Presley HynesCrown @phrequencies From Mike, the sound designer that made them: I used pigs, horses, human vocals, lions, tigers, all mixed together and morphed to create the dragons for dragon age! no real inspiration on any specific animal, I just combined different animals until I landed on something unique.

Melissa Janowicz deedlite I went to animation school. Went into indie games in a lot of “generalist artist/designer” roles and then transitioned fully into design. Now I design bosses and creatures for BioWare.
Crystal McCord @mrscmccord Would you describe a huge difference between designing creatures and animating creatures?
Melissa Janowicz deedlite Yes it’s really different, I decide how the creature functions in terms of its actions and how it will fight the player. I have conversations with my animator and we brainstorm how the creature will “perform” and move and they will animate it.
It’s almost like... I provide the rules and the logical side. We do talk about it together but the animator puts on the performance, like an actor, and can do anything that fits the rules for the creature.
