yaaay woo someone else who prefers the American voice!
I don't dislike the British one, it just sounds so... breathy. Loosen a few knots in that poor girl's corset, why don't you.
...Unless you mean that you only use the other male Inquisitor voice in which case OH FINE.

the gist is EA's acquisition saved BioWare from bankruptcy and enabled them to produce more games post-acquisition (10/2007). Thank you so much! I forwarded the links and some screen shots to him. Back to reality, deciding if the statement, "The gaming industry is made worse by Bioware's existence." is a dating deal breaker for me. I've dated crazy, and I've dated stupid, but I've never tried to do both at once.

But I keep starting and starting an American Female VA for a female Dwarf character of mine. Warrior Templar. Her story is of gaining a faith in something of Andraste, as opposed to my main's deconstruction of faith.

On a note that I believe is related, David Gaider once commented on Twitter that the darkspawn were created because the “boss” (an EA higher-up) wanted a bad guy faction. Well, they don’t get any worse than darkspawn.

The boss was James Ohlen a BioWare veteran from the Shattered Steel days, he's the one who thought BioWare should have their own fantasy IP and then assigned the project to Gaider.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there were darkspawn long before EA arrived. They bought BioWare comparatively late in the development process, I don't think there was time for the whole plot to be rewritten from the ground up.

Just a general notice - I'd caution against stuff that sounds close to: 'well ORIGINALLY there wasn't this or that'... as if the initial script or ideas were somehow superior at all times. I think most storytellers will agree that it's usually anything but. It's quite common for stories to look very different compared to how they began, even if they are entirely uninfluenced by anyone aside from the author. Games of the scope of DA are, naturally, a very collaborative process with many factors involved, but I don't think it's productive to speculate about changes to DA's script with an implication that initial ideas were somehow better, or that motives for change were predominantly financial or that something wouldn't happen if not for pressure of corporate overlords

Sooooooooo many things got cut or changed during the development of Origins. Multiplayer! Two whole origins! Putting all your companions through the Joining after the Landsmeet! Lyrium addiction mechanics!
And, sure, some of the stuff that got cut sounds like it could have been good. I'll always be a little sorry that Celene didn't come to visit Denerim and that the Avvar origin had to go. But some of it sounds terrible - that whole subplot about Loghain being mind-controlled by the Archdemon would have ruined his character, and the human peasant origin was cut quite late in development because everyone involved thought it was unsalvageablely bad and they didn't have time to rewrite it from the ground up. There's never any way of knowing if the originally planned thing would have been better than what we got, and sometimes it's obvious that it would have been worse.
Similarly, I will never get people complaining that Crestwood got a different story from the one we saw in the demo for Inquisition. The Crestwood area story we ended up with is great! There's no reason to think that the previous version would have been better.

It may have been a decree from a higher-up, but it was a good one. All too often we think that bosses are completely out of touch with what the grunts are doing and, while that may be so in SOME cases, more often than not, they have a big picture view that the grunts might not understand until later and then see some decisions in a different light. I know this is very true of me.

Yep - I also recall Gaider cautioning people once or twice that when they hear about changed/unrealized plans they shouldn't fall into a trap of imagining how much better those plans and ideas would be compared to what we got. I'm fairly sure that they could be at times (a lot of us would probably agree that DAI would likely be better at places if it dropped old-gen), but that ain't always the case and quite often it's a mixed bag. Anyway... I'm sure that the story was very malleable, especially when they were still drafting it and bouncing ideas back and forth. Plus, I believe strongly that it doesn't really matter that much WHAT we do rather than HOW we're doing it. 'Somebody is throwing an idea at us? Ok, we're going to take it and make it work'. That's how DA and ME began their life after all, didn't they? Bioware wanted a sci-fi franchise and a fantasy franchise of their own. It's not like Gaider or a higher-up in Bioware woke up one day with this Grand Vision (TM) for a fantasy story and everybody just went with it.

I prefer the female US VA for my sarcastic, argumentative Inquisitor. Alix is great, but I prefer her as Traynor tbh.

Biznes pezdjuk Zhenja...
I mean, my Cyrillic isn't too bad, but I don't actually understand that.
Google doesn't offer a translation either. Where is she from, actually? Ukraine or Russia? The charaters I actually recognize as different are not present in that name.

I entered some text from her Twitter account into a Russian to English online translator and came back with a coherent result, so I would say it's Russian.
There are a number of Dragon Age fans in Russia. Which is a bit odd, given the Kremlin's hardline stance on anything with LGBTQ content.

It's probably a name or something similar, so wouldn't translate other than phonetically. Most people's online names would make no sense when translated (heck, some make no sense in the native language).

This can be roughly translated as "shitty business brat Zhenia". "Pezdjuk" is quite obscene, a mixture of "offspring" and "c*nt". Zhenia is his/her name, short from Yevgeni/Yevgenia. Calling yourself degrading names structured like this is popular on twitter, they can be really funny. Yes, this is my first post after years of reading this and previous bsn.
