I saw this, but was of two minds of this as well... 1. It's just an inside joke and possibly just to throw off his real intentions. 2. It's a clever DA4 acronym. Eg. Solas Was Often Likeable but Wrong On Kinda Everything ... What if it's an anagram? I disagree. It IS Mark Darrah we're talking about here. My guess, DA will have us facing alien invaders (the Qun) who have vastly superior technology but we will get our Griffins back and have to fly one of them into a Qunari Dreadnought. I hope they don't ever pull that "qunari are aliens, elves are mutants and IT WAS EARTH ALL ALONG, YOU BASTARDS, YOU BLEW IT UP" bullshit. I personally despise that trope. Embracing that cliché was one of the reasons I abandoned the Shannara series. Why can't our fantasy settings just be fantasy settings?

One of my fist home-brew crackpot theory was that Thedosian elves are... actually aliens if anything, the aliens in the games are humans. the elves were always in thedas, as far as anyone can tell, it was the humans that arrived out of nowhere then started spreading empires and tribes. I did say it was crackpot theory - however in the theory elves have arrived on Thedas earlier than anyone else. |

I wouldn't even waste another thought on it. Because of, ya know, the internet, it's difficult to tell if he's being coy or not. It could very well be that, even though he likely wrote the scripts where Solas asks us to find these, he didn't have much to do with the actual quest and gamey aspect of that. After all, like many followers have, this is the artificial method to pump up Solas's approval, which is very gamey, and might be the purview of another department. Keep in mind that it could just be a mistake, such as Solas's omitted Mythal dialogue where he offers no context to explain his outrage later on if you decide to drink. |
