown in my life
Patrick Weekes @patrickweekes I want to argue, and then I remember the time I tried to not change a line I was asked to change in ME3, because as written, it was in iambic pentameter.
...Also technically the entire double dagger ability tree in DAI.
